First time here since this new location reopened. I walked in and I had to say hello to the young girl behind the counter so there was no initial greeting. I started looking in the cases and didn't really see anything that I really wanted to order. I remember getting a fruit tart (single serving) in the past but did not see anything I wanted. I ordered a slice of cheesecake and a slice of a chocolate dessert (Entement) I think was the name. I was ready to check out and while I was paying an older woman walked in and she immediately said "Hi welcome in" which I didn't receive when walking in. Another thing that threw me for a loop was that she handed over one small tiny box which apparently had both desserts one on top of each other. I was planning on opening the boxes and displaying a nice pic on here for Yelp but I guess they are trying to conserve on boxes especially after paying $5 and $7 for each dessert. She could have asked if that was ok or if I needed each packed individually. All in all, both were just ok and nothing to brag about. I just figured I would stop in and see how things were but I would have to say I liked the old classic cake from many years ago, it was more fresh - This one just tastes blah to me. read more

The Saturday before, i received a phone call stating that they reached the maximim of making Yule Log cakes and that I would not be receiving one, it was after the fact. First, the woman behind the counter, I apologize because your name escapes me at the moment, but what wasn't lost on me was your outstanding customer service, your genuine greeting, warm inviting tone, and personable attitude. Now, onto the sweets and treats. My husband has an inner fat kid that is going through a cheesecake tantrum at the moment. I, myself, make amazing cheesecakes and I could tell that if not for fear of having to reside permanently in your bakery, he would've said yours was better. I could almost taste what he was tasting just from the way that he was emoting. At one point, I think he drooled and I wiped my mouth. His inner fat kid always has room for three things, brownies, ice cream, and cheesecake. So, we purchased a brownie. Which, he tried to inhale while driving the 45 minutes back to Pennsylvania. I made him wait so that he could enjoy it. He thanked me by dropping crumbs on the sofa. I got the cupcake with sprinkles, or Jimmies, if you're into that kind of weird thing. It did not disappoint. The cake was moist. The icing has nice flavoring, and not so sweet that I feel the need to reach for a glucometer. It isn't greasy, leaving me feelings as if I've petroleum jellied my teeth to keep my smile on bling. It was the perfect cupcake, and the perfect portion size for me. I also got the sugar cookies. I'm a sugar/butter/shortbread fanatic. They can be hard or soft. I'll take them any way that they come. Yes! I'm still talking about the cookies, guys. I wasn't sure where to start and just ended up staring at all the options for about ten minutes before deciding on a simple chocolate cup cake with cream cheese frosting. Having been customers for decades, I was surprised to have this problem. Ordered chocolate covered matzos for Passover. Thought they were large pieces , fully covered with chocolate. Very surprised to see this. Smaller, candy covered matzos with a dip of chocolate. Tried to return it as it was not what we thought it was. Told they would not accept return after leaving the store. So the only reason I gave it 2 stars was because I only had the macaroons from there, however I had driven a bit to get there& highly unsatisfied with the flavor. The all tasted the same even though ever flavor I got was different. From vanilla to chocolate ALL THE SAME. & it would have been one thing if the flavor was good, but it was an artificial gross taste. I haven't been to Classic Cake in a couple years. I visited their pop up shop at Short Hills Deli. The staff was super friendly. I stopped in because I wanted to see the chocolate chambord cake. My daughter wanted something different for her birthday. This cake looked beautiful especially the raspberry mirror top. It was absolutely delicious. My daughter said it was the best cake she ever had. The cake is chocolate raspberry with chocolate raspberry mousse and the raspberry mirror. It is a very rich cake and I definitely would purchase it again. There were no complaints at all. Just a suggestion I don't know if it's possible but could a layer of that raspberry mirror on top go inside as well? I found myself saving that part for last. read more

I came here once before as a tease, I was allowed to look but not to buy. As a dessert fiend this was not easy, but I could see that patience might bring rewards. So it did a few days ago when Trish surprised me with a decadent completely chocolate cake for a special day. We went inside to pick it up and the other treats available distracted me completely. Many familiar items and some new ones too( like WTF is a "cruffin") Starting with the macarons, there were at least 6 other things that all screamed at me. Then I saw my cake, those other distractions faded away. This was a five star cake, and possibly the best chocolate cake I've ever had. The cake part was moist and flavorful, the icing a chocolate ganache that had just a touch of butter. It was decorated with chocolate fans and shavings. I would not be opposed to having this same cake for any cake requiring event. Having only sampled this cake and the apple one, I don't feel qualified to go to 5 stars yet. I ordered a 12 inch Mocha Cabaret, turned out to be his super yummy, super RICH cake with two layers - one vanilla and one chocolate, both soaked in Kahlua and topped with mocha buttercream and chocolate ganache. To say the cake was a hit was an understatement. My guests loved it, and so did I! I'm not sure just how I forgot about CCC, because I know my family has ordered from there for birthdays in the past, but please believe that I won't forget about it again! I'm always intrigued by cute bakeries I've yet to taste, so I walked into Classic Cake this afternoon instead of the usual Starbucks to do some work. Modern chic interior with many of their superbly decorated cakes on display. There's definitely someone with good artistic/pastry chops working here. I wish I knew of this place back during my Sweet 16. Anyway, I scanned their display case and got a "slice" of an almond raspberry cake with a white chocolate mousse. To be honest, it was just OK. Not bad, but forgettable. The cake was a smidge dry but I'm not sure if that was intentional to contrast the mousse. Reading other Yelpers' reviews, maybe I should've gone with a different dessert... My cappuccino was solid. But there's wifi, friendly staff, ample seating, and less people hanging out, so I'm sticking around for now. read more

My daughter and I hosted my daughter-in-law's baby shower. My daughter went to classic cake in Cherry Hill and ordered a naked cake with blue icing as it was for a boy. When she went to pick it up, she found out they wrote down a baby reveal and therefore covered it up with icing. She told me that it looked like a kindergartner iced it, as she was hysterical crying on the phone. We were meeting in just minutes at the shower venue. My daughter gave Classic Cake a picture of what the cake should look like when it was ordered. She chose a naked cake because the cake at their wedding was one. The cake pictured on your website is a naked cake, so we had no reason to think you couldn't make one. After seeing how upset my daughter was, her husband brought the cake back into the bakery to get it fixed. It was the most disappointing cake I have ever ordered!!! Even the Lemon cake tasted like pound cake with lemon flavoring. May I add this small cake was $65. You would think they would have given some money off this totally overpriced cake after causing so much grief!!! No! We were forced to serve this embarrassing cake! Five Stars for Classic Cake and Sharon who works there! I stopped in to get some Father's Day treats for my husband yesterday. Couldn't decide bc everything looked so yummy!! Got cupcakes, cookies and a box of macaroons. Best part of my experience was the excellent customer service. Both of the counter girls and Sharon the manager were friendly, courteous and helpful. While I was browsing the cakes, I actually witnessed Sharon interact with an extremely unpleasant and downright rude customer who was picking up a cake, did not know any important details of cake order and became irate when she was asked for those details. It bears noting that Sharon was patient and professional, maintaining her composure the entire time, even when this customer became verbally abusive. Important to point out that the customer walked out with the correct cake-there was absolutely no error on Classic Cake's end. Sharon handled the situation with grace and afterwards continued to cheerfully help other customers without skipping a beat. PS: Hubby and kids loved the cupcakes and macaroons!! My new favorite is the harlequin which is chocolate cake and ganache with a white chocolate mousse. I also love their italian rum cake and my mom's favorite thing to get there is the almond dreams. Their cakes and fillings are fresh, light, and delicious. They usually have cake samples in the store, so you can try something. I haven't ever tried something I didn't like. Also, macarons are hard to come by an they sell them there. If you really need a cake you should call in advance to see what's there. Sometimes if you go towards the end of the day they don't have much left in their display case. If you end up going there a lot, start a rewards card and once you spend enough money you'll get a free cake. read more

I love their fruit tarts! They've consistently been delicious! They use Illy brand coffee, which tastes smooth and strong, but not bitter like some other brands. They have a nice, quiet seating atmosphere near the displays, which does make it a little diificult to resist if you're trying to be good.
