It's great that this place is so close to the workplace so I can just pop over in less than five minutes. There's plenty of available appointment times and the staff are all very friendly. The staff here treated me with warmth, like family. I was nervous about the process and having to select my first pair of glasses. The level of patience demonstrated was outstanding as I had insecurities. Taylor, Monse and Lynn took the time I needed. When I had finished with my exam I opted to follow the doctor recommended IPL treatment for my dry eye condition. It's been about 2+ years since I've noticed my eyes feeling noticeably drier so I came for dry eye treatment via my friend's recommendation. On my first visit, while I did have to wait ~30+ mins because they were running behind, when I was seen Dr. Schmitt, I was appreciative that he was very attentive and informative, and didn't rush through our time. The space is also very clean and modern. The staff is friendly and helpful, and they examined my eye for meibomian gland health, tested my eye pressure, checked for how quickly my tears evaporated, and looked for dry spots on eye with a yellow eye drop. Because I had "give" bumps from allergies on the inside of my eyelids, I was prescribed a steroid eye drop for a few weeks, then the plan is to heal the dry spots on my eye with a round of Neoxflow instead of prokera. Then a series of 4 IPLs or similar to improve tear quality and volume/ production, and to help unblock and glands. I love that I can go to one location (they also have a Portland office) to get the full treatment. I've got everything scheduled and am looking forward to seeing how my eyes respond! read more

I have been going to this location since 2019. Dr Schmitt and his staff is outstanding - everyone is friendly, professional, and genuinely helpful. The office uses high-end, modern equipment, which makes the exam feel thorough and up to date. The staff takes the time to explain everything including insurance benefits clearly and makes the whole visit smooth and comfortable. They really care about their patients. Disappointing and unprofessional. I have had good experiences at Blink and my standby Kaiser Beaverton, but decided to try Spectacle in Beaverton for a new set of frames and lenses. When the glasses were ready I tried them on and the lenses seemed wonky, not as clear as my current prescription, but I said I'd try them out for a day or two and see if I just needed to get used to the new prescription. By the time I got to my car I discovered that they had given me transition lenses (the ones that turn dark in sun). I not only didn't order transitions, I had a conversation with the person who took my order about how I don't use transition lenses because here in Portland I want as much sun in my eyes as possible, and she agreed! So I figured if they screwed up the transition part of the order, then the lenses were probably wonky too, and I asked for a full refund. No apology, no oops, no attempt to find out how they had messed up the specifications. It was as if this was all normal. It would have been nice for them to just acknowledge that there was an error, at my expense. They charged me a $40 "restocking fee." This was so weird, I kind of wonder if there was some animus on their part because I had mentioned I was leaving on a trip to Israel, but maybe that's just paranoia. In any case, I would not recommend Spectacle in Beaverton. Everyone makes mistakes, but they don't have the courtesy of an "Oh, we're sorry, let's get this fixed." read more

I am not one to gush about a business even when they far exceed my expectations. However, I have to say that if Yelp had a six star option, that's what I'd apply to my experience at Spectacle. The staff was great. The pre-exam exam was painless and much more complete than I was expecting. My time with Dr Schmitt far exceeded my expectations. Everyone there was very free with their time, knowledge and expertise. Spent over an hour with the Doctor and being tested. All for $30 plus what my insurance covered. They didn't carry the type of sport glasses I was looking for but the Doctor got me set up with an online outfit which, I'm assuming, they get no commission from any sales made. Pretty classy! I suppose you could spend a lot of dough there if you wanted to but while they do offer a lot of products and services no one there tried to up-sell me on anything. So that was much appreciated. I got everything i wanted, needed and expected (and more) at a very reasonable out the door with a smile price. I don't know that I will be seeing them again except for another eye exam in a few years but they definitely made a customer for life out of me with their professionalism and superior customer care. Very down to earth people and I felt very cared for from the moment I stepped in to when I left :) Instead of other places where I feel the atmosphere revolves more around a more salesman mentality I genuinely felt they cared more that I had a good experience. They also have a lot of high tech machines atypical of other places that can tell you a lot more about your eyes than eye exams elsewhere. (I got to see a bunch of photos of different areas of my eye which was really neat!) Super comprehensive. It was through this eye exam that I learned about my dry eye problem (along with other things I won't bore you with) and how to treat it holistically. Topics like allergies came up as well and it just felt like a very integrative appointment. They really know their stuff & not just about the eye but how our eyes can be affected and affect other parts as well. I went home with a paper informing me of natural pills I can take, some eye exercises, a sleep mask that will now be a part of my daily routine. read more

Eye exam: great! Helped me figure out why I kept putting my glasses on my head and possibly why I've tripped a few times (my progressives started in the wrong place so they were blurring my vision of where I was stepping). Enjoyed the picture of my eye moisturization channels (whatever they're called) that they got from taking a picture pulling your lids up and down with a q tip. As I'm getting older, keeping my eyes up is important and something I actually have to put some effort into, so the knowledge and suggestions helped me. Glasses selection: Not for me. It's tough for anyone to win with this because we are now used to a ton of choices with a ton of customization. I just had my frames reused with updated lenses. Service: Kirsten was super helpful in getting my glasses done and measuring for my progressive placement. Also helped with fixing my glasses so they dont fall off when I bend over. Overall I appreciated my service and would absolutely go back. Love how convenient the location is! read more

I got my glasses at Spectacle after a friends recommendation. I had a previous unpleasant experience at a super hipster competitor for my previous glasses and the selection at my optometrist office was not that great. Kirsten was the one that helped me. She was great. I always feel pressure at.eye glass places because I take my time and try on so many frames. She did not make me feel rushed or annoyed at me trying on so many options. She was even patient as I sent pics of me to my wife and waited for her response. After I finally found a frame I liked they did not have the color I wanted. She went on line at the store and helped me find it and order it. Kirsten was also super clear on how much everything would cost and went through the bill with me in a precise manner. I have a strong stigmatism and need trifocals, so my glasses can be pricey. Kirsten also kept me up to date on when my order was arriving. All in all a very pleasant experience getting my glasses there. Highly recommend and ask for Kirsten. read more

They couldn't take one minute out of their day to adjust my glasses. I'd have to make an appointment for it. For something that only takes one minute. Every other vision clinic I have been to but one adjusts glasses without needing an appointment. Having other employees at lunch break is irrelevant. Hire more people or make sure your receptionist is trained in such an easy task as adjusting glasses. Give me the tools, and I could do it myself. read more

This was my first and last time at Spectacle. I had an appointment and I should have known by how long I had to wait it was going to be bad. I had quite a bit of time to look at frames due to my wait. As far as glasses selection was limited and with no real brands that stood out or are well known. When finally called back, the assistant almost poked me in the eye twice with a long q-tip to try and open my bottom lid. I've never had someone use a stick to open my eye up. She kept looking away and didn't pay attention to her hand movement and I had to dodge from getting poked. Then she wanted to measure the pressure with this "new" device that touches your eye, that is supposedly better than the air puff. We're in a pandemic, I'm not letting this device touch my eye. I don't know how often it's cleaned, how it can be cleaned because it's so small, and if it's even sanitary because a new one isn't used for each patient. No thanks! The optometrist seemed decent, no complains there. Won't see her again because she works there. But, was knowledgeable and explained thoroughly. Now here is why I'm not coming back. I already knew what glasses I wanted. I was escorted to the person who helps with the frames. I sat down with her and asked her if she had certain ones in another color and she said "let me find out" and then disappeared for like 15-20 minutes. Some guy came in and she thought his needs to tighten his glasses were more important than the customer she had sitting in front of her with the appointment! I get it, they can sometimes help people quickly but this wasn't a quick thing, she just completely ignored me and went off to work with this guy. I had to get back to work. I had an appointment for a reason. I got up, asked the receptionists if they can help close me out because I have to go. I'm pissed. My intentions were to go there, get my exam, purchase two pairs of glasses, and sunglasses. I refuse to give them my business or my money. They wasted my time and prioritized a walk in who could have been helped by the other two women at the front who were doing absolutely nothing. No thanks. Now they've inconvenienced me to have to find another place to go fulfill my prescription. Don't waste your time here. Place looks nice, but has crappy customer service and a pretty bad selection of glasses. read more

Spectacle gives an amazing experience! All of the staff was extremely friendly. Everyone seems to really care about your experience, from the exam itself to trying on every frame! Their selection of glasses is good. They have frames in a lot of different price ranges to fit your needs. I also am so grateful that they push more natural products. For example, I needed to use some eye wash for inflammation, and the products they recommended for this are all vegan and cruelty free! Dr. Sagina is by far the best eye doctor I've ever been too! She was so patient and thorough. As she explained different things, she made sure to check if I had questions along the way. She also provided great tips and was overall super friendly! read more

Total incompetence. We have all had bad experiences with stores, but this was the worst. Over 3 months and 4 visits and my sons lens orders were still wrong. Needed them for school. The "replacements" hurt his eyes. So, no glasses for over 3 months during the school year. How this place stays in business is beyond me. They must have a sweetheart deal with an insurance company. I had the best eye exam which is hard to do as I don't like people touching my eyes. Dr O Halloran treated me with great care and walked me through each step of the exam. I feel anxious about someone touching my eyes but she put me at ease from the very beginning of my exam. My eyes have also been extremely dry and she gave me great tips on keeping my eyes healthy. I've never been to an optical shop that told me that they didn't have an optician to help me, they didn't have anyone else who could even do something as simple as fix nose pads on glasses, and wouldn't even bother to look to see if they could sell me the pads or a kit so that I could do it myself. If you own this shop, you should be aware that the other optical shop in the same mall was courteous, helpful and didn't even charge me for the repair. Anyone reading this review, be advised that there is another business that wants to serve you and does an amazing job, but these folks are useless. read more

I've had two eye appointments for both contact and glass prescriptions to be updated, as well as a phone call to order contacts (with Alicia). Each interaction has been so great. Starting with eye health appointments; I saw two different optometrists, but both their care was similar in that they were patient, thorough, and very accommodating. Through each appointment, they took the time to talk to me about my eye health and vision (I saw them through my pregnancy and post partum, so my vision changed drastically through this time). Additionally, after giving me trial lenses, they kept reiterating that if I didn't like them or wanted to give different lenses a try, to just call them back and they would be happy to see me again/help; reassuring me it would be no problem. Then just this morning, I called Spectacle to finally place an order for contact lenses; Alicia was so helpful and patient with all the changes I needed from my health plan and my partner's. She was knowledgeable about my plan and had an answer for everything, all while helping me fully utilize my vision benefits. From my first appt to now, I feel like their patient service and support has been amazing and consistent. I will say though, I think their regular vision check-up cost (out of pocket or billed to insurance) are more than other offices I have visited, but for their care all around, it's worth it. read more
