While we are very happy with the final results, getting to the so-called "finish line" proved to be…read morea bit of a challenge. That is the reason for this update. This remodeling project was begun around July 21, 2022. About three and one-half weeks later, the job was listed as complete and we were once again able to use this bathroom. However, during the following week, we had to have someone come out again to make repairs: hot/cold water in the shower was flipped; hole along the tile and baseboard discovered; silicone was coming off the niche area in the shower; caulking was incomplete around the perimeter of the shower floor. Once those repairs were made, we thought that finally we were done. Nope. The paint on the ceiling started to peel above the shower. A lot. Finally had the painter return to repair that and we thought, once again, we were done. Apparently not, since we were told the ceiling was "fixed," but something different was evidently told to Roberto. After another week, the entire ceiling showed pieces of paint peeling off. Called for another repair. This time, Roberto came out and told us that the ceiling hadn't been done right in the first place and our only option was to tear out the entire ceiling and start over at an additional cost of $450. That did not sound like a reasonable idea, so it was then suggested that the ceiling texture be redone instead and painting would be done with eggshell (semi-gloss) paint rather than latex paint. We accepted that solution and waited for it to be fixed, finally. Painter came out and did the work at the end of September, but in total we were once again out of that bathroom for 5 days waiting for texture, primer and paint to dry. However, this seems to have truly repaired the problem - thank goodness. Then I get emailed an invoice for $350 for the ceiling repair. Wow. Paid that invoice on September 27, 2022: almost 10 weeks after the job was begun. Unfortunately for Roberto and his crews, though, he was what you can call "penny wise and pound foolish." We had informed every contractor that gave us a bid for this bathroom that based on our experience, we would then move forward for the really big job -- a complete remodel of the master bathroom -- a much larger and more expensive project. Because of the 6-week drag after "completion" and delay due to the ceiling repairs (along with other fixes) and the $350 invoice we received, we did not even consider a bid from Kitchen & Bath Remodeling for our master bathroom. Chose another contractor instead.

My wife and I are very pleased with Roberto's technical team. We had a bath tub removed and replaced with a walk-in shower. We picked out the new material with the help of Doris (Robert s wife and store manager). All new materials were selected from their showroom. They replaced the countertop with great stone top and all plumbing faucets were replaced. Two years ago, we remodeled our master bathroom and we loved the job these guys did. If you have a remodel job, you should give Robert and Doris a call before hiring anyone else. Reasonable price and first class personal service from job requirements quote to final job completion.

Leslie came to my home for a consultation and truly helped bring my vision to life. Their modern showroom is beautiful and inspiring. The project manager was very responsive and always quick to communicate. The workers were clean, respectful, and took great care to protect all surrounding areas of my home during the work. I felt their pricing was very fair, and the quality of the work exceeded my expectations--beautiful, precise, and completed efficiently. I truly felt like I was their only customer throughout the entire process. I will absolutely be using Modern Design and Remodeling for future projects in my home. If you're on the fence about starting a project, you can't go wrong contacting Leslie to help turn your vision into a reality. Thank you for my beautiful new fireplace!

We ended up doing more than the planned remodel. We knocked out walls, remodeled the fireplace front, new floor throughout, upgraded the Jack and Jill bathroom and extended the patio cover. The end results are fantastic. We would definitely recommend Modern Design and Remodeling.

Kyra Homes Kitchen & Bath Remodeling - Lionel actually had the gall to say this was ok and that quartz slabs are naturally crooked.

I am writing this to warn other homeowners about our experience with Lionel Lopez and Kyra Homes…read more We hired them for a bathroom remodel, and it was a complete disaster. Lionel talks a big game about being an expert in remodels but the "workmanship" was some of the worst I've ever seen. We dealt with crooked tiles, grout lines that were completely uneven, and a quartz countertop that wasn't level. Lionel tried to gaslight us at every complaint to say we were too demanding and to say the quartz is "naturally crooked". Lionel tried to "rework" things several times, but even the fixes were barely acceptable. It felt like they were learning as they went on our dime. The biggest issue was the hidden work. After they "finished", 2 out of 3 bathroom sinks leaked immediately (requiring rework). We were so concerned that we stopped the project before they could finish the shower and bathtub. It's a good thing we did because we had a licensed plumber come out to inspect everything, and they found a huge list of code violations. The waterproofing was so completely compromised that the shower pan and drain would have leaked into our walls, causing massive damage and mold. Their solution for all waterproofing was simply more silicone grout which is ridiculous. I am including pictures here of the work they thought was acceptable. Please note all the screws going through the waterproofing barrier, the dirt they used to fill in the space under the drain, lack of redguard, and the fact they didn't even take the plastic peel off the metal drain cover before caulking it directly to the tile. It's insane they thought that would seal water in a shower floor. I'm also including pics of the crooked quartz countertop, the crooked and uneven tile, and ugly attempt at bead board. Keep in mind, this is all stuff that Lionel says was good and blames us for being too demanding about. I wish I could add more but I am limited by character count here. We eventually had to hire a real professional company to come in, tear out every single thing Kyra Homes did, and start over from scratch to make it safe and up to code. This was an incredibly stressful and expensive lesson. We are currently in the process of suing Lionel and Kyra Homes to get money back because we feel scammed. Please, stay away from Lionel and Kyra Homes at all costs!

When I told them I had checked the box to see the slab first and even had the sales person make a notation in the computer, they more or less said too bad. I then asked them to send pictures of the cut slab. When they did, It had a large gray vain running through it and it looked nothing like the picture of the slab that I ordered from. The picture I ordered from was cream colored with light soft gold veining. I had multiple conversations with Sherry Pennier and she was not the nicest person to deal with. She told me that I would have to buy another slab and have it redone. When I asked her for the number of her supervisor she refused to give it to me. After arguing she finally said she would have the next person up give me a call. Sean Demory was no better. When I asked him for the next person up he said he was it. He refused to give me an email or number of anyone else I could talk to. When I asked him what happened to customers were always right he said no they were not. The sales and design process was smooth, and delivery went fine. Unfortunately, I damaged a handful of the little cam-lock fasteners . When I contacted customer service for replacements, I was quoted $2.50 each for the cam locks and a flat $35 shipping charge regardless of quantity. For perspective: These are tiny zinc cam locks that weigh one ounce for 30 of them. Identical or extremely close generic versions sell on Amazon for $0.35-$0.50 each with free or $6-$8 shipping. USPS Priority Mail for that weight is $7-$9 anywhere in the continental U.S. Paying $35 to ship something that fits in a padded envelope feels predatory, especially when the parts themselves are already marked up 5-7× retail. I asked if they could use standard parcel shipping; I never received a response to my request. I contacted the one of the retail stores and they were going to give me the cam locks out of the inventory they had on hand, they just didn't have the quantity I needed, so they referred me to the customer service department. I ended up buying generic cam locks elsewhere for under $20 shipped and they work perfectly, but it's disappointing that a company that does so many things right makes it this expensive and difficult to get the exact OEM parts. Cabinets To Go - please reconsider your small-parts shipping policy. A $35 minimum on lightweight hardware is driving customers away.

Even a few days later, when I thought of more things to ask, he was quick to respond and made sure I got the info I needed. I asked a lot of off the wall things, but he was patient and made sure I understood the explanation of different types of patios and materials. Before starting the project, he walked me through the plan and introduced me to my project manager, Luis. Luis was great, he kept me updated the whole way, even during the first week when I was out of town. I had no worries and I was able to enjoy my vacation while full on construction was going on at my home. Every crew that came out, roofing, painting, cement, told me what they were there to do and asked if I had any questions before getting started. I also have to mention Blanca in the office, every time I called, she was so friendly and easy to talk to, it was like I'd known her for years. The end result? My patio is beautiful! I was torn between putting money down on a larger home and moving, or building a patio to add square footage for gatherings. I am so happy I went with a new patio instead of the debt of a new home. I had to personally put getting any remodeling and home additions on hold while I cared for my dad for over a year. We talked about my patio dream before he passed in March. He kept telling me -"get that patio done". I'll think of him every time I'm enjoying my new space.
