Recently started coming back after a long hiatus. Oh boy, I remember still hating the warmups just as badly 5 years ago! Bit the bullet and purchased a group of 10 classes and am so happy I did! Nothing has changed as far as I can remember. Come early to claim your spot and get set up. If you've forgotten how to wrap your hands, the front desk will help you out. Mauricio is a former national champion, why would you want to train with anybody else? He's a really down to earth guy, he walks around before and after class talking to students. He breaks down the movements for you so if you're not good at listening like me, you'll be able to catch on! Lockers by the front desk, bring your own lock! There's actually a shower inside the women's restroom, that's very rare for Pasadena (IMO); but you should take advantage of it if you need to be on the run! There is parking sort of everywhere! There's metered parking out on the front if you can find a spot. There's a lot across the street that'll come out to almost $10 during your class session. I park in the lot on Green Street and walk over. 90 minutes are free but because I like to get there early, I usually end up paying $2 -__-.

The charge they claim they didn't charge.

Today's experience made me feel humiliated and sad. This is a long review but hear me out. So this is what happened: I had class pass 2 years ago and decided to join their monthly membership, so I told girl in the front desk to sign up for the monthly membership and after pay I will join the class, but she told me go take class now and come back to her after class to pay. So I did what she told me after class. I filled out all the form and give her my credit card like what she instructed me to do. She told me it's all done. So I asked her how do I check in next time? she told me just told us your name is "sum", but that's not my name tho! Then she said she made mistake, she need do it all over again for the membership form and need my card. Then the owner came to her and told her to write down my debit card information because the person who handle their transition work from home. I don't feel comfortable someone just write down my credit card and also seems their system is messy so I worry the future mistake they will create. Then I just decided to pay cash this time to avoid future drama. Then he start to told me just downloaded mind body app check in there! But my account is not even in their system MINDBODY app doesn't work like that ,So I did exactly what he said and downloaded app but it doesn't have monthly membership there! And he start to question me things are not related to the issue try to make me feel bad like : " are you late for class? You supposed to register on our website before you come. " But I came on time. At that point I was concerned about the messy system and felt very uncomfortable. so I told them how about paying cash. So they took my cash, and I asked for receipts, they said because I paid cash , they can't send me a receipt???? I even try to make it easier for them telling them how about just writing me a email says I paid as a receipt then. But the girl don't even know how to send a email??? I asked then how I get receipt just for approve I paid for the coming month fee? He said only credit card then I surrender again , I gave him my credit card let him proceed the process. And he start to be impatient and the girl obviously don't know anything and start to tell me that credit card doesn't go through . While right there I got txt from my credit card said it's charged $149 for the membership. And it confront them right there everything they are saying is not right. The most insane part is then he start to get mad at me about their own mistakes and said something really upset to me like: this is the first day she work ( then front desk) , you are making it difficult to her, she is young " but like what this has to do with what we were trying to fix now? but also it doesn't make any sense when I never even scream or act rude to her , so I asked him What I do make it difficult to her? He couldn't answer . So it is rude to question why my name was wrong in the system? Why she said my credit card didn't go through while it went through with my credit card txt me that I got charged? It is rude to ask if I paid Can I please get a receipt? And why She said I am in the system while I am not? And it is rude to ask what we need to do make it work? Like what?! It doesn't even make sense. Crazy ending part Is that he start to lose his temper told me there are let's of boxing class here, you don't need pick us?????????? I still try to be nice then I told him then can you give me the refund for what her just charged for the next month ?($149 membership she claims she didn't charge it while it's shows in my bank transaction ) and he became crazier and just told me we will refund you bye and slammed the door. This is manner is super unprofessional And aggressive . Who does he think he is? A god? Super confused. They have been in business for long time and I was at least in couple of classes before pandemic on class pass.I never left a single review in yelp until he even told me go write bad review about us yelp. It ruined my entire good day with his type attitude of lack of sympathy and acknowledge, he has some kind of false fantasy He is not providing a service while he think he is your boss. And I hoped they are really refunding me the money.otherwise I have to call my bank. I will never go back and recommend to anyone.

Committing to just one gym is difficult when each person goes through their productive, creative, or hibernation periods. I've wanted a place that made me look forward to going and not finding reasons to skip out. After some time with ClassPass, a 45-day workout challenge and a dozen-full of memorable buddy pass classes later, I finally made a decision I've been happy with since. Basecamp for the win. Love their lower to upper to full body workout schedule, the alternation between cardio and strength, the change/rotation of class layouts, their equipment, and of course, the instructors and team themselves. Special appreciation for the 9am goers because they became a solid community for me when I was going through some post-grad life transitions and turbulence. Somehow, when I was considering what to properly invest in while sacrificing to save money from other things, this was a good alternative investment that has sparked back some love for workout classes again. Well-deserved shout outs to Coaches Nick, Jacqueline, and Oliver and the front desk team. If you're looking for a motivating space, it's a good place for a comeback and a fresh start. Yes, I'm talking to you "New Year, New Me'rs". The time is right around the corner and I promise it's a sweet compliment to the place.

I have never felt more comfortable and empowered in my life: I'm used to coach Ariel, who is amazing, and I dare to venture out to and today had Coach ED IN GLENDALE, when I arrived, I thought maybe I was in an advanced class and Coach Simmy held me accountable to believing in myself that I belonged in that class most importantly that I was capable. I don't know if it's the mission statement. I don't know if it's the core or business objectives of MTK, but the blueprint is clear from their NOHO location to Glendale. WINNERS WIN It takes a lot to impress me. I pay money not only to learn the skill, i you pay for the experience. Worth every penny. And you SWEAT LIKE A MUTHA KICKER! lol

My friend and I came in for our free trial class I'm fairly new to Muay Thai and she's has 5 years…read moreof training under her belt. The gym knew both of these things going in. I understand that pad conditioning is a real and valuable part of Muay Thai training, coaches will hold or hit pads to build a fighter's tolerance to impact, sharpen reflexes, and simulate the unpredictability of a real exchange. That's a legitimate, time-tested method, and I went in expecting and respecting that this sport involves contact. What happened here wasn't that. Within the first 30 seconds of class, during the cardio warm-up jog, before any pad work, drills, or instruction had even started, the instructor came up behind my friend and struck her on the back with a pad, completely unprovoked and with no warning, no context, and no setup that this was a conditioning exercise. She turned around and calmly told him not to hit her like that. His response was to grab his things, walk out, get in his car, and drive off. He never came back. He left a room full of students, including a near-complete beginner with no instructor for the rest of class. Sucker-hitting someone from behind during a warm-up jog isn't conditioning, it's just catching someone off guard, and walking out when she objected isn't discipline, it's a tantrum. Another staff member stepped in and taught the rest of class, and she later texted me offering me a complimentary private training session with her to apologize for such a poor experience. I accepted as I wanted to give her a second chance and take advantage of an opportunity to hone my skills. A few weeks later, when I showed up to the session after confirming with her the day before, I found out she had forgotten about it, and was more than a half an hour away. I felt completely disrespected as I'd left work early, driven over, and reserved time for her to make amends for the gym's previous mistake. It was silly of me to give this establishment a second chance as once again my time was disrespected and wasted by unprofessional behavior. What bothers me most is what an experience like this does to someone's first impression of the sport. Muay Thai should be accessible to everyone as it's a discipline built on technique, respect, and gradual trust between student and coach, not intimidation. Experiences like this that can quietly push people away from a sport before they ever get the chance to actually learn it. That's a real loss, because this sport has so much to offer when it's taught well. I have been encouraging other women, and the LA Muay Thai community at large, especially beginners, to not give this place your time or money.
