This time around, there were a couple concerns keeping me from giving 5 stars. They weren't as communicative as I'd have liked. I was rear ended but when I get the final invoice, they replaced the transmission. How the heck does that happen and no one reaches out to let me know of this important development? Also, the transmission is only warrantied for two years. That's really unfortunate for the victim to now have a warranty not lasting as long as the original new car coverage. I only had 300 miles on the car and instead of 4 year/50,000, I now have 2 year/unlimited mileage. Unless I can drive 50k in 2 years, it's a step down in overall warranty coverage. Again, they do a great job delivering you a final product that's worthy of praise and I will be back if the need arises. I just hope they'll adjust to provide more communication throughout and perhaps offer a better warranty for the very important items your car needs to work. Even if that's an up charge, insurance would have to match what coverage I had prior to being hit. Without that being an option, insurance gets off easier.

However...I received a text from service advisor Darrell two days later asking for the key to unlock my Tonneau cover (that I forgot to unlock), so they could replace my rear tail light assembly. Had I brought the key in Wednesday afternoon (only two days later), my truck would have been ready then, even though there was an ample amount of vehicles that they were working on already. Instead, I attempted to drop the key early the next morning, when Darrel told me if I wanted to wait twenty minutes, they would replace the tail light, right then and there, which they did! When Darrell was handing me the keys, I was ready to ask him to stand behind the truck to make sure the left brake, tail light and blinker were working, but before I could, he did me one better and sat in the truck and let me see with my own eyes that both the left AND right sides were both working, even though the right side was not involved in the collision! Darrell then said I could leave the car rental in their lot, drive my car home, and he would notify Enterprise to pick up the car for me. When I first dropped off my vehicle and it came time to sign the paperwork, Courtney, the office receptionist, pointed out and explained all of the places I needed to initial/sign. Obviously, I hope I never need the services of an auto body shop ever again, but because of the pleasant and successful business-like treatment I received from both Courtney and Darrell, from drop-off to sign-off, I will certainly go out of my way to let the Hillsboro, Oregon Caliber location perform the work.

I also recently realized they take the time to report servicing and repairs to CARFAX ; something the dealership won't do which will affect my resale value ! I began taking my 2015 Volvo here for oil changes rather than the dealer and found them to be faster and about half the cost (I have a computerized system the usual quick oil change places can't do, not even top offs). I also asked them to make repairs I was quoted by dealership, again faster with full explanations and about 2/3 price. Nearly a year later, when I needed regular service, they got me in quickly and not only did the job well, but said they looked at the previous repair they did and didn't like how it was wearing and REPLACED FOR FREE! I truly would have never known . Honesty almost unheard of these days! Finally, my starter went out and they were like calling family... reassured me and fit me in as an emergency appointment. When a strange warning light came on soon after they helped diagnose, covered appropriate guaranteed portion and charged a fair price for the other issue (I needed an auxiliary battery also). Bottom line is mechanics are like doctors and diagnosing/repairs are both a science and art... not always clear cut and depend on the experience, ability to listen, care and trustworthiness of the "doc". I love taking my car to Canyon Auto because I know they will work with me to figure out the issue, repair with quality parts, and stand behind those repairs with amazing integrity, and always with a smile even when they're run ragged. They did a decent job, but I believe I got charged for stuff that…read morewas unnecessary, e.g., removal of headlights that weren't connected to anything they were working on. I actually had them remove the charge for one of my headlights. But, I gave them the benefit of the doubt and assumed ignorance on their part and the possibility that they removed at least one of the headlights because "that's what the computer said to do". You know how that works? These independent non-specific-vehicle-certified shops get these computers that tell them exactly what to do so the techs don't have to do a lot of thinking? It sometimes compresses the time they work on your car, but it could cost the consumer extra stuff that you wouldn't otherwise had to do even if it's quicker. Of course no one is as quick on working on your car as a technician/mechanic who works on the make and model of your car all the time. Then there was the overspray on surrounding areas of where the work was being done which I had corrected later on. They also employed the worst cleanup job I've experienced from over 8 autobody shops I've had various cars worked on over the years; it was dust material inside my car and all over the other parts of the body that weren't worked on. They couldn't even just wash it down. There was more from the vent when I turned on the AC. But, their labor rates were downright cheap compared to many for this type of non-dealership-type work. So, if you're just into cheap labor and don't care about getting nickel and dimed on other stuff you don't really know about because you don't really know much about cars, then by all means this is probably not too bad of a place. Either way, I don't really trust independent auto repair shops that also sell used cars on the same lot. There's always something shady in those places. Also, if you live in the Tigard area and looking for someplace close by to get DEQ tested....DO NOT GET YOUR DEQ TESTING HERE! Let me remind you of the cost for DEQ testing: -DEQ Centers = $25 DEQ fee + vehicle registration fee -Canyon Auto Repair in Tigard = $90 + $25 DEQ fee + vehicle registration fee. If your check engine light comes on while you're there and you want these guys to just do some troubleshooting they're going to charge you for that. And, if you're sucker enough that you also want them to repair said problem they probably created to generate business then it's going to cost you even more.

What would be worse than not able to find a body shop to support after a collision?…read more We have a mild/medium collision that damaged both fender and bumper near the driver seat. The key problem bugging us is the driver door wouldn't open enough to get in. I am in desperate to look for an autobody to help me look into it so I can drive. Called 7-8 body shop, none of them can even schedule estimate 6-12 weeks out!! How crazy is that huh? Then I found Peter's Quality Autobody, he asked me to bring the car in the same day. He gave me an estimate in a reasonable range. In one week, I have the car fully fixed and run like a charm. Communication with Peter is simple and straight forwards.
