I vacillated between 2 and 3 stars. This earns my rare 2 star review. It came recommended by a guy I used to work with. The place was a little dingy inside, but I don't mind that in barbershops, music venues, and even the occasional restaurant. Plenty of reading material for my wait. As I waited, the barber served the two gentlemen before me, and I heard him talk religion with them a bit. As a virulent heathen, it nevertheless doesn't bother me to talk religion-as long as it's a conversation and I'm not just being preached to. Once it was my turn and I explained what I wanted, he launched into his spiel. Whereas the previous two customers got merely appetizers for proselytizing, I apparently was settled in for a four course meal of same. As a person whose very appearance was at his mercy, I felt it unwise to ask him to chill. While his script unspooled, I became aware that he was paying much more attention to converting me than giving me a decent haircut. I mean, I get it-my immortal soul is more important than my 'do, but CTFO.* Afterwards I thanked him, paid him, and found that the moustache portion of my beard had been trimmed crookedly (I hadn't even wanted him to trim it), as well as other clearly under-attended to areas of my dome. I do not like being proselytized to relentlessly, I will not return.**
