Tuesday, after a week of broken promises by my former mechanic to repair one blown spark plug in my 2004 Chevy Silverado work truck, I had AAA Carolinas transport it to Henn Automotive at 2:15 pm with a commitment to have the repair done no later than Monday. This morning at 8:20 am Wednesday, I received a call from Alex, Service Manager, saying the repair was done and to come and pick it up. Been a customer for years however over the last year something has apparently changed. Servicing both everyday vehicles and my classics Henn has increasingly continued "a song and dance" with respect to repairs. Shop Manager ( Tim) will fabricate a story thinking the vehicle owner has no mechanical aptitude. Example - I did not authorize repair on a classic vehicle because the story appeared to far fetched. When the vehicle returned home it was disassembled and missing several components. When asked Tim indicated that they left it unassembled so when I was ready for the repair it would be easy to repair .... really ? 2nd example. I wished used parts to be returned to me - oddly at day of pick -up the parts they provided were not from my car. All I will add is you trust your vehicle to people. Dishonest. I came here recently to get my car inspected and was told it failed because the ball joints were worn and tie rods were bad. So, I took it to another place and found that neither were bad, except for a steering column mechanism. Apparently this COULD cause other parts to feel loose. However, when my car was inspected at another shop, the ball joints and tie rods were NOT loose. In the end, I got the steering column fixed for half the price of Henn's allegedly discovered issues. It is very clear to me that I would have not only been out nearly $1000 for repairs not needed, but ALSO the fee of the actual repair that WAS required as well. I found it specifically ironic that a place that does inspections just happens to also do the repairs..... Unbelievable. Avoid this place unless you have cash to waste. read more

I brought my car to Henn automotive on 12/9/2020 because my front brakes were acting funny. I dropped my car off and received a call from Tim, the head mechanic saying that my car needed $1100 just in parts, not including labor. After telling him that I could not afford that he advised me strongly that I should NOT drive my car even out of the parking lot. He advised me to get a tow home. As much as I respect the care for my safety, I drove my car 150 miles home straight to my usual mechanic. My mechanic said that there were two things wrong with my car, and after a $130 parts order from O'Rileys and a labor charge of $150 my car was fine. I would not recommend ANYONE to get their car serviced by Tim, or anyone at Henn Automotive. read more

Terrible communication / customer service. Took days longer than they originally said. Never called with an update, I had to always call them to find out what's going on. Once they finally started working on it, they never called to say what the problem was or how much it was going to cost. Just stuck me with a bill much larger than I was expecting when I went to pick it up. Definitely would not use them again. read more

Thanks to some construction across the street from our home, I got a nail in one of my brand new tires. Being a carpool mom I was quite panicked about the timeliness of the repair, but Henn Automotive not only squeezed me in, but had me in and out the door in less than 15 minutes (and cost was very reasonable)! Can't leave no stars so had to give it 1 star. Recently, I took a vehicle to Henn's for repair & when I went to pick it up on Friday 3/16/18, one of their employees backed a customer's pickup truck into the car I was driving. What should have been a simple process of filing an insurance claim to repair a fender bender has turned into a nightmare largely due to the false statements & lack of cooperation by the owners Susan and Mike Henn. When the accident occurred, we were told the Henn's were on vacation & couldn't be bothered to talk to us until they returned. We told the employee & the police officer that we weren't leaving without their insurance information & they then provided it. We filed a claim that day & followed up with the insurance company on Monday. We were told at that the Henn's had not responded to their insurance company's attempts to contact them & until they spoke with them they couldn't proceed. My wife called Henn's to ask them to contact their insurance company so we could get our car repairs underway. My wife's phone was on speaker & I heard the entire conversation. She asked to speak with Mike Henn & was told he was with a customer so Susan Henn took the call. Susan was immediately hostile & began yelling that she had just gotten off the phone with her insurance company. When my wife explained that she too had just gotten off the phone with the Henn's insurance company Susan said that the insurance information they provided the police officer was not the correct insurance & she refused to provide their actual insurance details. After telling her we would inform the police that they had provided false information on a police report, Susan finally relented & gave the name of another insurance company but refused to give a policy number. After many more threats to inform the police of their false statement, she finally gave a policy number that ultimately also proved to be false. Throughout the call, she was verbally abusive to my wife & when my wife asked to speak with Mike Henn, Susan said he wasn't there though we'd already been told that he was with a customer. We caught her in many more lies and inconsistencies throughout the conversation. She finally gave us contact information for her insurance agent. When we called the agent we were informed that the insurance policy number Susan had just provided was also false. The agent gave us the correct policy number, so we contacted that company & they informed us that they don't provide the Henn's with that type of accident liability insurance. We went back to the original insurance company who told us that since the Henn's reported they had another policy that covered the accident, they wouldn't proceed unless the Henn's provided them with evidence that the second policy doesn't cover it & the Henn's hadn't provided that evidence. So we had to go back to the second insurance company & ask them to provide that information directly. The original insurance company also let us know that the owner of the pickup truck had not been informed that his car was involved in an accident. (Since there was no damage to his car, the police officer didn't notify him & the Henn's apparently didn't either.) The Henn's refused to provide the pickup owner's contact information to their insurance company so they could work out the claim with his insurance. We had to go back to the police officer & ask him to run the plate on the pickup truck & revise the report so that we could obtain his insurance information & begin the claims process with that company since the Henn's insurance company wouldn't proceed without the pickup owner's insurance company. We're still waiting a resolution. When my wife told Susan Henn that we've been loyal customers since they opened & all we did was bring them our business & come to pick up our car & we'd just like to get our car fixed, Susan Henn responded "I don't care lady!" I think that sums it up entirely. read more

Clueless, rude and full of excuses. "Fixed" a serious issue with tire, a broken front axle and control arm without even opening the hood. Inspected. passed and let me go home with broken shocks. They had my car for 3 weeks and when I returned two days AFTER picking it up for the shocks, they couldn't tell me when it would be fixed. I could get into the long winded, heated, insulting conversations with both Tim and the owner but there is no need. When I agreed to go pay in advance for the second repair, they said they would do it in a day I said that's great but I'll never bring my business here again. Which they proceeded to say they work on repeat business and refused to then fix my car the second time. What this came down to was me calling and asking if I would need to rent a car. There is certainly alot more to this story but in the end they are hacks. Here is a quote from the owner "insurance adjusters are flipping burgers one day and estimating car damage the next they know nothing. - and a minute later "Why would we look under the hood when the adjuster didn't tell us to" Oh and I brought my car in TWICE for a banging noise in the front for them to tell me it was nothing. Usually I have my classic car worked on at Vintage Auto in Fort Mill. Recently I have been unable to get in there without a 2-3 month wait. Henn took my car right in. The shop manager Bobby is very friendly and made me comfortable. The mechanic, Brooks, who worked on my car, is extremely skilled and knowledgeable. They evaluated my car, made suggestions, gave me the pricing, then completed the work in a timely fashion. The car runs better than ever, and was returned to me clean. There was no evidence that a mechanic had even worked on it, other than the new parts. My only concern was that the labor rate and parts were a bit pricey. Much more expensive than Vintage Auto. But, you get what you pay for. I have now used them twice for work on classic cars and they did a great job on both occasions. read more

Uncoordinated mixed with dishonest. Horrible combo....if I could leave negative 5 stars I would. Let's start with uncoordinated. Brake light on dash (Chevy truck) came on last Thurs evening, and based on reviews on Henn's website, decided to give them a call. Friday 9AM called to see if they have any availability to get me in and look at truck on same day. Front desk lady puts me on hold, asks the man behind the curtain, comes back on the line to say "yep, bring it in now and we'll get to it today." Good start....so far. I get to Henn by 9:15, speak briefly with front desk, give them the keys, go on my merry way. At 3:30PM, have not received word from Henn. Call them back, informed "he's on the road with it now, we'll call you back shortly." By 6:30PM (now 1/2 hour after closing time), pretty convinced I'm not getting a return call. Closed on Sat/Sun. Yep, now I'm Uber'ing all over God's creation for an additional 2 days. Awesome...... Monday 7:33AM (because they open at 7:30), call to see if I can get update, speak to front desk, they put some guy (name?) on the phone who is clearly annoyed that I'm calling and proceeds to tell me that they only opened up 3 minutes ago, that he has no update on parts and he has no idea when it will be finished. My response....what parts? What is wrong, broken, inoperable, I've received zero calls from Henn since I dropped my vehicle off 3 days ago and that I'm having to chase THEM for an update. Confusion ensues...some shuffling of papers, clearing of throat....there's some mix up. Supposedly, I have the EXACT same vehicle as someone else there with the EXACT same issue. What are the incalculable odds....I should have played the lottery on Sat night right?! Promised that they would get to MY vehicle today. Now on to dishonest. Receive call later that day, am told my brakes are royally screwed and they need: new master cylinder, new booster (because it's filled with fluid), rear wheel cylinders are leaking fluid and need new rear brake shoes. While I'm no mechanic, this seems odd as I JUST had my truck at Hendrick Chevy (like earlier that week) for general maintenance (oil change, tire rotation, 32 point inspection that a trained monkey could do, and specifically asked them to take a look at the brakes while they had the wheels off, etc.). Not a peep from Hendrick about my brakes being royally screwed, or any leaking fluid, but that my rear shoes would need to be replaced soon. Some little, internal voice says oh so quietly in my ear.....get a second opinion. So, I proceed to thank Henn, pay a $90 "diagnostic fee" and drive away. Oh...the quote to fix all my fatal issues was just shy of $1,800. Again, because I'm no mechanic, I ask a few friends and find a friend of a friend that is a retired, certified mechanic, does some work on the side because Social Security "just ain't enough", has been in Charlotte (actually Monroe) his entire life and agrees to take a look at my "situation." Low and behold, there is a small issue, need new master cylinder, the booster is perfectly fine (and no.....it's NOT filled with fluid), the rear wheel cylinders ARE NOT leaking at all and were described as "dry as a bone", but suggests that the rear shoes be replaced because they are about at the end of their useful life. Cost is ~ 1/3 of what Henn said and, more importantly, he didn't try to screw me out of replacing perfectly good, working parts. There was the slight grin and a chuckle and the warning of "yeh, Henn will stick it to you. Good thing you got out of there and are only out the $90. I would stay FAR away." So....for all those non-mechanics out there, be forewarned. Henn is both uncoordinated and dishonest. If you want to be lied to, have parts replaced that are working great, and pay more than is needed, by all means make the trek to Waxhaw and 'drop it off.' Just remember to 'buckle up' once they finally do call you back because you are about to be 'taken for a ride!' read more

I had a very good experience at Henn Automotive. After having my car towed to Henn (running on 3 of 4 cylinders), the car was hooked up to a diagnostic and the problem was quickly isolated. The mechanic came and explained what the problem was, what it would take to fix it, how much that would cost, and how long it would take. He also told me of other options (external to Henn) that could cost me less. I agreed to have Henn do the work. The car was delivered on price, on time, as promised. No complaints. read more

Wanted to update you on Henn Automotive and the service I have gotten since my earlier review. Mike and his staff are awesome. They have come through again for me. They have fixed an alignment that the technicians at another Waxhaw business could not get right that basically ruined a tire and now they are fixing a break job that I had done in Fort Mill that looks like a 5 year old installed the parts. Mike and his staff are courteous, quick, honest and affordable. From now on I will just go straight to Henn Automotive and get Mike and his staff to do what I need done. read more

I took my car in because my radio/ Ac wasn't working. After two days I did not receive a call so I contacted them. They gave me a very vague answer on what was wrong and told me the repair was going to be $650. It sounded suspicious so I decided to pick up my car and not let them "fix it". When I took it to the Firestone Auto Care in ballantyne they told me that no fix was necessary all the problem was due to a sticky ignition. Do not take your car here without a second opinion. Unfortunately, I just experienced some surprising car trouble(on a Friday at 5pm!) and went right to Henn.
