Small town bar that is family friendly until 9:00PM. I'd been craving a good burger, and this place did not disappoint. In fact, we were pleasantly surprised at how good the burgers were. The fries were really good as well but I'm on the fence about the onion rings. The sauce they serve was really good and the drinks, well, it's a bar so... Elbe is such a tiny little place but very quaint and cozy. If you're on your way through, I highly recommend stopping and supporting the locals. This bar is small and seating is limited and that's really my only notes. Maybe they could expand the building or build a large outdoor seating area. They have enough land to do so. I can envision an outdoor stage with live music events during the summer months and possibly a collaboration with the train museum or the boutique train car motel. They have a lot of potential in Elbe to become a bustling tourist destination if they implement some upgrades. People there seem friendly and the bar staff was no exception. Dive bar. Yes. But that isn't necessarily a bad thing. It's a place where 'everyone knows your name' in a small town. Since mountain Base camp was closed we ended up here. The reviews of the burgers and fries were great so we gave it a ride. Hubby was able to get a beer he liked but my wine was dreadful. What was I thinking, hoping to get a California Chardonnay here? We ordered a burger and fries and they arrived fairly quick. Burger was overdone but we weren't asked, or offered, any option for doneness. Fries were hand cut and good but not over the top. We split the burger and it actually turned out to be too small for us to share. It tasted ok but again, not anything like the reviews seem to suggest. Beggars can't be choosers and we have decided to stay in our cabin tonight and make Ramen. read more

If you know me, you know I love a good dive bar. Elbe Bar & Grill definitely fits the bill and was a hit with us! We were just stopping by for a quick drink and snack before leaving town and didn't want to leave. They have a solid selection of drinks and they even have pickle juice which is our chaser of choice for tequila. Not sure of what the brand was, but it was good pickle juice, too! The bartender was also super nice. They have TouchTunes as well to play whatever music you want to vibe to while visiting. We ordered some of the mozzarella sticks and they were a little too heavy on the breading for my taste, but they weren't bad. Definitely a cute little spot for a drink when in town. Beers arrived quick but the mozzarella sticks definitely spent way too long on the fryer. We wanted to love this place, and we did love certain things. I've been driving past this place for decades & finally decided to stop last week to give it a try. It's just a bar, but I have to say, I was impressed with it. Their bacon cheese burger was excellent, and so was their crispy chicken sandwich. They offer Mac & Jack's for beer, one of my favorites, and other beers on tap, too. I'm going back the next time I drive by since I forgot my phone to take pictures of the food & fries. The bar tender and all the other folks were frindly there too. My guy and I came upon the Elbe Tavern and decided to give them a try. We were really lucky because it was the first day being open since the COVID restrictions lightened up a bit. Our server was really sweet and efficient. She had her baby girl in the tavern with her for a bit since she didn't have a babysitter available but no one minded at all...we were all just really happy to be there! I had the Boinker Burger and holy cow, it was amazing. My husband had the bacon cheeseburger and he said the same thing. Kudos to the cook! The burgers are cooked to perfection and really big too ~ a gorgeous shiny bun tops it off too. You honestly can't go wrong ordering a burger at Elbe Tavern. This place is awful. 1. No one, including all staff and patrons, wore a mask despite state requirements and the sign on the door that said it was required. 2. The burger I ordered was so greasy that the bun and the fries were completely soggy in the 9 minutes it took me to drive back to where I was staying. It tasted o.k. but was kind of revolting to eat because of how it everything was soaked in greasy liquid. 3. This place has madddd racist undertones. The Elbe Tavern is your classic dive bar. It's not much to look at and when you walk inside, there is a good chance it's going to be full of locals that are going to give you the side eye. You can sit wherever you want and the bartender was pretty quick to come around and give us a menu. My buddy and I both ordered a pint and a bacon cheeseburger. The pints were cold and tasted great. They had a nice selection of domestic and craft brews and our burgers arrived quickly. They were greasy and delicious and the fries matched. The burger was perfectly cooked and had a reasonable amount of bacon and cheese. The bun appeared to be rolled in butter which was again, very greasy, but dive bar delicious. The fries were hand cut and well salted, but could have used another couple of minutes in the fryer. Otherwise, they were delicious and the whole lunch really hit the spot. Two pints and a burger cost me $22 which was more than reasonable and I'll definitely be back. Also, the bathroom was clean. That's nice for a bar. read more

Disclaimer-- we did not get a chance to try their food! This review is not based on food/taste. My boyfriend and I came here on a Saturday night at roughly 8pm and as soon as we walked in we just felt a very unfriendly vibe. We only mentioned it to each other after we left. There was some seating available at the bar area since it was pretty packed but the local sitting next to the seats purposely put his leg up so we couldn't sit there. The rest of the evening nobody sat in those stools, meaning he wasn't saving seats for anyone. He just didn't want us sitting there, odd. That's besides the point though, we sat for 20 minutes just go grab a shot each and the bar attender or any waitress/waiter was nowhere to be seen. Everyone seemed to be tipsy out of their minds and we just sat there waiting, waiting, waiting. We finally decided to just get out of there . Reason for 2 stars is because food smelled really delicious. Would have loved to try it but honestly I will not be back to do so. As we walked out we heard one of the women drinking on the side yell out "BYE" in a very snotty voice laughing her head off. I was starving though so choked down the burger but could only manage a few French fries. Best place I've ever eaten after a fishing trip. Hot and fresh food with a scenic view. I just finished fishing at Mineral Lake and decided to eat at Elbe's Tavern for lunch. It wasn't all that busy so we were immediately seated and menus handed. The menu wasn't expansive which was understandable because it's a small and quaint restaurant. I ordered the hillbilly deluxe burger. The food was ready and I was in excitement because it looked delicious! The first bite was the fries. They were hot, crispy, freshly cut and well seasoned fries. I didn't even need to put ketchup because they tasted so good! It took me a while to work on the burger because it was so big and loaded with toppings like 2 patties, sautéed opinions and jalapeños. I almost had to use a fork instead of using my hands lol. That bite tasted like a party in my mouth. The burger was incredibly juicy and exquisite. Overall, the staff were awesome, food was incredible and a go to place after a successful fishing trip.
