This should have been a momentous experience. Unfortunately my experience was tempered by a ventilation issues and an odor that persisted the whole stay. On top of the fact that the shower area and bathroom floor grout was severely in need of elevated maintenance. This could be overlooked if we had booked with a lower price point establishment. But for the money it did not meet its claim to be "design forward and intentionally serene" which is what you are looking for when you are celebrating an anniversary. I want to say I'd stay here again but right now as I said in the outset really torn.

The room was cute, the decor on the premises with all the plants was lovely, and everyone on the site was very friendly. The place also offered live music, which we enjoyed with a couple of cocktails from the bar at the hotel. The only slight downside is the tiny pool and the pool area, but we still enjoyed our stay overall. We would definitely stay there again next time we are in Austin.

We also dined at Nido, the hotel's restaurant, for both dinner and breakfast, and it was definitely a highlight. Located on the topmost floor, Nido offers stunning views of the river and downtown Austin. With both indoor and outdoor seating, the ambiance is elegant and ideal for a special evening. During our visit, we saw a couple of groups celebrating birthdays and wedding anniversaries, which shows how perfect this place is for special occasions. The pricing is on the higher side, but it matches the upscale experience and beautiful setting. For dinner, we ordered the Burrata as an appetizer and the Autumn Garden for the main course, along with an American IPA and a Jack Frost cocktail. Everything was delicious, but the Burrata truly stood out as my favorite. Breakfast was equally enjoyable--we had custom-made omelettes with veggies and avocado toast, both fresh and flavorful. Overall, The Loren Hotel, along with Nido, offers a great blend of comfort, excellent food, and a beautiful atmosphere. A perfect choice if you're looking to celebrate something special or simply treat yourself to a high-end experience.

Location, comfortable bed, good shower, clean, the room gets nice and cold, etc. We stayed in a budget hotel the first night in Austin, and while it got the job done, the upgrade here was very apparent from the moment we walked in. Two possible flags against the hotel were prevented on my end. 1) When I am driving to a destination, I bring my pillows from home. Why risk bad hotel pillows when you can just throw yours in a large duffel? I'm glad I did this because the pillows didn't look great, but maybe I'm just picky about pillows. 2) Parking is $60/night. I found parking that was $30 total for two nights, two blocks away. Easy decision to save $90. Download SpotHero if you don't already have it. It's amazing. Bonus: despite not parking on-site, the valet guys were great about letting us park temporarily to load and unload. It was really easy and there was space for it. This will definitely be my go-to Austin hotel, moving forward.

The bathroom was also spacious and nice with good shower products. One thing I will say is that the air conditioning is VERY loud. I shared a bed with my friend that wasn't directly in front of it, but our other friend in the "tundra" was pretty uncomfortable during the night because it was both cold and loud. Other than that, I enjoyed this hotel. They are so kind to give you free water every time you walk in, which is great!

We had a clean and tidy suite on the first level. Two double beds were comfy and plenty of towels. Our first night's stay was decent. Surprised to know they seem to use softened water because it made our skin feel slippery. I noticed the shower gel holder was falling out of the wall. A precarious situation of having to carefully pull the mechanism to dispense without pulling too hard. I did notify the night staff but the next day, it didn't seem like anyone came to fix it. No extra body wash or soap was provided even when I asked for some. The wall sockets with the en-suite appliances was not usable. The electrical outlets weren't working so we couldn't toast anything, use the kettle, or the coffee machine. Couldn't find one with a GFCI breaker to reset that side so gave up. Interestingly, the full-sized fridge and microwave were working ok though. The rod for one of the window curtains fell off while opening them. Because it's floor to ceiling we just left it alone. The common spaces around the property are well decorated, from the Library, Executive board room, kids corner, gym/yoga studio, and outdoor lounge space. Although, the snack/tea/coffee station with Keurig isn't filled maintained often. We had to ask the night staff to refill the water for tea and the lobby water dispenser was constantly low as well. On our second to last day, I found the hot water and still water station downstairs at Simona's. Pros: Clean, comfy, affordable stay. Enjoyed the bottomless drip coffee $5 and their signature Breakfast at Tiffany's latte. Also appreciated them letting us do late checkout and upgrade our room. Cons: Complimentary water station, Keurig / snack station, overall maintenance of room amenities could be handled better. Warning: If booking from 3rd party (BILT, Capital One Portal...) the added parking is not the same price that's on Colton's House's website. It's actually $40/day (with in/out privileges). However if booking directly through Colton House for stays, parking is 50% off at $20. Would we stay here again in the future? Most likely not. For an SLH property, we may look for another better-maintained option in the future.
