WOW these guys are the real deal. Writing this review the SAME DAY I picked up my repaired item. This is notable because I typically "lag" on writing my reviews. On top of that, I am very busy these days. I rarely write Yelp reviews as I am in the middle of tax season! Well yes, you guessed it--I am a tax preparer. Back to my review. I had major issues for the past few months with my MacBook Pro, early 2011. Had the black screen of death which then turned to a white screen that would just show cursor and spinning circle. ALL BAD as I say! Tried all the quick-fixes on Youtube and Apple forums. Nada! Looked at buying a new MBP but heard the new MBP's basically sucked. Finally decided to look on Yelp and a couple of other places were ahead of them but I opted to go to them due to reviews and proximity to my work. Fast forward to customer experience. Called them, spoke with Ramon, briefly explained my dilemma and he told me to swing on by. I honestly had a little difficulty finding them, was in right parking lot... Called Ramon from the parking lot and he spotted me right away. Ramon ultimately took in my MBP and gave me a quote. He made a fairly quick diagnosis as we both went over symptoms and issues. Got my receipt was on my way. Next day got a call, told me that I needed a new battery and that my OS was shot! They said they would troubleshoot and save my files. I had them backed-up not to long ago but was worried nevertheless! Low and behold, Gonzalo and team were able to SAVE my files, save my computer and save me a boatload of money! I came in to get my battery replaced on my iPhone 6. I had tried by myself and screwed up some of the display connectors. They told me I could just walk in, pay 30 and get my battery replaced. It's rare to find a great repair shop then doesn't cost you an arm and a leg, and I believe this business is just that. I was complaining all the time about my battery dying (I own a macbook pro 2012) with only a couple hrs of usage. The tech walked me through it, downloaded coconut battery and explained the life of battery and how it depends on how many cycles it charges. Bought a new battery from them and they installed it. Worked perfectly fine, until about a year later, I started having "service battery" error on my computer. Took it in again, and the tech took a look and actually replaced it free of charge, under warranty! How nice, what great customer service. I can't recommend this shop highly enough! Jesus, Eduardo, Gonzalo, and the rest of the team not only did a fine, professional job with my computer, but were really pleasant, understanding, and I always left with a smile. I brought my computer here by chance, because they were one of the only shops open during a Sunday computer emergency - and I'm so glad I did. I actually live 50 minutes away, in Santa Cruz, and the commute felt worth it every time. I say every time because, through no fault of the shop, my computer needed repeat care over the same issue. They warranty their repairs, so they worked on my computer numerous times, until the issue was fixed, at no extra cost to me. This alone makes me give this shop high marks - they stand by their work, and won't nickle and dime you into oblivion. I love this place. They've fixed the screens on 2 iPhones and a Macbook Air for me, and done absolutely 1st-class work each time. NOTE - they REALLY know their stuff. They do things I never thought possibly, like having the knowledge and equipment to unsolder and replace surface mount components from boards, and unglue those impossible-to-fix screens laptop displays (I'd swear they just replaced the whole top cover on the Macbook, it's that good). I had accidentally dropped my iPad Air 2 on the hardwood floor and it became none responsive. I couldn't even charge the device anymore. I brought it to the Apple authorized repair shop(Best Buy Geeksquad) and they told me the board is damaged and can only be replaced for $300. Then I searched to find CleverTech to fix my iPad. They ran a free diagnostic test and were able to charge/turn on my iPad with no problem. So happy that I went to them to check my iPad again. Now I got my iPad working without a dime. When I walked in I was surprised to see that this was a new Business and that the old business was not there no more but they still repair computers and iPhones. I had issues with apps closing in and out by themselves when I was in the process of using them. Ads that randomly popped up and it was frustrating because my MacBook Air was only 2 years old!!! I'm thankful to have found this place after visiting multiple different computer shops across town and one of them practically trying to rip me off. CleverTech has done two services for me: one a couple years back on my MacBook Pro (replaced a water damaged and corroded USB port) and one just recently on my iMac (RAM upgrade). I was totally satisfied with both services. Their prices are very reasonable compared to other shops I've inquired with, their turnaround time is great, and they have a friendly staff. I've had encounters with a few different staff members, but Gonzalo is usually the one I happen to come in contact with whenever I stop by the store or call in for questions. Every time he's assisted me has been a pleasant experience. He's a such a friendly dude, pays attention to detail, has a lot of patience -- just has great overall customer service skills. Went here for rear camera problem on iPhone 7 plus. They had a different quote when checked on Yelp but they met us in middle (after saying that the quote they gave us on Yelp was only for front camera and increasing the price of overall quote for rear camera) when we visited the store. I honestly don't write very many reviews on Yelp, and that's because a lot of places aren't worth reviewing - but this one definitely is. A hidden gem on the other side of San Jose from where I live, I was hesitant to call - but it was the best decision I could've made. The owner, Gonzalo was able to give me a clear, hassle-free estimate on the phone, and it was significantly cheaper than the other 7 places I had called. I was so surprised, I didn't know if it was too good to be true. While other shops made me wait a day, my repair was done in less than 20 minutes and explained to me step by step, professionally. His repair place is the neatest of any I have ever seen- every item meticulously cared for and in it's place. It was quick, professional, and he's an overall great guy to chat with. This place is the best. I brought in my 10 year old vintage 17" MacBook Pro with a start up problem. Nam was fabulous! He listened to what I was experiencing, then had me demonstrate. He checked a couple things and recommended replacing the drive with an SSD. He gave me an estimate to replace the drive & put my data on the new drive. He said it would be ready in 2 days. He called me at 4:30 the same day & it was ready to pick up. It's flying fast again. Amazing! $300 was way better than a new computer for $2600.
