Travelled a LONG way for these nails because my girlfriend and I planned a Pamper Me day. We were the first 2 appointments of the day. The ambiance was fabulous. Music was great! Our plan was to try a spot we could return to for escape from responsibility adventures every 2 weeks. We were greeted by a very nice girl who appeared to be a receptionist. She was very pleasant, but was unclear on pricing information and product availability. My girlfriend and I began plotting strategies to get the looks we were going for - both of us opting for full set coffin style nails. The girl who accepted my appointment started by really taking the time to listen to my ideas and gave me a great volley of suggestions, however, she finished by saying she was not as good of an artist as some of the other girls and would have to give my appointment away if I wanted what we settled on. Not wanting to get stuck waiting, we modified strategies so she could do the job, and began working on my nails. Conversation was great, and vibe was chill. Then I was offered a wine cocktail - which was great! Even had a floating strawberry in it. I specifically requested that the nails be as thin/natural looking as possible. The tech verbalized understanding, but very shortly into the acrylic application, I began to notice lumps in the acrylic. The technician assured me they would be taken care of as she had several other steps before final product. I am familiar how nail processes work, and knew she was going to have to do a lot of sanding down to get rid of the lumps she was creating. She did mention she had been doing nails for 2 years btw... Long review short, the nails were very cute from afar, but up close they looked and felt like a lumpy disaster. Add insult to injury, by day 2 I had 2 nails lifting! Had the salon not been so far from me, I would have returned at day 2 to show them. So began the super glue train - no bueño *insert eye roll here* By day 9, I lost 1 nail, and was able to pop the rest off with ease. Got a pedi as well. My toe nails were already cut so I figured more time would be spent on the rest of my foot... Was the quickest pedi ever and above and beyond the cute polish, not much else was accomplished. Everyone told me I got the girl who gives the best massages, but her 5 minute thumb rub of my calves was painful and not at all soothing, so I cringe at the thought of what other pedis feel like. Needless to say, the experience and ambiance was awesome, but the work left much to be desired. Will not return... not worth the drive for the $90 spent. read more

I am a cosmetologist myself, that can do my own nails, but I was feeling lazy and wanted to pay a professional. I specifically looked for a black owned salon I wanted to support, and found this holy grail! These are by far the best nails I've ever had. I do hair so I get my nails wet a lot and they pop off easily. Not only have these not even stained from hair color somehow (wow), not a single one has popped off and it's time for a fill. OMG I was on eggshells looking for a new nail shop I just love it here, I don't know if it's the tools or the equipment but everyone here is beyond amazing technicians. Always clean, professional and organized. they support each other they're patient, they do everything how it's supposed to be done so at least plan to be there an hour and a half bare minimum they take their time and will politely tell you they are not a chop shop. I've been serviced and satisfied by mostly everyone here, Each and everyone of them constantly checks in with you during your service to make sure you're satisfied and happy before you leave. I went to this place twice before I decided to write a review. The staff is super friendly, the ambiance is great, but the talent is just not there. The first time I went, the tech couldn't do a simple marble design (she tried like three times) so we decided on something else. It turned out fine but it wasn't what I wanted and it took FOREVER. And I had to take the file and shape a couple of MY OWN nails. Second time, same thing. She struggled with the design, the shape was terrible, nails were all different lengths and the acrylic was so thick and bulky it peeled off in chunks the next day. And it took Forever like HOURS. That's not even to mention all my eyelash extensions falling out on one eye and them not being able to find my appointment in the system when I arrived. All in all, the salon has potential, but I won't be back for a while. read more

I went here today as it is super close to where I live and I was looking for a new place to get my nails and pedicures done. I have been getting my nails done for years and of course, I have become somewhat picky over time. It can be extremely hard to find a place that does an excellent job, provides a pleasant experience and a comfortable environment, and is overall the kind of place you want to give your business to. Clawed met all of the above and then some. I had two technicians (one for feet and one for nails). Both ladies were kind, funny, and their attention to detail was refreshing. If they noticed any problems with the nails (I came in with a full set done elsewhere and they were popping off, turning my fill into another full set) or the polish (not drying, streaking, missed corner, etc.), they fixed the issues immediately and correctly without any prompting from me. They didn't take any short cuts, leaving it for me to find problems later. They clearly take pride in their work and continuously check in with you to make sure you like how things are coming out. The receptionist is very kind and even helped me pick a polish. As a customer, I really appreciate little things like that. I appreciate a business that cares and wants me to be happy with their services. The shop itself is absolutely gorgeous, the music was on point, and my nails and toes turned out beautifully. I can't even review the actual service. This is for appointment setting and initial service. I called 45 minutes ago and asked if they were taking walk-ins. She said for what service - I said pedicure. She said sure come in and but we only take cash. No problem. So between me finding an ATM near by and the horrible parking situation. I spent 15 min in the damn parking lot trying to find a parking spot. For me to give up and decide to park across the street and Jay way to the building. I get inside, she ask if I had an appointment- the answer was - No I just called and someone said I could come in. She said oh that was a while ago! (45 minutes to be exact from the time I called to the time I showed up) And she said oh we're booked! No further comments were made. There was no, I can do you in 20 minutes- nothing! Why tell someone over the phone - you take walk-in then I get there and you ask if I have an appointment? It's really sad and bad business because you had a potential recurring client in your salon that you let walk out - with no recourse! Sad to say, I won't be back. I recently moved to Downtown LA from Riverside and spent 2 weeks looking for a good nail salon near me with reasonable prices...after much searching I came across Clawed Nails and decided to give them a chance based on the good reviews and the work by Myesha and Joetta. I am extremely happy with the turnout! I got a gel pedicure by Nayeli. She did a good job and esthetically my toes came out great! I also got a full gel acrylic set by Myesha! I showed her the design I wanted on my ring finger and she nailed it! I also got the coffin shape and I must say these were the best coffin shape I've received from a nail tech! I scheduled an appointment on a Wednesday which was an awesome experience. No waiting and it was very quiet. My nail tech was Jovy and she was so chill and very personable. I really enjoyed her energy. I can't tell you how many nail shops I've been to in the last few months. So walking in to this shop was like a breath of fresh air. Jovy is passionate about her craft. If something isn't coming out right, she'll take her time to fix it. Even if that means shaving down the acrylic she just applied. You're not just a customer, the nail techs engage in conversation and ask every step of the process Is this what you wanted. I decided to go with they simple Ombre Tangerine and Pink and Jovy nailed it. The shaping is perfect and I loved how she fated my tips. What I enjoyed most about this particular nail shop is. All the nail techs are of the same caliber. They can all execute shaping, Ombre and designs. So don't feel like you have to request just one particular person. The energy and level of perfectionism was on point. I booked another appointment with Jovy before I left. Overall the experience wasn't bad. However I made an appointment for a full set and pedicure but when I arrived they said I asked for a manicure and pedicure. I corrected her and she said it was her fault (receptionist) however the nail tech said she couldn't do any design or anything that wasn't basic. I want to start off by saying I've never been one to get my nails done consistently. I'm mostly an introverted person and I do have issues correcting people because I don't want to come off as rude. However my experience here I would describe as hot and cold. When I first walked in the owner greeted me. She was very kind, asked me about my day and prepped me for my full set. After I was prepped she handed me off to another girl (I think her name was either Nancy or Nicole). The energy shifted completely once I went to her. Like I said I don't get my nails done very often and the places I've gone to before were very patient with me. It seemed like she was annoyed with me from the get go. Her energy was just bad, maybe she thought I was giving off bad vibes too I'm not sure. I asked for short almond shaped, black French tips, and an all black nail with glitter on my ring figure. I made sure to show her a picture just in case I wasn't explaining myself correctly. The shape was just what I wanted but the execution of the black tips was just bad. I definitely should have said something or maybe been more direct with what I wanted. At the end the of the day my experience with the nail tech was just awkward and I didn't feel comfortable.
