Krav Maga is one of those skills you hope you'll never need to use in real life... but if the time comes it will be the thing that ends up saving your ass! At Krav Maga Unleashed you'll learn self-defense techniques to get you home safely, while getting a great workout in a fun and safe learning environment. Long review ahead... TL;DR - Try a Krav Maga Beginners class with a ton of friendly people in a super clean gym run by amazing people. You'll get a great workout without even realizing it because you're too busy learning how to NOT die on the street. Cardio (bag) & Striking (Thai pads) classes will give you an intense workout if you're like me and looking to burn off all the cookies & pints of ice cream you ate for lunch. ------ FIRST TIME / WHAT TO EXPECT: Check in at the front desk and sign some paperwork, then take off your shoes & hit the mat. Krav Maga Beginners class will start with a basic warm-up (~10mins). Then the instructor will demonstrate a technique or drill (broken down step-by-step). You'll grab a partner so you can practice the techniques yourself (usually you're not allowed to partner with another first-timer, so you'll make a new friend who knows what they're doing and can help you one-on-one). The instructor will walk around to make helpful corrections & answer your questions. Throughout class, instructors will explain the contexts in which these techniques are helpful, so you'll know when and how to apply them. Take water/bathroom breaks whenever you want. Due to COVID, everyone will be training with your face mask on. Your first class can be a little intimidating - but everyone else is there to learn & help each other out. If you feel confused at any point in class, know that you're not alone (I've been training for a few years and still have a billion questions and feel like I don't know what I'm doing half the time!). Don't be afraid to ask questions or ask for feedback. CLASSES - You'll learn practical self-defense techniques for real-life situations. There are a variety of classes that focus on specific areas (self-defense, cardio/bag work, street fighting, striking techniques, weapons, etc.). All of the instructors are very experienced and friendly. COMMUNITY - Pietro (Owner/Head Instructor) & his wife, Georgia, have gone out of their way to make the gym a really special place. They are creating an amazing gym culture and training environment that is fun to learn in. Everyone is super welcoming and encouraging (no egos here), and you'll definitely make a lot of new friends. Pietro has some scary RBF, but he's actually a really nice guy who cares about all of the members. FACILITIES - Cleanest gym I've ever been to! They have fully-stocked showers, brand new equipment, medical-grade filters in the air system, free filtered water refill stations, a vending machine, cubbies for your bags, and Pinterest-worthy bathrooms. Free street parking + a few garage spots. MOBILE APP - The app is super user-friendly so you can book classes or watch instructional videos to help you study the techniques that we go over in class. COVID SAFETY - Everyone wears masks while training, but if you're not comfortable with hands-on self-defense yet, you can take cardio bag or striking classes which are contact-free. Lots of hand sanitizing stations & wipes. Members thoroughly disinfect equipment and mat between classes.

Hi- where is the best place to park? I came for a 0700 class and parked a few blocks away but was wondering if there is anything closer or like a structure?

You can park your car on the same building or across street from the gym .

I am looking into signing up for classes at this location, but I do not understand the different packages that are offered. What do each of the package options entail? And are these packages for monthly memberships?

Hi Johanna! Thanks for reaching out. We have 3 membership tiers. Unleashed Bronze gets members unlimited access to our cardio classes, Unleashed Silver gets members unlimited access to all classes (cardio, Krav Maga, fight), and Unleashed Gold… Read more

Coach Marco and his team really know how to teach and empower kids. Not only do the kids learn jiujitsu and other martial arts, they also learn life lessons. Marco has been a life coach for my son. Teaching him about humanity, friendships, bullying and respect. And it's super clean which I appreciate. If you are searching for a jiujitsu experience with both quality instructions and amazing instructors that care for your children, then check it out. I've learned how to properly execute gentle, yet firm, parenting, just by watching Marco in action. I also want to add that Marco and his team are heroes. During the Eaton Fire, they were helping displaced kids, housing them at the gym, and subsidizing dozens of kids' jiujitsu membership because of their loss. Kindness at its finest. A++++++

It's clean, well-maintained, and family-friendly. Parking is easy to find, and the pricing structure for classes is affordable and reasonable. What has exceeded our expectations is the excellent staff, instruction, and care. Our daughter loves Sensei Anto and Sensei Aram, and has made friends in her classes. She looks forward to class and practicing at home. She recently passed her test for yellow belt and the experience provided her with such pride, joy, and a determination to continue and excel. Like most kids, there are moments where she doesn't want to participate or acts up; Sensei Anto manages his kid classes well. He knows when the kids need a run-around break, and when behaviors need to be addressed. He balances fun with technique, pays attention to kids who need extra guidance, empowers more advanced kids to help out lower levels, and generously gives praise when deserved. We're so happy with this fantastic school and look forward to continuing our daughter's martial arts education here.

The coaches emphasize being good teammates while honing your own skills. They know they are growing people, not just practice. My daughter benefits for too many unfortunately obvious reasons, and my son has a safe and fun way to channel his natural desire to battle and test himself physically, emotionally, and mentally in a safe and fun way. After the fire, the studio rallied in huge ways to help those of us who lost our homes, leveraging their extended family relationships with other studios throughout the state and beyond. They were the first business to reopen in the burn scar because they knew how much we all needed to grasp onto a semblance of normalcy in a very abnormal and traumatic time. I will never forget the first time I drove into the area at night to pick up my kids. Driving past the ghostly remains and rubble that was once our town, in abject darkness, no streetlights, was such a shock that I could not help but bawl as I drove through... then in the distance, the lights of 10th Planet Pasadena lit up the way like a beacon of light. As I drove into the lot, I could see the kids being kids like they were before. It made me remember that with community, nothing is lost forever. I've been a long time member of Corepower so I've had my fair share of hot yoga, and it makes me appreciate the way that hot 8 operates - they have multiple types of classes - I tried Strength, Yin, Sculpt, and they're all fantastic. The membership feels so worth it because of the variety of classes and the multiple rooms/times available. I will definitely be returning. Shout out to the front desk staff - they helped me solve issues with my booking process (my fault) and were so kind/patient when exposing the different classes to me. Oh and shoutout to Allison Chiang - the Strength instructor. She brought the energy and spent time on form correction. So key! Finally - there's free parking with validation in the building! My favorite class at the moment is Yin, which is a restorative deep fascia release class. (I've had some injuries unrelated to yoga, so I need something more restorative.) Prior to my injury I was taking the Barre classes for 5 to 7 days a week and it changed my life for the best. I am very much looking forward to taking the new Strength classes once I'm feeling up for it. I recommend Mia and Damara for Barre. I recommend Jaz, Shanai (who is also an excellent barre teacher too), and Rachel for Yin. Jaz teaches extra special Yin class with tennis balls that help students stretch into their fascia even more deeply, and is better than any massage I've ever had! With my injury, I'm not sure that I would have continued with my annual executive membership if Jaz were not teaching Yin. Her classes have been a godsend. Even when I'm healed I will continue taking her classes! All the teachers are quite good; I just have my favorites based on personality and instruction style. You are sure to find someone who will exceed your needs! The three reasons that I decided not to give the studio five stars are: 1. they've been running out of the towels that I get with my particular membership. 2. there are some rude students who interrupt important times of instruction, especially the Shavasana, which is critical to closing out a successful yoga practice. 3. The showers can sometimes be a little slimy, which is pretty gross. This was not the case when I first started taking classes almost 2 years ago.
