My review is limited to random Saturday afternoons, like the one which just passed... I was definitely surprised at the change in the crowd from the last time I went to the Clevelander (granted - it was over 4-5 years ago). It was a bit rowdy, the crowd was questionable to the least, & the "promoter" was doing nothing but parading around 2 girls wearing nothing but tape. I guess I'm getting old, but it's just not my scene. I could definitely sit in the corner & laugh all afternoon long, but then the really, really expensive drinks would deter me from staying very long. LOL...if I was a little bit younger I may have enjoyed this place more, but honestly it just seemed like a bunch of college kids running around naked. So my hubby picked this place to eat. I'm not sure if I was tired of the constant haggle of the many eateries on the strip or if the girls at the hostess stand was really that standoffish. Yeah I just wrote that. I order the turkey sandwich and hubby ordered the Magnum dog. The turkey sandwich was spicy, but not too much. The avocado was a nice touch. Drinks were good, not too strong, not too sweet. Our waitress was quiet/timid but nice. The food was good, the drinks were refreshing, but the staff didn't match the vibe of the establishment. Luckily, ladies get in free. The drinks are expensive but it's a cool atmosphere. It's mostly outside so make sure you're going to have good weather to enjoy yourselves. I've never eaten here but have had fun the few times that I came out. It's a must place to go to if you are from out of town and want to experience South Beach. Your typical tacky Ocean Drive tourist trap restaurant/bar in South Beach....but they make a damn good drink (try the Miami Vice, oh jeez) and relatively good appetizers for an afternoon beach break snack. When we stopped by for said snack, I ordered the ahi tuna sliders. They were good I suppose, but not at all what I expected - the ahi was ground and fully cooked. Literally like little fish hamburgers. I'm used to rare ahi so I was a little surprised, but whatever. Our servers were really nice (one was almost a little TOO nice) and our wait time wasn't bad. Oh, and they seemed to have much better music than the rest of the places we walked by (house/techno as opposed to salsa-type stuff). my friends and I stayed here... unknowingly. We booked at the Essex behind it and they "upgraded" us to the Clevelander. The bathroom in the room had frosted doors that were hung backwards and wrong. They didn't close all the way and you could SEE INTO the bathroom but not see OUT when you were in. So pretty much, my friends and I got to watch each other take shits and showers. Good thing we know each other pretty well.....!! Other than that, the location is AMAZING and the rooftop was to die for. I spent nearly my whole weekend on the roof and the beach. The scene downstairs is really crowded and loud, it's not my thing but people were having fun. I'm not sure if i'd stay again but i did like the location because it was beach front. i don't know when it was rennovated, we stayed in the middle of May.. but it looked like it JUST opened... we might have even been the first in our room it was so new and clean. The club scene at night was ridiculous... loud, pushy, fast and crowded. Need i say more? One thing i want to point out = SoBe is EXPENSIVE. Coronas are like 7 or 8 bucks and a hamburger and coke lunch for four is around 60 or 70 bucks. Plan on dropping lots of money. read more

this is the worst place I ever seen, we went there at the end of July 2023 and that was a mistake! the waitress was really rude (a French girl) have no manners, and when the check came out it was $195 for two bad margaritas and 4 shots ! They charged us multiple taxes when she saw that we didn't leave her a tip and asked to talk to the manager, because the final bill wasn't reflecting the prices that were on initially on the menu ! When the waitress noticed that she became aggressive she yelled on my face and pushed me with her pen !!! The manager seems to be really tired , weak overwhelmed, the only thing he said to us was to take free drinks.... you could tell it wasn't the first time he had to deal with people because of that French waitress!! We didn't want anything more from that place and we left. I should have called the police when she pushed me with her pen ! I am only rating the bar at night. So me and my friends went here on a Saturday night. We had to wait in line and go up the elevator. The line wasn't that long, I say about 10 people ahead of us, however it took like 30 minutes. And by the time we got there, it wasn't that crowded. I know lots of clubs/bar do this but it was far less crowded to make that kinda line. The employees were nice and friendly though. They were always greeting us and making small talk. The roof top itself is breathtaking and a great view of Miami Beach. They had lounge like seats around with water fountains at the side. The music that night was a mixture of hip hip and pop. Drinks were nice and strong. However the Long Island Ice Tea looked darker than usual so I am not sure the proportions were correct. It was more of a dark brown than a lighter one. We were at the Clevelander for a Raider party. We got there early and asked one of the servers if we can sit at a particular table for about 15min until the party started. She said it was a bottle service table but since it wasn't crazy crowded yet to go ahead and have a seat. We ordered a round of drinks (a round of many to come.) Shortly after 9pm the guys went upstairs to check out where the party was going to be. They returned and reported that it was a pretty small area. We were really liking where we were sitting, close to the bar, the dj and the dance floor. We ordered a couple more rounds and were very comfortable at our table. We asked our server Dre if she needed us to move. She said we were good. We assured her we would take care of her. We danced, drank and had a great time. There were a lot of Raider fans in town for the game so the DJ played a lot of Cali/Bay Area music. Back to Dre, she is the one that earned Clevelander 5 stars. It ended up getting super crowded and it was like we were her only customers. Our drinks were never empty and she checked on us regularly. My husband and I shared with Dre that both our Moms were servers when we were kids and we have nothing but respect for anyone who can deal with the public in that way. We ended ups staying until after 3am because we were having such a great time. Thank you Clevelander for showing the Bay Area and Raider fans a great time. Let's be real, the Clevelander doesn't have a whole lot of basic amenities, like a coffee maker. The rooms are small but i expected it because it is an old hotel. Also, if you're looking for a hotel where you can enjoy he peace and quiet, this isn't the hotel for you. However, what the Clevelander lacks in amenities and services, they more than make up in service. The staff were incredibly hospitable and accommodating and did their best to make our stay enjoyable and comfortable with what they had. A few standouts--Jamal at the front desk. We stayed at the hotel for a week and after a night of partying in South Beach, he was a welcome face at the end of the night that told us, "we're home!" He always had a smile on his face, was efficient, treated us like we were a guest in his own home. At check out, Christtina was super knowledgable and had the answers to all of our quesions. Usually, when you're trying to catch a plane, the checkout process can be traumatic. But Christina got us checked out fast and efficiently and detailed our folio charges in a way that made it understandable. Overall, my experience with the staff more than made up for the lack of amenities that the Clevelander had. Great service is hard to find nowadays. read more

The Clevelander is an awesome place to grab a drink and soak in the vibe in Miami Beach. After a stroll down Ocean drive, the man and I decided to grab a seat at the bar and grab a drink. I LOVED my pina colada which was made just right while Shane got a beer... Our bartender was awesome enough to take our pictures. Their pool is just a few steps away from their bar but no one was enjoying the pool while we were there. They include an 18% gratuity in your bill so you don't have to worry about adding it on. The hotel is small. 1st things 1st, why is there only one elevator in the entrance and it is by the kitchen?? Too much traffic in one area. The decor is very basic and the rooms are small and plain. Fun Spot, prime location. Came here for a pool party on a Saturday. It was crowded but not uncomfortably. The music was awesome, they were playing all the good good stuff. If you like to dance and jam out, this is your spot. The bartenders were good enough, we kept a tab opened and stuck to coronas which i think ran us 7 dollars a pop, not bad. If you wanted to you could add on a tequila shot for 5 bucks (that was their special), I didn't take advantage, tequila and I don't jive well. At one point it started down pouring on us but it didnt matter because it was nothing but good vibes here. We attempted to come back here on Sunday night but the crowd seemed to be somewhat different, so we passed. I would definitely recommend this spot for day drinkign/pool party. People watching is a must because you will see every type of person. Roof top is crazy! Coconut mojitos all day! Very touristy but at the same time locals hang here too. However hotel's SAFETY is quick to respond to ANY noise complaints. If you want tranquility stay at the sister property-The Essex and party to your heart's content at the Clevander. Good points: friendly and accomodating check-in (we changed room twice due to noise from pool). Concierge as well as female staffer from NY Eric/Wally were extra attentaive to any needs. PROS: Crab legs for $15 on SPF deck. CONS: NO outisde alcohol is allowed on premise. read more

I had a pleasant stay at the Clevelander Hotel. It was absolutely an amazing experience and the staff particularly (Eric at the front desk) was very friendly, respectable, knowledgeable and did everything in his power to make our stay comfortable. Here are some other key facts that I really enjoyed. The rooms were spotless, bed sheets smelt clean and pearly white. The bathroom was clean with more than enough towels and other bathroom; stuff, shampoo, soap, etc. The bar at the side of the building was fun filled with good music and a humongous TV that aired the 2018 FIFA World Cup, that I enjoyed. Enough space to roam and not overcrowded, live music, a few different bars, certainly, some good vibes going on here. The breakfast was tasteful too. The cost of the room was pretty good. I paid $90 dollars for a double queen bedroom which included free breakfast. Take into consideration that in summer it's low season, obviously, the price doubles in winter... lol.. On the flip-side, 4 things which had nothing to do with this hotel, but I just want to add it in my review to warn folks who might be visiting Miami Beach for the first time. We took a cab from the airport and the dispatcher said it would cost us $35 to get to South Beach. It turned out after we arrived, the cabbie (a Haitian guy) told us $45, I asked why?... He (Jeueue Jean Roosevelt, the taxi driver, not sure about the correct spelling of his first name) said, we were responsible for the tol. Turned out, he lied. Eric at the front desk of the Hotel told us, the Hotel will ensure that when we were going back to the airport that this doesn't happen again. Secondly, look out for girls hustling you to buy them drinks, food and hooker. It didn't happen to me, but someone that was sitting next to us in the restaurant. Two young ladies supposedly from Atlanta, did it to this one guy. They promised him to go to his room in exchange for a good time at the restaurant. Then told him after they had finished eating, drinking and smoking his hooker away, that they had to use the bathroom, but never came back. Felt sorry for the guy. Thirdly, the ladies working at the Bolivar Restaurant Bar, on 841 Washington Ave, seems prejudice. Around 12 noon last Monday (June 18th, 2018), my friend and I walked in and ordered two drinks, the ladies were looking at us very weird and I can assure you that I am no bad or hostile looker. I am a respectable middle age man, dresses nice (no hoodie), I'm just of color. Anyways, the waitress came over, took our order and half hour later we are still there waiting, even after a second request. Two couples came in after us (they both looked like hispanic?!?!)..... And in 3 minutes they had their drinks in-front of them, we were like, really !!!.... We left, my money was too good to be spent there, never again, even if they were the last restaurant in the world, I'd prefer eat raw fish.... lol.. By the way, if you are going to Miami South Beach, be prepare to spend a pretty penny. Two (2) drinks, one pina-colada and one double shot of vodka, cost us $74 dollars and that's no lie, my eye-balls actually jump out of the socket. Can't remember the name of the Bar, but it's the one right next to the Hotel, when you exit the Hotel front door, it's on the right. Overall, it was a great experience, Miami, definitely taught us a few things and I thought NY was bad. read more

Great drinks, not so great food. My boyfriend and I stopped by the Clevelander around lunch time after a morning at the beach. Everyone was in beachy attire in swimsuit cover-ups and T-shirts so we there was no need for us to change clothes, perfect! The first thing I noticed when we sat down was how affordable the drinks were compared to other places we had been to in South Beach. Frozen drinks were $11 for the small and $2 for an extra shot. A lot of the other restaurants in SoBe had cocktails ranging from $15-20 so this was a pretty good price. My boyfriend and I ended up sharing a large Miami Vice (45 oz) for $30 with an extra shot for $2. It was delish! However we really could've used a couple of more shots added to it because even with the added shot neither of us got tipsy. We also ordered the Seafood dip which I expected to be a warm creamy dip but instead it came out resembling coleslaw. The seafood dip was cold and had shredded vegetable and chunks of crab meat. Super friendly and easy check-in experience. Upon arrival we magically had complimentary drinks in our hands. They were sticky sweet blended something, but I appreciate the gesture and it did kind of get us in that "I'm in Miami, let's get the party started" kinda mood. We were allowed to check in early which was great because we could soak up as much sun as possible at the hotel's rooftop and pool areas. On a tip from other reviews, we did not fall for the special pricing on Pool View rooms and it was well worth our money to upgrade to Ocean View. The Pool View would put you so close to the pounding club music (open til 5am mind you) that you would be forced to stay up and party until that time because there would be no sleep to be had. We came here knowing it was a party spot, but I'm on more of a passing out by 2am schedule. That's just me... That said, we could still hear the music in our Ocean View room! So I can only imagine what the people in rooms closer to the pool side were hearing. It was a managable volume though. Our view was pretty nice, however across the street from the hotel is a park, then the beach. So the water is actually a bit farther away than I expected. I don't know why I was put in a room with 2 double beds instead of one queen/king. My boyfriend is 6'3" and the bed was just way too small for us, but other than that the room was bright and clean and well put together. Totally beach appropriate with white linens and blue and sand colored accents. The C-Level rooftop deck was my favorite area. It was a little smaller than I hoped, but there were plenty of cabanas and lounge chairs, a nice water feature, and a fabulous view. Maybe this was because we were there on a Thursday, but there was no bar open up there! We ended up walking down to the main pool bar area to get drinks and then taking them back up with us. Most likely a blessing in disguise since 2 mojitos set us back $24 so having limited bar access limited the money going down the drain. The second rooftop area, SPF4, was a total letdown. It was tiny and there was just nothing to really keep you there. Looks much nicer in pictures. The main pool area was kind of dirty and didn't attract me (other than to grab drinks). The pool is pretty much a waste of space since they just cover it up with a stage for spring break style activities (when we headed out for dinner it was set up with beer pong tables, when we returned late at night it was the dance floor). All the lounge chairs you'd expect around a pool are only found in the rooftop areas, the pool area is really just the bar and restaurant. The restaurant didn't really suck us in either, we ventured out to find something more interesting and were happy we did. I think overall for the price and location it's a good stop on a Miami trip as long as you're aware of the spring break vibe. The other places that we liked more we couldn't have afforded, so it worked out just fine. read more

During the days, we went up to the rooftop which was surprisingly empty and enjoyed drinks and the wonderful views. I really didn't want to leave that area - it was so relaxing. I can't vouch for staying in the hotel - although it looked nice. But if you are looking to stay here, be warned that it is a rather loud place and not great if you are the type of person who prefers to go to bed at 10pm. first time in Miami, me and the guys decided to stay here which I regret the room not what it seems. Check in was 4, my room wasn't ready til 4:30pm. I witnessed the lovely front desk agent Ms.Precious working hard with suitcases all over her work area and for it to only be her there. I also witness her get called a "Bitch and useless" from a white guy and just continue to do her job. Great job!!! As i was checking out this morning i also seen her opening envelopes counting so many recipes. They charged me 700 for 20 shots, i didn't wanna party no more. The food was okay could be better.
