I'm sure one of the owners is expecting this... But I made an appointment for a full groom for my dog. My mom picks him up and tells me they didn't cut his hair. I double check to see if I made the appointment for a full groom and I did. I get on the phone with the employee that was supposed to cut my dog's hair. She tells me a full groom doesn't always include a haircut and that I needed to be specific on what I wanted... I say all full grooms include haircuts...that's what a full groom is. She says not necessarily... She says that my dog's hair is too short to cut. I respond that I've taken him to various grooming salons, and they all have all given him a haircut. She says she's trimming him as a courtesy...after my mom had already told me that he didn't get a haircut. I called the next day and speak to her again. I asked what a full groom included and she says haircut, bath ear cleaning, etc. So I asked if I requested a full groom why didn't my dog get a haircut? She says she changed it from a full groom to a standard bath because she saw his hair wasn't long enough. I asked if they usually change the service without asking the owner. She's like yeah if we see that they don't need a full groom...which makes no sense!!! I have never gone to a grooming salon that does anything like this. Horrible service!! One of the owners has the worst customer service and blatantly lied to me multiple times in our conversations just to cover her ass. Never going back here again and if anyone does I guess be firm on you wanting a haircut for your dog....not sure if its worth it! When I'd first started being my dogs to Furrs & Purrs, it was a pleasant shop with consistent staff but has since transferred owners and staff quite frequently for the past few years. My most recent visit with my 15 year old pup resulted in me picking him up with blood on his paw from a cut. When I'd asked what happened (because they weren't going to volunteer info) it was said that groomer accidentally cut a wart. It's no longer safe for him to return there and I'd caution pet owners to visit - especially when a newly remodeled Petco is less than 10 mins away that also has proper vet services. When I started taking my ShiPoo to David from the time he was 4 months old. Loved the care and cuts. Now under new ownership. When I made the appointment they assured me they had David's files. Well I was not pleased with the cut (not enough off his body). Was told to bring him back. When I did I explained to just take more hair off his body. I have been going to Furrs N purrs for over 10 years and have always had an excellent experience. Since it is starting to get warmer, I decided it was time for my Cavalier King Charles to get his puppy cut. When I called to make the appointment, I was surprised not to hear David's voice. David was the owner and who I had been dealing with all this time. I left a message and received a follow up phone call a few minutes later from Mario. He explained that David had retired and sold the business to him and his wife. To be perfectly honest, I was a little nervous leaving my baby there, as I knew nothing about them or their work as a groomer. I thought about it for a minute and then figured David would not sell his "baby" to just anyone and I am sure he selected the proper people to carry on his legacy. Well I made the right decision. From the "curbside" drop off to the level of detail, I could not have been more pleased. Becky was Prince's "hairdresser" and she was awesome! Prince came out looking years younger and was sporting a tie! Becky explained that since it was her first time working on Prince, that she was really taking her time so that Prince would trust her. This is the kind of person that I want to leave my dog with. Somebody that won't just groom my dog, but that wants to foster a relationship with him. Considering all the horror stories I've read and heard about people taking their pets to be groomed, I wanted to make sure my Shetland Sheepdog puppy, Luna, was going to be in good hands for her first experience. David was so warm, genuine, and professional from the moment I stepped in the door. He's a wealth of knowledge and made it clear that he is more than happy to spend the time and share it with you. I also appreciate how he doesn't try to push you to purchase anything. Although it was only the first encounter, I also felt that David was quite honest in his suggestions - he wasn't trying to sell me things just to make money off of me, he gave me suggestions because he thought they would benefit Luna and myself. For example, one of the services I requested for Luna was a flea bath, because my mother wanted the peace of mind, even though it was pointless because Luna was on NexGuard. Finally a place that actually grooms you dog! Owner David is very involved and provides you good free care tips I went to 2 other groomers and they charged me the same $$ for shampooing the dog. I have a mini schnauzer and David plucked his ear hair (there was alot because the other groomer did not do this) and trimmed his nails. David was the first groomer who got my pug squeaky clean and did an amazing job de-shedding her. I used several groomers in the area with very mediocre results, however the biggest concern was that the dog would be so anxious that she would literally be jumping out of the sunroof on the way home. I felt so bad for her that I stopped taking her for regular grooming. Now, today was a totally different experience-not only she came out silky and smooth ( honestly, I had no idea her fur can be that nice;), but she was happy as a clam. Best experience I've ever had. What wonderful customer service. I called and asked a million questions and the man was so patient and friendly. They really take into consideration the animals. He told me they would stop immediately if anyone felt the animal was stressed and not charge. When I went there I was worried. I have a long hair cat who is very scared of everything. I needed to shave him bc his bum was dirty when he used the bathroom. I was looking at spending $100+ and I knew it. Everyone told me to get a lion cut so that's what I was going to do. So when I went in the man asked me exactly what I was looking for and I told him about always cleaning him after using the bathroom. He said he can just shave the bum and it will be less money and the cat will be put through less stress. I thought how amazing and idk why I didn't think about this before. So when shaving the rear he also noticed a bit of matting under the legs which he took care of as well. For nail clipping and to shave the bum it was only $35 and we were in a out !! How wonderful this experience was I will definitely be back. The staff was so friendly asked many questions about what I wanted exactly so I received exactly what I wanted! After calling multiple places to see if I could get my girl Dorothy (a Maine coon) in for a last-minute haircut/dematting/nail trim, David was recommended by someone on a Facebook group I belong to. It was nice that he actually answered the phone when I called instead of having to leave a message and play phone tag like most groomers. He asked thoughtful questions, sprinkled in some humor, and booked her for a 9:00 appointment the next morning. He didn't want to delay it because she would be "uncomfortable" due to the matting. I picked my cat up after a couple of hours, and she was calm and completely free of knots. David also recommended a different comb than the one I was using because it would be more gentle on her skin. Overall great service and experience. read more

I could not have been more upset and disappointed. I cannot speak to their dog grooming, but do NOT take a long hair cat to this establishment. I have had my 7-year-old Maine Coon groomed countless times over the past six years but since my old groomer went out of business I decided to try Furrs N Purrs. In addition to the regular bath and nails I asked for her to be "neatened" up and her backside trimmed - same instructions I've been giving for years. THEY SHAVED HER!!! Her beautiful long coat was shorn to a half inch!! Her coat was 4-1/2 -5 inches long, even longer on her tail - and they took all of it off, in the roughest cut I've ever seen on a cat, so that she looked absolutely scruffy. Her gorgeous tail was half shaved too, leaving just the last third with hair - almost like a Lion Cut gone horribly wrong, because they didn't leave her mane either, just the last portion of her tail! My son and I were stunned when we took her out of the crate and so upset; I just wanted to cry - it will take months for her coat to grow back to where it was and now I have to worry about Coco over grooming herself and creating hot spots because she's not accustomed to having a short coat - this is traumatic for her most of all; it's shorter than your typical domestic short hair!! They charged $137 for this grooming (which I was advised of in advance and was happy to pay to have her groomed, even though it was more than twice what my old groomer charged) and when I called to let them know how upset I was, Lacy (the groomer who did this to my Coco) insisted that she did nothing wrong and kept talking over me, never apologized or offered anything to make up for this horror of a grooming. She clearly does not know how to groom long hair cats and knows nothing about what Maine Coons should look like - KEEP YOUR LONG HAIR KITTIES AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!! read more

I almost did not recognize her because she was transformed into a show dog. The owner, David was awesome- knowledgeable, caring and gentle. I bring my two main coon cats here to David Axelrod. The cats mat very badly and quickly that even with constant combing and brushing they still get all knotty. This is one of the only places that grooms cats! I got to say he does a great job and he is super nice. I will return every time my cats need it. Wow, David is awesome and a life saver! I had to find a cat groomer since my cat had an accident on the car ride to Hackensack. I called multiple places and unfortunately none were able to accommodate me except for furrsnpurrs! David asked me some questions and told me over the phone that he can't make promises that he'll be able to wash my cat since most cats don't handle baths well.
