My 6 year old granddaughter had her birthday party here today. What a fun place for the kids. A staff member named Taylor handled the party and was very experienced with handling and entertaining the kids. She lead them in several games and helped them in climbing the walls. I would definitely recommend this place for kids though teens parties. read more

I went to take my daughter here and apparently you can rent out the ENTIRE kids area for a bday party. So after driving 40 minutes to Longmont, me and my little girl were forced to try and climb with the other adults while she listened to kids upstairs yelling and playing. All she wanted to do was see the other kids and climb with them, but since we couldn't use ANY portion of the kids area we had a pretty useless visit since most the other climbs were far too difficult for a tiny child. Not a great experience for my kid or me, we will be climbing where elitism isn't so prevalent. Additionally when I asked about classes I was basically told that classes would be useless for my kid but would be helpful for me? Like I care about climbing this is for my kid. I don't understand why not make things easy and inclusive rather than having some kind of gatekeeping system. The whole place gave off "you aren't one of us" vibes. Message received. read more

I've been waiting years for a full climbing gym to open in the Longmont! The bouldering gym was great. Unfortunately, i feel this gym was not designed with rock climbing at its core. There is nothing steep! There is no lead cave. There is no bouldering cave. The gym is almost all vert! It is an amazing place to take your grandparents top roping or to throw a little kid's birthday party. The fitness area is really nice, the staff is great, and I feel the route setters always do a fantastic job. Although, I kinda feel bad for them as they will have to get very creative with their setting now as almost everthing is just vertical. I look forward to the boardroom opening. Hopefully, it can still be a decent place to train. In short, the LCC missed the mark. There is still room for a real climbing gym in Longmont. read more

* large bouldering area * bar area (I didn't get a chance to check out) * clean * well-textured walls CONS: * Very small top rope/lead area, seems to be only 25% of the building. * For the size/footprint of the building, the top rope/lead area seems like an afterthought. They could easily fit the bouldering they currently have (that takes up about 75% of the building) into 40% of the footprint and make 60% of the climbing top rope/lead. * Top rope/lead walls are vertical, no features, no overhangs, no cracks * Routes are wildly soft. When climbing strong (for me) I top out at 11c/d. My first visit to the new LLC, I climbed a "5.13" clean. I am NOT a 13 climber; I'm barely an 11 climber. I've talked to many people who top rope, boulder, and lead, and the general consensus is that they didn't talk to the climbing community when designing the space. This held such promise so the disappointment felt even more significant. All of that said, this will be a great place for kids' parties, or beginner climbers, but it is not the world-class gym that was promised. It's not even a serious gym. I do think a remodel could save this place. If this ever happens, I'd suggest involving the climbing community. It still has the potential to be a decent climbing gym. Here's a thought for the owners - host a climbing community night with an open forum at the end of the night; field questions and suggestions from all who attend and make some changes (if possible). read more

Visited this establishment on a Thursday evening. Traffic from Boulder to this climbing gym wasn't great (about 35 minutes). Upon arriving I was happy that I had my choice of parking spots. Check in at the front desk was quick and painless. There's a kiosk to complete your waiver (away from the front desk, making it a bit more private). Additionally there are chalk bags, chalk, clothing and other assorted gear to purchase. Cubbies outside the restroom allow you to stow your coat and shoes. The ladies locker room is spacious and clean with lockers (byo lock). There are several different bouldering areas within this facility from intro to advanced. Routes are marked clearly and the mats are clean and well maintained. There are free weights as well as a yoga studio and other classes. If you live in the area I highly recommend you check it out! read more

Avoid this place at all cost. Went to this place and the owners are downright rude. The place is poorly ran and they have no desire to even help you out when spending a lot of money. Not the type of place I would want to be around given how rude they are to a new climber. read more

First off, if you don't read this full review, i just want to say: DON'T GO THIS GYM, IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD. i am not just trying to rant about how bad my experience was, i am legitimately trying to help people not get seriously injured!! Worst gym in Colorado by far, the setting here was absolutely awful don't go here! The fact that three people had to be sent to the hospital during one day of competition obviously says they are doing something wrong! i have been to over 10 competitions and in all of those, i have only seen one other person need to be sent to the hospital. The pads at this gym are simply to hard and are a safety hazard, do not go to this gym! Update: There was just another competition(regionals, in which hundreds of kids competed in) there and another person broke/sprained his ankle, and many other smaller injuries and tweaks to peoples backs and necks. I figured that the staff would have realized that something needed to be changed, but no, the padding is still unsafe and quite terrible. THIS CLIMBING GYM IS NOT SAFE CLIMB AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!!!!!!! read more

This is a great gym. Plentiful parking, clean interior, lots of space to store personal items, friendly staff, tons of well-marked and creative problems, squishy mats, lots of training equipment. Setting was pretty tough at the lower levels (clearly set by tall men) but I'll forgive it, mainly because the staff was so friendly. I saw one guy leading a personal training session and he was doing a great job. The best part was the clientele. It was WAY less crowded and pretentious than the gyms closer to the Denver metro area. No guys with tattoos roaming around shirtless being judgmental. There were people of all walks of life, from beginners to experts, with a really friendly vibe. I loved it! read more

LCC is a great climbing gym. There is only bouldering, but the bouldering is some of the best anywhere.

This review is specifically targeting the strength training pillar of Longmont Climbing Collective. LCC has climbing, yoga, and strength, and after a climbing injury, I've spent the past three months attending Taylor Rimmer's strength training class. I was brand new to strength training when I started attending; never deadlifted or picked up a kettle bell before. Fast-forward a couple of months and my deadlift has progressed from my initial PR of 185lbs to 315lbs; my kettle bell skills have progressed from never using one, to the fruition of knowing how to use them for a variety of exercises all conducted with proper form and technique--or to put a number on it: swinging 1/3 my body weight (28KG) 100x in 10min near the end of class. Thanks to those swings... my quads, hamstrings, and glutes have a newly symphonic ability to propel me uphill much faster than before despite all my previous hiking/running experience. I've cut minutes off previous PRs on nearby ascents, and I attribute it to the work I've put in on Tues/Thurs nights. Taylor is the right man to teach this class: he demands perfect form even if that means doing fewer reps. He can explain the same movement in many different ways, so that even after weeks of listening to him explain a lift and thinking you understand it 100%, he'll still surprise you with a punchy description of activated muscles or specific points of your body to concentrate on to further perfect your form. Critically, he doesn't throw the class together at the last minute; it's evident he invests a lot of time reading the latest research, so that he can create training blocks that are structured, balanced, and innovative all while ensuring we (almost) never feel sore from class the next day and can still climb or practice our sport. Apart from getting stronger, I've made numerous friends, too, (I'm new to the area) thanks to the great energy in the class; it's never boring or repetitive feeling; and it produces powerful results that translate into better climbing, function, fitness, and friends. If I were to suggest anything to improve the class, it would be to hold it more often (it fills up quickly) and expand the days, times, and class types offered! read more

I'd rather drive 20 minutes to Boulder to go to an older gym than give my money to these guys. Me thinks not is right. No rules or enforcement means unsupervised children running under you. Not to mention the time the owners dog was walking all over the pads under climbers. Their "fees" are in my opinion, outrageous. Not worth a cent. read more
