I tried GIVE Yoga for the first time last week and really enjoyed my experience. The instructor (also checked us in) was super friendly and personable. She instantly made me feel welcomed into the space, which I really appreciated. The room was super warm but did not feel overly hot and was comfortable for the hot yoga session I signed up for. We went through a moderate vinyasa that was the perfect way for me to jump back into a yoga class after it had been awhile. The instructor was great about meeting the class where it was at and providing a robust but not overly intense session. I enjoyed it and feel that the price point of $10 for a class is super affordable, especially for that area. Would love to return! read more

Hot Power Yoga w/ Brian Kirk I decided to try out GiveYoga this week through ClassPass. Overall it was okay, a solid 3.75-4/5. If i had to classify this experience, it's for independent yoga students that have prior experience and prefer a class that's more of a "headphones in and silent study" type of vibe. This particular studio I would say focuses on the aesthetics above all. So the rooms are nice, the bathrooms are clean, the welcome space is inviting, and the instructors are what you would expect. Good yoga studio, just not my cup of tea. I prefer a different yoga experience. read more

I visited here once when in the area via classpass for hot yoga. The studio itself is nice, though parking can be a little annoying right before class when everyone is arriving. There isn't really a lot so you park on Dunedin or Oakland Park ave, or High St if you can find a spot. I think they have a bigger room off to the left, but the lights were off or very dim throughout the whole space when I visited. The yoga room we utilized is to the right and in the back. Cubbies without doors are available to stash your stuff right before you enter the room on the left side. The room itself had high ceilings and was kind of long and narrow. The class was full--way too full for my liking, with other mats about 6 inches on either side of mine. The room wasn't SUPER hot, which might be a pro for some but not for me. I did get a bit of a sweat going by the end, but it wasn't the greatest work out I've had at a hot yoga class. The instructors phone also rang during class, and I wasn't super excited about the guidance through the flow. I'm not sure if I would visit again or not. read more

In town for a few weeks and needed somewhere to get my hot yoga fix... this studio is absolutely beautiful!! It's spacious, clean and organized. If I lived here I would purchase a membership. read more

I've given give yoga 5 separate try's and I'm honestly very disappointed. I'm somewhat new to yoga, 2 years of experience & when I moved here from Pennsylvania my teacher from my old studio recommended this place so I had a lot of hope it would be great! Don't get me wrong the building is beautiful and the whole facility is very nice but when it comes down to the classes and the teachers I was disappointed. I've taken 5 different classes with mostly different teachers and each time I got the vibe the teacher really didn't want to be there. All of the teachers i took class with never gave the opportunity to explain different options of poses or help students who were struggling. In all of the descriptions of the classes most teachers want you to be creative/curious and try new poses but the flows felt so generic each time, i never felt like i could. Maybe there were ways to be more creative but none of the teachers recommended anything to class. I also brought friends once and they had a really bad experience for that reason. I wanted to like give yoga so bad. This studio is great if you have many many many years of experience but don't expect to learn or grow if you are new or newer to yoga :( read more

great studio, great instructors, convenient location and class schedule. BUT......they overbook classes WAY too often. it pisses me off to no end that a class with 25 or so designated spots routinely ends up with 40+ people. how enjoyable is yoga when you cant even extend fully into a pose without hitting the person next to you. if I am going to be penalized and charged for missing a class then GIVE Yoga should give me a free pass every time they overbook. FIX THIS and I will fix my review. otherwise I will be looking for a refund and find a studio that wont prioritize profit over customer happiness and comfortability. there are plenty of yoga places that are cheaper and don't base their entire business models on overbooking classes. read more

Such a great space! Met a few friends for the easy like Sunday morning class. It's been awhile since I've been active (thanks quarantine and winter) so I wanted something low key to get moving. And this was perfect. The instructor would give edits if you wanted to change poses to be more difficult or easy. A friend goes a little more regularly and says other classes are more challenging so there is a span in skills. I was able to get a discount as a NCH employee, but there are a variety of packages. You pay before (had to play a bit of phone tag but staff is very friendly) and select a spot in class which is nice to know where you'll be before hand. Will definitely go back! read more

Let me start by saying, I am not a yogi and this was a private event. I went in thinking that this was going to be more of a 'lax/yin yoga and we ended up doing a flow. Leah was our instructor and I expressed that I was not a yogi and that I wasn't sure what I was doing. She was very good at explaining what your body should be doing in each pose down to how your your fingers and toes should be and where you should be looking. The studio was so cute and had everything you could need such as water, coconut water, protein bars, lululemon clothing, water bottles and much more. I had my own mat so I forgot to check if they have mats that you can use or not, most studios do for a small fee. The studio was heated and Leah's class was challenging yet I still got the stretch I needed. I will definitely be back. read more

This review is for their new German Village location. To e honest, just a so so yoga place. Zero to none amenities, no water, no towels, not sure if they have a restroom. And even using a mat, will cost you 3 dollars each time. I also did not notice a fan in the classroom. Its like 30 sweating human beings in there smelling each other's aroma... Aside from that, I didn't think the instructors were professional, helpful or inspirational. I participated in a entry level class and did not leave feeling refreshed and stretched like I usually do. I felt incomplete. I didn't think the class was any better than the ones offered in my gym. 100% honest. I don't hate the place. Although I do think it's over priced and offers nothing special. read more

I started my intense yoga journey at GIVE right as the COVID-19 pandemic began. Thankfully, GIVE quickly adapted, providing LiveStream classes to its members. Without GIVE, my sanity may have been lost. I practiced everyday and sometimes twice a day with the unlimited membership. They continue to LiveStream most classes which is a big plus right now, since class size in the Root HOT studio only allows twelve (12) students (COVID). The streaming audio is pretty good overall (most of the time), but they do not stream music as a result of it. I really like music during my yoga class, so if at home, I would play in the background. At the studio, it is silent unless you take the Yoga x Beats class. The instructors are top notch and amazing. The practices are consistently rooted in Baptiste Yoga, which I absolutely love, but it isn't for everyone. I hope to train in this style of power vinyasa flow. This studio's very skilled instructors really helped me change my mindset, lose weight, and have more calmness in my life within a very chaotic world. I like to breathe with the flow (super relaxing/grounding/needed) and the mantras/life sayings during class were extremely motivating/encouraging. It is hard to comment to the instructors friendliness as I started mainly with Live Streaming...how much individual friendliness can you exude virtually amongst total strangers. Once back at the studio, I found the instructors to be welcoming, encouraging, and friendly. I love GIVE and wish it were closer to my home. I tried the German Village location, which is closer, but it wasn't as heated and I didn't like it as well as the Clintonville location. Good pricing and nice extra programs (40 days, summer special, boutique sale in August). Cons: I did not care for last minute substitutions in the class teacher. I would sign up for a specific instructor depending on my personal needs on that day. All the instructors are great, but you always have your favorites! You, as the yogi, have to cancel three (3) hours before your scheduled class, whereas many studios are only two hours. You can't go wrong with GIVE, especially if you like a consistently HOT studio (90 to 95 degrees) and love power vinyasa yoga. I love GIVE. read more

Hate demoting a star, but I'm really bummed at the way they handled their pricing and package 'specials' over the holidays. I was SO excited when they sent teaser emails that they'd be offering 10 classes for $80, down from the $125 normal rate. I put a reminder in my calendar, I told my friends (and got them a few extra patrons). Turns out those classes purchased on Black Friday expired only 8 weeks after purchase. If you purchase 10 at regular price, you get an entire year to use them. Imagine my surprise when I received an email from the Studio notifying me that my unused classes would expire in 5 days. I had been SAVING classes to spread them out over time (stressful weeks, meeting up with my friend who goes there, etc.). Now I'm out roughly 5 classes and ended up paying a higher amount per class than the normal walk-in rate. Sadness. read more

Amazing, transformative classes. But so so expensive. Like DC/Boston not quite NYC expensive but spendy. This is flipping Ohio! The studio rent in Clintonville cannot be THAT high. Additionally I feel like yoga should be acessible to all. Sure you can do it at home but theres something about studios that offer (multiple) community classes in a week that feels more authentic and diverse and yoga-y. Or maybe I'm just cheap. So I've been to their hot yoga class a handful of times over thae past few years, usually on a whim. I love Pattycake Bakery down the street and eating vegan cinnabuns on Saturdays just makes you feel earthy and prepped to do backbends. The instructors are always friendly and they are willing to throw out modifications for newbies. Love the space but again, its prohibitive financially. So sad. read more

I love so much about Balanced Yoga--much of their staff is delightful, they give helpful adjustments, and they have generous spirits. Their $99/month is a great deal for someone like me, who practices 2-3 times a week. I have to say though, over the year I've been practicing here, I've noticed more and more of a "cool kid" vibe that infiltrates many of the classes, often perpetrated by the people who teach here, when they are the students. Sometimes it makes the experience uncomfortable or unpleasant--feeling like I need to move my mat so they can all sit near each other, giggling during class, and an overall camaraderie that is exclusive instead of inclusive. Feels a little bit like a high school cafeteria, but with more inversions. I'd hate to change studios, but it's becoming more challenging to be in spaces with people I really should trust (and some of them are GREAT teachers). I hope they read this and consider their behavior, or the manager talks to them about how they conduct themselves in the studio. read more

This is maybe the fourth yoga studio I've tried since moving here, it appealed to me because they had family yoga, I have two kids which is why it's so difficult for me to work on my yoga practice so I thought it would be a good fit! I had to convince my 9 year son to come, we went and it was RIDICULOUS!! There was way too many people in the class, they should've cut off how many people were allowed to be in the room, we ended up leaving in the middle of class. I am hoping to go back on my own for a class because the studio looks amazing and would like to experience a full class. But unfortunately after all that bribing and convincing my son officially HATES yoga. read more

Not sure when I reviewed last, but of my time here I still love this yoga studio. I still call it "Balanced" in my mind bc that's how I know & love it. I love the renovations they have done to the Clintonvillle Studio. A lot more room, and very open. Love this place! read more

I love my studio! Balanced Yoga has become a safe haven for me to grow in my yoga practice. The front desk people are vey welcoming and showed me the ropes after my first class (tour, where stuff is, etc). I did the unlimited month $59 new student pass. I have loved trying new classes that I wouldn't have tried otherwise. The yoga instructors are all different and have their own variety for each of their classes. I appreciate the diversity. The hot yoga room is on the same level as the main lobby while the other 2 studios are upstairs. You have to go outside to get to these studios. There is a front desk there as well. The studios upstairs are beautiful and offer a lot of natural light. Very relaxing. read more

Just wanted to add that apparently Balanced Studio DOES have deals for their loyal yogis at least 3 times a year so be sure to be on the lookout because it's pretty good. Also, I just got a Yelp deal for $25 off so woo hoo! read more

I didn't think I would like hot yoga, but Balanced Yoga has helped me to love it! My favorite classes are taught by Greg, Nicole, and Lara--they are challenging but at the same time, I know I can rest and go at my own pace as needed. If you aren't a hot yoga fan, they have plenty of other classes to try. The studio is clean and gorgeous, and all of the people I have met here are awesome. I have noticed lately that some classes have become way too crowded--there comes a point where it gets hard to focus on my own practice because I'm so worried about hitting my neighbor. Parking can also be a challenge. But, overall I love coming to Balanced to practice. If you are new to the area or are looking for a great yoga studio in Columbus, I definitely recommend this studio! read more

Since I wrote my last review of Balanced, they are now under new ownership and I have no hesitations giving them 5 stars. The new owners, Leah and Nicole, are both amazing and caring women who go above and beyond to care for their community. Balanced is very involved in the broader yoga community and in the city in general. The renovations in the studio are absolutely gorgeous and there is such a great variety of classes. Every teacher that I've had class with is fantastic. I haven't been in everyone's class, but in my experience, the instructors really foster an atmosphere of community and encourage people to not take things too seriously. I've practiced at studios where it feels way too competitive and I've been afraid of getting dirty looks if I fall out of a pose and mess up someone else's flow. Definitely not the case at Balanced. I have definitely found my yoga home in Columbus! read more

I used to go to yoga fairly often before I went back to school and really enjoyed Balanced Yoga. I had a couple of favorites for different reasons and this was my favorite for really friendly receptive teachers and students. I went back today for a yoga class because my boyfriend was encouraging me to get back to it (he likes the peaceful look on my face after I go). I found that the people and the teachers and staff are still really friendly and encouraging. The teacher was very positive and handled the mixed level class very well. She made a simple, efficient, hands on correction for me in a posture that I hadn't heard completely while explaining other things to the rest of the class with her clear voice. When I got out of class, the woman behind the counter was also very friendly. I feel these people are friendly because this is how they are... not because they have to be, because they want to be. Also there is great sunlight streaming into the second floor windows that hits the warm wooden floors. It's quite pretty. read more

I've been practicing yoga all over Columbus for 10 years now, and GIVE yoga (formally Balanced Yoga) has always been my favorite. The facilities are beautiful and they go above and beyond to make sure each person is comfortable. Always feel amazing walking out of class and will always try to return! read more

I have been to a lot of yoga studios over the years and GIVE is by the far the best in my opinion. They have a ton of different classes and times. I love the hot classes but there are non-hot available as well. My favorite instructors are Jenny, Darin and Raleigh. Prices are very reasonable. read more

When we moved to Columbus I paid the drop in fees to hit about every hot yoga studio and this one takes the cake! Balanced Yoga is a legit hot yoga studio with rooms that are properly set up for hot vinyasa, and the instructors are helpful and very welcoming. Some of the other yoga studios I tried were either very dirty and unsanitary, or their idea of "hot yoga" was setting up space heaters around the room. Balanced yoga has a wonderful schedule and a class for all levels! I am totally in love with this place! read more

This studio was just not for me. My first impression: the entryway is decked out with a lot of expensive merchandise, and the worker at the desk was taking a rental mat back from a guy (which you have to pay a rental fee for) and sell it to him for ~$150. Being off High Street, parking was very difficult and meant that we heard all the traffic noises while trying to zone out. Class was pretty crowded too. I did not go back after my 30-day new student pass ran out, and later was in need of a studio that offered parental classes anyway (which they did not.) read more

I had never been to a yoga studio before and found Balanced Yoga. The instructors are friendly and helpful and the class times are convenient. Hot yoga leaves you feeling relaxed and refreshed with a good workout. It took a few classes for me to get used to the temperature but now I wouldn't do yoga any other way. read more

Since my last review, BY has added a variety of new classes, aided in large part by the addition of a hot yoga studio. They have also increased retail merchandise and renovated the upstairs studio. Classes are great as ever, taught by some of the city's best teachers. read more

Trainer of my class was very good and everyone in class is serious about Yoga here. I thought it would be a piece of cake for me.. no! it was not so.. i ended up with stiff and sore muscles.. 3 reasons : I, me and myself.. I tried yoga after 30 years and was hoping to be as good as those who are doing it everyday past 2 or more years... I am very excited to be here.. amazed to see how yoga has been classified and americanized.. though I am in pain but I will not stop now.. I will go again till I get it! read more

I practiced in this studio last year and I must say that the owner, Donna Winters, is an inspirational person and a fabulous instructor. She does not just teach the poses, but she challenges her students to overcome personal fears (you want me to do what? a head stand in front of all these people..?). Also, her classes helped me to better engage in the present moment and become keenly aware of my body-mind-environment connection, which is what yoga is really all about. The only problem with this studio is one that I find with a lot of other studios: hours that for some reason are always hard to make. If you're looking for a great yoga studio in C-bus and can make their classes, Balanced is a good one to go with. read more

This is the first time I have ever taken yoga and I was a little nervous about looking like an idiot but the instructor does a good job of walking everyone through the poses and through alternative ways to do them to tailer to the experience level of everyone in the class. I am taking their prenatal yoga class right now and am glad that I signed up, its one of the cheapest classes offered in Columbus but they will provide you with all of the materials and the instruction and atmosphere are tops. read more

Balanced Yoga was my first yoga studio, and it was a great experience! I bought a class pass off of Groupon, and thoroughly enjoyed my month of yoga. Hot Yoga in particular was my favorite. The teachers make all the difference, definitely, but there are a few who are especially great. Unfortunately, I don't remember any of their names, but you'll know. You'll know. read more

My first time here was amazing!! The studio itself is so modern and lovely with tons of natural light. The staff was all extremely friendly and helpful. My boyfriend and I have done yoga together but never hot yoga, and we wanted to give it a try but were a little nervous. However, the instructor (Jenny) was fabulous and made the 75 minutes of hot yoga both relaxing and a great workout!! You do have to pay $3 to rent a yoga mat if you didn't bring your own, but I don't feel like that's a huge deal considering they are very nice and expensive mats that they let you use. I also appreciate that they charge $8 instead of $15 if you are a student and you show them your school schedule. The room was about 95 degrees but I didn't feel like it was sweltering, it just gave you a good sweat. She was upbeat, encouraging, and engaging and gave you ways to modify a position if it was too difficult. The room we had class in was dim and very relaxing, and she had the best music playing!!! I will for sure be coming back. read more

Let me start by saying that the new location is beautiful, but I was so unimpressed and confused by the hot class that I took. The instructor was one of the owners and her cues were unclear and I and a friend found ourselves looking around at everyone else to see where we were supposed to be. At one point, the entire class was in chair pose and Nicole asked us all what we were doing? Apparently, we were supposed to be in down dog...this was only one of the times we were all confused. The music was also strange...3 songs for the entire class and none of them were played at a time that made any sense. I would have rather not had any music than the confusing music that was played. And don't get me started on savasana...this is one of the most important parts of a practice and she talked through all of it. I would say I was way less than impressed with my experience. read more

I took hot yoga on Sunday evening a few weeks ago. The staff was very friendly, but the class was rather boring and very slow paced. Can't say I would make the trip there again! read more

I go to 4 yoga studios in town. Balanced yoga is really good. They have a wide variety of styles and their teachers are some of the best in town. I go at least once a week. My main complaint is I was 10 minutes late one day and they would not let me take the class I do yoga at other studios 3 times a week and occasionally people walk in late. As long as they are quiet it is not disruptive. read more

I'm a Class Pass holder, and I'm very glad Balanced Yoga is on my pass. In fact, I wish I could have more than three sessions a month here, because I really enjoy the classes I've taken. I really don't care for Bikram yoga while I'm doing it, but I feel so wonderful afterwards, that I actually make myself get up at 5.30am to attend Alexandria's class. I can't say enough good things about her class. It's quiet enough to really get into your flow, and the poses are always different. She's a very encouraging instructor who will gently guide you into your shape if you're not quite where you should be. I have a bunch of old riding injuries, so it can be hard for me to force something into place, but just a gentle touch, and I get the idea! I'm starting to get the hang of this hot thing!! The only reason I've marked down a star is because of how utterly lost I've gotten while I'm there. Unlike some other studios I've visited with my pass, there was no first timer's "here's where everything is" speech. Maybe I'm just super needy and paranoid (or maybe it's because I go early in the morning before my brain can really spell things out for me), but I don't want to put my handbag in the wrong place while I'm upside down and sweating. :) I love the community feel and the variety of classes at BY. I'll definitely keep coming! read more

Beautiful studio. Great location. There is decent street parking. What keeps me from giving Balanced a full 4 stars, is the fact that these people are not friendly. This isn't my home studio and by the lack of reception that visitors receive, unfortunately it never will be. I myself can be a little self involved, but to walk into a studio as a stranger & have no one even say "hello" is odd. Even for the chilly Midwest. It's a real shame. The heated classes in the Root studio are fabulous, none the less... read more
