Well, there is definitely a reason that these reviews are reflecting so negatively! I went on Wednesday during karaoke.And let me tell you, it was absolutely pathetic.Nobody was there. Rockstar karaoke was the one hosting, and this woman by the name of "babster", literally put in four people nefore me, recycled a list, even after a ten dollar tip. Needless to say, I took the ten dollars back, pulled my name out of the rotation and walked out, and left the measley ten people there to take care of her for the rest of the night. If you wanna go to a real crappy karaoke, where they don't acknowledge you as a person, and put in their own friends at their table many times over before you even get up to sing, this is your place! One star for rock star karaoke and definitely one star for club ninety.......I would never return to either one! I love the trend where night clubs are expanding their offerings to do more than just play "unce-unce" music on the weekends. You can take a paint class, sing karaoke, participate in a talent show, trivia or bingo. These are all creative ways to expand the audience beyond just the typical club crowd. I fall into the less-than-typical crowd that prefers early evening activities and a solid 9pm bedtime. So I won't likely be found on the dance floor at midnight, but I did attend a paint class at a reasonable hour of 6:30pm. While here, I got to order drinks from the bar, observe the karaoke toward the latter part of my visit and interact with a few staff members. The place definitely has the "bar" feel to it, and not an upscale one, at that. It's really divey, bordering on skeevy. I didn't feel unsafe, but I don't think it's a place I'd feel comfortable going on my own. The drinks were ok, I'd probably stick with a beer rather than requesting anything to be created...it's just easier that way. read more

Good ol' Club 90. We've been coming here off and on for years. It's a staple of South Salt Lake / Sandy and always delivers with a fun atmosphere and friendly, fast bartenders. Most recently, and the reason for the review, was a surprise birthday party for a best friend. We all arrived early and we were able to reserve a section of tables and decorate even though there was another party scheduled for the same night. It didn't cause any issues and they were happy to work with everyone. The food (Nachos, wings, etc.) and drinks came out fast and were delicious. The sound system at Club 90 is ridiculous in the best way. Bass that shakes you down to your balls and they played a great mix of music. The outdoor patio was nice to get some fresh air, for smokers to grab a quick smoke and is heated so you don't freeze, even though it was 30 degrees that night. Overall a great place and a fun time was had by all with good food & cold drinks served quickly by friendly waitresses. No complaints and we had a great time! read more

The DJ sucks... Plays too much Hispanic music. It's the last night club for 40 plus people to go and enjoy each other's company and time when your white folk. Even my Argentina friends complain about the music. The DJ has no taste in music. Time for a new DJ management of Club 90... The Hispanic people have their clubs downtown Salt Lake City they can enjoy... Us white folk don't have much any more. It was my first time here. They told us they had new owners so hopefully the new owners will be able to spritz the place up a bit. Currently it's Dive Bar meets 1974 Hippy Decor The best part was the live band. You have to do Social Distancing and dance by your table. Not on the table just by it. That was awkward to say the least but we danced once. The Service was great but my low review is due to the food. Now I know you don't go to a bar for the food. Every once in a great while I crave greasy bar food so I thought this would work. We had deep fried olives, jalapeño poppers and Irish Nachos. One Pina Coloda and four soft drinks and our bill was $80.00. The food was low quality and tasted like the grease it was fried in hadn't been changed since 1999. They do have a Patio I didn't go out though because that's where smoking is Allowed and the really drunk people were out there. In this time where there are lots of places to spend $80 to eat I don't think it will be there. read more

I was invited to go to Club 90 on a whim. I really don't think I would find myself going here if it weren't for the invite. It is not my typical place to go, especially for a bar or club. Yet, I am still really glad I went. For the record, I was convinced because I told my friend I would go if he bought me totchos--he shook on it, so there I was. Parking is a bit insane and I am not sure I fully understand the placement of the liquor store right next to it. It's like putting a Carl's Junior next to a Hardees. Is Utah DABC competing with Club 90? Anyways, parking kind of sucks because of the competition with the liquor store and the club. I suppose if you're going for a fun night out, your carpooling/taking rideshare services anyways. I happened to go on a Friday night where ladies were free. The person that brought me, was in the military so he got in for free as well. Quite a win-win to not have to pay any cover fees. Honestly, if I were to go back, I don't think I would pay a cover fee. It is not a good enough vibe and I get into much cooler places for free. We immediately went over to the pool area. There is also darts, but my group wanted to play pool. I gotta say, the pool tables look like they fell out of a truck and got ran over a million times. The sticks look like they were a doberman's best friend until last week. The equipment is very used and outdated. We decided to go sit down at the bar and eat a little bit. I got a liquid marijuana twice, from two different bartenders. They were two completely different drinks and I am not sure who was right. I thought liquid marijuanas were pretty universal but I was in a bit of an older bar that doesn't got the secret menu like that. We also got a shot of whiskey, which was not bad and there was at least some consistency there. I got a copper camel, which I very much so regret getting. Usually, they are good but this one was way too sweet. The one drink they did do right, was the sex on the beach. This drink was made perfectly and tasted great. The totchos were good but I actually ended up liking the loaded fries a lot more. Within Club 90, they have a few different places you can go to order a drink. They also have a dancefloor, which was very full. I was never interested in the dancefloor because it felt like the theme was "80s prom". They played classics but just nothing that great. For the record, I think 80s was the best genre of music, but I am not going to run to the dancefloor for 'Thriller'. Also, there were a lot of people commenting how weird it was that the bouncers were in full tactical gear. Apparently, it is because of a stabbing that happened at the bar, which is really too bad. However, I do agree that people walking around in a whole bulletproof vest is a bit off-putting. I believe Club 90 also has an upstairs but I never made my way over there. We were outside a lot--it is a nice area, decent size, and they have fire pits. I appreciated my time at Club 90 but I definitely think there are other places that are more my style. I may go back, if invited but I don't think I would plan a visit back or go out of my way to visit again. Still, again, really enjoyed my time there. read more

On an expected very busy night (St. Patrick's Day), why do you have a 20 + minute wait to get a drink? The line was not moving. Why do you have all your bar tenders attending to the long line of patrons AND making drinks for the waiters for tables, which was causing a HUGE delay. What kind of management is this? You should have a designated number of bartenders attending to the line and the rest catering to the table drinks. Completely mismanaged. read more

Ahhh c'mon now. Utah, really? I've had my share of clubbing experiences, but mannnn this one was a real special treat. We came here out of laziness and lack of motivation for driving downtown, and...it was alright (bc we had good company). It's probably more like 2 stars butttt there's no cover for military, so +1 for you there (kudos)... for everyone else in my party, $5 cover charge on a Saturday night with a crowd of oldies! I'm sure if I was 60+, this place would probably be more like high 3, low 4's but....I'm not. The layout's pretty weird. There's a side for karaoke, pool/chess/cornhole side, an upstairs (lesbian party night we went) and mostly being tables + chairs with waitress service (JUST LIKE A DENNY'S...that serves alcohol). There were loads of people...all that looked the age of our parents (and up). If you're single & ready to mingle & 20ish...you probably don't wanna come here...unless you're into that older age group (more power to you!). It was crowded though (and people who fit in seemed to have a really good time). It was super casual & nobody was dressed up (I'm talking cowboy hats & boots with leather jean jackets...those who were young wore t-shirts). Music was different... There were 4 beers on tap. We got whiskey and Shocktops ($5.50) all around, and even asking questions about upstairs, the bartenders were not knowledgeable of what was going on. He wasn't busy or friendly either. It was just blah. He got us our drinks, but he'd grab orange wedges with his bare hands even though he'd use the same hands to handle cash/card...iono, kinda weirds me out. Anywho, 3 stars for you. Thanks for the free pool table, giant chess set, and corn hole. There were waitresses walking around with test tubes of shots ($5/2). Twice she snapped at me ( after making a huge drink and food order for 16 people ) I'm not sure she really understands or enjoys actually working. Maybe she needs a new assignment/job. Waited for about an hour and a half never got our food order and the server came back to tell us the reason was they were apparently out of what we had ordered and the kitchen was closed so we couldn't order anything else. Really? you couldn't have said that an hour and a half ago when the kitchen was open? The staff needs to be replaced or retrained because they are not dong a good job! First off, I was told by one of my friends that this is a Jazz lounge, so when I discovered after ordering food, that there would be no Jazz performances, I was a little disappointed, but I decided to stick around. I ordered the fish and chips, and watched whatever performance/show they had going. The show was a little odd, but the food was cooked to perfection. As far as if I'd return, yeah, probably. I didn't leave stoked out of my mind, but I didn't have a bad night either. So..yeah.. I'd come back. Also pro tip: The dress is semi-formal I think. A lot of people were dressed in slacks and dress shirts, but no tie. I was wearing sandals, shorts, messy hair, and a t-shirt. Let's c.. so far it's been the go to place since Utah sort of got rid of their clubs or being back in Utah things have changed a lot. Friday night is ladies night BTW. Saturday is about a 5$ cover for ladies. Our waitress was bomb sadly forgot her name I think it was Britney lol but she got my party all Utah drunk hahah music was good they played a variety even has some Romeo Santos. To get a good seat calling ahead is a must you sort of get what you get which was ok. Oh big fans on the dance floor without them I would have died lol. In the past I had driven by Club 90 many times and had patroned other businesses around it, but I had never bothered to check this business out until election night 2016 when I attended an election watching party. We had a room to ourselves, which was large and open with a lot of windows, but I can't say that I got the full 'Club 90 experience' that I would have if I'd come in on a different night for a different reason. That being said... I wasn't very impressed... Our group had two servers. One for drinks and the other for food. When my companion for the evening and I arrived we were pretty much ignored by the drink server for a while. Other people who arrived after us were greeted and attended to before us, which was kind of awkward. However, the drink server wasn't very friendly in general and seemed sort of disgruntled and lacking in the customer service department. In fact, she rarely smiled the whole time. I felt like my presence there was just a bother to her and that she was extremely unhappy to have to deal with our group. The food server didn't come in for a while, which sucked because a lot of us were hungry and ready to order food, but she was friendly and had good customer service skills. Unfortunately, the food itself took a while to come out and honestly I've had better grub at Denny's for cheaper. The food was basically over priced, badly plated, diner food. My drink was on the low end of average, but at least I felt like I was getting what I paid for since the price was pretty low for it. The actual club area was pretty dead, but there was some karaoke going on, and apparently there is a pool table, chess, and some other stuff to do. There also seems to be an upstairs and there's a patio area. It seems like they have a lot of events available to attend in general for the highly bored masses to attend. If you're the type of person who likes places with a cheap bar-like atmosphere, who likes events and activities, or large open spaces where you can go with a big group of friends, and you don't care if the food is quality or if service is good then this might be the place for you. But my limited exposure was pretty lackluster and nothing about it prompts me to try experiencing this club on a regular night. The two start rating of "Meh, I've experienced better", definitely sums it up for me. If I want food the quality of Village Inn, then I'm going to go to Village Inn. The atmosphere of Club 90 and the fact that alcohol is available doesn't make up for the guilt of cheating on my favorite cheap diners. Sorry Club 90, but we just weren't meant to be. read more

Theres a blond bartender that works weekends, she is the rudest person I've ever dealt with! I asked her for a drink she completely ignored me and moved on to other people. I stood there waiting for help for 15-20 minutes. They were busy, so I understood that , but when I asked for my drink specifically she looked and me, walked away and helped a customer that had just walked up to the counter. Another bartender with dark hair working with her helped me every time and was super nice. I'll never go back and order from her again. read more

I came here with a few friends and at first... I was not into it. They were drinking and I was the DD... so that was the first thing. This club is definitely for the older generation but I will say that upstairs is a DJ and it was so fun! The bartender was the sweetest I have met! She suggested drinks and explained drinks! Assumed it was going to be the standard dance/club lounge - after paying the cover, I walked in and quickly found it to be a multipurpose college type hangout (2 main bars, stage, buffet type tables and chairs, and arcade games towards one end, all this sitting atop a concrete floor) - lesson learned; next time I will ook at Yelp before committing to a destination :) Putting that aside, I: - had great time with friends, and enjoyed rocking out to an 80s cover band - with few exceptions, the dance floor was full and very lively - got a pleasant surprise when the bill showed up; what we expected to be a $150 bill for the four of us, came in just over $80...my best guess is that cocktails were under $4 each. I had my first experience here last night and was sorely disappointed. My friend and I ended up here because we had tickets to a burlesque show that was being hosted there. After getting our tickets checked, we seated ourselves at a tall table and proceeded to wait...and wait......and wait for any of the servers to speak to us. After 15-20 minutes, I finally went up to the bar and asked if I could order drinks there, the bartender seemed shocked that we'd been waiting so long. He made our drinks and sent another waitress back to the table with us to figure out who was supposed to be serving us. Another 15 minutes passed before our waitress appeared, we asked for food menus and she told us that a completely different waitress would have to take our orders, apparently the food and drinks are handled by different people. The show started, but I was unfortunately blocked from seeing 75% of the stage due to the poor table setup on the floor. The lighting situation was bad and the sound situation was even worse, the poor performers were working with a pretty bare bones setup from the very outdated establishment. After waiting for 45 minutes, our food (two appetizers) finally arrived. The food was barely warm and honestly, pretty gross. The nachos were soggy and the cheese was barely melted. The fries didn't come with any dipping sauce and the chicken fingers were a touch soggy as well. Our waitress started appearing at more frequent intervals and we were able to keep drinks going. However, I suspect that this place waters down their drinks because my usually lightweight self left after the performance with no buzz, despite consuming SEVEN over-priced beverages. Honestly, I'm not sure I understand the appeal of the place. The drinks are bad, the food is bad, the ambiance is non-existent. I was even treated to a weird experience in the bathroom by one of the club's frequent customers. This place is a definite miss and seems to go over best with they type of crowd that still likes to get "shit-faced" well into their late 30's and 40's. read more

First of all, If you are a millennial, you won't find this place AMAZING, but if you go with an open mind and heart you will enjoy it just like anything else you do when you feel open minded. If you are 30-35+ you also might not find it "amazing", but will find it cozy. If you 40+ and you like to drink and dance with your babe, you are set. Especially if you like live music! When I went in I felt like I was entering a mix of a 90's club with the club from pulp fiction. It has this old school decor, that is not old enough to be vintage, but it's definitely not the "newest" trend at all. It's comfy. It's cozy. It's a bit old. It's chill. We went when a rock/country band was playing, so it was fun to see them perform, as well as seeing all these party peeps dancing it up. If there's something I learned here is that it's never too late to party and have fun. Drinks are very well priced (to not say cheap), free pool, free corn holes, and they serve food til late. They have a patio where you are allowed to smoke in, and there's plenty of seating space. When the band is not playing you will have music mixed by a DJ with surprisingly top 40s or big recent hits. There are multiple bars to order from, as well as many cocktail servers and whatnot. This was definitely not my scene at all, but I still managed to have a great time.
