Despite the fact that Dr. Meyer is the owner, complaining to staff feels futile as they simply go through the motions without addressing his behavior. Across three visits, Dr. Meyer was consistently unprofessional and intimidating. He refused to let me ask questions, demanding only 'yes' or 'no' answers, and became visibly irritated when I tried to explain my symptoms. During a punctal plug procedure, he applied drops directly into my eyes without warning. At my follow-up, he removed a plug without consulting me and grew annoyed when I asked for clearer explanations due to my language barrier. I felt pressured by his aggressive push for me to 'upgrade' to eye surgery, which came across as a focus on financial gain rather than my actual medical needs. He ended the appointment with a dismissive religious gesture that felt highly inappropriate in a medical setting. I felt unsafe, disrespected, and poorly cared for. I had an appointment for an eye exam specifically for cataracts. The woman at the front desk did not greet me with a "hello" or any sort of normal courtesy. I met with Dr. Meyer and basically had the same experience. No greeting. I found his demeanor to be dismissive when I asked questions. Perhaps they are too busy to extend courtesy to potential patients. The bright spot in my visit was Ryan, the person who performed the basic tests on my eyes before I saw the doctor. He was efficient, kind and knowledgeable. I will find another facility to handle my eye care. read more

I brought my friend in for her second visit to Dr. Meyer. She has dementia and I am her POA. During her first visit with a caregiver, she signed two documents to okay procedures. One was supposed to "cure" her cataracts. The other was supposed to "cure" her glaucoma. Both would be done by laser. Because she is legally not supposed to sign these documents, I accompanied her the second time. I reminded them about the illegality of this. The first was for the cataract "boost". A nurse dilated her eye and took. vital signs. After that we waited in a cubicle for more than an hour. My friend had a chair and was very concerned that I did not get one. She became anxious and it was difficult for her to be in that situation During this long hour, I heard several clients coming in and out and being told that they could wait in the waiting room while their eyes were dilating. We were never offered that option. At one point the nurse came in for me to sign "electronically" for this procedure. Finally, a young man came in and took my friend to the procedure. I was not able to accompany her. I asked the nurse why we couldn't have sat in the waiting room with other patients. She blamed me because I insisted this be done legally. I never met Dr. Meyer. I had written a snail mail to him prior to the visit because of the wording "cure her glaucoma". He never responded. We will never return to this place. When the doctor ignores you and the nurse is brusque, why would you go back? read more

I didn't realize what had happened to me at Clearview Eye until recently. I had an exam by what I understand is an excellent optomotrist, and a prescription was produced. I think the woman in the contact lens section of the clinic had no experience with gas permeable lens, or perhaps even no one in Clearview was experienced in that style. I had to wait TWO MONTHS for the first lens to show up; right and left contact did not arrive together. Once I put one or both on, and I couldn't imagine what they had done with my prescription. I realize now that there was little or no knowledge of gas permeable contacts in the Cleaview group. I have worn contacts for over 60 years, and gas permeables (to work with my astigmatism) for 40 years, so this mistake wasn't about me, it was THEM! read more

The worst customer service!! Dr. Li was great once I got to see her. I waited for 30 minutes to be called for my appointment, appointment time 9:00 am, time called back for the appointment 9:21am. I was asked to come in 10 minutes early for paperwork. When the assistant called my name, she did not greet me, nor did she tell me her name. I walked back as she gave me a clear attitude like I did something wrong. I put my purse down and sat in the chair, the assistant turned around and said, the red chair. How I'm I to know where to sit when I was not given any directions? Then she asks me, 'how's your vision?' I said 'I'm having my eyes check to find out.' She rolled her eyes at me and said again, you can sit in the red chair. I obviously was not moving fast enough for her. Then she started asking me something but I could not hear her because she had her back to me. I said, 'sorry?' She turned around and rolled her eyes again. At this point I asked if I did something to offend her, because I feel like she is giving me some attitude. She responded, 'you had the attitude when I called your name. ' She then gave me the eye paddle and started to ask for me to read the letters. I told her, 'you're not being very nice' and without even acknowledging I had said something, she again asked me to read the letters. I looked at her and said, 'I will not be treated this rudely, you will not work on me, I want to see the doctor.' I gave my experience at this clinic a 1 star because the assistants clearly do not care about how they treat their patients. I am in healthcare and if I treated someone this poorly, I would have been spoken to. Once I saw Dr. Li, she was very nice and thorough. In closing, do not expect to be treated like a live person with feeling, the assistants clearly do not care about that. Although Dr. Li was great, this assistant is clearly aggressive and hostile. One of the front desk staff has been there as long as I've been going there is she is amazing. Dr. Mulligan was good the times I've seen him. Dr. Meyer is a sh*t show. He was so condescending to my daughter during an eye exam. He told her she only wanted glasses because her brother had them. Such a weird thing to say and she has a very strong correction. And I am shocked my son isn't blind after his 3 failed attempts at Lasix before Meyers as able to complete it the 4th time successfully . So choose your doctor wisely. read more

I was referred here for cataract surgery after a detached retina, by my doctor at Washington Retina. I understand they are a bit understaffed but I've consistently gotten in earlier than my official appointment time. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was that my first two appointments were made then had to be changed. Dr. Mulligan did my surgeries and they've gone well aside from a slight issue because of a much earlier injury to one eye (that pupil has been permanently a bit dilated since my teens). The surgery was easy; all I really remember from it was being told that I might feel some pressure when the lens was placed. (I did.) Dr. Mulligan told me I might likely remember more from the second surgery but it was honestly even easier. The negative comments about Dr. Mulligan are a bit surprising to me because he has always been good about answering my questions and has been personable and pleasant. This review is strictly for the optical lobby, and not for the eye drs. I used to see the dr's here years ago but never received good service. I didn't feel like the dr care about your well-being. For the longest time, I kept coming back because of the optical staff. If I really had to rate, it's 5-stars for the optical lobby and 1-stars for the eye drs upstairs. There's a gentlemen there at the optical area that's been there for a long time. I didn't get his name but he has the most extraordinary customer service that I have ever experienced. Years ago, my toddler (at the time) broke my glasses that I just got. I was petrified, had no other choice but to bring the glasses back frantically, to see if they could revive it. This gentleman told me not to worry and they will take care of it. I got it back and they didn't charge me because it was under warranty. He was so kind and nice throughout the process. And for this reasons, I decided to go elsewhere for my eye care needs, and will ask for a prescription so that I can get my glasses (frames and all that here). Yes, it's quite the distance for me since I've moved away from WS. But for great customer service, you don't need to ask me twice. The problem with most optometrist office is that you may find a dr that you like, know that you are not obligated to buy the frames or glasses there, just because you get your services there. Is it awkward for getting service at one place and leave to get glasses elsewhere? Sure, but don't fret. It's not personal. Like who wants to be stuck with the same pairs of glasses for 2 years that you're not fully happy with because of the limited selections that certain optical places have? Not me. So while my eye needs are met elsewhere, my family and I come to this optical office for our glasses selection. I tell all my family and friends. The first time I went here, I patiently waited 45 minutes in the lobby until I was taken into the exam room. I was never updated as the time went on and for someone who works on a back to back client schedule-I DO understand sometimes this happens but that was a large amount of time. When I was taken back I was not introduced to an official doctor but the beginning of an exam ensued. I was confused. I was reassured over and over a doctor was coming but they'd do a few tests before. I've been wearing contact for decades-this is not standard practice. When the ophthalmologist finally arrived, he was curt, rushed, and rude. He was in an out of the exam room and then ANOTHER doctor came in. Everything was very rushed, impersonal, and I had difficulty getting my questions answered because of it. Fast forward to trying to make an appointment today. I tried it to make it easy on the "understaffing" and do a few things online through their portal. I couldn't find my prescription, I couldn't make an appointment, and when I finally waited on hold and did gymnastics through the phone tree, my call was finally answered by another, annoyed employee. "The portal is a joke" she said. Then she shamed me that I didn't receive the postcard about booking my next appointment..."You probably overlooked it," said with full on sass. Needless to say, after making my appointment, I quickly regretted it. So I made an appointment somewhere else and cancelled with Clearview. I had an exam 4 days later, the lady helping with the contacts handled my insurance beautifully and I ended up not paying because of her extra steps. My new ophthalmologist was on time, he took his time to do my exam, answer questions, and show comparison photos of healthy eyes. Night and day experience. In and out in 45 min. read more

I have been going here since we moved to West Seattle almost ten years ago. Dr. Casimir is great with adults and children and was one of the main reasons we continued to go there. Things have sadly changed over the past year. It is really difficult to get eye appointments thanks to Covid. I took my son there back in April and we sadly didn't get an appointment with Dr. Casimir as she was out of the office. No problem, right? Wrong. The staff overall is no longer as friendly and welcoming as they once were. Good luck engaging in conversation. I know what it's like being customer facing, I'm also in a customer facing role. However, it definitely felt like us being there was an annoyance. The doctor who we saw had zero bedside manner. No friendly chatting. Just a very unwelcoming feeling The exact opposite of Dr. Casimir. We were handed our prescription after a very brief exam and not even so much as a "Have a good day!" This was back in April. I thought maybe it was an off day, and so when I needed to schedule an eye appointment I thought I would give them another chance and hope to get the doctor we normally saw. I can't review how my appointment went. Why? Because I'm still waiting for a call back. I left a message (because they are closed at lunchtime. Super convenient) It has been a week. Message received loud and clear. You don't want my business. Got it. I called and got a same day appointment at the place in Costco. Where everyone was friendly and you know, like talked to me. I don't know what happened, but apparently I am not alone as I see some of the newer reviews also have the same experience. Working in customer service is hard. Being customer facing during COVID is even more difficult. I completely understand because as I mentioned, I am also in a customer facing role. Believe the reviews. After months of post-PRK dry eye, occasional floaters, and haze, I made an appointment with Dr. Meyer and he didn't even introduce himself or take a history. He asked no questions, did a retinal exam, said "you're good," and signed out of his computer without a backward glance. I tried to interject and explain my actual reason for visit (post-PRK concerns not concern for retinal detachment) and he very condescendingly told me "there is nothing I can do about the haze" and to make another appointment. Had a great first visit! My husband also came here a couple months ago and had a great experience, too. The front desk was very helpful when I called to make both my husband's as well as my appointments. My husband had a quick check in when arriving for his appointment. I had a slight wait, but the front desk was aware that one patient was taking a lot of time and kept taking breaks to check in new arrivals. Paperwork isn't long - took about 2 min to fill out. The medical assistant who brought me to my exam room was super sweet and helpful. I got an updated glasses prescription (same with my husband) and we both had great experiences with the optometrist (I had a female and he had a male - I don't remember the names). We both didn't do the full exam, so can't speak to that, but they do offer an option without dilation for $35. I also got an updated contacts prescription. You see a separate person dedicated to contacts for that (she was also sweet). It's helpful to note that in WA, insurance companies require new patients to get "fitted" for contacts even if you've been wearing the same kind for years and love them. That was confusing to me since I'm new to WA, but only costs like $20 (you might get quoted a higher cost when booking your appointment with the front desk - you get a reduced rate if you bring in existing boxes of contacts and your previous contacts prescription). The contacts person can order contacts for you - she provides her email and phone #. My husband bought new glasses. The rep was super helpful (and even made a quick adjustment to my existing glasses while I was there, which I had purchased elsewhere). It is not a quick turnaround - it was about 1.5 weeks. But they are detailed, so I think it's worth it. All in all, found my new local go-to for all eye needs!! read more

Dr. Aaron Weingeist is the ophthalmologist for our entire family, ages 17-87! He is a lovely man and a good physician and surgeon. He is patient and reassuring. I recommend him without reservation. The optometry on the ground floor has a decent selection of frames. They're a little pricy, but they offer good warranties on the frames and lenses. I've had scratched lenses replaced twice in two years at no cost. read more

As they say, fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice... The first time I saw Dr. Mulligan at Clearview I was there to establish care and routine eye exam, however he pushed plastic surgery on me for the results of a condition I had dealt with over 15 years ago. He told me a story about a woman with my condition who was ugly and unhappy (presumably like me) but who, after having the surgery was now married and living happily ever after (and presumably I could too!). Not once did he ask me how I feel about my eyes, or if they are having any impact on my day to day life, not once did he mention anything about how this surgery would help my actual health. Just my looks. Extremely uncomfortable, I left the appointment and then proceeded to get bombarded by calls from the plastic surgery place he recommended. I ignored them and cropped it up to good intentions. The second time I saw Dr. Mulligan was again for a routine exam, this time with a Lasik consultation, and again was exactly the same. Except this time I told him the reason I didn't see the plastic surgeon (because of course he asked) was because I looked at the options, evaluated how I was feeling, and determined that I don't look that bad and I feel fine. His response was, essentially, "You do look bad. And your right eye looks worse than your left, don't know if you noticed." Yes I am a woman in this world, I am very aware of every flaw. Again, no medical reason why I should pursue this surgery, and again, pushed the same plastic surgeon on me. He said, even though I passed the evaluations for Lasik, he wouldn't consider it until I had gotten the OK from this plastic surgeon. When I tried to engage him on the research I had done on Lasik to better understand his concerns and clarify my own understanding, he shut me down and said I'd need to have the surgery first. Didn't ask me why I wanted Lasik, didn't try to see if there were alternatives that could help me meet my goals (which is that I run 50+ miles a week and I'm tired of the hassle of glasses and contacts). Frankly could not have cared less about me as a person. I won't be giving him a third time. It's clear to me Dr. Mulligan wasn't interested in my actual health, and he wasn't listening to what I had to say about how I felt about my looks. I'm establishing care and getting a second opinion somewhere that actually cares about my health and wellbeing. They might still say I'm not a good candidate for Lasik, but at least they won't make me feel like an ogre in the process. read more

They sent the wrong prescription to both me and my husband when we requested it for contacts. I had cataract surgery done by Doctor Mulligan. I had never had any vision problems and was nervous and uncertain. Before the surgery the anesthesiologist said she would give me something light just so I could relax during the surgery. Next thing I remember was being offered coffee in the recovery room and then being sent home. No other conversation. On my follow-up visit with the surgeon I mentioned that I was surprised I did not see him before or after the surgery. He said to me, and I quote, "I do not have time to chat with patients, that is the nurses job." I have met several doctors and surgeons I my life but never one with so much arrogance. When I got up to leave there were no goodbyes, just him on the computer. I will be looking elsewhere for surgery on the other eye. read more

Had to wait 6 weeks to get an eye exam and then when arrived, receptionist was rude and a bit snippy. I also wasn't told I needed a specific eye exam appointment for contact lenses, so after waiting 6 weeks for an exam, I discovered I'd have to make another appointment for a contact lens exam. Completely avoidable issue IF I had been told this when I called to make my initial exam. Dr was nice enough at first and then had an attitude and tone to her voice. Not sure what the attitude problem is in that office. After my exam, I decided to at least look at their eyeglass frames and gentlemen was pleasant at greeting me, but gave ZERO assistance in trying to find a frame that would fit my small face. I tried on over 30 frames on my own and still even though I was clearly struggling to find the right frame, none of the 3 customer service reps offered to help me. NONE!!! How refreshing to talk to a human who picks up the phone on the first ring and answers my questions quickly and politely! I have been a patient at the West Seattle- Highline Eye Clinic for a number of years. My contact lenses began irritating my eyes, and I was consulted on the merits of iLasik. I had the surgery at the clinic almost a year ago, and can honestly say that I couldn't be happier. I can now ski, run, bike, and swim without worry. My vision is better now at 45, than when I was 18 years old. Dr. Meyer took the time to thoroughly explain the iLasik procedure and alleviate all of my concerns. The surgery itself took what felt like only a few minutes to complete. I was groggy and uncomfortable for about 5 hours post surgery, but since then I have had no need for glasses. I have been very happy with my 20/20 vision. I would recommend the West Seattle Clinic staff for this surgery. The experience and results were outstanding. The medical staff at the West Seattle Highline Eye Clinic have been very responsive to the needs of my family. I have entrusted them with the eyesight of my 6 year old daughter as well as my 78 year old mother. We have always been treated with professionalism and respect by all of the staff. I would absolutely recommend them for any needs you may have, from regular eye exams to surgery. read more

I do like and respect Dr. Casimir, the optometrist, but the clinic appears chronically understaffed, at least recently. (I have never visited their eye surgeons.) The call-back rate is either slow or, in my recent case, entirely non-existent even though I've left two voicemail messages for a critical matter (I rely on computer glasses for my job, and they are broken). If you try to call back, you usually get a voicemail, or the staff is on lunch. Nice staff, though, if you do actually get an appointment. I've been a patient for a few years (I like that they have parking onsite and the waiting room is nice), but due to the laggard response and inability to get through, I will be looking for another eye doctor in West Seattle. I am going to try Z Optic Eyecare next and will post my experience. read more

Awful experience! Had to wait for 40 minutes after checking in before appointment time. I am surprised that Thomas Mulligan is an eye doctor -- not only is he arrogant and pompous, but he is also uninterested in examining patients. The only question he asked me was whether I was willing to pay extra for some procedure. The eye exam was done by an equally morose assistant and the eye prescription was stamped by Mulligan. I had my eye checked by a different optometrist the same week and Clearview's numbers were off by 0.75 and 0.5. Overall, it was the worst annual eye exam I have had in the last 20+ years. I would like to start by saying, KESHIA CASIMIR, O.D. is fantastic, and this review is mostly for the optical shop. I went in today to pick up some replacement glasses. The lack of urgency to help customers is disappointing to say the least. After checking in and the receptionist calling my name back for glasses pickup, I was left standing in the waiting room for like 10 minutes without being acknowledged. The receptionist finally called into the back again to ask if anyone was available to help me. A guy sitting in clear view of me apologized for not helping sooner. He offered me a seat and then continued working on whatever he was doing. The receptionist actually pulled my glasses from the back while I continued to wait. THEN... the worst part; the guy puts his pen down, adjusts his mask with his bare hands (from the front, not the side piece), pulls his mask down takes a drink of coffee, then went and handled my glasses without sanitizing his hands!!!!!! WTF?!?! When I pointed this out and asked for my glasses to be sanitized before putting them on my face, he looked at me like I was crazy for asking such a thing. Absolutely disgusting. I expect a very different level of cleanliness and COVID precautions from a medical facility. read more

(please read the update to my review at the bottom!) Wow, no! I suppose I should have read the reviews first. If you have any choice at all, DO NOT go here. I got a set of presciption glasses last summer, and, having been here before, i wanted to order a pair of prescription sunglasses for my upcoming vacation. I picked out a frame i liked, and a salesperson noted down my preferences on lens options. I was told it would take one to 1 1/2 weeks until the glasses were ready for pickup. The salesperson stressed that it would likely be only one week, but they had to quote a couple of extra days, just in case, which was great, because I wanted to be sure I got my sunglasses before I went on vacation. I stopped in last Friday, as I was in the neighborhood, and was told that they weren't in yet, but that they would be Monday or Tuesday at the latest. It's Tuesday afternoon, and I hadn't heard anything from Clearview. So I called. I was told that they'd check on my order and call me back. When it got close to 5pm (their closing time) I called again. I was summarily dismissed by the manager, saying that the glasses aren't done and that they wouldn't be ready until mid-May. When I mentioned the turnaround I was quoted - twice! - I was told that they didn't have any control over when the glasses would be received. Mind you, I paid almost $800, and I chose to go to a brick-and-mortar place, specifically because I wanted to make sure my glasses were ready in time for my vacation. The manager was rude, dismissive, and not in the least inclined to take any responsibility for making promises they knew they wouldn't be able to keep. His "solution" was for me to just cancel the order, and to have my money refunded. The tone of his voice dripped with indifference. Since I won't get my glasses as promised, I'm tempted to cancel. Unfortunately, this will put my ETA out even farther. I am beyond disappointed. I will never go here again, and if you value honest customer service, you shouldn't either. This place is a rip-off without accountability. Update - I just received a voice mail from Bryan at Clearview. He said that he talked to the lab and was able to expedite my lenses, and that my glasses would be ready tomorrow! I don't know what prompted the change, but I'm grateful and very happy. I am changing my review from one star to four stars, because they made an effort and came through for me in the end. read more

Wow. This was my 2nd attempt to get my Mom cataract surgery. The front desk and the woman who does the eye exam were great...both times. The first time we waited approx 50 min after our scheduled time. So not impressed. Dr. Meyer was then recommended by a friend. We waited 40 min. We decided to leave. Got up to leave and the staff said he would be right in. My Mother is profoundly deaf. She was very upset at the wait time. She voiced that opinion(rather loudly like deaf people do). It was not worth the wait. Dr Meyer was a complete asshat. Wish I had read the reviews before. Maybe an anger management problem. This place is a mill. Too bad. Great location, nice facility. Serious time management problems. One word from staff saying...we are running a little bit late would have made all the difference. read more

Unfortunately had to visit Clearview Clinic all of a sudden to have my husband's eye injury checked. We got an appointment with Dr. Meyer on the same day and were glad the receptionist accomodated us at such a short notice. We arrive and the paper work is taken care of and the front desk staff is friendly and warm. Finally we wait for Dr. Meyer. He walks into the room and there is no sign of greeting or even acknowledging my presence in the room with my husband. He reads checks examines puts some drops! No asking the patient what happened, how did it happen, when did it happen nothing! Wonder how good can his findings get by just reading notes written by the nurse. I kept nudging my husband to re-iterate his symptoms but all my husband said was "he did not even ask" so finally my husband mentioned all his pain and Dr. Meyer did check but he seemed pretty unfriendly. He gave us some drops and thankfully my husband's eye is doing well. If I could and in case of non-emergency I would go else where! read more

This review is for Dr. Meyer in particular. All the schedulers, front desk and technician staff were friendly and helpful. When I saw Dr. Meyer, he seemed nice enough, but as the appointment went on, and he suggested that I come back to get more tests done and I tried explaining that I was getting tests done elsewhere he became frustrated with me on the verge of yelling at me. He started to belittle me and questioned my knowledge and the credentials of the other doctors that I was seeing at a different location. The records that he received from my referring doctor were blank, which makes sense why he didn't know the reason for my visit, but is it not the responsibility of the provider to get that cleared up before seeing the patient? He constantly kept interrupting me whenever I tried to explain my situation so I did not feel heard as a patient. He came off as entitled and unprofessional and I felt like I was being shooed out the door by the end of the visit like I was not worth his time. It was hard to trust anything he told me since the visit seemed rushed and I did not know if he was actually listending to what I was saying. Not sure if he was just having a bad day or something, but it was a very bad experience for me. Hope he can build off of this review and become better. read more

I'm not sure why the reviews are so bad for this place. My experience from beginning to end was very positive and I would recommend to others. I had a LASIK consultation that was extremely informative and Dr. Mulligan took the time to answer my questions and give me a crystal clear idea of what to expect. I did not sense an upsell. It was determined I was a good candidate for the procedure and if I wanted to see without glasses, I could schedule (which I did!) Day of the procedure everyone was ready to go, and I was in and out in less than an hour and a half. As you can imagine getting the procedure done is a little scary but there was no pain and Dr M had a fantastic way of talking you through the procedure and what was happening. Early spring I went to Clearview Eye and Laser for an eyelid procedure. Dr. Meyer told me what I needed and left the room, he never answered any of my question or allowed me to say anything. I decided that I did need a cataract surgery so I called back to the office and I asked him can I have another doctor they will talk to me and explain what I need to have done and what procedure is going to be done. They recommended Dr. Mulligan - that he might be more professional and answer some of the questions that I had. I decide to do the cataract surgery I went in and I had the right eye cataract done and schedule to do the left side 2 weeks later. My vision wasn't very clear however, they told me it would take a while to adjust, especially because I was talked into spenting an extra $4,400 to do the multifocal lenses. When I went in for the second eye, I told him that I was having certain problems with my right eye which he said we'll check it after the left eye operation. At the post-op appointment for the left eye he checked my right eye and he found something very serious so he sent me to a retina specialist immediately. He asked the specialist office to stay open late for an emergency appointment. I was required to have two retina operations afterwards to fix the problem that he had caused. After going through a lot of pain and a lot of uncertainties I wanted to speak to him and he never called me back to this day. I'm still doing treatment trying to repair the redness problem that he created. read more
