The instructors make a huge effort to get to know everyone who comes through the door. There is also a huge focus of safety, from keeping a spotlessly clean studio to making sure you keep correct form - customer satisfaction is always important. I love working out there and it is my preferred studio in Columbus.

I don't live in Bexley but I'm often met with friendly classmates and the teachers know my name. Parking is easy to find and the studio is clean, with ample sanitizers around. Often they have free protein bars for grabs... BONUS. The owner is friendly and has been responsive to issues I've had with scheduling. I do think a few upgrades would go a long way. For one, there is not enough equipment for each member in some of the fuller classes - there seems to be a shortage of 3lb and 4lbs weights. I'd LOVEEE new equipment to help switch up the variety of the class - like ankle weights, pilate rings or weighted balls. Just a thought. There's only so much you can do with body weight, a ball and 5 lb or less weights in a barre class. Most of the teachers are creative and great at adding variety but other times it feels a bit stale. I also noticed in the classpass app its says free towels and water. There isn't water or towels. There's a brita filter water pitcher in their back area inside of a fridge but I'm not sure if it's open to the public. I've been dying of thirst before and asked about water and was told to grab a glass from the cabinet and use that brita - I felt like I was at a friend's house asking an adult for a drink, lol. Anyway, a water cooler would be wonderful. A girls gotta stay hydrated to be well! Thank you Be Well for fostering a nice, friendly environment and having some of the best barre teachers around!

I was locked in for 3 months at a discounted monthly rate. There were some delays in opening, but once they did, I went to a grand opening to chat with the franchise owner and other reps about my membership. I purchased their mat & towel (made to withstand the heat) at a discounted price, got a tour, and experienced my first workout. There are 9 saunas and each has a monitor with virtual instructor workouts. The cardio HIIT workouts include bikes, rowers, and ellipticals. The other workouts include low-intensity classes such as yoga, pilates, bands, barre, etc. Aside from the hot classes, they have a separate workout section with hand weights and a weight machine. Members are given their own access to the studio, which is open 24/7. We can book classes on the app. Each sauna allows up to 3 people at once, but I prefer booking a solo class. The benefits of a hot workout are explained on the videos. I like it. It's tough, but a great workout and they definitely make you sweat. I also follow their facebook group for tips, and go on their website to get more information on each class offered.

Ballet for Rookies is a class that is accessible to all levels and ages. Christina, the owner/instructor, does an amazing job teaching and encouraging students! She brings her years of experience (professional) and education (MFA in Dance) to create a fun and challenging class. Christina encourages creativity and playfulness. I've always worried about looking silly while exercising, but I felt at ease in this class (and dare I say, occasionally I felt as graceful as a dancer?). She cues modifications for differing levels and she is great about correcting form. You can tell she wants her students to enjoy the class and be safe while doing it so that they can dance for many years to come! I've taken many Barre classes, but secretly felt that they were more of an aerobics class (or the jazzercise for the new millennium). I loved that these classes focused solely on ballet! In no way did it feel like less of a workout. You will definitely feel it in your legs the next morning!

I started off going to the Ballet for Every Body class on Tuesday nights on the recommendation of a…read morefriend. I'm not much of a dancer, and ballet doesn't appeal to me that much, but this friend recommended it so highly that I gave it a shot. Christina Providence, the teacher, is amazing. She encourages everyone to get comfortable in their bodies, and, as simple as this sounds, has had a profound impact on my life. It turned out I had all these injuries that Christina helped me realize and then work through. The basic upshot is that she leads us through lots of restorative routines (aka, a lot of laying on the floor or rolling around) that have more or less completely healed up all sorts of chronic injuries I had from years of playing sports, being in front of the computer, and general tension. So, the Tuesday night Ballet for EveryBody class is a great place to start. It's really affordable, accessible, etc. I'd thought that the other classes were probably too specialized for me. But, about a year ago, I entered into a really stressful period of my life that unfortunately isn't showing signs of letting up any time soon. Christina recommended that I try the Monday night class, which she said was pretty good for stress-reduction. It's AMAZING. We do typical pilates things on the equipment but also a lot of restorative things like short meditations, and things that feel very relaxing (again, a lot of lying on the floor) but that are actually really good at releasing tension and even strengthening. I legitimately credit this class with helping me manage this incredibly stressful thing in my life. I played competitive sports until I was 26, and, even at my peak, I had a stubbornly weak and puffy core. Now, at 34, weight management is easier than its ever been, and I'm pretty strong and lean. I honestly think this is because of the precise exercises we do in the classes I've taken here. Oh--I also get reiki now, once a month, from a different practitioner, also named Christina, and it's been amazing as well. The best way for me to explain it is that the effects of it last a lot longer than a regular massage. It also helped stop me from grinding my teeth at night. Anyway. I wrote so much here because I really can't recommend this highly enough. I feel like this studio taught me how to listen to my body, and that's no small feat. I should also mention that there is no body shaming, ever, and that strikes me as unique. They never rush, they meet you exactly where you are, and the teachers I've taken classes from all seem genuinely excited to be there. So, yeah. I'm a Core Poetry Evangelist, basically, because I started off as a skeptic and the classes there have helped me immensely.

Prior to this, I had taken…read morea few barre classes at a couple other studios (not Pure Barre), but none were at the same level as this brand. Each instructor I've had has been great. During class it's clear I'm not a regular, so I appreciate that they do a really great job adjusting my form to ensure I am getting the most out of my workout. The classes fly by and they have a nice flow. I love that there are short stretch sessions after a "set" because my muscles are always exhausted and longing to be lengthened. All the tiny movements in each set really fatigue and tighten the muscles. Because the class goes so quickly and the instructor walks around more than she demos, it's easy to get a bit confused about what you are supposed to be doing. The more you go, the easier it probably becomes to follow along. But don't worry, if you are doing something wrong it won't be long until the instructor comes by to help. It's such a small studio space that you can't hide. Note: Pure Barre runs a tight ship! If you tend to come to classes a couple minutes late, look elsewhere for barre classes. They start on time and don't let people in after the music starts because the classes jump right in - there is no warm up. Also, you do need special socks for these classes.

Initially I had a great experience at Pure Barre! When I signed up there was a new member challenge that entailed completing 10 classes to earn a free pair of socks. I was super excited for this challenge and for the socks since they were cute so I completed 10 classes. On my tenth I walked in and they welcomed me and said congratulations on completing the new member challenge. They even took a photo of me with a sign saying I'd completed the accomplishment. Afterward I asked if I could choose my pair of socks and I was looked at as if I had two heads. Both women at the front desk said there was no such thing and insisted members only get a pair of socks for completing 100 classes. I thought I may have misheard when signing up so I went along and continued with my classes. Except the following week when another woman had completed her tenth class and was awarded and allowed to choose her complimentary pair of socks. This hurt--was my accomplishment not the same? Was I not valued the same way? It seems silly but this small miscommunication just made me feel unwelcome or as if my money or commitment to showing up didn't go as far as someone else's. That day I sent an email requesting my membership to be canceled. We went back and forth a couple times until I was notified that there was a 3 month commitment but once the 3 months are up there was a note on my account and my membership would cancel and I wouldn't be charged! I said great sounds easy enough. So I continued going to classes. When my last class rolled around I wanted to double check that my membership would be ending and safe to say no note was placed on my account and this was very disappointing. While the instructors and most of the staff are wonderful I really wish the management at this place was more thorough in communicating with their team to make sure everyone knows the policies and current promotions/challenges. I would have loved to continue working out here but just couldn't stand the idea of showing up somewhere being promised one thing and provided another. Not to mention many of the classes were repetitive in moves/music. After completing a month of classes I felt like I was stuck in the Groundhogs day movie. Additionally, while there are a variety of classes most class types are scheduled for the same days/times so this limits your ability to sign up for a variety of workouts.

I got out of my comfort zone maybe most of the time during the whole 60 minutes of barre. Lindsay G thank you so much for putting this event together. Both you and Allison rocked this class. Allison was our instructor and really good one. For a person with very little barre experience she made me feel super comfortable learning it with the small movements to the weights and barre itself. Everything Allison did she talked you through in the class. You can tell Allison had a lot of experience in this and when I talked to her after the class I learned she used to teach barre in Chicago and moved her later to teach at Otterbein and Bexley Yoga. She made the class so much fun too, like she let us pick out out music which was 90's themed and everything just feel into place from there. Lindsay also got us these cute pair of barre socks too. We all modeled them at the end with our barre poses. I would totally come back here again and not just take barre but also try the yoga classes to help with my anxiety and stress. I know a lot of my friends from Bexley come here and rave about other instructors too, so I'll be back soon! Thanks again Lindsay and Allison for a great time!

As in I didn't have very much time at all to stretch or settle into any pose in particular. It felt rushed throughout, with the exception of shavasana. I'd definitely try Bexley Yoga again next time I'm in the neighborhood to hopefully get a better picture of their practices.
