I recently moved to Saddle Brook and needed to get my dog in for a groom. I called Amy's and they were 2 weeks booked out but it was well worth the wait. Watching the staff interact with other dogs, it's very clear they know what they are doing. It's also clear how important safety is to them and it was extremely reassuring to see it be their priority. My dog not only looks and smells good but she doesn't seem nervous or scared when we picked her up. I'm so happy with my service. I also wanted to note the attention and care that Amy took to understand the cut and look we wanted for our dog. We aren't super particular but she asked questions and took the time to make sure she understood what we wanted. For reference my dog is a mini Bernedoodle, she's about 30lbs and the cost was just under $100. This is great, competitive pricing in my opinion. The service overall took about 4hrs. My dog is very anxious and tends to be aggressive. I always used to take her to the same place, until my groomer relocated. I heard many recommendations about ART. When I came in, I inquired about a "straight through" service as she gets particularly anxious in crates. The lady re-scheduled my appointment and treated my dog with affection and understanding brushing her and trimming her nails. I was very impressed and will definitely return. I really don't understand the 5 star rating for this place. The owner takes at least 5 hours mostly more to groom a dog no matter the size. That leads me to believe that the dog is mostly sitting in a cage until someone is free to groom it. I'd much rather wait for my dog and not have her waiting in a cage but even if you wait there, the grooming is done in the back that is not visible. Also, on multiple occasions they have buzzed my dog too close and instead of admitting that they cut her, they told me "she must have been picking at her butt." Uhm no..the dog can't reach its butt and the red mark is below the anus with no fur. Beware of the shadiness and excessive time here. read more

I am beyond impressed with the level of service at Amy's! My hubby dropped our two year old rescue terrier mix yesterday for her first grooming appointment and four hours later she was completely made over and was in such a happy mood! My dog is very weary of strangers but the staff at Amy's are truly wonderful professionals and made her feel at ease. Her coat is shiny and clean (she smells amazing) and soft to the touch. Before Boopie (my 16-year-old cockapoo) passed away last year, Amy was the only pet groomer that my mom and I trusted him with. He developed lots of skin tags all over his body as he aged, but Amy was able to work around them and my handsome Boopie came out looking 5 years younger! Amy is such a kind soul, and she and her team genuinely care about all the pets that come in for service. They've always treated Boopie like royalty here, and I know that every time my mom or I dropped Boopie off for an appointment, he was in great hands. Her price is right, she's very accommodating for appointments, it's very close to my house, and she even puts cute (sometimes holiday-themed!) bandanas on the pets once they're done getting groomed. This place was not worth the hype. They kept my dog for 5 hours and then did a horrible job. My babies face was all mismatched. Her ears were all weird looking and cut incorrectly. I've been trying to find a good groomer ever since I moved back to NJ, almost 4 years ago and I think this is it! I took my cute little pup here for a wash+dry and she came out looking like a movie pup. My dog is normally a very timid, shy, scared dog who hides in a corner at the sight of new people and dogs. When she came here, she went over to sniff the staff and seemed more outgoing than usual. It was awesome to see her trying to socialize. Amy and the staff are all very friendly and down to earth, they seem genuine not just in caring for the dogs but for the customers as well. I've only ever been able to get my dog in for a nail trim and I had to hold her myself since all the groomers were so busy. I called to book an appointment for next week and the response is "are you kidding, no way I could get you in". Amy and her team did an EXCELLENT job on my family's very, very old shih tzu Kikai. Throughout the years, Kikai has been very well groomed by my family members, but it came to the point where she became so fragile and ill that they were afraid a good grooming would do more harm then good. I called this morning even before it opened, and was fortunate to grab an appointment due to a cancellation (The next available appointment would have been at June!). I brought Kikai in, and met the awesome Amy. Amy obtained Kikai's history, carefully evaluated her, and discussed what she thought would be a good cut for her. Amy really knows her stuff, and provided me her observations, and a lot of information about Kikai's health. She is very good! She also works well with her staff members. Their teamwork was apparent, and with so many people working on my dog, it really did feel like Kikai was being treated like royalty. They called me three hours later, and I swear I picked up a new dog. Kikai never looked better! I was so impressed! As for the price, I paid $45 (starting price), and it included two baths, professional grooming, ear cleaning, and nail clipping. This place is AMAZING! Woke up yesterday morning to a text from my neighbor saying she didn't want her dog anymore and was going to put her on Craigslist. I was so happy to find this place so close as I had just moved to the area. This place has so many great reviews that I said this is the IT place for my shihztu's grooming needs. On my first visit, I wasn't too impressed with the place. The place is pretty dirty in comparison to other grooming places I've been to. I also found them to be a bit disorganized during check-in and checkout. However, being that it's so close to home and inexpensive, I made the next appointment. So fast forward, today was our 3rd visit for grooming. My appointment was at 10:30 on a Saturday morning. I asked how long would it be and Amy, the owner, tells me 4 hours. So this means he would be ready by approximately 2:30pm. It was 3:50 when I decided to call because I didn't hear from them. They told me he wasn't ready. I waited some more. It wasn't till 6:30pm that I got a call that he was finally ready. That's 8 hours!! But whatever, I didn't make a fuss. When I got there, again, disorganized to checkout. My doggie is finally placed in my arms. They didn't even offer to make the next appointment but whatever. I get in my car and drove off. As I'm at a stop light, I look over and my dog has a shorter streak going from his neck down to his back. I turn around and go back to ask what happened. Amy tells me, "oh he had a thinning spot in that area and we tried to fix it but it made it worse. WHAAAT?!?! This never happened before. And she's like "yea, I told them to tell you and to not charge you". I'm like you looked right at me when I picked him up and said NOTHING! His hair was not thinning. It was even all over when I took him. I was so pissed for having my poor baby in there for 8 hours to then only have received horrific service. Amy did give me my money back. Had they been truthful when I picked him up, I probably would have been ok with it but being that they charged me and let me drive away without telling me, is pretty deceitful. I cannot say enough positive things about this place. First, I called to make an appt and they were super accomodating in my request to switch the time literally minutes after I booked. I show up 5 minutes early for my saturday afternoon appt (as a new client) and they were awesome. The receptionist took my info down again, and the owner (Amy) came out and greeted my two longhair chihuahuas in such a sweet way. It really made me at ease knowing she took a genuine interest in her clients. My husband picked them up and they looked FABULOUS. Better than their standard grooming had been done before we moved here. I was very impressed. I drove 25 minutes one way to this shop, and I will gladly do it again. The only downside is that it does take a little while. My two furballs took like 3.5 hours total, so just know you should plan to run errands in the area or have stuff to do yourself (which we did, so that was fine). However- I will say- for as good as they looked, the price was very fair, and they did an excellent job. The time really did not bother me knowing they were in good hands. I would rather that be the case than some rookie at petsmart taking the clippers to Stella. haha read more
