I know I might be alone in this, but out of all doctors, eye doctors are the ones I fear the most. I hate anything near my eyes, and I've even been told before that I'm a "difficult" patient. For years, I had a wonderful eye doctor in San Francisco and would literally fly there just to see her. When she retired, I wasn't sure I'd ever find someone I could truly trust--someone patient enough to work with my eye phobia the way she did. When I called Sunset Eye Clinic, I explained my situation, and they suggested Dr. Lee might be a good match. (Funny enough, that's my husband's last name, so I figured that was already a good sign!) They were absolutely right. Dr. Lee was kind, patient, and took the time to explain everything clearly without making me feel rushed or judged. He made what is usually a very stressful experience for me feel manageable and calm. I'm so grateful to have found an eye doctor I feel comfortable with again. I found this eye clinic by a fluke. I was so impressed from start to finish I want people to know how amazing the staff is here. I was able to get an appointment quickly and the intake paperwork was not daunting like some places I have encountered. They explained everything in detail and answered the questions I had. Picking out my frames seemed overwhelming but I was lucky enough to have Kevin help me. He listened to what i was looking for and didn't try to sell me on something I didn't need or want. For me personally, the delivery of message and the level of care during a visit were going to be significant factors in determining how comfortable I would be transitioning into a new phase of life and those realities. Dr. Janecek was referred to me through my wife (who received a referral from a friend.) After seeing Sunset being well-regarded, I rolled the dice and called. Not only were they able to see me quickly, they were able to find a time that accommodated my schedule. At arrival, I was greeted warmly and quickly. As I was early, I waited for my appointment, which began promptly. The technician was exceptionally efficient and kind as well, and ushered me to the various rooms. Dr. Janecek won the day for me. I've used kind a couple of times, and would apply again. I'd say, however, his professionalism was outshined by his genuine approach and my perception of his caring about my care. He explained everything to me thoroughly - and not in a way that would be seen as condescending or dismissive; he took time to make sure I had my questions answered and I understood the state of my health. We discussed options, lifestyle choices that can have a longer (and healthier) impact on my vision, and plans for moving forward. He walked me to the gal who would ultimately work with me on my order. The whole experience was exceptional. A referral - backed by good feedback here - has given me a medical care provider for as long as I have eyes. Dr. Janecek is, legitimately, the real deal. I got a pair of prescription sunglasses from this place. After paying more than $170 (after insurance coverage of about $200), the quality of glasses are very poor, I chose the recommended best options for glasses, they are polarized. the polarization was so off, different parts of the glasses have different amount of polarization which made it hard to wear, its strained my eyes so bad, its hard to drive car with them on. The glasses were not made to correct size, to fit the frame. As a result they got stressed unevenly and have aberrations all over the glasses. different objects shine differently on each eye, which made it hard to wear. It gave me headache after wearing for 15mins. I complained about it, they kept the glasses for a month and did nothing. All they did was to bend the frame to fit the glasses which made it uncomfortable to wear and did little to improve the quality, I did not expect this from a $370 eye glasses. totally worthless. wasted my money. I would not recommend this place anyone else. Attached is the picture with proper polarization (on the right, my daughter's glasses) and not properly done glasses (on the left, mine). Dr. Kenny Lee's long sincere email has made me change the review and the rating. Here is part of the email "So normally this is not an issue for our patients even if they do not purchase their contacts from us. Obviously our staff failed to get you taken care of like we would expect them to, thus I do honestly apologize." 2 stars because of nice receptionist and the person who ordered my glasses. I'm not sure how they test eye sight, but they first prescribed too strong of a lense power. I went back to get retested and they lowered it slightly. Things looked ok in office, but not outside or at work. Went back and had to get refitted again; ordered glasses. Same thing happened. My insurance renewed in January so I went to my old eye doctor. My old prescription was correct all along. read more

I went in to get new glasses so that I could read better. I waited two weeks and got tri-focals. They didn't work so I took them back and requested bi-focals. This time it took three weeks to get them. The new glasses aren't much better than than the first pair. Rather than wait another three weeks or more [ if they will try again ] I will "make do" until I can visit another place that will do a better job of helping me see to read. Rating read more
