I don't live in Bexley but I'm often met with friendly classmates and the teachers know my name. Parking is easy to find and the studio is clean, with ample sanitizers around. Often they have free protein bars for grabs... BONUS. The owner is friendly and has been responsive to issues I've had with scheduling. I do think a few upgrades would go a long way. For one, there is not enough equipment for each member in some of the fuller classes - there seems to be a shortage of 3lb and 4lbs weights. I'd LOVEEE new equipment to help switch up the variety of the class - like ankle weights, pilate rings or weighted balls. Just a thought. There's only so much you can do with body weight, a ball and 5 lb or less weights in a barre class. Most of the teachers are creative and great at adding variety but other times it feels a bit stale. I also noticed in the classpass app its says free towels and water. There isn't water or towels. There's a brita filter water pitcher in their back area inside of a fridge but I'm not sure if it's open to the public. I've been dying of thirst before and asked about water and was told to grab a glass from the cabinet and use that brita - I felt like I was at a friend's house asking an adult for a drink, lol. Anyway, a water cooler would be wonderful. A girls gotta stay hydrated to be well! Thank you Be Well for fostering a nice, friendly environment and having some of the best barre teachers around!

In my experience with yoga, its all about the yogi. And Addie- Grace is such a beautiful person, inside and out, and has the most calming and soothing voice. We got to try some of the equipment and the salt room. Focused Fitness is more of a personal Pilates studio. Get one-on-one workouts here. There are not many other places (none that I know of) that offer this type of Pilates. It is a neat concept for those who have extra money to spend on health. The salt cave was cool. It does leave you salty with a coating of white salt all over your clothes. It was relaxing. I would make the recommendation to have a light spa or ocean type music playing in the background if people want sound. Overall this little studio was really neat. They do offer massages that were somewhat reasonably priced. However, again for people who have to watch their expenditures the one-on-one fitness is a bit pricey.

The space is small, but houses a lot of cool looking contraptions/pilates machines; I'd love to learn their intricate purposes in an in-depth class! Anna, one of the instructors, greeted us and told us about Focus Fitness and how things are done around here. Things are done a bit different here: Instead of classes, they run private or semi-private times with clients/members as opposed to a general schedule of classes offered, you show up, do a workout and leave. Anna also specializes in nutrition, which is exactly what I've been searching for. Official first time in a salt spa! Three of us sat in the room for the recommended 30 minutes, which is basically equal to two days at the beach. Nice reclining beach chairs, so you can get comfy when you breath in the salt-filtered air. No ambient music playing, not sure if they don't have it playing for a purpose, which could be the case. This room is used for salt room yoga, so perhaps an instructor comes in with you, thus that's your form of sound. If there isn't music any set up, maybe a suggestions for clients that just want to sit and not do yoga. Just a thought, however. Two of the three recliners have heating properties, fyi. This was such an awesome event!! Completely informal, relaxed and totally hands on!! We literally were encouraged to try out whatever equipment that peaked out interest, and Anna and Dina gladly demonstrated telling the benefits. I have been taking classes at Balancing Owl Yoga for several weeks now. It was recommended to me…read moreby a friend as I mentioned I was looking for online classes. I began taking online classes during COVID as my studio pivoted when they had to shut their physical doors. Upon reopening, I had become used to both online and in person classes. The studio was less than 10 minutes away and VERY convenient. However, they were facing a closing and I'd also found fewer and fewer classes for me to take. At the peak, I was at the studio 5 days a week for classes. By the end, I only had 2 classes a week. I'm an ALL IN membership person. Will pay monthly fees to have full access. So what drew me to B.O.Y. was its online offering. In looking around at local studios, I find VERY FEW have continued to offer virtual classes. Unlike BOY who live streams just about all in studio classes, other studios maybe offer a couple classes a week - despite having LOTS of in person classes. Another thing I appreciate at BOY is the slower, less physical practice. I have an injury and am unable to fully participate in the power yoga I am used to. I also am getting older and have found the need to modify what and how I do yoga. I am finding great success in the gentle, slow and restorative flow - allowing me to really focus on the mindfulness piece and how each movement and breath feels in my body. The times of the classes are pretty good. Ideally, I want a 6 PM start. Most of the BOY classes I attend are 6:30 - still within my wheelhouse that I'll be sure and show up. Which leads me to the big differentiator. BOY offers all virtual class recordings for a 24 hour period following the delivery of the link (within a couple of hours of the class concluding). I MUCH prefer to attend a live class and have found it a challenge to get motivated to watch a recording. I'm a disciplined person when it comes to all other things, but I know when I register for one I'll possibly watch the recording, that there is little chance I'll do it. The friend that referred me thinks quite differently - so she takes advantage of the recordings. This is only the 2nd studio I've tried after moving away from my former home studio. The entry month deal is great and I highly recommend you give it a try if you have any interest in attending their classes. I may or may not return for a full membership. TBD at this point. Definitely need more research before making that decision. Which reminds me, I need to leave a review for the other studio I just tried online!!

The Pilates Reformer class was challenging, but not in a way that makes you feel overwhelmed or defeated. Heather is a fantastic instructor. She gives clear and motivating instruction. I really appreciated how she gives form and technique corrections, so you know that you are doing the exercises safely and correctly. The class size was small which I preferred as a beginner. I am already looking forward to my next class here!

cynthia, being 4 minutes late because of my uber and a slow learner bc of being a beginner and the…read moreanxiety and adhd (which i mentioned and apologized for) is no reason to be condescending to anyone. she was seemingly super irritated that my form kept reversing, but i was in a beginner class to be corrected and taught gently, (and that spring sound makes trying to listen hard sometimes too!!). it was so condescending i was actually having even more trouble focusing, which only made her worse as it progressed. at one point she said "and now we'll do something REALLY EASY which is put the box on the reformer" i went to move the box more towards the middle and she immediately assumed i was being stupid and wouldn't let me correct it for like a full minute. once i accidentally forgot to put my handle on the rung and the next time she said to do it, i told her i did already, she said no on the rung. i kept saying no i did and she walked over and adjusted it, from on the rung to still on the rung. it felt like she wasted more time on correcting things i didn't even do wrong than i did being late. i was so intimidated by her at the end of it i was wiping my machine down more thoroughly so she wouldn't be more upset, then she up behind me and say "ok ali! i think you've got it SPARKLY clean, you can stop" she would also whisper to the others (always initiating it from as far as i could hear) and there were those weird looks. kinda like weird mean girl behavior. it was the rudest i've ever been treated by an employee, bc i never do anything to warrant it bc again i have such bad anxiety. i was even being kind and smiling while being treated like that. my friend had to convince me to even write this. i made the first yelp review ive made in i think over 5 years because of it. idk what i did to make her treat me like this, i was 4 min late (due to an uber, not because of me) but i apologized profusely and got ready quickly, im a slow learner but very polite and willing to learn despite all of this, and wasn't rude or asking for any extra attention because again i was so intimidated by her & didn't wanna waste more of ppls time
