Having now been to Clementeam twice (and to Clementines 5 times) it pains me to write this review. We came for dinner last night and were prepared for a great experience. Every restaurant has a bad night and we just happened to experience this last night. To start, we shared a Calamari Appetizer (special) that was cooked to perfection. The calamari was crispy, as requested, and came with a spicy sauce accented with crumbled bleu cheese. The bread was also excellent. Entrees consisted of Crab Cakes, Grilled Blackened Tuna and the Catfish Special. Here is where things went downhill - the crab cakes were noticeably dark and the mashed potatoes were underwhelming. The tuna was not medium rare, as requested and was also quite dark. While two of the sides were piping hot and quite tasty (jambalaya with andouille sausage and corn maque choux), the hush puppies looked like black golf balls. The blackened catfish was delicious and the plating was very nice. What happened? Old oil for some of the preparation? New help in the kitchen? I don't know but it needs to be looked into. Our server, JP, was excellent and attentive and conveyed our concerns to the kitchen. That said, we will return in the future as I believe this was a "one off". Today was our maiden voyage to Clementeams. Love the ambiance, food was very good, our waitress, Leah, was excellent,.though it was a bit of a turn off when we asked for just a little more bread and was told we couldnt. .. what I didn't love was the extra cost for using a charge card. I own my small business and will not make that discrimination between those who pay cash and those who don't. I never ask when I make a reservation but when I find out, upon our arrival, it's the last time we frequent the establishment. The extra high cost being charged isn't even the cost the establishments are paying for the charge & if it is your being ripped of by the merchant services being used. There are many restaurants that don't charge the extra cost. I hope you reconsider.. we'd love to come back some day. It is your choice as a business owner to accept charge cards. Don't penalize your patrons for choices you make to run your business. Without your customers you don't have a business. read more

We were customers at Clementines and recently went to Clementeams which was purchased by some of the staff. They have maintained the high standards we were used to. My wife's eggplant dinner was great. She let me try it, and it was fantastic. I had a special for the evening, boneless short ribs, which were very good. The service was excellent. Went to Clementeams's last night night. Used to be Clementine's in Avon. Same great food now owned by the staff after the owners retired. They have a 3 course special app, entree and dessert for $40 running through June and then again in the fall. Everything we had was delicious and the staff knowledgeable and friendly. They are packed on weekends. Reservations have to be made through yelp. It is a BYOB. Highly recommend. read more

We have been there twice already during this week. We brought family and friends on Monday evening, and then we had a Rowan college reunion there on Thursday evening with our college roommates from over 20 years ago. A couple of our friends have never been to this restaurant, and they LOVED it!!!! The ambiance, the staff, the food, everything is always exceptional! We are going again tonight. Friends of ours visit from NY, and they say, "Let's go to Clementeam's. We know it is always great!" If there was a way to give rate with 20 stars, I would !!!! read more

Everything about this hidden gem is what makes it so special. The employees are like a big family and make you feel right at home as soon as you walk in. The decor is cozy and the food is so good. You wont find much of their offerings on any other menus locally. Their draw is in the atmosphere, friendly servers, and food you are not going to see anywhere else. Fine dining at its best. Amazing food that is really flavorful and has a kick to it. I had really good seafood gumbo, jambalaya and catfish. The atmosphere is unique with different vibes going on. I love it nevertheless. This is the "Real Deal." A rarity in an area bereft of ethnic cuisines. Unless you're a gafone who thinks Italian and Greek Diners are exotic eateries. There's Not a fake bone in this establishment. A triple play, which any baseball fan can tell you is a rarity. A combination of ambience, food, and service. A perfectly designed and decorated interior that will whisk you away to a different place in time. A genuinely friendly and informed wait staff eager to please, that you feel have a stake in your happiness and satisfaction. Finally the food, authentic served hot and just the right combination of flavors and ingredients on every dish. From the gumbo to the jambalaya to the blackened catfish, various salads and sides, but save room for dessert. The gooey cake didn't appeal to me on the menu, but when I had a shared bite it exploded in my mouth and I had to order one for myself. I didn't even have a chance to eat my beloved bread pudding. Next time and they'll be plenty of visits I guarantee that. Come here, but make reservations, you won't be disappointed if you love authentic Cajun food. read more

Just had a fabulouse dinner @ Clementeam--consisting of their Zydeco Gumbo as my starter that was followed by tonight's Blackened Mahi=Mahi special. Myfellow dinners enjoyed their Blackened Tuna and Blackened Catfish entrees, as well as their shared Beet, Shrimo & Feta Cheese Salad, Very pleasant server and prompt service. This was our 4th visit under the new ownership and they have not missed a beat since the changing of the guard! Get there before the Summer crowds come! read more
