We had a truly extraordinary experience. Todd was fantastic; providing absolutely delicious recommendations, speedy service, and pleasant conversation. We had a pretty diverse selection from the menu which left everyone in our group supremely satisfied. The Tuna Nigiri was as fresh as can be, it melted in my mouth like bite of ice cream on a hot summer day. Their bread rolls were divine! Atmosphere allows for all of the employees to show off their beautiful tattoos and colorful personalities. We were told to come try this restaurant by a good friend who said it was a really nice restaurant with an attached bar, and great food. It did not disappoint. We got there early enough that we didn't need to wait to get in. The hostess led us to our table inside, but we asked if we could go out on the patio and she immediately said yes and took us outside. Once we were out there she basically asked us where we wanted to sit. So we picked a table that was in the shade. It was 6:30 so still sunny outside. (And 95o in the direct sunlight!). Our waitress, Mercedes, was at our table quickly to get our drink order and answer any questions that we had. She was so friendly and helpful. She was actually pretty entertaining because she was so happy to be there and you could tell. So that was awesome. We ordered chicken wings for an appetizer, fried chicken for my dish and French dip for my husbands. He also ordered a soft shell lobster sushi roll. Our food came out pretty timely. Most of it was really good. Honestly though, the corn on the Cobb that came with my chicken was not great. It is supposedly dipped in a 5 herb butter. I did not enjoy the flavor at all. And the corn itself tasted like it had been sitting out too long. The hassleback potato had good flavor but was pretty dry. I actually ended up putting some herb butter from the rolls on the potato and it helped. But the fried chicken itself was huge and delicious! The crust on this thing was amazing! It was really moist and delicious! My hubs enjoyed the sushi and the French dip. He also had a salad. He was so stuffed when we were done! The manager also came around and asked us how things were and gave us a card to come back for a free appetizer since this was our first time there. Overall it was a great anniversary dinner. My first impression of the joint was very nice. They asked if we wanted to sit in the main restaurant or the bar. We choice a high top in the bar. The décor is very mountain homey style, similar to what I grew up with in Colorado Springs. Very warm and inviting and lower lighting. This turned out to be a con for one of the guys I was with, who used his phone light to view the menu. I am not against the idea. There is a patio out back, but being winter, it was far too cold to sit out there. It sits up on a "cliff" so great views down into the valley. Would be a definite plus if it were warm enough. Seeing Katy B's review, I agree with her "sounds pretty lame" statement, but the views, lights, fire, umbrellas, etc. do add to the ambiance. I was not there on a night with live music, so not sure about that. The food is decent. I would not say the best in the area, but reasonable prices for the gastropub type of food they offer. If you are looking for a large meal, I would find another place, but if you want a mixture of food and experience, I would take it. The downside is the service, but I have found that to be more of a rule in the SLC area than an exception. It is not as bad as some places in the area, but definitely a bit slower than others. As it was not busy enough to warrant some of the slowness, especially right after we were seated. Our server was friendly, so it was not a complete downer. He was very good at describing the dessert we all swore we would not have (butter cake), so I guess he understood his job from a sales perspective. read more

Came in for dinner around 6pm with a party of 9 on a Tuesday- no wait. Ordered the old fashioned. I am from KY and very particular about my old fashioned. I was impressed, very well made and the price was reasonable. Had the spicy tuna for an appetizer, also very good. For dinner, I tried the Carolina pulled pork based on the recommendation of our waitress. It was phenomenal. There are many things to love about Cliff, but there is still room for improvement. First, let's start with the good stuff. We've been here a couple of times and the staff has always been great. They are very friendly, thoughtful and hard working. The setting is usually relaxing and dining can provide a good view inside or out (weather permitting). Bar area is cozy with multiple TVs for those interested in game viewing but will be very loud on busy nights. Speaking of the bar, the signature drinks here are highly recommended. Personal favorite - The Smoking Gun. Biggest area for improvement, the food. The food is very hit or miss. For me it has been more miss. My spouse loves the lobster mac n' cheese but I haven't found anything on the menu that was better than average. My biggest disappointment was the filet mignon. read more

If you're looking for good sushi do NOT make a trip to Draper for the sushi at this pub. We ordered the omakase plate that was $50. It was explained as an assortment of nigiri, sashimi and one roll. Unfortunately we got only two pieces of nigiri, four measly slices of sashimi and two under sized rolls that had no fish and were all vegetarian. It was a huge disappointment because for the same amount of money (or less) we could have ordered four rolls. Regardless all of the rolls were sub par and lacked flavour and creativity. Additionally we ordered the "loaded" edamame which was over sauces with too much bacon and peanut and definitely didn't resemble any special creation. I hate giving poor reviews but this restaurant definitely needs to step up its sushi game if it ever hopes to compete with local rivals like Takashi and Itto. read more

I recently visited the Cliff Dining Pub with a group of friends. We had made reservations a bit earlier in the evening. Everything went well and we were enjoying our time until the last couple minutes. We were approached and told that we were coming up on 1 hour and 45 minutes and would need to begin wrapping up to leave. While I understand being respectful to the incoming customers, nowhere on the reservation or website did it say we were being timed. The women approached the table as we were signing checks and wrapping up naturally. Had she waited a few more minutes we would have been leaving and the evening would have been an overall great experience. Unfortunately, she had obviously not paid attention to our table at all. It took 30 minutes for our table to be served drinks, our order wasn't even taken until drinks were on the table. Which meant it also took another 30 minutes for us to receive our food. That wasn't an issue to begin with because we were enjoying one another's company. However, by the time we got our food we had already been there an hour. There had also been a mix-up that had taken additional time out of our "allotted visit time" when they mixed us up with another table and brought out the wrong food. Even coming back to ask if we were sure we hadn't ordered those items... they were in fact not for our table. We ordered dessert, got checks... again there were issues with the check. Our waiter had to reprint them, as a couple had been mixed up and charged incorrectly. They had just taken the check off of the table when we were rudely told we were taking up too much time. We obviously left abruptly due to the situation making it awkward and uncomfortable. It is unfortunate that while our service was not held to the standard of being efficient and speedy, we sure were. If reservations only have 1 hour and 45 minutes, please make sure that you are efficient with your service. I have called the manager and left messages, but unfortunately I have not heard back. A good experience with friends was brought to a very awkward and poor ending due to one persons lack of customer service. We ordered drinks, entrees and dessert. We were respectful of the space and enjoying our time. There was no reason for her to rudely approach our table. read more

So, I have been in town for 2 weeks for work. I have been eating my way around Draper and Lehi, and I finally found The Cliff tonight - my last night in town. I cannot begin to explain how sad I am that I found them so late in the game I came in, was immediately sat. My waitress, Mary, appeared instantly like magic. While she was gone putting in my drink order, two more members of the wait staff stopped by to make sure someone had taken care of me. When Mary came back, she had an excellent suggestion for dinner. the blackened salmon. In my opinion, the wait staff usually know what's good-looking so trust them. Trusting Mary paid off hugely! The salmon was perfect. The asparagus was tender and well seasoned, the prosciutto was crisp and not too salty... The potatoes were smooth and creamy, and picked up flavor from the salmon spices. In addition, Mary was kind enough to spend some extra time talking with me while she wasn't busy- making suggestions on other restaurants to try in the area, and scenic drives to take to really enjoy the mountains while I am here. And she was adamant that I hang out long enough to see the sunset from their balcony, and you know.. she was right. I decided to splurge for dessert too, and trusted the guidance of Miss Mary once more. She didn't lead me astray. I was brought a beautiful, perfectly sized- gloriously caramalized creme brulee, with a beautiful strawberry on top. It was just the right amount of sweet to end the meal, and so smooth and creamy with real vanilla beans in the recipe. I spoke with the manager for a little bit, and learned that they recently relaunched this place with the new management. They're definitely on the right track.. if this is what they are capable early on in their tenure, I can't imagine what it will be like when they hit their stride. I am writing this review from their balcony, listening to the music and sipping my drink as the sun sets over the mountains and above the valley. After 2 weeks away from home, I am ready to go back. But this view, this porch and the kindness of the staff has made me a little sad to leave. But I will definitely be back, this isn't a place I am going to forget- and it doesn't matter where in the Salt Lake area I stay on my next trip... I will be stopping by the Cliff again, at sunset to watch the sun go down and the stars come out. And to eat some pretty wonderful food in the process. read more

4.5 if there was that rating. Food was exquisite. Both in taste and in looks. It's on the more expensive side, but it's worth the experience. Great place to take your +1 on a date. I must say, I almost gave it 3 stars due to the receptionist who looked at us like we didn't belong, But the rest of the evening (waiter and manager) made up for it. The waitress was excellent, she made a mistake, (it was late and near closing), and yet she made sure it was in our favor. Highly recommend the sushi nachos and the coconut shrimp. (That's all we ordered) Perfect light yet filling dishes for a late night snack. The food came rather quick, and you get something special from the manager when it's your first time there. This is one of our favorite date night spots. We actually went 3 weeks in a row! We've tried numerous things on the menu and have loved all of it. The corn croquette appetizer is amazing! We've gotten the sandwiches, the salads, the flatbreads, you name it. It's all so great. I don't know if I have a favorite yet The drinks are fun and unique as well. I decided to go back to @cliffdiningpub in Draper. It has been a while and they always seem busy. Some people may like to go there just for the view and to get drinks. But my review is on the food and service. Everything was very bland and overpriced, and just not very good. I ordered the Prime Rib medium rare, it came out medium well. It was actually kind of tough and chewy, like bad buffet Prime Rib. There is definitely no way to justify this thin slice of overcooked, bland beef at $34 a plate. It was on par with Golden Corral. The Beef Stroganoff was also very bland, I'm pretty sure they were using the same beef. The Butter Cake was one of the worst I have ever had. It was so dried out as well. It tasted almost like old Cornbread. The Coconut Shrimp were great, but they are pretty hard to screw up. At least the presentation was nice, so it seems like they are trying. Once our server dropped our food we didn't see him again for about half an hour until it was time to check out. Never refilled drinks. Maybe I'll go back in a year again to see if they improve, but I wouldn't bet on it. read more

Terrible brunch! We made reservations for a girls christmas brunch. My experience at the Cliff has been hit and miss but agreed with the group to try it again. Arriving the hostess was anything but gracious when we arrived. Couldn't decide whether to seat us in the dining or bar. There were plenty of tables in both areas so it shouldn't have been a difficult decision. She sat us in the dining room where there was only one waiter for the entire room. He was trying his best to get to everyone so we tried to be patient. We ordered eggs benedict. One person ordered hers with a hard yolk. When the food arrived the egg was FRIED not poached hard. The other orders were less than acceptable in other ways but because the poor waiter was so harried we just decided to pay and leave. I am a Draper resident and keep hoping for a consistent dining experience at the Cliff. Nothing fancy, just good food and atmosphere and a glass of wine where we could visit weekly. Great live music, delicious eats and well made cocktails... what else could you ask for?! We visited Cliff on Friday night and were able to get seated at a table very quickly (in the bar area) even though there was no parking in the parking lot and they were quite busy. I've heard parking can be quite a challenge, and it was for our friends that we met - they had to park at Walgreens next door and walk. We lucked out and snagged a spot in the lot. I came hungry and planned to try an entree off their menu, but, we didn't make it past the appetizers! We had the Coconut Shrimp and two orders of the Calamari (it's amazing). Decent size appetizer dishes too so we were full from just these, can't wait to come back to try the fish tacos and other items we were thinking about. Loved the atmosphere and the music, fun place and fun people. I had a couple of IPAs and the wife had an old fashioned. The old fashioned was one of the best I've had, very tasty and well made. Service was pretty solid and fast, but the drink orders seemed to take a really long time. I guess it was a busy Friday night and they were probably making drinks for the whole restaurant - wasn't that big of deal, but, we noticed. I really want to like this place. It's close to our house, it's open late, the food and drinks are good. Only thing is service is only good 50% of our visits. We've been 4 of last 6 Friday's. First time I blamed service on COVID. Then had two great dining experiences, now tonight was terrible. Slow inattentive service. Took 1.5 hours to get two appetizers and that's with me having to go point it out in the window waiting to be picked up. Sushi chef René really knows what he is doing! When he met me and my Japanese-American family, he got really excited and did all kinds of amazing stuff for us. Visiting Salt Lake from California, we attended an event at The Cliff. There was live music which we learned they have 3 nights per week.
