Clocked rocks! 1) It's BYOB and you just happen to be next door to a bar with to-go beer, so that is convenient; 2) TATER TOTS; 3) yummy soda flavors. They have all beef hotdogs and a huge burger selection....the only, only complaint I had is that when I was there they forgot our tatertots.....they arrived after our meal....like after we were done eating it. This place is located in downtown Athens. It looks vintage/hipster inside. If you're looking for a more upscale burger place than McDonalds, then this is your place. The burgers are good with lots of variety. There are vegetarian and gluten-free options as well. I had the bacon and blue cheese burger and it was hands-down one of the best burgers I've had in a very long time. Very nicely seasoned, tender and cooked perfectly. The onion rings were very good, not greasy and a nice tempura type crust. French fries had a great potato taste and tasted fresh cut. Also, the lemonade was some of the best I've had in a restaurant. Dope Vibes with the TV playing classic Elvis movies in the background and retro movie posters hanging on the walls. The service is great especially the bubble gum they give you in the end! And of course the combinations of burgers you can try with the crazy shakes are awesome! Wasn't sure how I felt trying the PB&J Shake but it was awesome! Been going here since I was in college (over 15 yrs) and we still enjoy it. Definitely go here for the burgers. They have a wide variety of specialty burger options or you can build your own. They cook them to a medium temp, which I believe is how burgers should be served. Tater tots are awesome, and the shakes are amazing. Service is usually fast and friendly with seating inside and out. The decor is like no other and the looped outer space movie playing on the tv is odd but fitting ( I still don't know what it is or why they play it). clocked is awesome. from the tater tots on the menu, to the imported beer (czechvar, i'm looking at you) and the atmosphere...there's nothing not to love. even the art on display is usually worth at least two trips. the staff is generally few any time of day--service times when it gets packed can be a bit much. show up early if there's something going on nearby (40 watt, the morton...the west side of downtown). also, this is one of the best places to eat dinner before heading over to town & gown/athens community theatre--generally isn't as crowded as the grit tends to be. read more

Went here on Saturday, post the game vs. Buffalo. Had a chocolate peanut butter shake and also decided to go out on a limb and get a peanut butter bacon burger (not pregnant, just like peanut butter). Anyhow, after ordering the experience was just bizarre.. or some would characterize it as gross. Let me preface my story with the fact that the kitchen is pretty open to the layout of the restaurant and the grill/flat top is very visible to customers especially if you're seated at the bar. So, here's what happen (no joke); this Chewbacca looking guy who's manning the grill places peanut butter on my burger with his BAREHANDS, then bacon in same fashion, then places the lid over the burger to commence the melting process. He then proceeds to lick his hands and afterwards wipe them with the nearest towel. COMPLETELY OBLIVIOUS to my sight line or that working at a restaurant and preparing food for others would require even the slightest bit of regard for cleanliness.. continues to cook the burger and actually makes eye contact with me. Long story short - I was a little buzzed having just gotten back from the game and also hungry as hell / in a hurry to beat raffic on 78..so I ate about half of the burger. the waiter asked if anything was wrong with it, I said "no"... in any normal circumstance I wouldn't have eaten the burger, and maybe have made a bigger deal about it.. but this was the perfect storm. Anyhow, I guess I write this review with the intention of forewarning any future patrons of the sloppiness of the kitchen staff at this place...not much else. First time in downtown Athens and was in dire need of a hamburger. Thanks to the trusty Yelp app we found this spot. Small store front atmosphere with a mix of hipster and slacker college feel thrown together. Ordered the sweet potato fries which were outstanding as all the reviewers suggested but they arrived way before our burgers. I opted for the South Street burger that was cooked perfectly but the toppings made it because the burger had no seasoning plus the whole thing became a little sloppy buy the end. Wife went with a Bacon cheese burger which was also bland plus it came with condiments that she requested NOT to have on it. There is really nothing special about the food this place is serving up and maybe it's just a cool place for the college crowd but Five Guys would of satisfied our hunger just as well. This is my favorite burger place, and I generally hate eating burgers. The ratio of meat-bun-condiments-other toppings here is perfect for me (I hate when meat makes up more than 50% of my burger or when all I taste is meat). My favorite is the Friendship Burger. I've been here twice since becoming a vegetarian, and although I don't think their veg options beat the burgers (which is a rare thing for me to say), I'm satisfied with the black bean burger and happy hummus. The black bean burger does taste really bean-y, which I don't really dig, and the happy hummus tasted really vegetable-y, but I prefer that over the bean-y taste. I love their tots and sweet potato fries. I usually go during dinner, so the wait gets kind of long. The one time I had a milkshake (I think it was pumpkin pie?), I enjoyed it. The consistency was exactly how I like it: I could drink it through a straw without being forced to use a spoon, but it wasn't watery. But not so amazing that it left me with any outstanding memory. read more

I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 because everytime I have been before has been good, but this last time was a let down. First off, $4.25 for 5 little-overlooked-greasy onion rings?!? That was a rip off. Their burgers are really good, I give them that. The waitress this time took her sweet time at checking on us and even made us wait 15 more minutes after we told her we were finished before bringing us our check, which she never did, I had to go up to the counter to get it and pay. This place could do much better. I'm not sure I will ever go back. Many more places around to get a great burger in my opinion. read more

Best burgers and tater tots ever - I crave the food of this place as comfort food. Only downside is small space and service can be really iffy - sometimes good, sometimes not. Haven't been in about a year though, so maybe it's improved. As long as you have the time, enjoyable company or a good book, though, sometimes it's worth it no matter how the service is. read more

Clocked was the first restaurant I ever visited when I first moved to Athens. I have visited through out my years here and enjoyed their greasy goodness. But the past 3 times I have gotten take out the guy at the counter ( I assume he is the manager) has been very unwelcoming. He would just place the food in front of me and get the change saying as little as he can, like I was bothering him. I always tip 20%. This time I handed him the tip and without a word, snatched it out of my hand. The whole time keeping this " I hate life"look on his face...That was the last tip you get from me clocked. I love the Cajun tots and the burgers are pretty good. The Ultraman movies running on TVs around the restaurant give the place a fun retro feel. Where this place falls flat is in the laughably bad service. The place frequently closes before the posted hours and staff will be rude to insure you don't sit down if they plan on leaving early that night. The food often sits behind the counter for longer than necessary because the staff is prioritizing some other duty. Almost everyone I know has had a bad Clocked experience and many of them are service industry at other Athens restaurants. If you're drunk, looking for cheap bar food, and don't mind bad service then this is one of the late night options. Otherwise, it's not worth it. read more

My wife and I took several of our students here while we were in town for JanFest at UGA. My burger and onion rings were great along with everything else I sampled from others. During our meal the waitress was courteous and quick to refill drinks. The only problem I encountered was our waitress saying loudly that "she knew that she would get stiffed" when she thought we were already gone. I always make sure my students tip at least 15% and I always tip 30% when I subject my students on waitresses. She was well taken care of. Sorry I didn't double my check when I tipped you. read more

Words of warning: avoid Clocked at all costs. At first I went on the suggestion of a friend, who told me it was the best burger place in town. I've since been back twice, and regretted it each time. The service at Clocked is slow, and their waiters are careless and often seem to be, well, "distracted." The last time I was there not only did it take nearly 40 minutes to get our food (when we were 2 of the 5 people at the restaurant), but twice did our server give us the wrong table's food. When I finally got my food I was surprised to find multiple hairs in my chili. Disgusting. Not only that, but they refused to refund my purchase, despite their poor service and hairy soup that I stopped eating once I found the hairs. A different time when I brought my mother we asked for our sandwhiches with no mayonnaise, which to them apparently means extra mayo. When we sent our sandwiches back, not only did it take 20 more minutes but they had put mayo on them...again! Again we tried to leave at this point, as I am allergic to mayo and couldn't just scrape it off, and again they argued with us and even yelled at my mother for wanting a refund. NEVER, EVER go to Clocked. Stick to 5 Guy's or anywhere else, really. Athens is full of too much good food to be wasting your time at an overpriced, slow, and dirty burger joint. read more

First of all, I used to be a server at Clocked, so I am completely honest when I tell you that the service sucks (very slow). Of course, I did my job well (and got tipped on the side for doing well), but the kitchen seems to lag on their service. I think the food is good (unhealthy, but yummy)! If only the management could get its act together and make their kitchen staff and servers work together, the servers would get better tips (b/c their pulled... and be happier people) and the restaurant would get so many more customers. I am 72 years old,the best Burger I've ever had was at Clockeds over the top the BEST. There were 5 other people ( first timers )all were most empress by the burgers. They ordered versus types.I think the fresh hand patted meat makes most of the difference. Clocked was better than I expected - we were looking for a simple lunch in Athens on a Sunday and not having a ton of luck figuring out what we wanted, what was open, etc. So we ended up at Clocked feeling a bit out of sorts anyway, but that was pretty quickly cleared up with a pitcher of Bell's Two Hearted Ale (yay for pitchers! Yay for Bell's, which I still can't get in northern CA!) I didn't find the food particularly exciting, but the burgers and salad were good, I appreciated all the options for toppings, the outdoor seating was great, the service was quite friendly, and the bathrooms were clean.
