I've visited this establishment a few times only via drive thru and I've liked the quality to price ratio enough to visit often! Quick service, decent food for price, and right down the street!

    $13.59 + tax? Not worth it. 12/14/24

Done with this place! I paid $13.50 + tax for the Corned beef hash & eggs breakfast. I open the box and the amount of Corned beef in the box for the amount of money I paid was disappointing. Pay more, get less? No, thank you!

ordered a patty melt with onion rings the onion rings were very unseasoned and the patty melt made my stomach hurt only made it through half the sandwich

The last time we were here, it was during a busy lunch and both the service and the food were below par. But tonight, it wasn't as busy and our server, Geovani, was excellent. First, we were quickly greeted and asked to select our table (since they were not that busy). Since there was only two of us, we picked a table for two. But, after we decided that we would split an appetizer and an entree, the table for two became way to small way too quickly. Geovani jumped right on this, suggesting we move to a larger table. He helped us move everything over and, voila, we were able to stretch out and relax and enjoy our meal. We started with the pear and blue cheese salad and, wow, we could have just ordered this, split it, and we would have been full. Very flavorful, generous portion that is definitely big enough to share. We also ordered the Sausage & Leek Fettuccine and I was definitely not thinking. Totally forgetting that leeks are part of the onion family (and I have a sensativity to onions). Once the dish arrive, I immediately noticed the similarity and was slowly trying to pick them away from my portion. Once again, Geovani came to our rescue. He asked how everything was and I told him I made a mistake (noted above). He quickly volunteered to have the kitchen make it again without the leeks. I asked, "Are you sure?", and he immediately said yes and removed the dish. Very shortly after, he returned with the "onion sterile" dish and it was wonderful. Both of us were so full you could have rolled us out the door. Good thing the parking garage is so close so we could just hop in our car and go home. Time to loosen the belt! ;) In a week where we have had some personal issues, it was so nice to be treated so well and received such a great tasting meal. Hope you get the time to stop in and I hope you get Giovani to answer all your questions and issues. Enjoy!!!

The staff are friendly and welcoming. They greet you when you arrive and also say goodbye when you leave, which I really appreciate. They have a separate kids menu with plenty of options. The overall menu is diverse as well. It's not just breakfast, but also tacos, pancakes, sandwiches, and salads. My go-to dish is the Original Loaded Hash Browns. It's really delicious and the portion size is just right. I also tried the Cobb salad with added chicken. It was fresh, but the dressing was a bit heavy and slightly salty. Unfortunately, I found a small piece of plastic in it, but when I mentioned it, they handled it well and removed it from the bill. The music is good, but the speakers don't seem to be in great condition, so the sound quality could be better.

We arrived and unfortunately it was a 45min wait for a table, but we were set on eating there so we waited. The service was friendly. Our waiter was very attentive and checked in on us regularly. I ordered the shrimp and grits with a scrambled egg. The egg was nice and fluffy - perfectly cooked. Really loved the flavor from the shrimp and the sausage. The bell peppers added a nice touch and it had a noticeable Cajun seasoning. Not the best shrimp and grits I ever had but definitely far from the worst. I would definitely order it again. For desert we ordered the lemon drop pancakes. Definitely a unique flavor that I've never had before. Per the name, it was definitely on the sweet side.

Our server, Raquel, was lovely and on top of things. I had what I think is the best Mai Tai I've ever had, even while in Hawaii! Just delicious. We enjoyed the fried asparagus and bacon deviled eggs as our appetizer. The buttermilk fried chicken, crispy chicken sandwich and the ribeye melt were really good, but I am STILL thinking about how incredible Cha Cha's Spicy Rigatoni was. So incredibly creamy, and full of flavor, with just the right amount of heat. My daughter orders this every time it's on a menu, and this is by far the best I've ever tasted. SO good. We had mentioned we were celebrating our twins' birthday, and they were served two lovely pieces of chocolate cake with a candle, AND a card for each of them signed by the staff. Never have I experienced that before for a birthday in a restaurant! Just a great touch. I am SO glad my daughter suggested we go here, and every time we're in town we will return. Alright, it took me a second to gather my thoughts, but here it is…read more I came to Soul Food Shack with my expectations set squarely on the food. I was only in Cali for a short while, and this spot happened to be about 15 min down the street from where I was staying. Perfect location, and I was curious to see how Cali does soul food. From the first bite, it hit me Emotionally triggered as I was transported straight back to my childhood. It felt like I was sitting at the kitchen table in New Orleans, eating my nanny's candied yams, greens, macaroni, and fried chicken. The flavors had that deep, home-cooked love, that is not taken for granted or lost on me, so hats off to the cook! That kind of food doesn't just fill you up; it connects you,and to top it off, the drinks? Man, they serve that real deal kol-aid. The kind I used to drink as a kid. As I was eating, I started thinking about how food ties us to previous & future generations. It's wild how dishes once considered scraps i.e: greens, yams, cornbread, oxtails, are now sought out in restaurants just like this one. These meals are more than just food; they're stories of survival, resilience, and community. But I digress, I know y'all didn't come here for a history lesson in Black culture, so I'll leave it at that. Now, onto the standouts. The mac and cheese and yams? Easily the stars of the plate. I like my yams runny and solid, because I love mixing it with the cornbread. Sweet, savory, soft--that combo hits every time. The macaroni? Seasoned perfectly. Creamy, rich, and not bland like you sometimes get at other spots . That's rare, and I don't take it for granted. Overall, Soul Food Shack gave me more than just a good meal, it gave me a taste of home, miles away from where I grew up. If you're ever in Inglewood and need some food that feeds more than just your stomach, pull up, tap in, eat up.
