I don't have much to compare with, other than evening gowns, but I was surprised that taking in the waist on a pair of pants was more expensive than those gowns in the past. The payment system was a bit confusing as well. I'll admit, I did not notice the signs inside the establishment that indicated "cash only," so that is my fault, but the electronic invoice that I was sent made it appear as though I could pay with card online. The website also does not have clear indication about payment types accepted. In a day and age when not many people carry cash or have paper checks anymore, this could be a drawback for people utilizing this business.

But this cleaner turned down another blazer I brought in and said it couldn't be cleaned. The stains were permanent she said because it was a change of color to the fabric. Down the street, the other cleaner took that blazer for cleaning so I will let you know if those stains came out. OK, so the other cleaner improved it considerably and now it's wearable! I am so happy I brought it to them! But yes, there are two very faded spots that didn't completely come out. This cleaner also cleaned a sweater of mine but she made a note that it seemed prewashed since the zipper didn't align or something. OK, they want to cover themselves. But the sweater looks great after they cleaned it! Thank you! Another blazer she cleaned but checked it with her nail first if that stain scratched off. It was only yogurt or something so she took it. So I am scared they won't accept my things! It's like soup nazi over there! (suppose to be a joke) She also declined patches I need for holes on pants. So I inquired with the tailor down the street and they do patches for like $10. So I gave them a few pants I needed for repair! Glad someone else knows how to sew. A pair of pants was stitched at just 4 points, which caused my feet to hang up on the cuff every time I put the pants on, and causing the stitches to fail soon after. The cut was also uneven and not straight. On my second run, I had the sleeves of a sport jacket done and the stitching was just butchered. First, they tell me it'll be ready in 3 days. I go back in 3 days and I see it hanging on the rack, never being touched. So they tell me it'll be ready in a few hours. It's obvious they rushed the job because the sleeves come out completely sewn up, no time put in to re-do the button holes. When I bring it back to get fixed, it takes 3 days of stopping in and arguing with them before I ever get the jacket back. They cut so much material off the sleeves I can't even take it to an actual tailor to fix it.

I am a big fan of Hamilton Cleaners. They are an old school cleaner and have been around for years…read more It is one of the rare business where they know your name when you walk in the door. The owners Rick and Marie are exceedingly friendly and helpful and do top quality work. They also do alterations which I have been very satisfied with (shortening pants in my case). They are one of the few cleaners who offer "Chinese style" shirt cleaning. This means that instead of all of the cardboard and plastic junk that most cleaners give with a laundered shirt which wastes paper and causes your shirts to take up more room in storage, the shirts from Hamilton are packaged with a bag and a thin paper strip. This is better for the environment and saves on storage space. You need to ask for this service. As far as how they handle the clothing, I will give an example. My shirts are made in England where genuine mother of pearl buttons are used by the better makers as opposed to plastic. Prior to going to Hamilton, these buttons were broken regularly. Since I started giving Hamilton my business, I have not had this problem. Hamilton is used to handling expensive clothing and know how to properly take care of quality clothing. I recommend them whole heartedly.
