I went to the service area Monday morning at 9 am. the service representative told me I wasn't scheduled until June 8 th ???? this is for my left front tire that has a slow leak. I said" are you kidding" ?? she said hang on I'll see if I can get you in. she did. come to find out there was a screw in my tire. 2.3 stars should be your sign to not have your car serviced here. Our Toyota Rav4 had a splash shield needing replaced and we went to Classic Toyota and dropped over $200 for the part and labor. Fast forward a few months, the new splash shield that they installed began dragging and ultimately snapped off mid drive. While under the 1 year warranty, because the splash shield was not present and able to be brought in (somewhere in the middle of the highway broken), they would not honor the warranty. On top of that, the front bumper's eyelids that hold the splash shield are now broken from the splash shield THEY IMPROPERLY INSTALLED. Now they are quoting over $500 to fix their inadequate work. The best part is them saying they are getting their manager to approve a good will replacement on the parts since we bought the parts there, they installed it, AND they are the only people to have worked on the car for oil changes. After waiting a hour they tell is no good will was approved. Pay full price. Freaking joke. They've lost my family's business for life and don't deserve yours. read more

Three years ago I took my Toyota Prius to Classic Toyota for repairs. The value of my car when it was in good condition was about $2,500. After a week they told me that the engine had to be replaced and it would cost $3,500. If you didn't accept it, you would have to pay $1,500 to open the engine and labor. I agreed to pay $3,500 to have my car repaired, but after two weeks they told me that now you have to pay $14,000 and they harassed me so much that they finally forced me to give them my car for free. Did an alignment on my wife's car. We didn't drive the car anywhere after it was done. My wife took her car to kia to have her oil changed and they said her alignment was out and needed to be done. Toyota never did it right in the first place and charged us double what kia did. Kias customer service far supercedes toyotas. Took my car in for a checkup. Got a quote of $3500 to get it fixed with $1800 for a completely new exhaust system. As the car is worth only $5500, I declined service. I then took my car to the local custom muffler shop and had the problem fixed for only $95. A new mesh metal weave sleeve had worn out and needed to be replaced. The rest of the exhaust system was still in great shape and I was able to inspect with my own eyes. Needless to say, I won't be back to Classic Toyota with any of my Toyota vehicles. December 16, 2020. I was sent to Classic by my insurance company (Ethos)to get a wiring issue fixed. I had an appt for 8am. Miranda was my assigned service person. We were told they could not give me a loaner car since they didn't have one available. (They had one the week before when appointment was made). We took car in the night before. Next day we were told they had to others come in and "couldn't get to it until late". (Why did we make an appointment?) So, we go pick up car, at 6:30 pm, and were told the part to fix the issue was $10,000, and they would have to check with my insurance company. January 14th, 2021, after multiple messages left, finally got Miranda on the phone. She said she contacted insurance and they would not pay for the part nor the work. I went to my normal place we buy cars and get work done. They had sold me the car, and sent me to Classic as my issue was a manufacturer defect. They called my insurance. We were told they had not had 1 call from Classic regarding my vehicle. At that time they gave the ok to take it anywhere to get it fixed and they would pay. They also paid for a loaner while mine is being worked on. So to summarize....Classic made an appointment with me, and failed to do work in a timely manner. Classic did not even try to contact my insurance to see if it covered work done. Classic LIED about contacting my insurance company. I hope everyone realizes this is not a good place to do any kind of service with. I surely would not buy a car from a place with this service department. read more

After leaving from a routine oil change, the horn on my older car kept going off during turning. It seems to be the piece of plastic with a button that articulates to the Bluetooth module in the steering wheel was pushing into the horn and causing it to go off. On my return after discovering this I was met with a pretty rude sales representative who instead of offering any kind of solution for me now, gaslit me and implied that maybe it is my slight oil leak that has been persistent nigh on three years that is causing this never before occurring issue, he was rude and completely unhelpful. I played with the plastic piece and it does seem to be that this was the issue, the horn is not going off as I turn. Prior to this interaction, everything was fine with the oil change as far as I know. It is really just the guy's rude behavior, complete insincerity, and lack of any kind of give-a-crap that left a sour taste in my mouth. THIS IS MY VERY FIRST REVIEW for anything ever in my life but after my most recent experience I felt it necessary to review Classic Toyota on my new car purchase on 11/24/21. Grant it, I did not have to make the purchase (I could have just walked out) but if you are looking to get a good deal or value for your hard earned money, I suggest finding another dealership as here they will not sell you anything unless you pay an automatic $3000 (what they call "Addendum") mark up over the window sticker MSRP. And what they "give" you for that is a set of Weather Tech floor mats and Tint the windows of the vehicle. You can get the mats yourself for $213(tax included) and get the windows tinted for a little less than that. And what is crazy is that you pay $275 (in the price of the car) for the carpet mats that come with the vehicle and are never going to use them. They will not work with you or come off of the $3000 mark up even if you don't need/want the floor mats or tint. SO, TO NOT FEEL as if you are getting completely taken advantage of you might as well get the mats(I'm gonna sell mine on eBay since I had some from my 2018 car of the same model) and window tint. read more

I brought my car into the service department for a recall. Amazing service and cleanliness. They wore mask and had sanitizer everywhere. I felt safe! 5-stars to them! The sales floor in the other hand, no mask at all, no one was wearing a mask except myself and a few customers. No Sanitizer anywhere. I test drove vehicles with the unmasked sales person in the car. On top of that, it was the typically pushy salesman type people. Their only objectives to sell me a car. Of course, they showed me all their most expensive models first. Recommendation: Car Max. Everyone was nice, non-pushy, wore mask, AND wiped down any vehicles I test drove. They were concerned about my health and safety, and what kind of vehicle I wanted. Not what they wanted to sell me. I began hearing a whistling or squealing noise from under my 2017 Tacoma. It got progressively worse so I took it in to the Toyota dealership in Tyler for repair. When I got there the noise had stopped and they could not repair what they could not verify. In a few weeks it started again so I took it back to the Tyler facility and once again they could not replicate the issue. The service employee Mr. Nathan Naccarato was very professional and explained in a very clear way that they were sorry but they could not do a repair on something that they couldn't verify. I was not charged anything for either of the two times that I had previously come in. Finally after a couple of more weeks the noise began a third time and I began to research online and found that this same issue had been identified by several Tacoma owners and that the problem was a failing "Carrier Bearing". A third time, I set up an appointment to have the repair done and surprisingly this time the truck was still making the noise as I arrived at the dealership for the repair appointment. I explained to Mr. Naccarato what I had found online and forwarded to him the You tube video with audio of another truck with the same issue. He understood completely and said that he would pass on the information to their technicians. After several hours I received a call from Nathan and he said that they had found and repaired the issue at no cost to me since my truck was still under warranty. They replaced the carrier bearing as well as an adjacent U-joint. Nathan was very professional in all our dealings and I highly recommend he as well as Toyota of Tyler. This was a very peculiar situation which was very hard to identify. I am very pleased with all my dealings with this dealership and recommend it to anyone. read more

Both times I was told that "the computer just crashed and I'll have to call you back" when I said I want to speak with someone right now I was told that is not a possibility and then they hung up on me. The last couple of times I've been in there for service, it has been poor customer at best. They may have a new service building but they still have the same bad attitudes. I bought my used 2019 F-150 here and have had no problems with it. I continued going to Classic Toyota so that all of my service records would be in the same place. The first two times I went for oil changes, I was informed that they do not keep Ford oil filters on hand and would have to have the part delivered (understandable considering that they're Toyota) so knowing this- I called an hour in advance of my appointment to let them know that they would need to go ahead and order the part so that I wouldn't be waiting for hours. When I called, the parts department said that they would not order the part in advance. They wanted to wait until I got there to make sure that the "part numbers matched"... this is the same part I have had to have them order the last two times I've been here. I proceeded to get to the dealership and as I anticipated, ended up waiting a whole two hours to get my vehicle serviced. I could have gone 8 miles down the road to pennzoil and gotten it done in 20 minutes versus driving 25 minutes into town and waiting 2 hours. This place is a joke. Don't waste hours of your life sitting in their waiting room for them to try and push unnecessary sales on you. Go somewhere else. read more

May the 17th I carried my truck to the service center for some body work repair. I had an after market system put in my truck about three months prior to needing the body work done. When I took the truck in to them my audio system was working fine but, when I picked it up in early June the amp was burned up. The service department says that it was not their fault and they did not do anything to it and said there was nothing they could do for me. They did not want to take responsibility for it and I had to pay to have the amp replaced myself. So be careful taking your vehicles here. read more

I will not be doing business with this place ever again! I tend to judge a business based on their performance and I can tolerate a lot to get a desired end result. I am having to liquidate an estate for a friend. As such I have been leaving a car from the estate parked in the end of the driveway to keep looting to a minimum. As half expected someone set off the car's alarm this drained the battery over night and when I jumped it off the alarm engaged and the locked out the ignition. Something Toyota called an anti-theft automobile immobilizer. No matter what I did I couldn't get past this. So I had a wrecker take it 37 miles to Classic Toyota as it was the only place that would even look at it. I talked to several ladies on the phone, they were very helpful, the issue began when the car arrived at the service center of Classic Toyota. I was supposed to have gotten a callback when it arrived, that never happened. Because of dealing with en estate liquidation I forgot about it as I had other pressing matters to deal with. 2 weeks pass by and the estate sale is over. I have time to call them. I got some excuse that they had lost the key, that I had not bad an appointment (I did). The 2 weeks that is on me, and I'm fine with it taking how ever long it took. I never got a call back to let me know they found the key, I did get a text message that they needed to disconnect the alarm in order to see if the car would work. I said Of course whatever you have to do. 2 days pass by and I get another text saying the car was ready, and that I could come pick it up charge was $149 What I got back was a car that started but every light on the dash was on. the steering column cover was laying in pieces in the floor half of the dash was also in the floor. The Ignition cover was still in the floor. wires were just cut under the drivers side door just hanging there. There is no way this car will ever pass an inspection. So thanks for nothing I can't even sell the car, I was forced to buy it from the estate and since it can't pass an inspection I'll have to use it for a farm truck. I would have made a stink about it at the time, but it is just best to post the issue here. and see if I can have it fixed by actual qualified people. read more

No reason to buy a used car from them. I was sold a used Toyota that they had sold new and had always maintained. It had a problem that Toyota made known to dealers but they never fixed it. By the time I became aware of the problem, the repair period had run out and they refused to do anything for me. Their solution was to 'trade me out' for another used vehicle, plus $4000, of course. As I drove off the lot, I found that the electronics did not work right and it had developed a huge dent in the roof since I test drove it. Back I went and demanded they take it back, which they did. A week later I traded the original piece of junk in Dallas at the Lexus dealer for a RELIABLE used car for a much better price than I could get in Tyler. I will never buy another used car from them. This by the way had nothing to do with the salesman who was helpful and always followed up. It was the sales manager and general manager who were involved in this mess. read more

I would not recommend Classic Toyota in Tyler to any of my friends or family. Not to purchase a vehicle nor service area. I am very unhappy with how I was treated by more than 1 employee and they false advertise. Took my car to the service area on Saturday March 6th and online their SERVICE hours stated 7am-5pm. Got there at 1:50 to get my cars air conditioning looked at and they said service for that closes at 2. My husband and I were very upset not only at the fact that we had a car of 3 kids with no ac but we also live 30 mins away and that their website CLEARLY stated open until 5pm Saturday. We were told there is nothing they could do and to come back Monday to have my car looked at. And at that point I had less than 100 miles until my warranty was over, another reason I brought it in Saturday. So Monday I took off early to carry my 3 kids back up there and I explained my issues I was having with my car and they said they didn't have time to look at both issues that day. Laura the lady who we spoke with Saturday and Monday was very disrespectful, rude, and not pleasant at all with no type of friendly manners or words. And after waiting for my car to be looked at for my ac they said they can't fix it on my warranty. I asked to leave it there to get the RPM looked at and get a rental but they claimed no rental was available which on Saturday I discussed needing a rental. Shortly after I left obviously upset and frustrated I realized my car hood wasn't latched. I called and talked to the manager Scotty and explained the hood issue and asked if it was protocol for them to leave it unlatched and that the latch to close my hood was bent and told him my other million issues I had there. He explained he would call me Tuesday to figure out what he could do for me. Tuesday at 1 he calls and very shortly explained nothing could be done to make my experience better. Horrible experience at this dealer. I had been looking for a car for quite some time and visited several dealers. Majority of which were very cordial and tried to meet my needs. Upon my visit to Classic I met with one of the managers to deal with my trade and what car I was interested in. During our conversation I was expressing what I have been doing in the course of looking into a new purchase and describing what I wanted for my trade. The manager was texting and scrolling through his emails during the conversation and kept telling me he was listening. I started to discuss what other dealers had to offer and he would just start interrupting me and telling me that the warranties other company's offered weren't REAL warranties. I am very dissatisfied with my recent experience at Toyota. I needed my Civic detailed and decided I would take it to Toyota because I expected more professionalism and service out of a service department of a large business than I did from a shed with spray painted signs on it. I made the wrong assumption. This is what happened last week: I called on Thursday to confirm prices and to ask how long it should take. I explained that the car was in rough shape and had been the victim of two toddlers. I was told 6 hours. I asked if there was a chance that I should leave it over-night or over the weekend (as I was dropping it off on Friday and I live in Longview and needed to make sure that I didn't need to make arrangements). I was told no, that it wouldn't be a problem. I dropped off my car and received a call about two hours later saying that my car would have to spend the weekend with them drying out the seats. I asked how that was possible, because I was assured it would only take six hours. I told them that that would leave me stranded in Tyler without a vehicle and asked about a loaner car or something to get me home. They offered me a $40/day rental and no apology. I didn't get off work that night until 10, so my girlfriend had to load up the sleeping kids and come make a round trip to Tyler to pick me up. I worked that weekend, so my family was stuck without transportation as we were then down to one car. I was told it would be ready to pick up first thing in the morning on Monday. So, I dropped every one off at school and work on Monday in Longview and headed into Tyler. I asked my Dad if he could take the morning off of work to pick up the other car from Classic and drive it to Longview, as my mother was off work that day and could then drive him back. I called Classic to ask what time the service department opened so that I could have them get the car. They said 9, but that my car wouldn't be ready until after lunch - thus again wasting my time. Again, I asked - how could this be? I was told 6 hours - tops - on Friday and now it has been Friday, Saturday, and Sunday... what else was there!? Apparently my seats were still drying from the shampoo. My Dad had to cancel his whole day waiting on that and they finally called at 2 to say that it was ready. I know that the following are completely my personal problems: me living in Longview, me having to make accommodations for getting my car back and forth from there, and me having to ask family to change their schedules to accommodate my own. My complaint is that I took action to prevent having to do all of that and my efforts were met with apathy and no apologies. I am used to mediocre service and even all of that I would just keep to myself, but the part that really pissed me off is that when my Dad picked up the car - it was still wet. He asked about that and they said it would be fine. Two days later and the car smells like mildew. I am now having to take my car somewhere else to have the seats re-done. That is absolutely ridiculous. I have purchased a Camry from Classic before and was happy with the process (which is my reason for a 2 star, versus a 1 star). I have taken that Camry to the service department twice. Once was when they were building the new service center and so I chalked my horrible experience there up to growing pains on their part and I understand the chaos of a big remodel like that. The second time I struggled to find an excuse for my poor experience and decided not to take my car there anymore for oil changes or servicing. This is the third time I have dealt with the service department there and I am absolutely done with them. I was having the car detailed because we were buying a new one. Because of this experience, I happily took that sale to Jack O'Diamonds where I bought that Civic new and just purchased another vehicle. I thoroughly enjoy my experience at their service center every time and recommend it to a lot of people. I know that the service center and the sales department are two different businesses under the same umbrella, but in this case one is definitely pulling the other down. I went to buy a new 2016 Tacoma. They didn't have the vehicle I wanted but there was one in the region that they were willing to bring in for $1,000 non-refundable deposit. Yes , that's right , one grand, non-refundable. I told them I wasn't paying that. They didn't want my business after that. A few days later I called around and found a dealership that did want my business. Cowboy Toyota in Dallas. They wanted a $500 deposit and it was completely refundable.
