I was told it needed the bands to be adjusted, which they said they made an adjustment. Funny thing, the transmission cannot be adjusted physically. It's 100% electronically controlled. To adjust, the TCU needs to be programmed! The appointment was made weeks in advance. Dropped of the car asking for an estimate for what needs to be done. I hadn't heard from them for over a week. After changing jobs to a place far away from where I used to work I knew I'd have to find a local-ish place for the routine car work I'd end up needing since I drive so much. I originally called them for a tire replacement and they didn't have one in. Being that I needed it quickly as the sidewall had blown out I went to a different place with one in stock. They were nonetheless very friendly with me and asked that I keep hem in mind for the future. Well I kept them in mind and I've been twice now for oil changes and tire rotations. They also add air as needed to make sure your tires are inflated appropriately. At my last visit they checked my brakes out and said they might need replacing in about 5-7,000 miles. They weren't in a hurry just to sell me some brakes and take my money and were absolutely polite and humble when I said I'd be sure to give them a call when it was time for the oil change and brake overhaul. Both times I came in they seemed a bit worried that they wouldn't have the time to fit me in. But honestly every time I drop by they're dead empty and I almost worry that they don't have enough work to keep them open. They still have always been happy to work me in even when they're "busy". Of course for brakes I will have to call in advance. PS: They are practically run by a husband and wife duo team. The wife does all the book keeping and handles the phone calls and inquiries. She seems to really have her head about her with the business. The husband does the heavy lifting along with help from at least one other guy. He really seems to know his stuff and speaks with authority about car maintenance. If you want a good, honest explanation about the problems you're having the two of them are an unbeatable pair. With 40 years in the business why would anyone be surprised?

Chris and team met the challenge head-on with total honest and transparency. He told me "worse case scenario" what it would cost me to get fixed. To any other shop, this is a "blank check." Instead, Chris and team fixed only what was needed. An expensive repair just became "affordable." On another occasion I brought the same truck in for a steering issue. I brought it in for a "second opinion" of a very well known shop down the street. Chris and team not only fixed the issue at less than half the cost of the other shop, but showed me and explained why the other issues "the other guys" said was needed was bogus. Chris is a very honest and reputable businessman. He supports his community with outstanding service and a respected opinion of the business community. I was at 5600 and it was gnawing at me. So I called this place from my hotel room and he gave me the price over the phone and also gave me a free car wash. The price over the phone wasn't fantastic, it was mid to high range. My synthetic changes are usually around $80. The truck takes 6.5 quarts so it is always a few dollars higher than their advertised synthetic change rate. But I did also desperately need to get the salt and sand off of my car from the blizzard I had driven through the night before, so the $10 savings on the car wash for me made the deal a little sweeter. Also, his demeanor over the phone convinced me that this was the place I would trust with my FJ Cruiser, Sanchez. Yes, I named my truck. That's how much I love it and CARE about who touches it. While sitting in the waiting room I spoke with a few other customers who were in there. These were long term customers...they had been going to this guy for years. They all loved him and trusted him. Even a couple of Bostonian transplants, who are generally distrusting, couldn't say enough nice things. The owner also came in and spoke with me directly about my car taking a quart and a half more of the synthetic. Which I knew but had forgotten. Everything about the place made me feel like they were handling my truck properly. I can't tell you how different it was from some of the others where I literally stand and watch to make sure they're putting in synthetic and not just charging me for it while dumping in regular oil. Anyway, they got me right in. No pressure to sell me anything extra (I knew I didn't need it, but these places always seem to push anyway). They got me in and out quickly, charged me $80 and I was on my way with clean oil and a clean exterior and vacuumed interior. It made the last 500 that much less tedious.
