A few days ago a tire on my car went flat. I took it in and was told that my tire was breaking down and that all 4 needed to be replaced. I told them that was impossible - Clegg Auto in Provo had just put 4 brand new tires on the vehicle a little over a year ago. I was informed that my "new tires" had been manufactured in 2007 and that tires begin breaking down after about 5 years. Today I got more good news. Clegg Auto apparently not only sold me a set of old tires, but they replaced them with the wrong size. My car needs P215/55R16 size tires. The good folks at Clegg decided to slap on a set of P205/65/R16 tires. I was informed the wrong size tires not only don't wear right but can be extremely dangerous as well. This company was deceitful and dishonest in the worst way. They had a customer who they knew was moving out of the state - so with a lack of ethics, and a complete disregard for my safety (or the safety of anyone who may be traveling in my vehicle) they not only gave me substandard replacements, they topped them off with the wrong size tires as well. You're rolling the dice if you get your vehicle serviced here. If I could give "0" stars I would. read more

My AC stopped working in my car so I took it to the Subaru dealership that I bought it from, they quoted me $860 and said it wouldn't be done for a few days. I decided to take it to Clegg's instead, they got it done in one day and for $520. read more

My car suddenly started making terrible sounds, and was barely moving. I searched the closest auto shop, and Clegg auto came up. I had two young kids with me, and they treated me like garbage. All they said was sorry were a week out and there is nothing we can do for you. They couldn't even refer me to anyone else. I hope no one treats their wife or children they way they treated me, I was seriously shocked. I called Larsen Auto who said they were also a week out and they would look at it for me. They looked at it, said it was my transmission and didn't even charge me a dime, now that is humanity at it's finest. read more

I love these guys! I was first recommended to Clegg by a guy who worked at Jiffy Lube, he told me Clegg is the only place in Provo he would take his car. I was skeptical at first because I, like most, have had enough bad experiences with mechanics. I have now taken my car in several times with serious problems. The guys at Clegg have diagnosed two of my cars and havent charged me anything to do so. They have been so helpful every time I have called or went into the shop. They haven't actually done any work on my cars yet so I can't comment on that. The first car I needed estimates to battle with an insurance company after an accident. That eventually led to the insurance co. totaling out the car. The 2nd time I had just bought a used car and immediately noticed I was burning oil and they helped me prepare documentation to take back to the dealer from where I bought the car. So far every time I have dealt with these guys it has been an enjoyable experience and I would recommend them. read more

Somehow they had missed the leak in our air coolant system that our friend found while just looking at our car and were telling us about all these other problems we had. Great service, reliable, honest! I pride myself in being able to fix my own things and do a lot of car work myself. But I recently came across a more complicated issue that was going to require some experienced mechanics. I had been shopping around for a mechanic and clegg's was recommended to me. They got my car in the same day I called and within a couple hours they had diagnosed the issue, given me an estimate and began fixing it. We've been using them for around 12 years. We luckily haven't had to go in for a couple of years. With our visit that we just had they now add a $110 diagnostic which should tell me everything wrong with my car. They did one diagnostic and told us why our car wouldn't start. Then, the next morning when they called to tell us our car was ready they said that for another $110 they could tell us why our check engine light was on. The check engine light was on when the car was towed in. They also replaced our air filter that we told them NOT to do and charged us for it. They remind me of Allegiant Airlines and nickel and dime me for everything. We'll be looking for another local mechanic. read more

This is your typical auto place. They try to take advantage of young girls and it's ridiculous. I just needed my brake pads changed and they kept trying to up sell me to everything imaginable. The guy helping me insisted that I needed an oil change and wouldn't let it drop. I continued to refused even though he made me feel like a idiot. When I finally for my car back (sans oil change) and looked at my sticker from my previous oil change and I still had 800 miles to go before i technically needed another change. Clegg Auto should be the first place you consider when needing some work done on your car! Both of my experiences with Clegg have been amazing. The first time I took my car in, they took a few hours to dismantle my wheel (due to a scraping sound) only to find a rock no bigger than a 1/4 of an inch at the root of the problem. They charged me nothing! On my second visit, they did multiple services (oil change, serpentine belt replacement, courtesy check of the entire car, and a diagnostic test) in one business day and waited a few minutes after closing for me to get off work, return my rental car and pick up my car. One of the best parts was that I felt like they didn't try to swindle me out of my money just because I'm a woman. Not only that, they explained (in detail) everything from the diagnosis, symptoms and services needed. They gave me a clear breakdown of the cost of parts vs. labor as well as stuck true to the original quote they gave me. They are not the cheapest (and they'll admit that), but their prices are affordable/reasonable and their customer service/efficiency is by far worth a bit of extra money. Due to a technological glitch, they accidentally overcharged me for a service they didn't complete (new battery), but within 24 hours they called me, explained their mistake, apologized and refunded my money. I can't recommend Clegg Auto enough (especially Morgan and Ezekiel)! If they wouldn't do it to their own car or to their mom/sister/wife's car, they won't do it to yours. They have made a dedicated customer in me. read more

Yesterday my wife had the check engine light along with other warnings pop up in her suv so she took it to Clegg Auto because it was close by at the time. Turns out we had transmission fluid leaks and some hoses along with a sensor that needed replacing. The work was more expensive than it needed to be but the employees were friendly and they did a good job so whatever. The main thing we're upset about was being charged $95 for the (very brief) diagnosis on top of the $700+ for the repairs. I've never heard of a mechanic that charges you for a diagnosis even when you decide to go through with the repairs. Supposedly my wife was told "very clearly" that even if we decided to repair everything that she would still be charged the $95 for the diagnosis. Needless to say, she and I were both surprised and will definitely not be going back to pay $95 see what's wrong with our cars in the future. read more

My son had a serious suspension problem with his SUV, which, one, ocurred far from my regular mechanic, and two, looked quite expensive to repair based on the photos my son sent. Clegg gave us quote less than what my local mechanic thought it would cost, and had it up and running the next day. I feel that the price was honest work for the severity and the problem was fixed right the first time. Highly recommend this shop. read more

Ever since going to them with my '97 Subaru, they've been amazing. I had a weird noise coming from the car and took it to them. They explained that the noise was coming from a heat guard on the bottom of the car that was getting loose, and said it wasn't anything wrong with the engine and said I could leave it on or have them take it off. I opted to leave it on. When I got the car back, the noise was totally gone...they had fixed it without charging me anything. Now I have a newer Subaru and I trust them with all the work I have done on it. They keep it running beautifully. They are the best. So sad I'm moving away soon, because I had found my lifetime mechanics here at Clegg! read more

I do not like having to take my car in to he mechanic because it normally takes a very long time to get it back. Clegg Auto got me in and out within 20 minutes. I have been going to Clegg Auto for a few years and my experience has been good, but recently I had a bad experience that made me switch to another shop. I had them do a transmission flush. After the flush I had a noticeable transmission leak. I figured it was from their work so I took it in. They checked and said they couldn't find anything, but I could pay 80 dollars for a more in depth diagnoses. If it turned out to be their fault, they would pay for the repairs. I didn't want to pay 80 bucks so I took it to another place. They checked it for free, found that it was the transmission lines (which were taken off during the original flush), and then fixed it for free. The other shop just won a new customer. read more

I've been taking my cars here for four years and they provide great service that is under warranty. I've had the work redone under warranty for free a year later on a couple occasions. They do charge a bit more than other shops but it is worth it to have happy and honest mechanics working on your vehicle. Better to go somewhere else if you only want your tires rotated.
