I attended my first class here last night and I still have mixed feelings about it... I signed up online for a 3 class pass for $9.99. You have to call and schedule your class with them, there's no online portal or app which I find very inconvenient. They immediately add you on Facebook and put you in their accountability group. Which may work for some people, but I'll probably leave it, I don't want my newsfeed full of people asking for others to motivate them to come to class. No one greeted me when I walked in, so I found the locker room myself and stored my things. The first class they ask you to show up half an hour early so you can fill out paperwork. You also get a personal trainer the first class, they limit new members to two per class. The trainer spends the class showing you how to perform the punches and kicks which is super helpful, but you don't get the same workout the rest of the class does. I also don't like that this class is barefoot... they don't clean the floors in between classes so it seems kind of gross, I'll probably wear socks next time. After the class ended they immediately asked me to buy a membership. I refused as I haven't actually experienced a full class yet and I would like to use my two remaining class passes first. From what I did see of their membership packages, they're super expensive, their best value package equaling out to $41 a week.... I'll go back for at least my next class, but if they push the membership I'm probably done. The locker room seems really nice and all of the members seem to know each other. This place is amazing. I have always wanted to try kickboxing but have been really nervous because I am beyond uncoordinated. I signed up for the challenge online due to the corporate marketing claiming it's "free" and met with Amanda for my consultation. RIGHT OUT THE GATE she explained what the challenge is AND that there is a $500 deposit down for it. Was I bummed it wasn't free? SURE, but nothing good is. And if you meet the goal you get your money back, and if you don't the money goes towards a membership. I NEVER felt pushed into a sale, AND I have brought a friend to try a class with me and they were AMAZING at making her feel welcomed and not obligated to sign up. Again, NO PUSHINESS at all. As a VERY well trained saleswoman I eat pushy sales people for breakfast, but didn't have to here (which is good, cause im sure that would be approved in my meal plan). I am on the last week of my fitness challenge and I did NOT lose 25 pounds, which was my goal. BUT, a big part of that is the meal plan was actually MORE food than I was used to eating and my dumb self didn't think to bring this struggle to my nutrition coach until just recently lol MY BAD, she was able to alter the plan to suit me MUCH better after I let her know I was struggling. I have done intensive bootcamps, cardio training, EVERYTHING and nothing compares to this workout. I have also seen a few reviews about people not knowing what to do, YA JUST GOTTA ASK. Every class a trainer has helped me with my footwork and form, without promt, and if you ask they take the time to help you happily. This place ISN'T cheap, but I'm okay with it, I'm willing to invest QUALITY into my health. Looking forward to starting the membership and continuing to get strong. I am extremely upset with the management of this location. I have been having payment issues for months and every time I try to take care of the situation I am given the run around. Management is extremely slow to respond and due to such I am charged injustly over and over again. Ihave also tried to discuss cancelling due to losing my second job that paid for the membership and they claim I cannot cancel. However, the contract states there is a cancellation fee with approval of the owner. I have requested the owner's information and I have not been given a response. This is completely unacceptable and a terrible way to run a business. I want to warn anyone that may be thinking of joining here so that you are aware and maybe I can save you the pain I have been going through. The anxiety and stress from it has made me sick. I was hesitant to post this review, but I have gotten angrier the longer I have held off: The reason I would not recommend this gym is not from feelings about the challenge, it's because of the gym culture. I stopped going due to the following experience: I had to leave a class in the middle of the workday with only 10-15 minutes left due to a text message from a coworker about a last minute meeting. I quietly cleaned off my bag and tried to exit when the instructor (who I hope did not mean any harm by this) asked me why I was leaving and then proceeded to BOO me over the mic, encouraging the entire class to boo me (which they did, what the heck people!?!). I told her I had to leave for work. I was humiliated. I never went back. That was at the end of 4 weeks into the challenge. I never received an accountability check from a trainer (part of that $500 challenge). I have no interest in getting anyone in trouble during these tough times (Covid) - but I did want to share my experience in case it could help someone make decisions for themselves. Some of the trainers are good and helpful. Others seem to be there to show off. Do not expect a trainer to give modifications to exercises even if a full room of people cannot do the exercise effectively. My experience with the challenge was mixed. I can see why people have success, but it didn't work out for me. I obviously wouldn't recommend it but I was hooked by all the success testimonials. I paid the $500 dollar deposit for the challenge (6wks, lose 25lbs or 6% body fat depending on your situation). I knew it was a lofty goal. I had lost 60lbs in a year, so 25 in 6 weeks sounded too good to be true. I asked the trainer I signed up with about it and she mentioned that if you don't meet the goal, they use the $500 toward a membership (at three weeks I told her I was planning on signing up if I didn't meet the goal). They give you a great meal plan, there is some facebook accountability, three workouts with them a week minimum, wkly weigh ins and halfway/end check ins with a trainer. All in all I think it was the type of accountability I needed. The workouts are very challenging but you feel great after. I was close to being on track at the 3 week mark but it took the meal plan, 3-4 days at ILKB and 5-6 days at my other gym with a trainer, to hit a 4-5lb loss. In the end I didn't meet the goal but I did have great success with my weight loss goal (down 14lbs in 4 weeks). So I guess I'm saying it's not all bad, but I would never recommend them given my personal experience. I have chosen to lose the $500 deposit - hard lesson learned. read more

I have been a member here for over a year and this is the best workout of my life. It isn't just the workout that I love, it is the management, the owner, and the group of people who are members. Let's start with management, they want the best for you. They don't want you to make excuses for yourself and they will push you to do your best. They remind you that there is a reason that you walk into each class, whether it be to lose weight, maintain weight, or gain muscle. The management will have one on one conversations with you if you want them to, to help you come up with a plan to reach your goals. If you want to discuss something with them, there are there for you. The owner, Allen, is wonderful to work with. He will take classes with you, learn your name, he will throw parties (pumpkin carving, tailgating, etc), and make you part of this group. Allen does a great job at giving back to his members and making this a place you want to be during and after your workout. The group is friendly and welcoming. Everyone who joins ILKB is now part of their fit fam and will also help you reach your fitness goals. You'll find friends and accountability partners. You'll find a book club and DJ nights. It is a great group of people with a wide array of interests that you'll get to know. There are no strangers at ILKB. The number one thing to remember when you go for a trial or Groupon is that there is a reason you walked into that building to begin with. You'll find strength, weight loss (I burn an average of 600 calories an hour), accountability, and a supportive group when you become a member, don't let your excuses get in your way of becoming everything you want to be physically or mentally. read more

Prior to joining ILKB, I was lifting weights a couple times a week, and playing volleyball recreationally, but I've never been one to enjoy cardio. I was nervous to try, but my friend and I started with the 5 class starter pack, and after the first night I was hooked! I don't know when the last time was that I'd had such a good workout. The instructors at ILKB are amazing and will give you the push you need to challenge yourself and go the extra step (or burpee ). They genuinely care for all the members and want to see everyone succeed. They are willing to help with modifications to the movements if needed, or on the other end, give some extra challenges if needed as well. In addition to the awesome trainers, ILKB is truly a great fitfam to be a part of. I have enjoyed getting to know other members both on the mat and at other get-togethers outside of the studio. read more

I signed up for the 6 week challenge because they told me it was free. I drove 20 minutes to there location as they told me before I start the challenge, I need to have a consultation. It was there I found out the catch.. you have to put down a $500 deposit, and if you don't hit the goal that they set for you (mine was to lose 6% body fat in 6 weeks) then you lose your $500. I was beyond annoyed at learning this as I was specifically told it was free with no catch. To make things worse, after I told Pete, the consultant, that I can't afford this he continued to try to sell me on it and other packages/memberships, repeatedly. This place should be ashamed of itself for lying to people and telling them one thing, making them drive a long way for their bull shit consultation, then telling them something else and wasting their time. Trust me, there's better businesses to get in shape at that are far less expensive and don't lie to you or waste your time. You're better off going anywhere else. read more

I purchased a Groupon for I Love Kickboxing - Columbus, and scheduled my first class in May 2019 (there was not a mandatory time frame regarding the use of sessions after initial activation for the Groupon I purchased), and it was fine. I was informed that I would need to schedule subsequent sessions via phone or text. Due to dealing with depression and anxiety for an extended period, I had not worked out much since May. I decided to get myself together and use the rest of the Groupon sessions and get the boxing gloves that were a part of the package. I scheduled my session via text on 7/19/19 for the 10:45am session the next morning. I didn't make it to the gym until around 11am, as I was struggling to prepare, as it seemed as though my body and mind were opposing working out this morning. Other things occurred that I perceived as hurdles, but I was determined to make it there, even though I was late. Once I made it to the gym, there was a blonde woman at the desk who made it a point to let me know at least twice that I was supposed to be there at least 5 minutes before class - like I wasn't aware that I was late. The instructor (short-haired brunette woman) had just finished the warm up session, and gave the class a water break. I didn't interrupt the flow of class as I took my shoes off and found a space to start. I planned to start stretching during the break that the class was in the process of taking. I then saw the instructor (who may also be the manager, as she was the person I spoke with during my first session and was directing other staff) talk to the woman at the desk, who looked over at me as I was trying to take my place in the class before the boxing portion started. The instructor never spoke to me - she actually had to walk past me to get to the desk. As I'd already stated, there were not a lot of people in the class, so I was able to easily find a spot. Due to my tardiness I made sure to bring my own gloves, as I didn't want to hold up any aspect of the class for someone to retrieve the new gloves for me that were a part of the Groupon. When I saw the instructor shake her head and the woman at the desk look at me again, I decided to go over to the desk to make sure that it was okay for me to be there. The instructor stated that I was not able to attend the class, and stated a justification regarding safety issues. However, I have been to other boxing classes at other gyms and boxing clubs, and there have been late attendees who have just started off slowly and were able to catch up quickly. In addition, I have been a bit late to other boxing centers a couple of times, and was NEVER turned away; I was able to warm up on my own for a few minutes and then fall in with the rest of the group. It was not only an embarrassing experience to have to put my shoes back on and gather my belongings, but I was frustrated that I pushed through the struggle to make it to the gym only to be turned away in front of everyone. I sent an email to the gym owner, Allen on 7/20/19 - the day I was kicked out of the boxing class; however, I did not receive a response. Therefore, I wanted to relay my experience publicly - as there did not appear to be any level of empathy or cognizance demonstrated at all regarding how the client may feel in this type of situation. read more

I've been looking for a fun way to workout, and boxing/kickboxing was one of the things I wanted to try. I started the free trial here for 3 free classes and gloves. There were some good things, but also some not so great experiences I had here. Let's start off with the good things about I Love Kickboxing. First, their facilities are very clean. They ran me through how they clean and how often they do it, and it really shows. It's a very clean place. Second, they give you a tour when you first get there. That helped me, because I was really familiar with where everything is in a short time. Third, they seem to have a strong sense of community. They often have events after classes where they go grab drinks. They all seem to know each others' names. They seem very welcoming. Now, to the bad parts of I Love Kickboxing that caused me not to join. First, they didn't show you any moves before class started. I was told to get there early, but I wasn't shown a short training lesson. All they did was give and tour and talk to you about yourself. These are great things, but I would rather be given a small lesson so I would know what I was doing. Secondly, you don't get to attend the entire first class with the trial. They stop you 15 minutes before class actually ends in order to show you the membership options. This brings me to the main reason that I didn't join this gym. They are EXTREMELY PUSHY! They added me to their Facebook group before I even attended my first class. They also asked me to bring my friends and boyfriend to future classes even though I hadn't even experienced it yet. When the first class was over, they tried to pressure me into signing up for a membership. I told them that I wasn't ready to sign up just yet, because I had no idea what my college class schedule as well as my work schedule was going to look like for the upcoming semester. But they wouldn't really take "no" for an answer. I had to repeat four times that I wasn't ready to sign up. Plus, their memberships are extremely pricey. I believe it was around $150 a month for an unlimited membership. They told me that this was including the "student discount." I never even ended up finishing out my other two trial classes that I had after this one, because they made me that uncomfortable. I decided not to join and to keep looking. I ended up joining Title Boxing Club. Their sales people were not pushy at all. They also cost about half the price of this place. If you don't respond well to pushy sales people, I would not recommend this place. Don't let them pressure you, and do what's best for you. read more

WORST ESTABLISHMENT EVER! Completely overprice for literally nothing. The coaches are very snobby and only pay attention to long term members. Oh and the management is awful. I have email 8 times in regards to canceling due to COVID-19 and medical issues (which I provided a doctors excuse) and they have completely ignored me and continued charging me. Ended up reporting them to my bank and the BBB. Next is my lawyers. Do not get sucked into this place with the "free first classes" because they are not free. The staff members are super supportive and help everyone in each class. When you go for your first class, you have a one on one meeting so they understand your purpose and goals. I am someone who has NEVER had a membership to anything even gym-related but I became a member immediately after my first class. Short and sweet: the workout itself is fantastic for building tone, muscle and burning fat quickly- I noticed changes in my body within 2 weeks. I have more energy, sleep better, feel better and look better. Simple. Going to "workout" is not something I dread or see as a chore but I genuinely am excited about and look forward to each day. Feeling nervous because it's been a while since you worked out? SAME. But on my first class (and each class I've now been too) the instructors help grade the exercises so you can continue to your comfortable limits without feeling isolated or unable to keep up. Furthermore, for your first time(s) during bag rounds you're paired with an instructor who breaks down the moves so you can get down the basics and form correctly without feeling pressured so you can eventually do the class combinations. Worried about commitment like I was? You may think you may only attend class here and there..but if it's not the endorphins, energy and mood boost that doesn't bring you back following each class i can guarantee that the community at ILKB Columbus will. The staff take the time to personally get to know each member and take real interest in your fitness goals-they will follow up with you throughout classes to ensure they are supporting your goals (i.e. weight loss, health, form, ass kicking, etc.) and the other members themselves are warm and welcoming. Community events, socials and gatherings continue to make the ILKB Columbus community connected and supportive of one another. Went to this place for the first workout, they were VERY pushy about trying to get you to sign a contract. Signed up then realized how bad I had hurt my wrist after the class and tried to cancel. They refused to give me back my $199 even though they said it was up to them to decide if I got my money back since they are a franchise. Also they think 35 classes for $800 is a student "deal". Save yourself the headache and go to a place that actually cares about their members read more

So, after receiving an email stating that iLoveKickboxing has tried to reach out 7 times, I felt the need to tell them why I will never be back. I bought a discounted package 3 sessions for $20 to TRY out their program. After my FIRST class, they forced me to stay and didn't want me to leave until I bought a membership. Absolutely not, I have done this once. I am a person that does not like to be talked into things. I can come up with my own thoughts and opinions. What really did it for me was when they started talking about my finances in front of the other people that I had just worked out with. The instructor then gave me attitude after her many taught sales techniques didn't work. She stated that she knew I wasn't into it and that I wasn't happy with the workout. I am so sorry if I don't want to WooHoo while I am punching and kicking things. I would rather give my money to someone who has my best interest in mind and not someone who just wants my money. read more
