Dr. Yost is worth following. I was seeing him at the former partner location in Tigard (as Beaverton is a bit farther for me,) but I was SO happy to learn that he was staying with the practice so I am glad to go to Beaverton. He is very thoughtful and thorough in his examinations. He doesn't skip anything, he makes sure the patient is comfortable and that you truly understand everything he's telling you. I did splurge on new glasses since I got just "computer" glasses for work and my progressive lenses weren't working for my job as I stare directly AT a computer screen for 8 hours everyday. Truthfully though, the service here is better than a chain. You get doctors who CARE and know what they're doing. HIGHLY recommend it. Another reviewer posted an update in November to their reviewer which I could not agree more with. My last two visits sealed it and I switched places. The customer service is now shockingly poor. Just getting the initial appointment seemed ridiculous while the person scheduling me seemed to be rolling her eyes when I had the nerve to be questioning what their latest and earliest appointments are. They are close to my house but I work close to Hillsboro which can be tricky to get to or from sometimes. Saturday appointments are not available and even regular appointments are booked out for weeks - perhaps they are so busy that they just don't care? I genuinely do not drive around during the day. I also was not aware they have half of Beaverton under construction so I was running late by about 10 minutes. The entire lobby was full of people and the person at the front had a conversation with the eye person who I think my appointment was with.... the eye person glared weirdly at me. Was it my cane? I was super confused and trying to get to the counter around all the people storming their counter. The person at the counter had wandered away, then over five minutes later they come back finally to say I was now over 15 minutes past my appointment so he would have to reschedule me? I get it if I actually was THAT late and seriously, making the appointment the first time with a person talking down to me was already challenging weeks before but this just seemed like they overbooked and were finding an excuse to just get rid of me. I've been going to Beaverton Vision World for many years. I recently had cataract surgery so no longer need "regular" glasses, However, I had a pair of sunglasses with fairly expensive frames and wanted to get non-Rx polarized sunglass lenses put in. I was planning a vacation very soon where I would be driving and really needed sunglasses. Since I was at my final post-op visit, I thought I would check with the optical outfit at my doctor's office just to see what they would charge and how long it would take. The optician there told me that it would be 2-3 weeks for them to get the glasses back, he really couldn't say how long it would take. He also quoted a pretty high price ($165 higher than what BVW ultimately charged me). Anyway, that wouldn't work so I went to BVM and asked if there was any way I could get the glasses back within a week. Sean (not sure if I picked the right spelling) was great, He said he could do it inhouse and maybe get it done in the next day or so. I told him any time would be great as long as it was before I was leaving. Imagine my shock when he called me a couple of hours later to say the glasses were ready! I would say this is pretty extraordinary service, way above and beyond. read more

Absolutely the worst lenses I've ever had. I kept getting what appeared to be a "chip" near the edge of my frames. They replaced my lenses twice, went through 3 sets of lenses. They told me I purchased the top of the line lenses, best ones they carry. In addition to the "chip" they would instantly get scratched. On one I had a huge scratch that blurred my vision. I use my glasses very delicately and always had them in a case of not wearing them. In the end, I was fed up and they simply couldn't figure out why this was happening. I went to another place, took the glasses with me. The new optometrist looked at the glasses and she could visibly see that the point of vision was crooked. She said they accounted for the difference in my ear height by skewing the vision field instead of fitting the frames properly to my face. No wonder my glasses were always crooked and my vision was off! She said they fit the lenses too tight in the frames, which is why I was getting the chips. (Vision World said it was a defect in the lens. Really? Three times in a row??) Also, my Rx was pretty far off as they'd been giving me bifocals instead of progressives. And to top it all off, she said the lenses they used are not top of the line, not even close. I mean, my glasses were really cheap. I think I only paid $80 for the lenses. Totally bad experience here. I wouldn't trust them with my eyesight and would never purchase glasses here. Only benefit is they carry lots of styles and top brand names. read more

Part 1. I lost my glasses. Now if you know me, you'd say "what glasses?" Because I've been wearing them for distance for years ( driving, movies, school) but not much else. Most people don't see me in them very often. Then a couple things happened. First I turned 40coughcoughfive. Then the eyedoctor suggested bifocals ( oh you can sweetly call them progressive lenses but we all know what they REALLY are...OLD LADY GLASSES). Um. NO. Just go ahead and add them on a chain around my neck already too. Ugh. The doctor didn't push that yet because I gave her the stink eye. More time went by. Once during a meeting I couldn't read some paperwork and my boss silently handed me HER cheapie glasses from the pharmacy. Grudgingly, I admit they helped. But I refuse to be old. Er. Until I lost my glasses. And since my double coverage will end soon for relationship reasons, I thought I'd better bite the bullet and get this done. I figured out my eyeglass benefits, got my prescription and read yelp for clues. I landed here. Beaverton Vision World. Ironically I'd never seen it before and I drive by it all the time. I went in on a Friday afternoon at 4:15. They close at five. The nice women behind the desk looked up my vision benefits. The one young woman asked me what I wanted and I told her "nerdy cat eyes tortoiseshell maybe". She said "finally something interesting!" and found me lots of frames. I noticed each frame she found was progressively more expensive. I liked one of the first two. The final ones I chose were about $200. When I landed on the shape I wanted I got a new person to help me. I asked why and he said "I'm an optician" and she's not an optician. He worked out the costs adding in anti reflective this and super iodized that ( ok not really but its like the mumbo jumbo at the car dealer) until I was done. He also mentioned I had beautiful eyes which I bet he tells all the ladies. I ordered a pair of Juicy Couture frames ( I'm kinda embarrassed by that but I liked them best and as my girlfriends pointed out at least its not emblazoned on my tush). They're supposed to be in in 6-10 days. I paid $178 for them. They make you pay in advance. Ill let you know how it goes. As an fyi they do eye exams and they have all kinds of designer frames and sporty glasses (Oakleys and Ray Banz) too. The least expensive frames I tried were $100 and the most were $300. Boy I'm glad I had double coverage. Stay tuned tor results!! Part 2 My glasses came in in about 14 days ( Thanksgiving was in the middle of that so its ok) and I'm having trouble adjusting to the progressive lenses. When I went in to get them the man explained they would take a while to get used to. He adjusted them for me and it was a quick and easy pickup. My only issue is they weren't the frames I'd picked, they were the same brand and shape and everything, just a different color. I had originally said tortoisseshell but as I tried frames on I'd liked some with a purple tint. Maybe in transitioning from one salesperson to the "specialist" that wasn't communicated. I dont know. But I'd seen the purple tinted ones go in a box with my prescription so I'm baffled by the outcome. I'm not sure I like them as much as my first choice. I was tired the night I picked them up and just wanted to go home so I didn't say anything..I just wanted to be done. My family really likes them so I'm going to keep them and hope they grow on me. He gave me an exam and determined that my problem was the beginning of cataracts. Instead of selling me another pair of glasses that would not be effective, he explained the progression of cataracts and the proper time for surgery. He did not even charge me for the exam. I had a wonderful eye doctor back in California, and have had a difficult time finding another eye clinic that I liked as much. I don't go very often to see a doctor or dentist, but when I do, I want it to be a good experience. These are people putting their hands on/in various parts of your body, and while that may be a fun Saturday night, it's not my idea of a good time inside a clinic. Dr. Harris and his team are awesomesauce, seriously. This will be my eye place as long as I live in Oregon. I was visiting Oregon from California and had a bad eye infection. Thankfully I found Beaverton Vision World which was not far from my hotel. I called and the lady that picked up the phone was extremely helpful and was able to get me an appointment right away due to it's urgency. I believe her name was Irene she was so friendly! I met with Dr. Harris who was knowledgeable and was able to get me the prescription I needed to treat my eye infection. Since I was traveling he gave me his cell number which came in handy since finding the medication I needed on the way back to California was not easy. I was able to contact him off hours and gave me a new prescription that was available at the pharmacy. My eye felt better in a day and was back to normal in about 4 days. I came up to visit family a while ago and needed eye care. They fit me in and took great care of me. I recently got the statement for my share of cost and called to have the office person explain it to me since it was a little higher than I expected. She was SO NICE. She totally walked me through my insurance, how things were applied between insurance and my share of cost, and most importantly she was patient. Insurance stuff is so overwhelming. Every time I think I understand my benefits there's something new to figure out! Anyway, I think her name was Britney, and I just feel so relieved she's the one who helped me. I have pretty bad issues with dry eyes and have been working with an optometrist for a couple of years. The "fix" that they had recommended was way too expensive for me and I sought out a second opinion. Dr. Harris was very thorough in collecting my past history and had actually noted that my prior optometrist was over correcting my astigmatism (which explained why I couldn't see with my right eye even with glasses on). He also gave me a lot of recommendations on how to improve my general eye health and my dry eyes. He answered all my questions and explained everything well. Highly recommend Dr. Harris! read more

I have a very strong prescription: -4 & -3.50. I have a big head and I love Oakley sunglasses. My prescription is too strong, so Oakley refused to make an RX lenses for me. Beaverton Vision World offered to make me a custom non-Oakley RX lenses to fit onto an Oakley Hoolbrook Metal. It took 3 months and lots of defects, but I finally got them. I'm very happy with them. I expected issues since I'm asking them to stretch the limits of their tools to make my custom order. If you need custom lenses, this is a good place to go visit. read more

I went to Beaverton Vision World on the recommendation of my husband's colleagues as we had recently moved. I went for my yearly check-up and Dr. Harris exuded a very lackadaisical, unprofessional vibe which was off putting; it felt like he didn't have much of an interest in this line of work. (I've never had this impression from any of the other optometrists I've been to in my life, which is why it was so notable.) During the exam he made remarks about my profession that I found wildly inappropriate (discussing students having crushes on teachers) and suggested that I do certain eye exercises while doing my daily Kegels since "many women choose to do long blinks while doing their Kegels." I was shocked that an optometrist, especially a male optometrist, would discuss pelvic floor exercises in a visit with a female client. To suggest doing long blinks during the day while doing Kegels when a simple "do a few long blinks when brushing your teeth" or "while having a moment of zen" or even "while having lunch" would do is gross and inappropriate. No one in any professional capacity has ever discussed Kegel exercises with me, nor asked about student-teacher crushes. My male colleague went to BVW a few months after my initial visit and, without knowing my experience, told me that the female Dr. Harris had made him uncomfortable as she, too, had commented about how students often have crushes on their teachers and asked if my colleague had any girls crushing on him. We teach middle school. My colleague immediately changed optometrists. The only reason this review is not one star is that Dr Harris did provide some relief for a chronic issue. I had a fantastic experience with Beaverton Vision World. I was a new patient and had such an easy time scheduling an appointment, being seen and ordering my contacts. Irene at the front desk was very helpful and her customer service skills are top-notch! Dr. Jeffrey Harris is just so friendly. You can tell that he loves his job and cares for his patients greatly. For 4 years now, I've had separate optometrists tell me that I have oval shaped optic nerves and that they are suspect for glaucoma. I've had anxiety and fear of going to these visits and not knowing the answer. Dr. Harris relieved all of my fears and gave me a very clear answer after taking detailed images of my eyes. The doctor was fabulous although never introduced herself and never asked if I had prior eye surgery (which I had) - ? The exam was quick, thorough and concise. I went for readers. I left home on vacation without my glasses. I had my contacts but I don't see well at night with contacts. After browsing a few reviews for one hour lenses, I called Beaverton Vision World and spoke with Laura about getting my prescription faxed up to them to get a pair of glasses made as I was passing through Beaverton. She said they can have them done in an hour but they did not have polycarbonate lenses in stock but they have plastic that would work. She also said that they had a 90-day re-cutting at no extra charge and they could order polycarbonate lenses and do those at no extra charge. I had my optometrist's office fax my prescription and dropped into Beaverton Vision World on my way up to destination in St. Helen's. Laura helped me pick out my frames and in an hour, I was out with a pair of glasses. A few days later, she called and said my polycarbonate lenses were on their way to my house. The customer service at Beaverton Vision World was as excellent! Although I could have survived without my glasses on our vacation, having replacement glasses saved a lot of stress. I was visiting family in Portland with my wife in July. We had both worked half days on the day we traveled, so we'd packed in a bit of a hurry in order to get out of work and catch a flight. In this haste, I'd forgotten my glasses at home. I was wearing my contacts, but I'm blind as hell and without a backup (or something to wear in the morning or late at night), there was no way I was going to make it 6 days wearing contacts every waking hour. I needed to get a new pair anyway, so I wasn't too upset. This was the catalyst I needed to get a new pair. As soon as I realized my mistake, I went on Yelp in search of an Optometrist that A) took my insurance, B) had a good reputation on Yelp and C) could get me glasses same day. I found Beaverton Vision World, and Dr. Harris on Yelp. They were friendly on the phone, took my vision coverage, and said that as long as I don't have a crazy prescription or lens need (I don't), that they could get me glasses in an hour or so. Yahtzee! Dr. Harris was awesome. Very friendly and personable. We talked about the traveling I was doing, him opening a new location, sports...We ran the gamut. The office is very technologically advanced, with a new way to check the health of your eyes that doesn't require dilation, and a glaucoma test that doesn't require the air puff test (which I hate). They can take internal pictures of your eyes and then show you blown up images on their computers and take you through the health of your eyes. It's pretty sweet. They have a good selection of frames with varying price points, and all the techs that work there are friendly and helpful. I picked out a pair and they were done in about an hour. It wasn't very expensive and the glasses looked great. If this isn't the definition of a 5 star experience, I don't know what is. I legitimately will plan to get my eyes checked during the trips I take to Portland...They're that good. Highly recommend. read more

After not getting new glasses for 5 years, and still wearing my old glasses from 8 years back, I knew it was time (while I had insurance) to get a new pair. Over the past month I've gone to Visionworks, Lenscrafters, EyeHealth in Orenco/Hillsboro, and got the shaft from Sunset Eye Clinic. I also tried Costco because of the rave reviews. I even tried going through Coastal.com. I'm from a small town (7K) where there's one eye doctor with a shiny selection of glasses, kind of pricey but high quality products.They don't cut corners on quality lenses and frames, and definitely not on service. I never imagined that going get an exam and glasses would be this much of a chore in a big city, but instead I get people offering me sales and discounts til they see my prescription (VisionWorks), or rushing me out the door because they close in 20 mins (Lenscrafters), or not even letting me LOOK at glasses until I can get an appt with their "glasses specialist" 2 weeks into the future (EyeHealth), don't take insurance and have CRAP for a selection (Costco), and can't get lenses with my level of astigmatism (Coastal). Sunset Eye Clinic had me on hold just to tell me that the cost of an appointment would use up 2/3 of my vision allowance, and I shouldn't even come by to look at glasses. They pushed a customer AWAY. But yesterday was the last day I had to get glasses and have them come in before I move. I figured going in to Beaverton Vision World wouldn't hurt, and I might be able to write some brands down and get new glasses next year. I'm so glad I went there! I walked in to the awesome space, saw the seating area, and the Keurig, and all the glasses and the chic lighting and was so pumped. Scared at the cost, but gosh. This is a place for glasses. It's like glasses heaven. I was welcomed quickly, they took my insurance info, and sent me off with a glasses guy. I told him what I wanted, and my hope to be able to afford it, and he told me straight out that the stuff on the back wall was pricey, but everything in front of me was very affordable. I didn't believe him but checked the first pair, $100. Another, $150. I didn't see anything for more than $200, where my current Kate Spade's cost $400 for just the frames. I remember glasses from Lenscrafters in Tanasbourne being over $100 more than the prices I was seeing at Vision World. Nevertheless, I had options. I had 12 pairs in front of me that I loved, that were all affordable, and all name brand. Oakley, Paul Frank, Ray Ban and Coach. I was in love with the Paul Franks, got them ordered with polycarbonate lenses, and told him that I would be moving soon so I need them to be in ASAP. He said that if they came in and I wasn't in town anymore, they'd ship them to my new address right away... Great service, great selection, best experience ever! read more

People are quick to give businesses feedback when they've done poorly or had a negative experience. I recently experienced quite the opposite with a business, so I'm going to share my positive experience. For the past few months, I've been shopping for a pair of prescription sunglasses. I had a very specific Oakley model in mind. I went to several different businesses and was given the runaround that "Oakley doesn't make sunglasses in my prescription....find a different brand." I seldom take no for an answer and continued to shop. Last weekend, I went to Beaverton Vision World and told the specialist the glasses I wanted from Oakley. He agreed that Oakley didn't make my prescription for the particular frame, BUT he researched and found out what frames they do make in my prescription strength (Good Customer Service Experience #1 ). He then sat with me for about an hour as I decided which frame, lens, color, coating, etc. that I wanted (Good Customer Service Experience #2). After I paid for the glasses, he informed me the lead-time would be 6-10 business days. After 4 business days, I receive an automated phone message AND text message stating my glasses were complete and ready for pick-up (Good Customer Service Experience #3). So the wife and I decide we need to get our eyes checked and get some new glasses. A few years ago I teased her about being blind and it's like she cursed me and I need glasses just as bad as her now. We go to a place that her family had used in the past. The doctor is ok but they want a small fortune above the cost covered on our insurance plan for frames and lenses and the person showing the frames kept saying oh no you don't want anything like that your face will look funny and you really need to upgrade the lens to the new HD lens. The guy must have been a used car salesman in the past and it pissed me off so I take our prescriptions and I decide to shop around. I find Vision World in Beaverton just down the street from doctor rip-off. Go in find the same frames for half the price and no high pressure about how you need to upgrade to the new high def lens. They were very nice and a few days later we have our glasses. After a few days the wife tells me that her glasses just don't seem to be right. She thought at first it was because of the new prescription but it's not better at all and it is making her sick. Off we go back to Vision World. They take a look and check the prescription from doctor rip-off and say it is right on. They offer to let her see the doctor at Vision World and rechecked her eyes. After the checkup she came out saying the prescription from doctor rip-off was wrong he had made it way to strong in one eye and that was causing the problem. Vision World was great... they did the exam and replaced the lens for the wife at no charge even with the prescription being wrong from another place. I really have great things to say about this place. I actually really loved the building how it felt like a cool urban loft and they offered me coffee right away which was a very nice gesture. I saw Dr. Harris and he did a really good job explaining to me why even with my vision corrected I still don't see 20:20. He also was the first to fix my astigmatism which has made my vision much better. The thing that I have to say I liked best was how transparent he was about pricing. He offered to dilate my eyes or not (but insurance would cover it) or he could take a photo of the back of my eye, but i would have to pay $40 out of my pocket. Their eyeglass selection has improved the last few years and now includes some designer frames such as Gucci and Tom Ford, huge improvement from awhile back. The doctors and staff are friendly and knowledgable. They don't try to push you to buy glasses or contacts through them at all, which makes for a nice experience. I'm a doctor and I've been coming to see Dr. Jeff for the past 5 years. I have to commend him for running an amazing practice. The checkin, the staff, the location, and cleanliness of the facility is wonderful. I'm always loving the great customer service of being on time, getting me in and out always. They have very efficient check in process and the assistant got me in an exam room always within 10 minutes of me getting there. My interaction with Dr.Jeff has always been wonderful. He's wonderful, knowledgeable, and a delight to have conversations with. Over the years, I feel he's gotten to know me and about me in a depth I've never had with any other practice or provider. He obviously cares deeply about people and his practice of optometry. I trust him completely. His staff has helped me so much in picking out my glasses, making sure I'm aware of my benefits and coverages, and the glasses always arrive promptly. He was very concerned about my experience and was willing to let me return my glasses if I wasn't satisfied with them. For this I'll up my rating to a three. Unbeknownst to me I was suggested the top dollar brand by the sales staff after giving them my very specific needs and I wasn't mindful of my budget. read more

After posting the review last month I was contacted by the staff of Beaverton Vision World and they wanted to correct the situation. Tammy was great, helpful, and very understanding of my complaints. After a short discussion we were able to come to a solution that would suit me well. They were able to switch out the lenses and provide me with a set of glasses that would work much better for me. Ideally this situation would have never happened but I can understanding staffing issues. If you decide to use Beaverton Vision World I would suggest not getting frustrated and speaking with Tammy to correct any issues to save everyone time. Honestly!!! I freaking was blown away by my experience here. I'm new to town and had to rely on yelp reviews to try and find a new eye doctor. I have terrible vision and have lived a lot of places and had a lot of eye doctors. Not only is this office absolutely darling, but so is the doctor and staff!! Everyone was incredibly kind, warm, welcoming, inviting... shall I go on? The doctor explained so many things in so much detail but in language I understood without making me feel like I was dumb. And the staff up front went above and beyond to help me find the perfect glasses. I literally pulled like 50 pair and they encouraged it and didn't rush me at all, even when it was near closing time. I'm so happy and I legit cannot WAIT fo my new glasses. I ended up getting two because I couldn't settle on one. Haha. read more

Letter being sent to the owner: Dear Dr. Harris, I had been a long time patient of Beaverton Vision world but due to staffing changes at your Beaverton location, I decided to take my business elsewhere due to the lack of compassion and the "you're part of our family feel" your office used to offer. My daughter and I were in need of some new frames so I thought I should give your office another try. Upon walking into your Beaverton location today, we were not welcomed. In fact all three "gate keepers" women staff sitting at the from desk blankly looked up at us and not one person say hi, how are you, or how can we help you. As my daughter an I approached the optical section of your office, we were then asked what we were there for. We stated we were shopping for new frames. Reluctantly someone got up and came over and pulled a few trays out for us and went back to sit down behind the front desk. We had some questions and when we did ask for help, we felt as though we were bothering your staff all the while they were discussing another person or patient in a negative way. I was appalled by their behavior and the way we were being treated that we walked out. True confirmation of why I decided to move my eye care a couple years ago. If it wasn't for your loyal patients or any patient for that matter seeking frames and/or eye care, your staff would not have jobs. That's something they should be thinking about. I work in healthcare myself and I would never treat my patients the way I was treated today in your office. read more

I had a great experience with Vision World. My exam with Dr. Harris was accurate, helpful and easy. Tammy and all the staff at Beaverton are excellent, helpful, knowledgeable and nice. I got my frames elsewhere as the selection was a bit slim for what I was looking for. That said, what they have is high quality. Finally, the biggest thing was that the lenses they made for me were the best I've had in 35 years of wearing glasses. They can do some sort of laser precision process that really increases one's peripheral vision, even with my small frames. read more

My experience here was amazing! Their service was fast yet thorough and I was in and out within an hour and a half. Dr. Harris was super friendly right off the bat and made me feel really comfortable about trying out contacts for the first time. Shay helped me pick out a pair of glasses that she felt like were my style and I actually went with one of her suggestions. And Vanessa helped me with the process of my trial contact lenses; how to take them out and put them back in. She also thoroughly explained all of my financial options which was most helpful of all. I didn't feel passed off from person to person, each had their own expertise to pass on to me and they took care of me. They also had an excellent inventory of glasses. I've stuck with Vision World for 5 pairs of glasses now and only 1 pair have they gotten correct the first time. They seem to try to work with you to get the glasses re-done, but you won't get the correct lenses/frames in a timely manner. There's always something wrong with their labs. I stuck with them because they were a mid point between home and work and they were the only people that had prescription gunnars, but the back and forth is just not worth it. My first pair of glasses I got were gunnars, first then sent me glasses in the wrong frames, then they got me the wrong prescription in the right frames. Then instead of compensating me for the wait time, which they originally told me they would, they said "Guess what, you can also keep the other frames and lenses for free!" Why would I want the ugly frames I didn't want in the first place? How is that some compensation? My second pair I didn't get until a month past their 10-15 business day. I frequently had to call them to get updates on the status because they were so late. My third pair were also gunnars which the prescription was still wrong. I also had to frequently call to get updates. My fourth pair was correct, finally! My fifth pair were prescription sunglasses, the prescription was so completely off that I couldn't see clearly for 1-2 hours after wearing them for 30 minutes. (I got epilasik but still had alittle prescription left) So I asked for them to get my lenses without the prescription and with the same mirror/color/coating. That way I could get some sunglasses back without the hassle. They said "Sure no problem". I get the lenses in and they're the wrong color. They tell me they can't get my lenses without a prescription. Why didn't you tell me that sooner instead of have me go back and forth and waste both of our time on lenses I didn't like? I asked for a refund because they failed to make the prescription, they said they couldn't because the lenses have been made. THEY WERE MADE INCORRECTLY! So the fix would be get another exam, try again for new lenses. I got tired of this constant run around and gave up, told them to take me off their list and not contact me again. I had specific requests for my glasses that I felt like I was playing good money for, I could have just gone anywhere else to get glasses, but I stuck with them believing "we're working with a new lab" excuse, maybe I was unlucky but it was out of hand.If you like the run around, go here. Otherwise look elsewhere. They get a 1 star for the 1 of 5 times they got my Glasses correct without any hassle. read more

I had to contact the BBB in order to get the Manager to respond. The Manager then billed the service correctly, 7 months later, and immediately received payment. This is exactly what I had tried to explain numerous times to Laura -- that it was billed incorrectly and never received by my insurance company. Hopefully they have their billing team billing correctly now and others do not encounter the same issues. read more

I'm about to finish graduate school and my glasses were looking really well-loved. I decided it was time to replace them so I could go search for jobs feeling confident and professional looking. I found Vision World via Yelp. Eye examination: 5 stars Dr. Harris was personable yet professional and I was really pleased with my eye exam. It was thorough and I felt like he did a great job of providing education throughout the appointment. Eye glasses: 2-3 stars Positives first. I love that I had one person who worked with me to pick out frames. Sure, the frames she picked out were definitely at the higher end of the budget, but I understand it's a retail shop. She gave me lots of choices about frames and didn't rush me, which was appreciated. Less positive: But, of all the decisions she gave me, she never discussed lens with me. I have one eye that has a minimal prescription, and the other eye needs lots of help (a much higher prescription). Historically, places have just told me (if not just automatically ordered it that way), you gotta do the thinner lens your one eye will look bigger than the other one if you don't. So I will take the responsibility that I didn't ask what their lens options were, other than telling her I wanted a thinner lens. But apparently the polycarbonate lens was selected for me. Even less positive: I got a text message letting my know my glasses were ready for me (a speedy 4 days later!) I went to pick them up and the first thing I noticed is that one eye was noticeably bigger than the other. I casually mention this to the guy who's fitting me and he doesn't really comment back. I say something to my husband, and he agrees, especially at an angle you can see it. So when the associate comes back I just ask him what lens I got, and inquire about the appropriate lens type for my prescription. He tells me, you got polycarbonate. I mention about my eyes looking mismatched, and he just sort of sits there with a minimal nod to acknowledge what I said. I ask him if he can price what the difference would be to upgrade the lens, if there is a thinner lens available. He reports back it's be another $100ish bucks. Well, shoot, I would've picked cheaper frames and got better lens. TL;DR: Wanted glasses to feel awesome about my job search as a new graduate, left stoked about the eye exam, but bummed out about the frames/lens experience leaving me feeling even less confident than before. read more
