I heard about Orangetheory Fitness when they first opened but the price just got to me at first. Then I went for my first class with Hannah B and was enticed afterwards. I was actually seeing results from my workout. Some of these other gyms I went to, the trainer shows up late then gives you half the time for your workout without concentrating on what your goals are. Here at Orangetheory Fitness the trainers are very dedicated to helping everyone reach their goals, in a comfortable and safe environment to workout. They will even adjust your workout if you have any injuries, etc going on, which I love because some of the other gyms didn't do that for me, which wound me up with an injury. The goal at Orangetheory is to be in the green, orange and red zones for at least 12 minutes. Coach Dee Dee is great at making sure you get there! She even has a killer playlist every time I come for her classes! What I love about this gym compared to the others is I get a variety of workouts. Such as weights, treadmill, and rowers. My other gym it was treadmill or nothing. I need variety to get my muscles going and heart rate up. Speaking of heart rate, if you wear the heart rate monitor it will track your progress on the TV screens throughout the class! How cool is that? We didn't have that at my other gyms! My schedule is pretty busy and when I came home and was excited about it my husband bought a treadmill the next day which came with an IFIIT membership that I have been trying the different classes so I have not been back but I do think I will at some point because it was a great workout and different from what I am used to. I definitely recommend if you are struggling with motivation and looking to try something new!

Using a class-pass system is great since you can use them as you need to, it helps when you have a changing schedule. Lisa and the other instructors are all very knowledgeable and, more importantly for someone with my lack of coordination, very patient! They also have lots of fun classes like before or after Thanksgiving as well as way to keep you constantly challenged. The studio is very nice, very clean and always lots of fun to go to. In addition, they have an in-house massage therapist who is wonderful. Turning Point Fitness totally changed the way I think about exercise!

When I signed up there was a new member challenge that entailed completing 10 classes to earn a free pair of socks. I was super excited for this challenge and for the socks since they were cute so I completed 10 classes. On my tenth I walked in and they welcomed me and said congratulations on completing the new member challenge. They even took a photo of me with a sign saying I'd completed the accomplishment. Afterward I asked if I could choose my pair of socks and I was looked at as if I had two heads. Both women at the front desk said there was no such thing and insisted members only get a pair of socks for completing 100 classes. I thought I may have misheard when signing up so I went along and continued with my classes. Except the following week when another woman had completed her tenth class and was awarded and allowed to choose her complimentary pair of socks. This hurt--was my accomplishment not the same? Was I not valued the same way? It seems silly but this small miscommunication just made me feel unwelcome or as if my money or commitment to showing up didn't go as far as someone else's. That day I sent an email requesting my membership to be canceled. We went back and forth a couple times until I was notified that there was a 3 month commitment but once the 3 months are up there was a note on my account and my membership would cancel and I wouldn't be charged! I said great sounds easy enough. So I continued going to classes. When my last class rolled around I wanted to double check that my membership would be ending and safe to say no note was placed on my account and this was very disappointing. While the instructors and most of the staff are wonderful I really wish the management at this place was more thorough in communicating with their team to make sure everyone knows the policies and current promotions/challenges. I would have loved to continue working out here but just couldn't stand the idea of showing up somewhere being promised one thing and provided another. Not to mention many of the classes were repetitive in moves/music. After completing a month of classes I felt like I was stuck in the Groundhogs day movie. Additionally, while there are a variety of classes most class types are scheduled for the same days/times so this limits your ability to sign up for a variety of workouts.

When you walk into the studio not far from the front desk are lockers that you can put your stuff in. The class was pretty full. But there was enough distance between people so you don't feel suffocated while you work out. They aLao have wipes to clean the equipment you use(they provide all equipment, you just bring your socks). Our instructor was Abby. She was very attentive and corrected my form whenever I wasn't doing things properly. I will say the class goes a little fast so it was hard to keep up (being that I am new to the language). I'm sure if you go a few times you will catch on. All and all this was a great experience and I could feel each movement targeting specific muscles. I will likely try it again!

I felt a little déjà vu walking into the studio, similar to the first time I tried yoga. It was a feeling of embarrassment combined with the fear of actually dying on dance floor. Filling out waiver forms beforehand did not help the situation. Well it turns out there was nothing to be afraid of. We were the only ones who showed up (cold Sunday), so it turned out to be a private lesson of sorts. The class was fun and engaging. The 60 minute session flew by quickly. Jazzercise seems to be a fusion of jazz dance, resistance training, Pilates, yoga and kickboxing. There was a lot of variety in the routine and I felt like all my major muscle groups were worked on. The non-stop music also helps you get into the routine. Even with two left feet, I was able to follow along (I think?) and the routines were not too complicated. It's also nice because you can sit out for a song or do fewer reps if necessary. Being with a group of friends/coworkers helped ease my transition into Jazzercise. To be honest, even with strangers, I think you would be hard-pressed to feel too self-conscious since you are too busy following the routine. Sure, Jazzercise may not be the manliest way to burn calories, but it's a damn good workout. You're pretty much constantly moving for 60 minutes. I am pretty sure i'll be sore in the morning. This Jazzercise center seems on the smaller side, but it's cozy and Jenna is awesome.

Her ego could give the Manhattan skyline a run for its money. I left her two messages and stopped by three times with no response. On the fourth attempt, I finally caught her, and honestly, I wish I hadn't. The interaction had all the warmth of an ice storm and about as much grace as me trying to pirouette in steel-toed boots. Let's be clear: her only apparent qualification for managing a yoga/fitness studio is that she happens to own a yoga outfit. That's it. Customer service? Zero. Empathy? Nonexistent. I signed up, attended two classes, then got sick and couldn't go back. Months later, I realized my card was still being charged. I owned up to my mistake and asked if there was anything they could do. Any business with even a shred of customer service sense would've said, "We understand--let's work with you. Stick with us and we'll make it right." Instead, I got the robotic chant: "You signed a contract. You signed a contract." And just when I thought she had secured her place in the Customer Service Hall of Shame, she doubled down: "Oh, and you're responsible for next month's fee too, because we need 30 days' notice to cancel." Seriously? That's not just bad service--it's a business model built on fine print, gotchas, and arrogance. If you're looking for an uplifting, customer-oriented fitness community, look literally anywhere else. Detailed pros and cons (price was the big one) for me laid out below. It was about a year ago that I left FE but i forgot to share this at the time; note that things may have changed since I left. PRO Unlike places like Club Pilates, the waitlist works pretty well but it wasn't difficult to regularly attend the same classes without even using waitlists. There were a few classes that worked really well with a 9-5 schedule. CON The cost was significant for me for a place you can't go to outside of scheduled classes. I totally get this is cheaper than one on one training and the quality is extremely high, but when friends and family asked me how much my training classes were, every single answer I gave was met with shock. While FE staff is very friendly and easy to talk to about membership, the absolute cheapest I could make work was the longest commitment. If you come from a two-income household this would be more reasonable, but as a one-income single person, it was not sustainable for me. There were weird moments for me personally, because there were specific "bring/tell your friends" promotional weeks, but all my friends are low-paid teachers and could never afford this. When I started to have some medical expenses and more recently a new car payment, there was no way I could keep paying for this (FYI they were very kind and willing to let me out of membership early). PRO This is a very high quality training experience with kind, personable trainers who are educated, tactful, and observant about who is in their class. For every class, the trainer prepares specific weights and routines that are personalized for every single person signed up. The equipment/space provided and sanitizing expectations are great, down to the number of weights, the individual stations, and the timers. CON There were more (simple things!) instructors could have done to create community. While people were never rude to me, many times when I went to a class with an instructor for the first time (new class time/new instructor for me) -- and this includes my very first class ever -- the instructors didn't facilitate/encourage introductions to the regulars, despite knowing I was new to that class. The class then felt very cliquey, because everyone else knew each other and had inside jokes. I'm an introvert and definitely struggled with that dynamic. CON Though I arrived appropriately early, many times I found I still would be the last one to class -- to the point where everyone else had almost finished warmups. That's supposed to be the point of including the warmup in the class time! I would then be behind the others the entire workout. It's not a competition, but it was difficult to not feel that way sometimes. CON I felt that the onboarding didn't fully click with me for the progression of the sequences in a class, or maybe that was my first class's instructor's fault. I did not understand at all the A then B then interval sequence back and forth, and was extremely confused as to what to do after each one for my first two-ish weeks. This rectified itself over time but I didn't even fully understand what I didn't understand. PRO There are supplemental (mostly paid) opportunities to take advantage of, from special classes to nutrition help to various video content pieces. PRO This is a small business, and the owner is very personable and easy to talk to about membership questions or concerns throughout your time there. Even though i didn't feel intentionally welcomed by the other classgoers, the instructors themselves were all very friendly and genuine.

She instantly made me feel welcomed into the space, which I really appreciated. The room was super warm but did not feel overly hot and was comfortable for the hot yoga session I signed up for. We went through a moderate vinyasa that was the perfect way for me to jump back into a yoga class after it had been awhile. The instructor was great about meeting the class where it was at and providing a robust but not overly intense session. I enjoyed it and feel that the price point of $10 for a class is super affordable, especially for that area. Would love to return!

If i had to classify this experience, it's for independent yoga students that have prior experience and prefer a class that's more of a "headphones in and silent study" type of vibe. This particular studio I would say focuses on the aesthetics above all. So the rooms are nice, the bathrooms are clean, the welcome space is inviting, and the instructors are what you would expect. Good yoga studio, just not my cup of tea. I prefer a different yoga experience.
