Cko maplewood definitely helps clear my mind. Great place to get a good workout in. I canceled my Planet fitness membership to go back to CKO because I know I'll get more bang for my buck there. Every instructor has their own method but the classes are always run to go to especially that I sweat more there! Rennica, George & Patty are my top 3 advanced boxing instructors. The other instructors are good also. CKO made me shed more and I'm in the last process of toning. I love coming here, it's welcoming and you can develop friendships along the way. read more

The instructors are great here and encourage you to go at your own pace unlike in a lot of classes. Each student has his or her own bag and workout station. The music was a bit loud and sometimes made it hard to hear the instructor. I always hate getting myself to CKO Maplewood, but once I am there I love every bit of it and always walk out on cloud nine!!! Was really impressed with the free trial class I took! I had taken a trial class years ago in jersey city and didn't really love it because I wasn't sweating nor sore the next day. This class however was fun and challenging! It was not just kickboxing but also lots of squats, abs, push ups which I enjoyed! As a fairly avid runner and gym goer on rain days, I fell in love with CKO Kickboxing on day 1! It is absolutely the greatest workout I have ever done. They workouts are crushing in the best way possible and get easier quickly. No one forces you or shames you into doing more than you can. do. You do the best you can and the next day you find you can do a little better. The staff and owners of CKO/Maplewood are exemplary and everyone is very friendly and encouraging. This CKO in Maplewood is very great. I gave it 4 stars for the pros and cons. Pros: + The owner is very welcoming; she's done an excellent job since it started. + The staff is very friendly and provides fulfilling workouts. + The price is very reasonable; you get what you pay for! + The class is boot-camp like; they cover all parts of the body. + It's fun; who wouldn't want to take out their frustration on a bag. + Good respecting crowd. Cons: - It's one size fits all. They lack advanced classes. - Times are limited (1 morning class and 2 evening classes). - Sometimes the classes do get crowded (especially evenings). - The facility is basic. It is clean! - The music they choose (mainly pop). However, they do take music requests. But from my experience, the pros outweigh the cons! The owner - Tara- was completely condescending and disrespectful in her tone and delivery. And she was completely full of herself. I didn't know or understand all of the policies and protocols since this was my first time visiting but the way I was greeted and treated by Tara, without any regard to customer service was completely unacceptable for any business owner. When I told her that I didn't appreciate the manner in which I was being treated she laughed and smirked in my face. I was so disgusted by her negative energy I left immediately. Update for Yelp reviewers: I initially began to fill out the waiver as requested but I only filled out my name, dob and signature. I asked if I could complete the rest (my phone number and address - which I don't normally give out unless I commit) when class was over. However, the lack of customer service and negative attitude began the moment I walked in the door. And yes I do believe in informing and writing a review anytime the owner of an establishment gives you attitude and horrible service, just because there is no one higher up to speak with, which she made very clear a couple of times. read more

Amazing! Best workout of my life and real results. Super friendly staff & great teachers. I go daily at 9:30 w/ Tara and love thursday at 6:15 with Jermel, as well. Beginners to advanced, you go at your own pace & challenge yourself as you get stronger. There are no cons, as far as i'm concerned. I love it! read more

A few weeks ago I decided I REALLY needed something new for my workout. Wasn't getting results....and I'm in my mid-forties. Well, be careful what you ask for sometimes. :) CKO Maplewood is just an overall outstanding facility. It's clean, the staff are friendly and extremely welcoming, you can try a class free of charge--many to choose from. Nafisha and Jermel will have you crying like a baby-- in a good way. Look forward to trying some of the other instructors as well....I'll be sticking around awhile. read more
