I am so upset I could cry. I have been to this tailor once before to have some jeans hemmed and he…read moredid a fine job so I figured I would come here to have a bridesmaid dress altered. I literally took the dress out of the bag at the tailor and left it there. When I came back today to pick it up (and try it on) I noticed immediately what looked like a grease stain. When I asked if the tailor had steamed it or anything he replied with a "a little bit" (i now realize he must have started to steam it, stained it and stopped because it's only half steamed anyway). When I told him what I noticed, he immediately became defensive, crossing his arms and telling me that clothes come with stains all the time, how do I know it happened there and that I just didn't see it. When I told him there is no way that it could have happened anywhere else, that it was brand new, never worn and that I stood on his pedestal staring at myself while he pinned the dress and that there was no way it was there before, he told me "well who cares". When I said that I cared and that this was a bridesmaid dress for a wedding he said "then get it dry cleaned". I wasn't asking for anything from him, I didn't ask for my money back or even an apology but this is a horrible thing to happen and any reasonable business person who at least attempt to make me feel better or apologize or maybe even offer to pay for dry cleaning. STAY FAR AWAY

I needed 2 inches of material and maybe there was an 1/4 inch inside the hem to let out. The outcome was very grim, but he said he'd give it his best shot. I walked in with a dress and before I could even tell her my event is almost TWO MONTHS away, she literally shooed me out and said they had no time. This is not the first time either. My wife and I got married 2 years ago and her wedding dress has still been hanging in our closet…read more After doing some research, I decided to check out Haute Hamper. I reached out to Haute Hamper on their website and got a call back from Scott after under an hour. He introduced himself, explained his process of dress cleaning and preservation, and gave me some preliminary pricing. We set up an appointment for pickup shortly thereafter; very painless process. About a day after the dress was picked up, he went through the pricing with me. I admit I was a bit nervous at first because of the stains that the dress had formed just from improper storage, but after he started the cleaning work, Scott was quickly able to clean the stains and got to work on the finer details. A few weeks later, we received the dress in a beautiful display box, perfectly clean and preserved. The whole process was incredibly positive and pain-free, and the price was very fair for the work he did. I also sent in 3 pairs of my favorite Cole Haan shoes to be resoled and cleaned, and his cobbler did an outstanding job. I highly recommend Haute Hamper to anyone who needs wedding gown preservation or shoe restoration services.

The dry cleaning items had a quick turnaround, just a day or so, while the alterations took about a week (which is also quick). Everyone who assisted me was friendly and attentive. The dry cleaning was competitively priced, but I did feel that the alterations were a bit high. I don't have much to compare with, other than evening gowns, but I was surprised that taking in the waist on a pair of pants was more expensive than those gowns in the past. The payment system was a bit confusing as well. I'll admit, I did not notice the signs inside the establishment that indicated "cash only," so that is my fault, but the electronic invoice that I was sent made it appear as though I could pay with card online. The website also does not have clear indication about payment types accepted. In a day and age when not many people carry cash or have paper checks anymore, this could be a drawback for people utilizing this business.
