While visiting the area, I was disappointed with the lack of decently rated restaurants and was interested in India Garden because of their 4+ stars. Greeted upon arriving by a friendly host, the restaurant looked well maintained, clean and not too crowded. The server was fast, accommodating and understanding that l needed more time to read the menu. Having only had Indian cuisine a couple times, I was looking for familiar dishes to compare, and was not disappointed. The aroma was tremendous, and the flavors matched. Everything was cooked perfectly with excellent seasoning and presentation. The quantity was enough to take home leftovers, which tasted as good the next day when reheated. If I am ever in the area again, I will be sure to make another visit. read more

We were looking for a Peruvian restaurant nearby and by chance we saw India Garden Restaurant in Belmar fully packed. My friend and I decided to give it a try. It was just a small restaurant probably about 40 person capacity. We waited to be seated and ordered. The place was good and clean, the service was good and the food was just okay though. We tried Chili Gobi, Chicken Masala, Butter Naan and Lamb Biryani. Nothing spectacular though with the food we ordered. The lamb was a bit chewy. I should say that this restaurant may not be the best Indian Restaurant I have tried. Hyderabad Spice in Matawan is still the first in my list. Nothing much of complaints though. Maybe some on their menu are much better than what we had. read more

We enjoyed a delicious dinner at India Gardens on Friday evening. The ambience was quite pleasant with some relaxing Indian entertainment playing in the background on a screen. We began with the savory samosas and coconut naan, an excellent way to start our meal. For entrees, we had the Mugalai Chicken Korma and the Goat Curry. The chicken dish included large pieces of tender mildly spiced white meat, surrounding by an array of vegetables. The goat was mostly deboned and the curry sauce was flavorful. The portions were large and we took home enough for another meal. The service was prompt and friendly. A mango lassi was a tasty beverage to accompany the food,. We will return to the Indian Garden soon. There are many India restaurants in Monmouth County now, but India Garden is one of the best. read more

I heard and read good things about this new Indian restaurant, so we decided to try it early Friday evening. So glad we did. It is a small place, about 40 seats, in "Belmar Mall" near several other eateries. This place is a BYOB. If you forget to bring wine or beer, there is a liquor store across the parking lot. Ambiance is pleasant. They had a TV playing clips from Bollywood cinema - Indian men and women singing and dancing. Service was very attentive. I asked the owner where they were from. He said Goa. FYI, when Britain ruled over 99% of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, there were a few small colonies controlled by other foreign powers. Portugal ruled over Goa, a beautiful area on the Southwest coast of India. Among the results is a cuisine that is a bit different from typical Indian food. Try it, you will love it! We started sharing an appetizer of two vegetable samosas, yummy. For entrees, we shared Prawn Pepper Masala and Saag Veg, with a naan and a roti, and, of course rice is included. Everything was simply delicious and good size portions. Total bill with tax and tip only $70. We have eaten a lot of Indian food: in India, in Britain, and in many places in the United States. India Garden ranks up there with the best. I hope that people in the Belmar area can appreciate how lucky they are to have delicious Indian food here at reasonable prices. Just had another great meal at India Garden. This time I started off with the lamb nachos that were absolutely incredible! Creamy, slow cooked lamb with great toppings and tons of flavor. I had their fresh garlic naan again which was perfect and for the entree did a pistachio veg korma which had such a unique flavor and lots of fresh veggies. Great Indian restaurant. It had a wide selection of dishes, including vegan/vegetarian ones and very interesting naan options. The food was fresh and flavorful. It was quiet on the night we went (a Monday) so service was attentive, and also polite and friendly. Three of us were there for an early dinner. Thr mulligatawny soup was very flavorful.. We had fried vegetables for an appetizer that were crisp and not oily, served with 2 different dipping sauces. Probably the best Indian food we've had in a very long while. They haven't made the restaurant anything overtly indian, but the food more than makes up for it. The only thing i haven't seen is onion kulcha bread, but the garlic nan & roti are awesome. I prefer the chana masala in redder sauce - they have another version which is slightly lighter & different tasting. Try the salmon tikka masala if you're a pescatarian. It's stupendous! My son tried the goat vindaloo & said he preferred the lamb (without the bones). Taste wise, both dishes were a big hit! The samosas are excellently done: light pastry & excellent with tamarind sauce! They do a great job with the bread for takeouts. You'll enjoy the food at home almost as much as u will ordering right there. read more

Great Indian food in a small unassuming location. The Belmar mall has a whole row of small restaurants, and it is easy to overlook India Garden. That would be a mistake. We liked some of the southern India choices that are not on every menu at every Indian restaurant. We were there off season, so the place was not overcrowded, but it's a good idea to use the reservation tab an ensure a place. The chicken hariyali tikka was great. We were only in town for 5 days, but we went back twice. They have a buffet lunch as I recall, but we were not in Belmar most lunch times, so didn't get to try it. That could be an excellent way to try the place. read more

We have been to this restaurant a few times since they have opened. We love it because it's close to us and we have had positive experiences eating here the last two times. However, on the third time we had a different vibe. We showed up a little on the later side one night and the portions were skimpier but again, it was ok we brushed it off. The more concerning thing to us was that upon paying for our check, we were made aware that if you tip on the credit card that it goes to management. Absurd! Luckily I had cash to tip the waiter, but after hearing this I do not think I will come back. I would rather take the drive to Mauka. In this economy it is disheartening to hear that the owners of this establishment are taking the credit card tips! Beware! Bring CASH to tip if you plan to eat here. read more

So excited to have an Indian restaurant so close to the shore. Enjoyed Samosas, paneer tikka masala, Cheese naan, and chicken korma. Everything was so flavorful. The staff was very busy with DoorDash and Takeout and were still very attentive to patrons eating in. I heard one person say to the server that they had eaten earlier this week and couldn't wait to come back again a few days later!! I was so excited to have leftovers which I cannot wait to enjoy. Second time at this restaurant and definitely a different feel. Not greeted when we entered. It is a rainy hot humid night, and the A/C is clearly not on. We were finally greeted, and a waiter took our order. Food took a bit to long and if the restaurant wasn't sweltering it would not have been so bad. Two other tables occupied and when they complained the owner turned on the wall A/C above the front door. Food was good not great. Restaurant is already showing age. Bottle of Windex sitting on the counter and seats not cleaned from previous diners. It makes me wonder that.. if he is trying to save on air-conditioning what other corners is he cutting. read more
