The service was excellent. The rolls were great. The mesclun salad was very good. But my entree, linguine with primavera sauce and calamari, was disappointing. The sauce was very watery, like a broth, and contained absolutely no peapods which were listed as one of the vegetables and my main reason for choosing it. Changes have been for the worse unfortunately. They added a mini casino, which really tells you all you need to know about the new owners. New seating has zero padding and is very uncomfortable. A friend and I went for lunch on a Wed. I wasn't crowded at all but had a lunch menu that was reasonably priced. I got stuffed shells. There were two that were stuffed with a lot of cheese and sauce. They brought a basket of hot rolls that just came out of over and alone with dipping oil. My friend got a seasoned ribeye steak. It was in rye bread with Lettuce and tomato. It wasn't grilled but the steak was cooked medium. She said it was delicious. The lunch menu was reasonably price compared to dinner. We had 4 paying customers and with the tip automatically added it became so frustrating to 2 parties who could not figure it out. Had high expectations from this Italian restaurant based on the reviews and Italian background, and decided to give it a try. Important to note that you should make sure you have a reservation, but isn't required to dine. Waited about 30 min for a table and was bumped by a few others who called ahead. Basket of bread came to the table first and had a decent assortment in the basket. Was disappointed at the toughness of the bread as the rolls served seemed to be reheated prior to coming to the table. Very tough to chew and our youngest child could not eat them at all. Portion sizes for the entree were good sizes. We ordered Lasagna, Spaghetti bolognese, and Cheese Raviolis with meat sauce. Found it odd that the restaurant did not include a salad with the Spaghetti entree, and was up charged for a Caesar Salad with the Lasagna meal on the bill when it already came with the house salad. Noodles were cooked nicely in the Spaghetti and Ravioli dish. The Lasagna noodle was difficult to cut and required a knife to get through the noodle stack which was a sign that it was previously frozen. The sauce had a little spice to it which was welcomed. I would have preferred the sauce to be more full and less watery, however. Overall the restaurant atmosphere was top end. The service was excellent, and wait staff was friendly and attentive. Would return here to eat again to try other portions of the menu. Other plates brought out from tables around us showcased the other dishes well. Price point was indicative of a more fresh tasting meal and was left wanting more from the experience. read more

My husband took me here to celebrate my birthday. The food is really delicious and we both love coming here. However, last night we were somewhat disappointed. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms and thought they were flavorful until my husband noticed the clear broth they were sitting in and started to wonder if it wasn't clam juice as he is allergic to shellfish. After questioning the waitress, she verified with the kitchen it was indeed clam juice (luckily I had Benadryl in my purse and quickly gave him a dose. We were very disappointed this potential allergen wasn't listed as an ** next to the description (as I am sure others who dine in this restaurant might allergic to shellfish as well and would also like to know about this ingredient). I pass by this local Italian spot regularly on my commute, and my fiancée and I finally decided to treat ourselves to some homemade pasta. I was craving pasta, but the chicken parm caught my eye since it comes with pasta as well, so I went for it. For $23, you get chicken, pasta, and your choice of soup or salad, which seemed like a great deal. However, when I got home with my carryout order, I found something missing--no pasta! I had a room temperature to mildly warm chicken breast and soup, but no pasta, which was the main reason I ordered the dish. Despite the mishap, the chicken and soup were delicious. I still enjoyed the meal, but I was pretty disappointed that I didn't get to try their pasta after all. We decided to go tonight to see Deadpool and Wolverine at the Cinemax in Woodridge so dinner had to be somewhere around there. I made a reservation for 6 o'clock at Clara's and told him that it was my wife's birthday. We went there. We were seated 10 minutes late, we had a great waiter named Bobby who took good care of us. I ordered a salad with about five different types of lettuce, tomatoes carrots I told them no cucumbers and no cheese to remember the name of the dress and I got the pomegranate dressing with blackened salmon on the salad was very good. I would've rather had thousand island dressing, but they didn't have it, my wife also had their spinach salad and she enjoyed it and we each took half home because they were huge for lunches tomorrow then because I had told them when I made the reservation it was my wife's birthday. They brought her out a piece of tiramisu and I had a cuppa coffee. Coffee was great, she ate every last lick of the tiramisu so I know that it was good. While I don't think it is as good as when it was little in the strip mall, I still enjoy the food and the homemade pasta. I recently went on the Wednesday before thanksgiving with family and we had great service. The food was good as well. I always have to get the grilled calamari. Everyone enjoyed their dinner. The food though was not even subpar it was actually terrible. I've never seen EVERYONE in our group not only leave food but literally take a couple bites and ask for to-go boxes. Salt is a seasoning not a flavor, everything was so salty that it was inedible. My food was sitting in a pool of oil with hardly any pasta in it. I felt like I was eating salt, sauce, and oil, with a couple noodles and 2 or 3 pieces of chicken. The atmosphere is warm and lively. The staff is very welcoming. Our server was very friendly, attentive, helpful, and knowledgeable. She made the meal extra nice and treated us like we were friends. The menu is huge and truly has something for everyone. The drink menu is equally big and has lots of specialty drinks as well as standards and a very nice wine and beer selection. The warm rolls they bring to the table are very nice. Soft and pillowy with just the right amount of chew. To drink I went with the house cosmopolitan. It was sweet and enjoyable. For an appetizer we had the pesto bruschetta. Toasted old world bread spread with pesto and topped with tomatoes, onion, and goat cheese. I loved the twist on an old classic. It was sort of like pizza with the toppings being more held in with the sauce. It was delicious. Creamy, a little chewy, and flavorful. Meals automatically come with soup or salad. I went with the lobster bisque. It was warm and creamy. It lacked flavor and wasn't my favorite part of the meal, but since it came with the meal no big deal. For the main course I had the Rudy Jr. Shrimp special. Shrimp sautéed in garlic, olive oil, parmigiana, and white wine served over spinach and fresh egg angel hair pasta. There is also an option to have it made spicy. This was so delicious. The shrimp and pasta were both perfectly cooked. The savory flavors were delightful. I will not only order this again, I actually had my left overs for breakfast. FYI both the bruschetta and the pasta keep wonderfully overnight. For dessert we split the flowerless chocolate torte. If you're like me and prefer icing over cake you will love this dessert. It's cold, rich, creamy, decadent, deliciousness. A great way to end a great meal.
