Moda Insurance patients, be warned. While this clinic is listed as in-network with Moda, their…read morebilling practices can result in unexpected, out-of-network-level charges due to how they handle Moda's annual vision benefit limits. Moda allows vision providers to balance bill once you exceed your yearly vision benefit (typically $250, $400, or $600 depending on your plan). Some providers voluntarily honor in-network pricing even after that cap is reached--this provider does not. Instead, they charge full higher fees once your benefit is maxed out. Examples: * A standard glasses exam was billed at $250. * A contact lens exam was billed at $480--just for the exam. * For a single pair of glasses, I was billed $327 for the frames, $390 for the lenses, plus an additional $255 in uncovered upgrades--a total of $972 for one pair of glasses. A quick google search shows these exact frames have pricing from $115 to $150, this office outrageously overprices their frames. This means you can reach your plan maximum without even covering the cost of the exam, leaving everything else--exam overages, frames, lenses, contacts--billed at out-of-pocket, non-discounted rates. On top of this: * Their billing is incredibly error-prone. Of the five insurance claims submitted for my family, four were incorrect, primarily due to missing or incomplete charge details. * They over collected at the time of service and have not issued timely refunds. I am currently waiting on two separate refunds, one for services rendered four months ago, and another from three months ago--still unresolved. * They upsold glasses upgrades without clearly disclosing that these options are not covered by insurance, leading to more surprise charges. * And when you try to resolve issues, the billing office is condescending, dismissive, and unresponsive. In summary, this office appears to leverage technicalities in insurance policy to maximize patient costs and hence provider profits, while offering little transparency and poor customer service in return. If you rely on Moda Insurance--or just want transparent, respectful service--I recommend looking elsewhere.

Due to a few years of procrastination and then COVID, it had been 6 years since our last eye exams and getting new glasses, so we were long overdue -- when road signs become almost too blurry to see while driving, you KNOW it's time to stop procrastinating. I checked the website and I liked that appts were required so that customer visits could be spaced out in order to limit the number of people sitting in the waiting area at any one time. We were the only ones waiting when we arrived. The reception desk is directly in front when you enter and we were warmly greeted immediately. To save time, we had filled out all our paperwork online so we were all checked in. I am bad about remembering names but everyone we came in contact with was friendly and seemed like they truly enjoyed their job. There is a private parking lot and the inside of the building seemed fairly newly remodeled and was clean and well organized. Everyone is masked and masks are still required for anyone entering the building. The one person's name I did remember (as well as her great glasses!) was Lindsey (sp). I was pretty anxious about my exam since it had been so long since my last one and I'm not getting any younger these days. Lindsey expertly guided me through all the fun eye tests and answered all my questions. Dr Tammy Nguyen did our exams. She was so nice and professional and explained everything she was doing as she examined my eyes and had me read all those eye charts. I especially loved that for an extra fee, you can have a digital scan of your eyes rather than those annoying dilation drops. I was especially worried about age-related macular degeneration as both of my parents had it. Dr Nguyen assured me that there was no indication of it but I did have a few cataracts that were normal for someone my age, so we'll need to keep an eye on it. Except for the normal changes all our eyes go through, I was relieved to know that everything was OK and all I needed were new prescription lenses. After the exam, I was escorted to the room where you choose your new frames. Everything was organized and displayed in a way that made sense. I'm kinda overwhelmed by too many choices, like kid in a candy store with a dollar to spend. Again, I didn't get her name but the young technician who helped me was professional and patient so I put myself completely in her hands. She helped me pick out two new pair of glasses that fit and flattered my face (I chose the Ray-Ban aviator-style sunglasses, the only style I will wear). And I'm not going to lie, prices aren't as low as Costco but the selection is excellent and you do get what you pay for. My husband even found a pair of wrap-around sunglasses he hasn't been able to find anywhere else. We were both very happy with the customer service, our frame and lens choices and the experience overall. Can't wait until our glasses are ready! Tigard Vision Center is a solid 5 stars.

For years I saw Dr. Shannon, but since she left the practice, I've been seeing Dr. Brad. The clinic is modern, clean and has all the bells and whistles (flat screen TV in the waiting room, chocolate treats on the counter, magazines from this millennium). My annual eye exams are always quick and painless - I don't even have to study. But the glaucoma test where they puff air into your eye makes me jump every time. They also push a high-tech retinal scan, called OPTOMAP, with the zealousness of a used car salesman. No thank you! They have a good selection of high quality frames in the attached store, but over the years, both my husband and I have had to return lenses or frames that weren't done right the first time. We haven't had any trouble exchanging items, but it was a hassle and waste of time going back and forth.

I had Shay help me pick out my frames when I was there in the fall and she was WONDERFUL. I, however, was NOT wonderful to my glasses. No no. I scratched not ONE but BOTH LENSES right in the middle of the lens. Grrr. So I figured oh well I'm just going to have to pay for new lenses. I got them in November and it's July!! Well the day I called Alexa answered bright and cheery as usual. I told her my sad story and she asked for my information so she could look up my account. Well I apparently had a TWO year warranty for scratches!!! Yeeeehaw!! So she said NO PROBLEM, we will just order the new lenses and then call you when they come in. You can swing by anytime it's convenient to get them swapped out! After about two weeks I realized that I hadn't given her my new phone number. So even IF she called she wouldn't get me! Lol. So I called and (yup Alexa again!) She said hey!!! We have your lenses!! I popped in the next day and it was just her and Shay (I apologize if I've misspelled your name!) They got right to it and Shay had a hard time cleaning my glasses as I'd put these cheap plastic pads on to keep them from sliding lol She took those off, reshaped them and I keep them on my nose and then got back to cleaning the lenses. She went back again into the room Alexa had swapped the lenses out and called Alexa in. They found a HUGE scratch on my NEW lenses!! Then as she finally got rhem cleaned and fitted, she found another on the other lens. I was not upset because what can you do right? But Shay said THIS isn't acceptable. She said try he first thing the next day she'd call the lab to expedite me a new pair of lenses. That would only have been a week tomorrow. I was VERY impressed, again with th level OF POST service/appointment care. They genuinely care and genuinely like what they do. That's clear. I'll keep going here as long as they'll see me!! Love the staff and love my glasses!! And I KNOW I'll have some new lenses soon too. Which will be checked and double checked before they call me lol
