I've been bringing my cutie pie to this grooming establishment for over a year now, and unfortunately each visit seems to come with an attempt to upsell additional services. Almost every appointment includes recommendations for add-ons like deshedding shampoo, which increases the overall cost. Today's visit was especially disappointing. I was told for the first time my dog has dry skin and they proceeded to point it out, though it wasn't clear what solution they were leading into--possibly another added service or product recommendation. Then I was told my dog had "a lot of matting" underneath her undercoat. They showed me the area, and honestly, it did not appear severely matted at all--nothing noticeably different from what she's had during previous grooming appointments with them. The owner continued explaining they weren't sure how long brushing would take before shampooing and because of that there "may" be an additional $25 charge. The uncertainty around the pricing was frustrating. I came in expecting a simple shampoo and haircut, but was quoted $115 with the possibility of additional charges depending on brushing time. The owner even suggested I take my dog home, brush her myself, and bring her back--which I found surprising. On top of that, I was told pickup wouldn't be for another 4 hours. To me, that feels excessive and seems tied to taking on too many dogs at once. If my dog is already staying for that amount of time, I struggle to understand why there may still be extra charges added. What's most disappointing is the amount of surprise fees and added services, especially as a long-time loyal customer. Every pet owner I've spoken with--many with the same breed--typically spends around $60-$70 for grooming. Also during our conversation another customer came in and waited with his dog , when clearly on their door it says one customer in store at a time . The owner should have made that clear as I felt uncomfortable all while another customer stands there listening in. Upon my arrival, there was another customer there with his dog and I patiently waited outside Needless to say, just be aware that during visits, additional services may be recommended that can significantly increase your final bill. -- A disappointed loyal customer read more

Brought my giant pup in for a nice clean bath and grooming after 4 months of no showers post his surgery. The appointment was very easy to make and the lady was accommodative with my schedule. The ladies at this grooming place are the sweetest, so gentle, patient and great with dogs. I loved their demeanor and professionalism. My pup came back clean, smelling and looking like a million bucks with his bandana and holiday treats. Definitely coming back here for his next bath! read more

A few days ago I brought my dog here for a haircut. They usually do an okay job but I guess this day they were busy/rushing. I wish they would have just asked to reschedule on a day where they had more time. When I walked in they stated that my dog had knots in her hair and would cut the hair shorter I didn't mind because I understood her hair was a little long. However when I received my dog back she literally almost had no hair left! On top of that they decided to leave all the hair on her ears still but completely skinned the rest of her body. Not to mention I paid 90 dollars for them to shave my dog bald which I could have done for free at home myself. I was very unhappy. But i didn't see my dog until I paid. I will attach photos of her the day before grooming and after. read more

NOT RECOMMENDED....READ THIS, THEN FIND ANOTHER SALON: First, I had made an initial visit to Clips N' Snips for bathing our Lab. Staff advised me that I must first produce a Rabies certificate. I then showed them the metal Rabies tag that is always attached to our dog's collar, issued by the City of Clifton. SURPRISINGLY, the salon would not accept the metal tag as proof of Rabies vaccination! I was then asked to produce the original Rabies (paper) certificate prior to her being bathed. I returned home and emailed the Rabies certificate to the salon requesting that I be called to confirm receipt of same; THE SALON NEVER MADE THAT CALL. I then returned to the salon, keeping an early afternoon appointment. Note that, in the interim, the salon sent me several text msgs indicating that I would be billed if I were a NO SHOW! While at the salon, I attempted to hand a paper copy of the Rabies certificate to staff who refused same stating that "We don't keep paper here....". I was then showed a document that contained an extremely lengthly paragraph; clearly a form to remove all liability from the salon in the event of the pet owner attempting to file a claim! At first, I was uncomfortable with the idea that potential harm could occur to our dog; I eventually agreed to accept the form as she did need the bath. At this time, staff was ready to take my dog in for her bath. I mentioned that I would wait in the salon. However, I was told that their policy prohibits pet owners from waiting in the salon while the pet is in their care! All of this had quickly become unacceptable for me. Leaving my dog with a groomer is no different than leaving my 3 YO Granddaughter alone with the doctor! Not a single chair or platform for sitting existed in the salon. Staff indicated that Covid19 was their concern. I offered to retrieve my CDC vaccination card from my car to show proof of vaccination; they refused to see it and asked me not to wait in the salon! At that juncture, I asked that the consent form be destroyed and that I decided I would not be leaving our dog with them based on all of the restraints and conditions shown to me by Clips N' Snips. I also indicated that I intended to write a review for the purpose of alerting other pet parents of this experience. With respect to the "favorable" reviews, I am hesitant to believe their validity as a good amount of the verbiage contains details that only could have been written about if the pet owner witnessed the grooming. Additionally, look carefully at the posting dates for other reviews as there are barely any that were written and posted this year. read more

Do not bring your pet here, very rude people. DONT BRING YOUR CAT HERE!!!! Very unprofessional, cannot be around animals. Costs 100 dollars for a shave, ear clean, and nail cut. Fine, The horrible lady called when he got nervous and asked for another 40 dollars to for them to get another person to hold him. Saying we cant shave him we need to 40 dollars to continue. So i said fine we wont shave him bc i dont want to upset him. She DID NOT mention the fact that she already started shaving him and did half his body unevenly and called it a butt shave. Excuse me? And failed to mention at pickup and the phone what he looked like. Verbatim says" oh he just looks a little silly he got his butt shaved" SILLY? I did not pay and bring my cat to leave looking "silly." I call back later and she wants to give me next available appointment to fix her disgusting mess. My other cats appointment was yesterday, and i wish we just never took him too. Their haircuts are just bad. I waited 2 months for this appointment, im very disappointed and angry and her attitude was horrible. I cant believe these people are in business. If i could give zero stars thats what they deserve. Then proceeds to have a screaming match with me on the phone. Save your money, time, and your pet being traumatized by these people, and just dont go here theres better places and definitely not worth the wait. Reply: you were not clear in any way shape or form. Professionals would not allow any pet to leave looking like this, you did not say you started shaving him, did not give your professional opinion that you should continue you just asked for 40 dollars to continue. so dont even. If you did, we would not be here now, he would have been shaven and it wouldve been over. And please with my other cats cut? I waited for 2 months for this appointment, what do u want me to do not get him groomed after waiting 2 months? Please. And i would not have been even raising my voice with you, im usually very calm and collected, but YOU'RE attitude and very passive aggressive tone set me off. Please check yourself. I did not disrespect for no reason. You were the disrespectful one and yes you should get shut down if you cant communicate and be CLEAR with your costumers. You charged for a butt shave and an ear clean. Look at the picture and tell me are you proud of your work? Yes very dumb. read more

I brought in my puppy Olivia for a puppy trim and bath. She was well taken care of and looked adorable afterwards! It only took about two hours so it was also a great turnaround. I don't usually write reviews but I wanted to share that the groomer noticed that my puppy had a waxy build up in her ears and suggested that I go to the vet. Turns out she had an ear infection! That eye for detail and concern for my puppy's wellbeing won me over and I will definitely bring Olivia here again. Highly recommend. Thank you so much Clips N Snips for taking care of my Olivia! read more

Murphy still gets his haircut here, ever since he was a puppy. He has only ever been professionally groomed here and there is a noticeable difference. It took hours for him to adjust to a complete stranger grooming him. Now, we call ahead and take him for the afternoon and he's good to go. The staff is very friendly and must be very attentive, since admittedly, my dog is a bit of a diva. He's not the easiest when it comes to nail trimming and we're thankful that they are so patient here! They usually send him home with a bandana or some sort of accessory, looks very cute after his grooming! I love the oatmeal-type smell he has afterward as well, it lasts even long after he's left the salon. read more

This was our first time using this groomer and we are very happy with their service. I just picked up my French Bulldog and she looks and smells great! They gave her an oatmeal bath, cleaned ears, and trimmed nails. She has very sensitive skin so they mentioned the oatmeal bath. Price was very reasonable. The only FYI... they don't accept dogs with vaccines outside of the US. Our dog came from Russia, but her most recent vaccines were done in America. read more

What a great find! My son found this on Yelp & they did a great job on his dog & I've been here twice now & am very happy! It's not a dog washing factory like other groomers- it's a warm, friendly place whose workers are true dog lovers! My dog gets nervous going anywhere and everywhere but the staff is always friendly and try's to calm him down. Wow! Found this place here on yelp and I can't rave enough about it! Lola is 5 months (with rapidly growing fur) SHES also a westie! It was important to me to find a place that knew how to groom westies. Lola isn't a show dog or anything but we did want her to look like a real Westie! (We've seen some botched grooms) anyway. It was so easy to make an appointment and the staff here LOVE dogs. They came out to meet our baby and give her lots of kisses (pretty sure she didn't even realize we left) we told them what we wanted, they gave input and three hours later we had our girl back. She looks PERFECT! Clips n Snips did such a great job and Lola seemed pretty comfortable with them. We found our place and never looking back! See photos for before and after! read more

Today was my first of many trips to come to this outstanding establishment. I have a massive German shepherd that thinks he's a baby and whines at the sight of a brush. He is almost impossible to bathe and do groom. I took him today and immediately felt at home. Luz, the groomer, was very knowledgable of dogs and extremely comforting to Toby. I wish I could give this place more than 5 stars for they deserve a million. I'm new to NJ and was looking for a good place to get my anxiety prone maltipoo groomed. I found this place on yelp with all its great reviews and I was not disappointed. My Khloe was so matted but Sanae worked wonders on her. When I came to pick Khloe up she was so beautiful and smelling so good. With all the matted hair on Khloe I was expecting the worse because Sanae told me she might have to go really low and I didnt want Khloe cut low. Sanae told me she would do her best but she did better than her best. Khloe was absolutely beautiful. I will definitely be back here. Khloe was very happy when I came to get her loving on Sanae. The entire atmosphere and energy in the place was awesome. Thanks Sanae you're the best. And please forgive me if I spelled your name wrong. read more

I took my dog Coco for grooming on the 11th of May. My previous experiences had been good. Only had a suggestion this day, not shave so close at the genital area. Last time it was awful. My dog had razor burn and was very uncomfortable for days. The lady was not friendly. Asked me to take off his harness and leash, which I did. Then I see a woman come out to pick him up with a dirty leash, Places it around his neck in a very nasty way. I never put anything around his neck. He's not used to it. So he gets agitated and obviously it bothered her and nastily pulls on it very hard and drags him him inside. I think this is abusive. I did not say a word, but I was fuming when I left him. This was done in my presence. I am concerned by the negative moody attitude which lead to the mishandling of my Coco. I wonder how my Coco is treated when I'm not there, during the many hours it unfortunately takes to groom him. It took 4 1/2 hours this last time. I know,, he's not the only appointment. Still, I find it excessive. Very disappointed! Nevertheless, I paid and tipped. Do not know if I'll be back. Myrna T. read more

Go here for kind, gentle treatment of your pup. My dog Jace is a 65 lb rescue and very nervous. Even a car passing can be too much for him. They were so sweet, loving, and went beyond the minimum standard of care. First off, they make sure all the dogs who come in are up to date on your shots which was awesome. Then, the professional standards for bathing, clipping, and drying were high. They took the extra time to blow dry him incrementally because of his nerves. My mother is a physical therapist, and they have often held him for a bit extra so she could have time to pick him up, for no charge. These are good people, come here. First time here and I'm very pleased. They offered different options of treatments, like pumpkin spice. LOL, I went with Argan Oil because I'm afraid if I picked pumpkin spice I would eat my baby right up. He smells wonderful and am happy I went with the Argan as his coat is super soft. The girls were also very sweet to him. When I got there to pick him back up, he was just roaming around with them like he owns the place. They send you a text a few days before your appointment to confirm and also call twenty minutes before they were done. Super cute place and very clean. They sell little outfits and also have baked goodies. They put a bandanna on him and also gave him a Christmas goodie bag with little treats and a toy. They won us!!
