I LOVE THIS PLACE! Everyone is friendly and helpful. The ladies working the front desk are great. They balance checking people in, and wrapping hands effortlessly. The classes are BOMB. Want to drip sweat? Want to feel the burn? Want to feel like a certified badass? Welp, here you go! Mauricio is an amazing instructor and I love that he watches everyone and corrects form so you know you're doing it right, and not going to hurt yourself. My favorite place to get sweaty! Make sure you bring a towel! read more

I love love love Classic Kickboxing! I started coming here as an awkward teen in high school, but had to leave the gym when I moved away for college. Each winter break spent at home was also spent in CK because I loved it that much. Now that I've returned to Pasadena I go here every day, and I'm glad to see that nothing has changed from my very first class. The owner Mauricio teaches most classes, and he is fantastic! Seriously the kindest, funniest, and by far youngest and most handsome gym owner I have ever met. He really takes the time to get to know each person that walks through the door, so it's such a pleasure to come here after a long day of work. Most of the members here are women of all backgrounds, ages, and fitness levels even though this is an INTENSE workout. This is great because it diffuses the intimidation factor that you'd normally find in a gym like this. There is a real community here and I've actually become good friends with the people I see here on a regular basis. I especially appreciate the great music, cool exposed brick and the cleanliness of CK. Despite everyone dripping with sweat from the workout there are no funky smells, and I'm never grossed out by the bags or the mats. As a person who hates working out, the fact that I come here every single day really speaks for its self. The combinations of kicks and punches changes every couple of minutes so you're never doing the same thing for long--this is really great for people like me who get bored easily. Also you feel so tough and bad ass when you take a class. I always walk out wanting someone to try and fight me on the street due to my elevated confidence. Each person can go at their own pace, and as you get in better shape, you attack the bag harder and faster so the workout never gets easier, you just get better. Never again will I go to Equinox, Soul Cycle or Barre! Classic Kickboxing will forever be my workout home! And don't forget to bring a towel or you will get a slap on the wrist from Mauricio (and rightfully so). read more

ClassPass Review - Kickboxing Boot Camp First, Maurico is AMAZING. I love coming on Saturday mornings because every bag is occupied and the energy in the class is contagious. If you go on a weeknight, it's still good, but when I went on a weeknight, there were only 6 or 7 people in the class as opposed to 20+. Nonetheless, Mauricio gives you a variety of combos that WILL get you sweating and increasing your heart rate. No two classes are identical. It's also an awesome way to release some frustration on that punching bag. Parking is available in some of the parking garages nearby or you may have to pay for metered parking if you're signing up for a class during the day. read more

Over a year later and this is the one thing I look forward to every Monday. Best way to start the week with cardio and core work, as well as a kickass soundtrack to rock and roll to. Participates in Class Pass and usually has first time client specials! Check them out. read more

This gym is the best place to get a great workout in while not feeling judged. I've kick boxed at other places, but they were either too slow and not focused on technique, or they were to intense and rude when I had to slow down. Classic is the perfect place to focus on technique, staying safe, and getting your heart rate up. Mauricio is the best! read more

I was stressed from finals and work. I needed a stress reliever ASAP! What an awesome way to do that by punching the living crap out of a bag lol the place was clean and everyone there was really nice. One girl described it as very addicting. By the end of the day I completely understood what she meant. My trainer, Mauricio, was very nice and helpful. He corrected any mistakes I made and made sure I did it right. Once you get the moves down it's really fun and very intense workout. Everyone gets their own punching bag and part of the workout he pairs you up with someone. He plays awesome music too lol I was so high off adrenaline by the end of the day when I arrived home I finally realize that a piece of skin rip off from my toes from all that kickboxing. But who cares! I felt great! So I'm sold! I love kickboxing. It's intense, fun, and you will burn off like 800 calories. I absolutely love it! And first time is free! read more

My first time here and I must say I overly enjoyed myself and the workout. Instructor Mauricio Gonzales was awesome I recommend his class he incorporates boxing, martial arts, strength training and one of the best playlist with current songs that invited you to release stress on the bags. The staff was very helpful and if you come early will help wrap your hands. I took boxing classes for a year and stopped but after today I'm ready to get back to punching and kicking. Enjoy! This is hands down the best work out in Pasadena. The facility is incredibly clean and the owner/coach (Mauricio) is a really good guy. CK offers many classes : kickboxing, Capoeira, muay thai, and other stuff I can't pronounce. Try their kickboxing class and get ready to sweat! Everyone needs a place where you can feel at home. CK is my fitness Cheers. The Giant of Ecuador read more

Best workout EVER! The instructors are really good, they push you to do your best but Are super sweet. The girl at the front desk is extremely helpful and welcoming. I was nervous when I first got there but she convinced me not to be. Can't wait for the next class! read more

Excellent excellent gym!!! From the friendly and helpful front desk staff to the knowledgeable, skilled, and super-fit instructors (shout-out to Pheobe) to the enthusiastic and passionate owner Mauricio. You get Five star service and a five star workout! This gym has purpose and overall just a great feel! The music played during during class is awesome. Lots of song changes that keep your energy levels high without feeling drained. Many full body combos that work all the right muscles. You essentially get your heart rate up, build muscle, gain skill and technique with this fun 60 minute course. It's great! Just show up and you are bound to have a wonderful time. The best part about it is you can go at your pace and do what you feel your body needs. You can push harder or take it a bit easier depending on your needs. I will definitely be coming back for more :) This place is AWESOME!!! read more

This is seriously the best place to get some serious workout, I'm seeing result on my weight loss and of course building some muscles. And I love classes, it keeps you motivated through out the entire class. I take Mauricio's classes and cycling classes almost every weekend. I just works out with my schedule. And also very very clean place to get a good sweat in :-) read more

Great Workout. Nothing beats hitting a bag for an hour to just unleash all the stress and pain on my mind. I kept envisioning the face of my contractor who fucked up my closets as I delivered blistering combos of jabs, crosses, hooks and roundhouse kicks. Besides hitting things, be prepared for some jogging, pushups, squats and ab work. read more

I was having a drink in this part of Old Town when I saw a sign for Classic Kickboxing. I've always wanted to try it, but because it was so close to home, there was no reason for me to look into it. Their website had all the useful info, and I even got some great info when I called with a few more questions. My husband and I did their Saturday morning boot camp class, and it was such an amazing workout! You get so much out of your hour! I can't wait to go back again, when my schedule allows. A must try for anyone looking for an intense workout and some kickboxing basics! read more

I live in Hollywood, and thought, "Well, yeah, I'll just buy a 10 pack of classes and go once a week or something." That lasted like, a week. That class formats are are great because they offer beginner and advanced variations on the combinations used throughout the class. I can't help going about 3x a week because its such a fun way to interval train--which I find hard to do on my own on a treadmill for an hour. The classes are fun, you always leave sweaty, the instructors are all really nice and down to earth, and there's free parking down the street. Plus, you get to punch and kick out all of your aggression while working your core. Goodtimes. read more

First of all, I have to admit that when I miss a class of kickboxing for whatever reason I am immediately in a bad mood. I don't even like working out and this is not working out. Classic Kickboxing provides sports classes in a real kickboxing gym environment. Kickboxing is a sport and it's a tough sport too. If you want a manicured experience this place is not for you. If you want to have the time of your life, see real results and enjoy great trainers who know they're doing, then this is a place for you! P.S. Classic Kickboxing is one of the reasons I do not want to move away from Pasadena. read more

I love this class. Mauricio is amazing and very good at his job. Very hands on. I am addicted ! read more

Love this class. Spinning for half then boxing and conditioning for the rest. Class seems to fly by since you're doing a few different things. Great for beginners and people who live to spin or box. All the instructors are nice, my favorite is Christy who has great music to go with your spinning. read more

I used to train at a different kickboxing studio for 3 years and eventually left because of the vibe. I discovered this place, Classic Kickboxing, and I wish I came here in the first place! Extremely friendly atmosphere for women of all ages and skill levels. I feel like I am working on my self defense as well as working out my body. I saw (and other people saw) results within two weeks! It is a fun total body workout with great music! The studio is extremely clean; we wipe down the punching bag and mats after each class, and there is a cleaning crew that cleans everything. The classes are taught by the owner, Mauricio. He is AWESOME! He is so nice and genuinely cares for the well being of the students. Compared to other kickboxing studios, this place has a lot of women. It doesn't feel like a men's locker room .I feel very comfortable at this gym. I definitely recommend coming here! read more

I love Classic Kickboxing! All the instructors are awesome! I found this gym on Class Pass, and ended up purchasing 6 months of unlimited and it was so worth it. All the instructors are equally awesome in their own way. Phoebe focuses on form and there's definitely a lot of cardio involved. She will always be walking around offering advice/adjustments. Be ready to have your heart racing in her class. She will have you doing drills and it's so much fun! Eddie's class combines both cardio and strength. He will incorporate push ups or squats in between his rounds of high intensity boxing. He'll walk around and challenge you in the most friendly/competitive way possible. I love Sunday mornings with him! Mauricio teaches the most often and his classes are always easy to follow. He keeps the combinations different every drill and it's such a challenging workout. Come here and you will get such an amazing workout! read more

I found Classic Kickboxing by walking around Pasadena. I tried several martial arts/boxing gyms around the area but only Classic Kickboxing had the staff, equipment and professionalism that all gyms should aspire to become. Mauricio and his staff are incredible coaches. They are superb when communicating instructions and ensure safety first. The schedule is flexible with classes for early birds and those who work late. The gym remains open during the weekend with at least a couple of classes per weekend day. Gym is in great shape (looks new) and always clean. It is also very welcoming and professional looking. The classes are varied. The most popular one is Kickboxing Boot-camp and that is exactly what it is. An 1-hour boot-camp where you punch, kick, squat, sit-up and crunch...among other things. It always keeps you on your toes and is extremely entertaining. The gym also offers advanced boxing and advanced kickboxing. I highly recommend Classic Kickboxing. Try their free class and I ensure you'll have the urge to comeback. read more

This was a really great class. Took my first class through class pass last week. The wraps and gloves are free for use the first time. Mauricio, the owner, was helpful and great. He made sure I was cool throughout the workout. The workout is killer, but done with an upbeat playlist. Will definitely come back!!! read more

Top rate classes and really friendly staff! Mauricio makes a really challenging workout fun and approachable for any fitness level. I'm so glad I found this gym! read more

Clean gym. Super friendly instructors and owner. I took a kickboxing class a while back here which worked me hard and it was awesome. I recently did the Classic Bicicletta through ClassPass which was cycling and then boxing with a bag. Worked out my arms and legs. Great work out and a lot of fun. read more

Love this place ! It has a great underground , old school boxing feel with retro vibes. You are moving non stop and the workout is great ! I always end up sweating and my arms and upper back are always sore the next day. Bring your towels for the last part of class bc they like to keep things clean and you will be sweaty . Love coming to these morning classes to start my day off! read more

Uniquely awesome experience. I joined in on a 50 min class for the first time. The class consisted a combination of both cycling and boxing, very interesting concept, which I very much enjoyed. I've been looking for a HIIT routine and I think this is it. Also, the facility was exceptionally clean and odor free! read more

Tried this place for the first time through ClassPass and loved it so much that continue to go. The staff and instructors are great and friendly and helpful. The kickboxing class sure gives you a great work out and helps build strength and energy where you will feel refreshed afterwards. It definitely helped with stress!~ read more

I'm so glad that I found this place. Everything about my experience there has been great. I love the cozy neighborhood vibe, the super friendly staff and teachers, the clean space, the exposed brick, and the attention to detail that the teachers pay to the students. I took my first Pedal & Punch class with Jazz Grant, and i must say that i absolutely loved it! She is an awesome instructor and everyone there was so nice and helpful. The music was fun, and the cycling/boxing was exhilarating. The gym is vintage and has that down to earth hardworking vibe. I will be back !!!!! Such a gem of a find! Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a motivation fitness home. read more

This gym is awesome! Prior to coming to this gym, I've done 1-2 kickboxing classes. After my first class, I couldn't stop coming here! My favorite thing about this class is that everyone has their own bag. Not having to share is a huge plus and the biggest reason why I keep returning to this gym. read more

Love this place! I'm addicted! Love the energy of the teachers. You will definitely get a good workout and have a lot of fun doing it.

My GF and I went to Classic Kickboxing for the first time yesterday and had a great experience. We attended the Classic Kickboxing Bootcamp from 5:30-6:30. Right when we arrived the receptionist helped us out with everything needed to get started. Then the owner and head coach Mauricio made sure to introduce himself, put the hand wraps on our hands and make sure we got a bag. He was very friendly! This was really important to me because I have gone to other gyms where the coaches do not make you feel welcome as a new person. Mauricio kicked our butts the entire hour of the class. We started off with cardio (running, jumping jacks, etc.) then we put on the gloves and began working on the bags. The class is non stop...don't even think about taking a water break! haha Every combination that he had us do was explained many times before we started, which made it easy to replicate. I enjoyed the fact that he was very focused on form as well. We enjoyed it so much that we each bought a 10 pack of classes. They have tons of different types of classes and time frames. We plan on trying the Muay Thai and Boxing Class next! Parking can be tough, but if you park on Raymond and Walnut it's only 2 blocks away and it has 90 minutes free parking. Make sure to bring 2 water bottles and you must bring a towel for the mat. Also, check out their website for more information because it is very informative for first timers! read more

I come here every Saturday with my Dad. Mauricio makes us feel like family. His kickboxing classes are fun, hardcore, and super effective! I learn something new each class! I truly look forward to attending his classes. Highly recommend for any level! read more

I've been training with Pepe Reilly since early 2006; my wife works with Raphael and Mauricio, and we do both private sessions and classes. A wonderful workout space, and the trainers are all attentive and friendly. The classes are worth the price, and for those who are looking to jump-start their exercise routine, Classic Kickboxing offers the chance to build muscle, tone, trim, and transform -- and get rid of some pent-up stress to boot! read more

Mauricio is the best! So sweet and so passionate about his gym. The kickboxing is great and better than other boxing places cause they incorporate kicking which really works your abs! All the teachers bring something different to the class. They recently added a 1/2 bicycle 1/2 boxing class which is great! You get cardio and then also get strength. It's beautiful gym too. Very cool look with brick and natural light which makes you feel like Rocky could have trained here Love to work these classes into my workouts! read more

I was introduced to Raphael one of the Instructors who has quite alot of belts under his! I asked for a private introduction with him before the boot camp kickboxing classes so I could be better aquainted with the right moves. He gave me that and a total body work-out with stretching and step work for balance. I definately will be returning because it was an awesome change to my normal routine. Women will see results immediately in their midriff area. read more

In a class all its own. Mauricio, the owner (and national champion), is almost always at the gym and is contagiously passionate about kickboxing. He's a supportive, energetic, and, most importantly, kind and gentle teacher. Classes are accompanied by awesome music and Mauricio walks around to all the bags, coaching students individually. I cannot stress to women considering kickboxing how excellent this gym is. I've been to a number of boxing gyms that are not female friendly (and just downright gross) but really sharpen your technique...and I've been to some other kickboxing classes that are geared towards women but give you no understanding of form (and often don't even cause you to sweat). Classic is the best of both worlds: it's no-nonsense instruction and a ridiculous, sweaty workout PLUS sensitive, compassionate teachers and students, minus (as long as I'm writing a math equation) misogynistic meatheads. Dudes, don't get me wrong, this is a great place to be no matter your gender, and the place has the added cache of being used as a training gym for a number of famous fighters. I've been training at Classic Kickboxing for the better part of a decade (I can tell you the classes get you in GREAT shape), so I will be honest and say that this review is a bit like recommending family...but how many boxing gyms make a gal feel like family? read more

After doing drop-in classes for almost a year I finally decided to get a membership and I couldn't be happier with my choice =) Classic Kickboxing always provides a great workout and Eddie's class has been become a staple in my weekly workout routine. He is always patient and I love that he walks around and helps students get the best technique and workout possible. I also love his playlist :) I also take Mauricio's class and always feel that it helps me work on my technique while getting a great workout. Plus I've really grown to love his story telling during the cool down. Sometimes I feel like the karate kid getting my weekly zen advice from my very own Mr. Miyagi. And sometimes his stories provide a good laugh, which is a great way to end the class. I also really like Phoebe, the manager. She is always so friendly and willing to answer any questions I have. Mauricio has put together a great team all around at Classic Kickboxing. I highly recommend them. read more

Absolutely outstanding kickboxing gym in so many ways. The instructors are all super nice people and create such a welcoming environment for everybody. I've been attending for a few months now and love the classes; it's the best workout you are going to get anywhere. All the coaches are as knowledgable as it gets (actual world champions and olympians) and the classes are accessible for both total beginners and people with backgrounds in boxing or martial arts. The gym has an awesome old-school 30's or 40's look to it that gives it a great vibe and is much more fun to workout in versus a personality-less equinox or equivalent. Everything is super CLEAN, which you can't say for most gyms of any sort, which is high on my list of reasons why I love this place so much. Students have to wipe down their bags and mats at the end of each class to help keep it clean. Back to the workout - it's awesome. Super high-energy, never boring, and I always look forward to going. Just a few months of kickboxing and I'm seeing better results (cardio and muscularly) than I ever got going to a traditional gym. My wife has done the elite classes, both boxing and muay thai, and if you are looking for more rigorous, technical training, these are the classes for you. Their classic classes are more fitness focused, but I also get a lot out of these from a technical perspective. Proper form and technique is taught in the classic classes, but the emphasis is on a great workout in those. read more

If your serious about getting real professional training, either to compete or get in shape this is the place, best kickboxing technics from basic fundamentals to working your way up to elite, very technical classes and intense training, you get the real professional fighters training here, the instructors are awesome real champion fighters and elite instructors, I came here stressed out and in a deep depression from my divorce and the training here got me over it like you wouldn't believe. Thanks to Mauricio and Phoebe, and Marisa, Eddie and all the wonderful instructors there and staff they've change my life completely. Now I'm a confident individual and inspired by them, will never leave this place will for ever be grateful. Best gym ever! read more

After having visited yesterday with my girlfriend, her idea, I realized how much of a professional the owner Mauricio is. When I say professional, i don't just mean in the business sense, I also mean in the competitive kickboxing sense. Having only trained with him one on one for a couple minutes in intervals (group class) you can tell how well he can get you to be a one tough competitor. Expect to get in shape, focus your mind, AND potentially form a career out of Mauricio "El Jaguar" Gonzalez's excellent bootcamp training read more
