Roadside burger you crave?? Beautiful drive you want??? Best burger in Washington state you demand!! Well according to trip advisor and now me, my wife and her mother. Cliff droppers can rightfully claim this honor. In the midst of our local pandemic my mother in-law who is basically addicted to the Internet, found Cliff Droppers while searching for the best burger joints in some weird Trip advisor thingy. Motivated by a volcanic drive by we decided very quickly that we would head straight to Cliff Droppers. Right after we visited Mount St. Helens. So we live in Redmond Wa. I'll let you do the math. The restaurant is very clean, nicely decorated with Sasquatch stuff and is easy to spot when entering downtown Packwood. Because it's bright orange and yellow paint. The 2 girls working the counter were very friendly and very helpful. I have to say additionally that we were also very impressed with the seriousness that they took our current statewide rules for businesses that are open during the covid-19 pandemic. Thank you!! Wearing masks and being sure the customers waking in understood the conditions upon entering the lobby. I ordered the signature Ciff Dropper a double patty beauty that was perfectly prepared and served with your choice of fries tots or chips. Of course I chose fries. The bun is fresh, the lettuce perfect and the onions and pickles were on point. They have other specialty burgers on the menu that looked tasty. But When in Packwood. Go signature dish!! My mother in law ordered the tatoosh with tits. Most notably this divine selection is topped with Swiss, bacon and grilled onions. No question this ones a winner. I have to say. This place is well worth the drive from the big city. But be prepared for shockingly beautiful scenery and friendly folks. I know. You don't get out much. But do as we did. A huge loop that took us from Redmond to chehalis to St. Helens. Packwood, Naches , Yakima canyon then home on I-90. Epic!!! read more

If I could give the burgers here 10 stars, I would. Let me preface this by saying that I rarely, if ever, order a burger when I'm out. Burgers aren't usually my jam. But, on a whim, my boyfriend and I came here while we were working remotely from town for the day. I ordered the Jalapeño Burger, with extra cheese and added grilled onions to it, because why wouldn't I get a little wild since I'm already going off my usual? My side? Tots. Always tots. Guys. This burger. It was juicy. Mouth-watering, even. It was made with fresh-grilled jalapeños (none of that pickled bullshit), which made the whole meal for me. The cheese was melted (is anything more infuriating than half-melted cheese on a burger?) perfectly. The grilled onions added a subtle, yet distinct, flavor to the already amazing spread. I shit you not, we went camping for three days and it was all I could think about. Rather than taking the quick route home, I half-demanded, half-pleaded, to be chauffeured back for round two. The memory of the first made the anticipation of the second that much more delectable. You'll be doing yourself a disservice if you don't come here while you're in town. If you don't, you'll be laying in bed, many months from now, dreaming about the burger that got away. read more

This is a great burger place in Packwood. The burgers are hand made and yummy. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the burgers. I got their tater tots as the side. They were crisp and delicious. The only down side is they make you pay for dipping sauces. The bbq and ranch were ok. It was busy but the staff were still friendly. My mother in law is visiting us from the East coast. We were told how delicious Cliff Droppers burgers were, so we took her for a lovely drive out Kernahan Rd to Packwood, to try it for ourselves. I had checked the website on Sunday night, and discovered they were closed Monday (a holiday), and Tuesdays, but open the rest of the week, so we decided to go on Wednesday. Again, I checked the website to make sure, and it said it was open until 6:50 pm. But when we got there, about 2:30 in the afternoon, it was closed up tight as a drum...no explanation. Being so far off the beaten path, they should be more considerate, and keep their website current. Thankfully, it was a beautiful drive out there, so all was not lost. And we had a delicious meal at Copper Creek restaurant on Hwy. 706 outside Ashford. The blackberry pie was fantastic! read more

Stopped here after a long day of hiking. The burgers here are on point. I ordered the "Dub", my husband ordered the "Sasquatch" and our little one had a hot dog. The burgers were big, really juicy but had that slight crust to them. Drool worthy. Everything is super tasty, large portions and super awesome fries. Great burgers! We like ours well done and more often than not, we have to send them back to be cooked more. Not here....the burgers came well done (no pink at all, as requested), the toppings were fresh, good rolls, and great tater tots. Oh, and No Smoking signs all around the outdoor patio eating area, which is great! Definitely will eat here again when in Packwood. read more

Family of four with a sandwich each, generous portion of tasty crispy fries and four soft drinks for pick up. Only 7 minute wait with very clean bathrooms. What can I say? Worth the price. After an AWESOME overnight hike up to Snowgrass Flats (http://www.yelp.com/biz/snowgrass-flat-trail-packwood), we made a pitstop to this burger joint in Packwood. This place is famous for their fries, but I do have to say they make an excellent burger and have some good home made milk shakes. I went with the Buffalo Burger (big surprise, right?), fries, and a huckleberry shake (I know. I'm so transparent). Lordy, lordy. That shake was the bomb! Huckleberries didn't have a great season this year, but you wouldn't know it from these shakes. These satisfied my huckleberry addiction (and probably put on an LB or two). The burger and fries were super tasty as well. As Jessica states, the ambiance is cool. I especially liked the old school skiing photos and other photos of local scenery. So, whether you're coolin' off after a hike, or warming up after hitting the slopes, this local joint will take care of you. read more

The burgers were fairly average - definitely not worth the higher prices. My wife ordered the blue cheese burger, which was good, but the jalepeno burger I ordered was not what I expected - the jalapenos were fresh, but barely warmed up before being added to the burger (typically, these will be grilled with the onions to carmelize them and cook out some of the oils). The service was awful. Walking in, we were met by a server who made it very clear through her demeanor that she had better things to do than wait on us. When we left, there was no 'Thank you', or 'Glad you stopped by'... perfectly acceptable from a McDonald's encounter, but when you're paying $10 for a burger, you really expect more. Took a fun drive on the slingshot and came through this small town. Heard great things about this burger place so had to stop in and gotta day...DELICIOUS! We're in the area fairly often for winter skiing or Mt. Rainier summer fun & always make it a point to go to Cliff Droppers cuz' they have the best burgers EVER! We're from Seattle so have several excellent choices in town for good burgers, but sorry Seattle, Cliff Droppers in small town Packwood has you beat hands down! Our absolute favorite is the double meat bacon cheese burger, as well as the chicken strips. Our daughter who is vegetarian gives their veggie burger a thumbs up & we've tried the mushroom burger as well which is very good. We always substitute the fries for tator tots, as they are excellent: crispy, hot & not greasy at all. Quick, efficient service. Can't wait for our next visit!! read more

Wish I could do zero stars, went in here today for lunch with the family and with our service dog. They refused to serve us because our dog does not have this "ID" that people believe service dogs are suppose to have. Husband showed them proof that a service dog does not need an "ID" and I told the lady she can talk to the trainer that trained our dog. And she just kept repeating that the county health department requires a service dog to have an "ID" on its vest. Restaurant down the road Cruisers Pizza didn't make a big deal about it, they asked if he's a service dog and we said yes and it was fine. The hotel across the gas station was ok. No fuss, just like all the other places we've gone to in multiple cities AND states! This "ID" you gullible people speak of are the ones people go online and just buy, they flat out buy the service vest and "ID". Funny thing, she argued that she has food, ok?? The dog is not going to eat the food nor was the dog going to be anywhere near her kitchen. We could have even showed proof of our dog's vaccinations, local licensing and registration. But they're convinced there's a service animal ID. If you have an actual service dog and you didn't purchase the fake ID, good luck. This place will not serve you with your service dog. And from what I've read on the reviews their burgers is not worth the price. Would not recommend this place to anyone. Attached photos clearly states that a service animal does need an ID, but people have bought in on the belief that a service dog needs an ID and insist that it's a law. read more

Delicious, big, handmade beef patties make all the difference. This place is consistently good. People are very friendly and service is quick. They serve a variety of hamburgers and homemade pizzas. If you are in Packwood, this is the best burger around. read more

We drove an hour and a half from Yakima to try some of the "best burgers in Washington". Got there about 1 pm on a Wednesday (they were supposedly open 11-6:45). They were closed. No sign explaining the closure during what should have been open hours. We even asked at another business in town, and they told us Cliff Droppers should have been open at that time. The burgers may be great (I'll never know; I'm not going to waste my time going back), but that doesn't do much good if they don't keep consistent hours. read more

Amazing burgers! I have been here several times. The burgers are handcrafted and freshly made. Served with fresh made-to-order hot and crispy fries. The burgers come with a fat slice of fresh tomato, onion and really fresh leafy and crisp lettuce. What is not to love. I've also had the fish and chips, and those are awesome as well. If you like blue cheese on your burger, man, you'll love their bacon and blue cheese burger. Heaven.
