They do a great job making your car look like nothing ever happened. I've been here a few times over the years and things always turn out like the car is brand new. This time around, there were a couple concerns keeping me from giving 5 stars. They weren't as communicative as I'd have liked. I was rear ended but when I get the final invoice, they replaced the transmission. How the heck does that happen and no one reaches out to let me know of this important development? Also, the transmission is only warrantied for two years. That's really unfortunate for the victim to now have a warranty not lasting as long as the original new car coverage. I only had 300 miles on the car and instead of 4 year/50,000, I now have 2 year/unlimited mileage. Unless I can drive 50k in 2 years, it's a step down in overall warranty coverage. Again, they do a great job delivering you a final product that's worthy of praise and I will be back if the need arises. I just hope they'll adjust to provide more communication throughout and perhaps offer a better warranty for the very important items your car needs to work. Even if that's an up charge, insurance would have to match what coverage I had prior to being hit. Without that being an option, insurance gets off easier. read more

The General Manager did a good job of "fixing" my concerns with the POOR customer service recieved by phone with the Shop (Forman? Supervisor?) and then MORE bad customer attitude by not one but the TWO women at the counter in the drive thru bay. Since I got such BAD attitude / poor answers from the call with the Shop manager...I had to invest MORE time by driving there, waiting 30+ minutes AFTER being rudely addressed by BOTH Service Bay women. Again...the GM spent good time with me, did help alleviate some of my concerns BUT by then (based on the other poor team members), kinda late. All the more painful since I'm a lifelong BMW owner, multiple models, and even the past volunteer President (8 years) of the BMW Club of Oregon. My car was repaired at Kuni about 6 years ago, not the best job (as they couldn't find some of the original parts to replace) but it was satisfactory and acceptable at the time. Fast forward to today (early 2023), I find that a taillight is broken. No big deal. I took the car to my local oil change place for the bulb replacement, but they told me that they cannot get to the bulb because the housing is attached with some sort of a bizarre pin. They showed it to me, and indeed it didn't look original and it was not reachable by their tools. I took it to Kuni as they were the ones who did the original job which replaced the relevant parts. Not only they denied they were the ones who didn't attach the housing correctly, they gave me an estimate of over $950 to remove this "broken bolt." They claimed Jiffy Lube must've broken it, when they tried to replace the bulb. That is simply not the case, as I was watching over at the Jiffy Lube technician. No one ever even touched those parts of the car since Kuni worked on them, back when it was repaired in their shop. Turns out it wasn't even a bolt. I removed it myself after some struggle, which turned out to be some sort of a plastic pin. And I can't re-attach it securely, because there is no thread in the backing plate to even hold a bolt. I suppose that's why they must've put this plastic pin in the first place. They messed up the housing and rigged it to attach in this way, assuming I wouldn't notice. And indeed I didn't, till the taillight became an issue. So, even though the original fixes to the car were good, they never disclosed to me about the "plastic" pin, nor they owned their mistake once it became apparent. I'm more disappointed in them doing a botched job at first and hiding it than anything else. If they told me it was attached with a plastic pin, I would've known how to deal with this properly and not wasted so much time on it. Needless to say, I won't be going back to Kuni. I should add that the "estimate" person (Mr. Kim) I worked with was actually nice. He even helped me locate the paperwork from when the car was fixed. But I'm guessing their company policy is to ask for high prices (more than $950) for even something like this, which they should've acknowledged as their mistake and they should've taken care of it. Perhaps they were just trying to make me go away, and in that, they were quite successful. Perhaps far better successful in driving me away than they anticipated, but alas they valued their own "time" than mine. A mistake in my opinion. read more

I drove my optimal functioning 328i to Kuni for a bumper replacement. After being serviced, I had my car towed to my mechanic to repair the electrical damage that "coincidentally" took place. I can't recommend Kuni anymore. It's not the same company it once was since the acquisition. read more

Brought my car in for an estimate because the State Farm repair shop was on a 6 month wait. Big mistake on my part. They took apart the car and would not honor the State Farm estimate and then charged me $250 to put the car back together. Then today I found out they did not put the car back together correctly so now I have to wait for additional parts. Don't take your car here read more

My experience was overall positive. I was a victim of a minor accident that left two side doors damaged. I liked the fact the estimate include replacing the door shells rather than hammering them out so that's a plus. It was a 4 week wait just to turn the car in because they are quite popular being the only "certified" BMW collision center. When I got the car back, to my disappointment there was paint gun misfire on the frame above the doors which they were willing to address. What was more disturbing was my wheel alignment was way off! Remember I had the vehicle for 4 weeks before I turned it in, no issues on alignment after the accident. I drove it all that time and would have known something was wrong. I don't want to point fingers but clearly "somebody" hit something transferring the vehicle from point A to point B. To their credit they were willing to take my word and they gave me an alignment work at no charge. I want to give 5 stars, I think from a customer orientation they deserve 5 stars. Execution however I cannot award them 5 stars with my experience. Probably because they have so many projects per week sometimes they are overwhelmed. I would give them my biz again. read more

NO thank you! A motorcycle ran into my SUV that I need a back bumper replacement. The estimate for a repair was around $5700.00. I decided to make an appointment with Kuni for a repair, despite all their bad reviews. They won't make an appointment unless I have an insurance verification letter or I have to pay 50% down for the service. It tells me that they don't trust me while I am giving them my $60K car. It's foolish to think people don't have liability or money to fix it. I am not a fan! read more

Consumer Beware: This shop will not use used parts, even when your insurance company only compensates you for one, which means you must pay the difference (for the new part) or find another shop. Once you agree to repairs, they will give you a free loaner car. When you check out this loaner car, be sure to inspect it with very close detail. When you return this loaner, they will get on hands and knees, looking for the slightest imperfections and then start talking about charging you for them. Also, they take photocopies of your credit card, which is completely against Visa and MasterCard guidelines. I have no complaints about the workmanship, just business ethics. I used to love Kuni where I bought my Lexus, but this has left a dent in our future relationship. read more

Had a great experience dealing with Isaiah and the team in the body shop. I normally hate dealing with auto repair in any form, but these guys made it easy. Someone rear-ended by Bimmer, requiring a new bumper, and these guys did everything right. Just a few points: -Estimate was less than another body shop in my area. -Great job of setting all expectations up front. ("We can't get you in for 3 weeks, and we will need the car three days.") Unlike the prior Body shop I was dealing with that didn't feel the need to mention they would need the car for multiple days until I tried multiple times to make an appointment. -Work was perfect, everything looks brand new. -Suggested that I can get a rental and be reimbursed for it. They have an on-site Hertz with a cheap "body shop" rate. Even assisted with getting the rental on the invoice with the repair so I could get reimbursed. -Washed and vacuumed the car for good measure. -Courteous and knowledgeable. Can't recommend these guys enough. They might not be the cheapest out there (or maybe they are, who knows?) but they absolutely do things right and the service is excellent. If you're wanting good body shop work, or someone else is paying your bill, definitely come here. read more

Five stars for repair work One star for administrative / customer service before and after repair. Took our Lexus GS in for an estimate to get the front bumper replaced. Was given an estimate and was told the part / repair schedule was out three months. No big deal, it was cosmetic, but we wanted to get the car repaired. We were paying out of pocket since the bumper "became one with a chunk of cement" in a parking garage. Came back three months later for our scheduled appointment and left the car for four days, which is what the estimate calculated. Picked up a rental car from the on-site Hertz counter that morning. Received a call on the day car was due to be completed and drive over to pick it up. As I walked up to the car - which is bright red - I noticed a white paint mark on the back passenger door. Called my husband to see if he remembered seeing it - nope, but the estimator I'd been working with - Isiah - said no problem, if I had some time they'd buff it out. A technician came over and drove away with my car to do the buffing, and there was a horrible noise coming from the front of the vehicle. They put the car up on the rack and pulled the tire and found two pebbles in the brake area. No idea how those got there? About an hour later the car is back and they buffed out the white scuff and some superficial scratches, all at no additional charge. All in all very happy with the repair and the additional "fixes" when I went to get the car. And it was detailed inside and out! Giving five stars to the repair shop -which is why I took the car there. Giving ONE star to the administrative staff for several issues - I ended up talking to their manager TWICE to get things straightened out BEFORE even dropping the car off, and am now dealing with an overbilling of my credit card that can't be fixed until Monday? It was 2:30 Friday afternoon and no one could fix / issue a credit for the overbilling until Monday? So, will need to deal with administrative / customer service manager again about lack of training for issuing a credit for an over billing. read more

They get the job done - mostly. While the services was professional and courteous a recent repair took quite a long time to get done and when I got my car back I had to return for a correction. To be fair the issue they needed to fix was because of a custom license plate holder that was re-attached insecurely, but the effect was my parking indicator going off non-stop. It would have been nice if this was tested and noticed before handing it off to me. read more

We had our 2014 Nisan Sentra repaired by these guys a few years ago, some issues came up with the repairs and we weren't getting anywhere with geico on resolving the issues. Brett took over the whole thing and worked everything out with our insurance and the body shop who did the additional repairs to the vehicle. I cannot thank Brett enough for stepping up and taking care of us and our vehicle. No shop is perfect but Kuni stands behind their work and their customers! Highly recommended! read more

Called Kuni to see about having the car towed in (left rear wheel was badly damaged) and was told it would take 3 weeks for an estimate if the car was towed in, and repairs are currently being scheduled THREE MONTHS OUT!! They have a nice waiting area with a big screen TV and nice leather couches and chairs! They also give you free bottled water. My car looks great and Kuni Collision Center (KCC) did a nice job of repairing it, but the service was absolutely atrocious. I would absolutely not bring my car here again. Had an incident involving a parking garage column and scratches on my new car. I took it in to KCC for an estimate and my first interaction should have been a sign of things to come. No "hello", no "how are you doing today", but rather, the first thing the receptionist barked at me was "who's your insurance company". It should have been clear from the onset that this is a place more focused on milking insurance companies than providing great customer service. I eventually worked through the insurance issues and was then able to get put on a waiting list where I could bring my car back in 6 weeks for repairs. Yes, it's a 6-week wait list. A nice touch was that I got several voicemails asking me to confirm the time I would drop it off, which I did, but they had no record of this when I took it in. The ironic thing about KCC is that one of their mottos is that they "respect your time". In fact, I heard this over and over again every time I called because I was forced to listen to an automated "hold" message for several minutes. You see, KCC won't ever call you and actually give you an update on how your car is doing. Rather, you must call them and ask or you may never find out. Problem is, when you call you are immediately put on hold, OR, the phone will ring 80-90 times before someone will actually pick it up. Or in many cases, both. So, it's basically impossible to get an update on your car without spending 20-30 minutes on the phone trying to talk to someone. Your time is definitely not respected here. I was told that my car would take 10 days to fix, and it ended up taking 3 weeks. At one point KCC was involved with a minor dispute with my insurance (due to a $50 increase in cost) and stopped all work for several days without notifying me. I only found this out after going through the 20-30 minute phone procedure noted above. They seemed to be under the impression that the insurance company was the customer, rather than me. And I must say that the 3 weeks would probably been longer if I hadn't called almost daily to nag them for an update (again with a 15-20 minute hold to get through each and every time). It's clear that KCC, along with the Kuni dealership, is compeltely overwhelmed with demand and simply can't keep up. You, the customer, will be the one who suffers. Unfortunately this is the only certified BMW collision center in Oregon, but honestly this experience was so bad that next time I would drive it to Seattle or go to one of the many other excellent collision shops in the area, BMW-certified or not. read more

What a disappointment. I've been a customer for about eight years, but my last experience was awful. While there are lots of anecdotes about declining quality at the dealership, and friends have moved their business to the other dealer in town, I'd not seen problems at the Collision Center. A repair that should have taken a well-managed shop about 5 days (or 10 in a worst case scenario) took 22--and the call to me to advise me that the car was ready for pickup arrived 30 minutes before closing on the 22nd day (rush hour, too), so basically 23 days. And this after they told me on the 17th day that it would likely be ready by close of business but for sure I could fetch it on the 18th day. Imagine how it feels when you trust a service provider and they violate your trust--with no communication, no explanation, no contrition, and no apology. And no recourse, either: They have your car, disassembled; what can one do? Oh, and the rep managing my repairs lied to me (3x that I could verify). What was further troubling is the pressure I received to rent a car 'because your insurance will pay for it.' I was asked three times in my call to schedule the repair to rent a car from the onsite rental vendor, and three times I had to say clearly no--it was supposed to be a quick turnaround and I could be without a car for a few days. (The way insurance works, those car rental costs just get passed back to me or spread out among all the policyholders, so it's in all our interests to keep a lid on insurance costs.) The one question I am taking away from this is wondering if the prolonged repair period is a strategy to increase revenue from their rental car operation? The extra revenue from just my repair wouldn't amount to much in the grand scheme, but in aggregate it could be significant. If you choose Kuni--and they do seem to do good work--just be sure that you have a rep who is experienced and will look out for you. read more

Some butt-pipe on I-205 panic stops in front of my brand new 335d and I get charged with the accident. I asked him, "what the HELL! Was there a line of ducks crossing the bloody bridge?!?" He mumbles some apology and we exchange info. My car gets towed to KCC and they fix it. All of it. I'm probably the pickiest, most demanding a-hole in the greater Portland metro area and I couldn't find a single flaw. That doesn't mean I didn't tell off the appraiser when he said $1250 for EACH light HOUSING ... not the lights, just the housing! And I tore into a snotty receptionist while I was there, but beyond that the work was FLAWLESS. read more

I had my car at Kuni Collision center near 4 months because it was a near loss and they were booked out to August and my accident occurred June 29. They did a better job and my car was near totaled. The manager tried to see if my car could be totaled and I would get the money I wanted but that didn't happen because I wanted my car back. my car was in better condition and looked brand new. read more

I took my new Nissan Altima in for a $15 oil change and an estimate to buff out a couple of scratches (they did it for free)! The service consultant checked with Nissan to see if oil changes were complimentary with the dealership since it was a new car. I appreciated that he went out of his way to try an save me money. Absolutely worst customer service I have ever seen... I had taken my car in for some body work, and had an appointment. My insurance estimator was the the next day to evaluate the car and start the estimate process of my claim. Kuni took and cashed the check the insurance company gave them and the proceeded to hold on to my car for 6 weeks. I called continuously to check on the status of my car, I did not have rental coverage and was paying out of pocket to have my driveable car sit in their collision center. After having my car for a month and having the date of completion continuously pushed out and not having my calls returned. They they pushed the date out 6 weeks I asked for rental car reimbursement and was denied. The fact that they took on the work and couldn't complete it, was not my fault. Only after finally having my insurance adjuster call did I get an estimate of an end date for my car to be finished, March 15th. Which would have made my time without a vehicle 3 1/2 months. So, here i am paying for a rental out of pocket (which I had asked them to reimburse or give me a loaner due to the untimely manner at which they couldn't complete the work on my car they had already been paid to do! I was even told by their Collision center supervisor Billy that there were other, more expensive cars so they couldn't get to it. They have had turnover and still had taken my car, knowing they couldn't complete the work in a timely manner. I would have been happy to reschedule my appointment, due to the reviews I had heard about Kuni. If i had know, I was willing to reschedule and until they could get the job done. After finding out my car wouldn't be ready until March 15th, 3 1/2 months after I dropped it off, I called up the chain of command and wanted my car released, so i could drive it, not pay for a rental and to go to another shop. I didn't care if other shops were backed up due to the Portland Winter storm, at least I wouldn't have to pay $110.00 a week to drive a car I do not need, while my car sits there in their shop. I had already talked to the insurance company and due to their lack of customer service and completing the job in a timely manner, my request was feasible. When I spoke to Marci at Kuni in the business office, she then informed me that I would have to pay out of pocket the fee to disassemble my vehicle (which had already been paid by my insurance) So, not only have I been paying for a rental car $110.00 a week for 6 weeks that was completely unnecessary, I was also expected to pay the fee for them to release my car. She was then patronizing me that I wouldn't be able to get my released to me without paying fr the fee. Either myself or the insurance company was paying for it... I was done, I had paid $650.00 already for a car, for no reason and was expected to pay another $175.00 to get my car back to go to another shop. As far as I'm concerned, they had greedily taken enough of my time and money. I refused to pay for them to do absolutely none of the work they were already paid to do. And to top it off the massive inconvenience for having to fight with them to do the right thing, when they never should have taken on the work they couldn't complete in the first place, knowing full well I was paying for a rental car out of my own pocket, Kuni refused to reimburse me for the rental car, I completely unnecessarily paid for. The cherry on this whole mess was only to find out, had the insurance company been paying for my rental, the work would have been done in 30 days due to the cut off implied by the insurance company's rental car reimbursement coverage. read more

I'm a young, single female. When something goes wrong on my Jetta I start to hyperventilate not only because I need a working car but because I don't want to get ripped off. The first time I went to Kuni I needed my throttle body either cleaned or replaced. I decided to go with cleaning first and hope it would work. They only charged my $50 and I drove away and have never had a problem again! That wasn't what made my day though. My bumper had gotten ripped off when parking and they re-attached it!! For free!! I died!! Today I had to bring in the Jetta because my window fell into my door. Andrew was SUUUPER friendly on the phone when I called this morning and gave me a rough estimate, then called me back after researching some more to give me a real estimate on parts and labor. When I got there I was greeted by Andrew, who was still super friendly, and I'm pretty sure he had been there over 8 hours when I got there. Andrew and Bryce, the mechanic periodically checked in with me to tell me what was going on and how much longer it would take. They fixed my window for half of what Andrew and originally quoted and were still SUPER FRIENDLY!! I'll never go anywhere else. read more

We highly recommend Kuni Collision Center and service advisor Isaiah Martin for going beyond the call of duty to get our still-new Lexus repaired efficiently and at a fair price in spite of insurance company obstacles and challenges presented by our schedule. The day before our two week driving trip to the Northwest, our car was hit from behind by a distracted driver. The damage done to our vehicle left the car drivable, but in need of repair. There is no Lexus dealer in southern Oregon, where we live. Fortunately, though, since we were to be near Portland on the first day of our trip, we went to the Kuni Collision Center, which came recommended to us by the Lexus dealer from whom we had purchased our car just a few months earlier. We were thrilled by the outstanding service we received from Isaiah Martin, the service advisor/ estimator, who was efficient, professional, and pleasant. We really felt like he was our advocate in getting the job done right. Knowing that we were anxious to get on with our trip, he took photos and submitted the necessary paperwork immediately. We then departed on our trip. With a follow-up call to the insurance company, Isaiah confirmed that the e-documents had arrived. He then informed us, via phone, that the insurance company had received the paperwork. When various errors were made by the insurance company, Isaiah, going beyond the call of duty, followed up immediately to get them handled. He kept us informed until the insurance company's errors were rectified. Our plan was to have the estimate done at the beginning of our trip and to have the work done two weeks later, upon our return to the Portland area. When we returned, the parts had been delivered and car rental arrangements had been made for us. Three days later, we were thrilled with the work that had been done. The car, once again, looked like our new car! We give the Kuni Collision Center the highest marks across the board, and we highly recommend Isaiah Martin, an outstanding employee who works efficiently and courteously to provide superb customer service. read more

The first time that my car was rear ended, I took my car to them and had a rental car for two and a half weeks. If there was the option to give no stars, I would. I would highly recommend going somewhere else for auto body repairs. Their estimate for a small dent in a door was $2,700.00. The insurance company denied the estimate and Kuni said, "that is common." They told me to bring it in anyway and they would work it out with the insurane company. They had our car for a week, took it apart, and then sent the insurance company a new estimate for $3800.00. They even put the air conditioner on the estimate for a small dent in a door. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to know that wasn't necessary. The insurance denied the second claim. I took our car to a reputable Auto Body Shop and they agreed to pay the insurance estimate, $1,074.00 which was $2,726.00 less! The worst part of the entire experience was how they treated us. I stood at the counter for 10 minutes while the front desk employee was on the phone and she completely ignored me instead of saying I'll be with you in a moment, or even looking at me. Then their adjuster came out and talked over me when I tried to tell him some important information about the insurance. They treated us like they were inconvenienced by me asking simple questions. They were flat out rude. A total waste of time and a VERY stressful experience. I took my car to Southwest Autobody & Frame and had a WONDERFUL experience! read more

This is a belated review, but thought I needed to 'cool down' after my experience here. Brought my 2007 Lexus GX470 in for a front fender bender repair this past winter. The person in charge of my case was a guy named Isaiah Martin who right off the bat had an incredibly confrontational and negative attitude (this should have been the first red flag for me to request someone else). Anyhow, the shop had mostly good reviews and was a certified Lexus shop. So I dropped the truck off in early February and was given a date that the repairs would be done - in April. When I called to say I was coming in to pick up the truck, Isaiah seemed annoyed and unprepared for me to retrieve my vehicle. But the most incredible thing is that when I picked up my vehicle the dash, I found the dash on the passenger side had a network of cracks in it! I pointed this out to Isaiah and he said this is a known issue with the GX470s and Lexus' in general, which I totally acknowledge, but was surprised this car could go 10+ years without a single crack in the dash and then all of a sudden develop cracks in the dash in the couple months it was in the shop. The most annoying thing is when I brought it to the attention of his manager, this Isaiah guy then tried to accuse me of lying and said that cracks existed in the dash before I brought the car in. Totally unbelievable. I was stunned. Kuni Collision then referred me to the Kuni Lexus dealership to go through the manufacturer warranty process which apparently has a wait list of several years. This is my third extremely positive recognition and recommendation for Kuni Collision for work done on my BMW. Unfortunately my car has been hit three separate times by other drivers. The third time I was extremely frustrated that someone had hit my car again, but was confident and happy that I have such a good place to take my car in for repairs and I've developed a very good relationship with the folks at Kuni Collision: Isaiah and Summer. Their exemplary customer care is a reflection of the Kuni Collision reputation for excellent work done by excellent staff. Isaiah has each and every time gone beyond just good customer service. Unfortunately I wrecked my new Lexus with only 5400 miles on it. I was recommended to talk to Isaiah Martin and Kuni Collision Center when my car was brought in. It had substantial damage on it. It's such a bad time for the owner of a vehicle, but Isaiah took the time to tell me how long it would be in for the repairs. He explained what the process was and that it would be back to new condition. He helped me set up a rental so that I wasn't stuck without transportation. I spoke to him several times during the rebuilding of my car and he always had time to help with what I needed at the time. I picked my car up today, and it looks fantastic. He went through the the paperwork to explain everything to me. Helped me transfer things to my car. I can't tell you when I have had that kind of customer service from any company. I hope that I don't need that type of service again, but if I do, there would be no question of where I would go. Isaiah is such an asset to this business, because he has such a calming demeanor and that is what someone like me needs in a situation like that. I took my wifes Z4 in on December 8th and got an estimate for repair of $1114.00. This for minor damage to the front end. We told them we did not want to turn it in to our insurance and that we would be leaving for vaction on the 12th. They called my wife the next day and said it may be as much as $2000.00. When we returned to pick up the car on the 21st the bill was $3570.00. I have worked on and built cars all my life and I can tell you this was the classic body shop scam of we found more damage when we took it apart. This was for very minor damage to the front of the car that seemed more in line with the original estimate than the final repair.They knew that there would be no insurance claim adjuster and that we were on vaction and unable to verify the added repairs. When my wife picked up the car she did not get 2 blocks before the coolant light came on. She took it back and waited another 1 1/2 hrs for them to fix it. Great quality control on thier part. When questioned why the repair was more than 3 times the estimate they really could not provide a good answer. I also have a BMW and we will not be returning to Kuni for sales or service. I own a Lexus and am very particular when it comes to car cleanliness and detail. I met Isaiah years ago when I was buying a car and wanting to know if it had been in any accidents prior to purchasing. I have been in several times and each and every time the car came back better than it did before the accident. He always kept me informed and made sure the work was done perfectly. There was a friend who had recent damage to her BMW from valet parking. I told her to go to Kuni Collision and see Isaiah. She said she had already done so and was helped by Isaiah.
