    Overload Burger - no tomatoes!
    Scott B.

Visited Scaleburgers for the very first time today (7/6/24) with some friends. Ordered the Overload burger which was absolutely delicious. I expressed my gratitude to the young ladies who prepared my meal in sweltering conditions while maintaining a positive attitude. My burger was moist and the condiments were fresh and added a nice touch to my sandwich. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone in the area looking for good food at a reasonable price (I paid $15 for the burger and a medium drink). Scott D. Blount Covington, WA

This place is fine - I pass through this area every week and stop by infrequently. For a better drive-in spot I prefer HUFF 'N' PUFF on Highway 12. At Scale Burgers you order at the window of the shack and the service is usually pretty quick but there can be a wait depending on when you catch them. Once you receive your meal you can sit at the picnic tables they have around or take to your car. The Classic Burger is a backyard style burger, it's tasty but there's nothing too special about it. It's overpriced for what it is and given how casual this place is. They're only open during the summer, so I guess they have to make their money on the tourists to/from Mt. Rainier during the summer to last them throughout the year. If you're passing by, it's a serviceable burger but don't go out of your way to get it.

I have to say that this place is incredible. I was so happy to see a family hamburger stand. I was really happy with my double burger with bacon and cheese. The ladies working there were great too. Your order is a card out of a normal deck of playing cards and they yell it out when it is ready. Take the time to go to this place and have some great food, served by real people !!!

Right near Rainier national park. Overall just OK, but still hit the spot after a day of hiking in the rain. Outdoor seating only.

Central loacated within the very small and beautiful village of Elbe, is the Burger Bar "Scaleburger". Staff was very friendly and recognized that we were Germans and switched immediately to German language (she is coming from Darmstadt). Small but nice menue. We have had chili cheese fries and a Burger with Jalapenos. Fries could have been a bit more crispy, the Burger was just perfect. Price is within "middle range". Will come again!! (cash only)

Mount Rainier Railroad Dining, the railroad is built in 1922, purchased in Portland Oregon, by founder Robert Thurston. I got to meet and chat with the grandson, he was the only wait staff I saw that day that ran the front. It seems they are short staff, maybe that is the reason for the low ratings. We enjoyed ourselves before getting a table, looking around the railroad, checking out the front of shop, reading about all the history and checking out the gift shop. Pretty nostalgic, love the decor and it was a learning experience! The menu features a variety of American classics, such as steaks, seafood, pasta, and check out the daily specials! Try their specialties, the world famous Hobo Stew, consist of smoked beef, potatoes carrots, and cabbage in a sourdough bread loaf. Check it out after you do the railroad train tour, or just come visit this part of town and make time for this. I know pricey but let's support local out here at Elbe!

Proper Patty ($11) - This burger comes with two smash patties, both of which are heavily salted and somewhat crisped up - the pictures from other people make it seem like they cook long enough to get lacy caramelized edges, but it's not quite to that point. Instead, the burgers, while not moist and fatty, aren't dried out either, and give a great beefy flavor. The burger sauce adds some tangy sweetness, and some pickles on top adds even more sweetness, but a very fresh crunch. It's otherwise pretty standard with the lettuce and tomato. A solid smashburger. (4/5) Fries ($5) - These are fried enough to give a crust on the potatoes, but not enough for the fries to be come crisp. Still, they aren't floppy, so while not entirely crisp, these are still good for eating especially since the insides are nice and fluffy. They are salted a lot, which combined with the salty dip (we went with the Bud's Sauce), equals a parched mouth after eating. I think they actually use a lime salt or something as I can detect a bit of citrus flavor. The Bud's Sauce is a nice mayochup mixture with I think a bit of smokiness from paprika and some chopped onion. It's sweet, tangy, and salty. (4/5) Overall Burger Buds serves some nice classic smashburgers! It's great for a visit while in town for a quick and easy meal.

First, the girl who helped me was incredibly kind, helpful, and just effortlessly welcoming (also--stunning, which matched the whole vibe of the place). The food? Genuinely top tier. The mushroom Alfredo was hands down the best I've had in my life. I've actually tried recreating it since I got home and... humbling experience. Not even close. The macarons were perfect, the stump cake is ideal if you want dessert without it being overly sweet, and the cheese Danish tasted way more authentic than the usual overly sugary versions (definitely not your typical Starbucks situation). Everything was hearty, filling, and just really, really good. One of those places you randomly stop at and then think about later like... wait, why was that so good? Would absolutely go back.

As we waited for a seat, the party that was leaving raved about the restaurant & gave us the insider's scoop on what to order (which wasn't much help because they almost named the entire menu)! Then, we ordered the Farmer Cheese Pirogies as an appetizer, the Gnocchi for our main entree, & the Honey Cake for dessert. The Pirogies were good (they had a slight cheese flavor), but the stand-out was the Gnocchi! It featured perfect little potato pillows, bathed in an amazing cheesy, garlic sauce, with thickly-sliced, fresh mushrooms! It was the best gnocchi of our lives! The cake came in second place- it was moist & pleasantly sweet!
