Ashford is putting its big boy pants on. They have a burger and brew place now, with outdoor fireplaces and picnic tables. A tad expensive. Burgers are fine but fries were sad and very mid. This place will thrive because demand outstrips supply. Decent patio.

Rainier BaseCamp is a super cute spot to hit up after hiking in the area. There's plenty of outdoor and indoor seating and the atmosphere is pretty casual. We ended up getting the turkey and smoked gouda club to split as well as an order of the truffle fries. The sandwich was good and everything on it tasted super fresh. The truffle fries were also really good and heavy on the truffle flavor, which I appreciated. They have a selection of wines and beers which you can drink outside until a certain point. We sat outside while we waited for our food with a beer and it was a super relaxing vibe. Service was also really kind. We'll definitely come back here to try more of the menu next time we're in town.

Great spot for lunch after hiking on the mountain. We enjoyed our burgers (meat for him, vegetarian for me). On a sustainability note, it's great to have compostable service ware... but only if there's a compost bin to put the items in. Maybe reusable would be an option?

Rainier Basecamp is a regular stop for us on our way down from Mt Rainier. The staff is awesome, the food is fantastic (umm... woodfired pizza after a long hike washed down with a beer? Yes please!), and you couldn't ask for a cooler location! The entire footprint for Rainier Basecamp and Whittaker's Mountaineering and Bunkhouse takes me back to the community atmosphere we had while living in Germany. This is my favorite hangout in Washington State!

Yum yum yum. After a long hike and day at Rainer I stopped here with a friend. I ordered a burger and it was so delicious. There was plenty of parking, seating, and things for you to do in the area. It's a "base camp" so you'll see hikers, guides, gear, dogs, children. The overall vibes felt very pnw. There's a bunch of great beer here as well. Especially from central Oregon so it was a pleasure to see a taste of "home" so far away from there. Would recommend to anyone after a hike or just passing through! They also have wifi so great to get things done before you get into the park where there's no wifi

Great place to stop for a drink or lunch before heading to Mt Rainer . Lots of good seatings with shades. (We came in July to visit Mt. Rainer but the Park required reservation from 7am to 3pm during Summer, which we were not aware of. So we made a stop here to wait for the park open for everyone at 3pm. Recommend you all to check the mount rainer web page for reservation info before visiting.

Had a pizza and watched Sunday football. Food was good. Seating is limited. Restrooms are next door.

After waiting half an hour without service at another restaurant nearby, we were pleased with the fast service here. The food was decent.

The young lady was very friendly & attentive, handling the store front & waitressing the restaurant including clearing tables for the next customers. The meal was so filling I had no room for dessert, and I can't wait to cut into one of the baked blackberry pies later. Things I learned is try to visit when it is not tourist season, and make sure you try their little wild blackberry pie, ala mode' of course. I'd even recommend taking a whole pie home, I have not found anywhere that comes close to an old fashion country home baked tiny wild blackberry pie like my mom & several relatives & friends. This is the second year I've made a special drive out to this restaurant, just for the pie, and enjoy the drive out there, really need to leave earlier so I can enjoy more of it including dropping into the Mount Rainier park.

Mount Rainier Railroad Dining, the railroad is built in 1922, purchased in Portland Oregon, by founder Robert Thurston. I got to meet and chat with the grandson, he was the only wait staff I saw that day that ran the front. It seems they are short staff, maybe that is the reason for the low ratings. We enjoyed ourselves before getting a table, looking around the railroad, checking out the front of shop, reading about all the history and checking out the gift shop. Pretty nostalgic, love the decor and it was a learning experience! The menu features a variety of American classics, such as steaks, seafood, pasta, and check out the daily specials! Well, I took my daughter and sisters to NW trek today for a visit and we stopped at the trek cafe for a pretzel with cheese and a hot dog, man am I regretting it awfully. I'm currently sick to my stomach and I'm not sure if it's from the hot dog or pretzel but when I had breakfast at home this morning, I definitely was not puking my brains out and constantly running to the bathroom to go #2. Just be cautious when getting food, the hot dog didn't look or smell weird but this is the only other food I ate today and I had a 2-3 hour gap in between my meals so that's why it makes me think it's from the food from here. Staff was kind and patient with my very indecisive brother and sister though.
