My 13 year old son loves sports, but playing multiple team sports (which all seem to have 12 month seasons these days) at a high level became too much for him in middle school. As a recruit for the New Jersey State Police I've sought out guidance for boxing as it is a requirement for the academy. Doing research for boxing lessons, I came across x-fit boxing which caught my attention as one of the only one-on-one training gyms in the area. The owner of X-fit Boxing Studio is a great experienced Boxer and Personal Trainer who knows his stuff! His training style is proven to not be average. He does a mix of boxing techniques along with HIIT, strength conditioning and cross-fit. You are never stuck doing the same old boring routines with no result. He makes the workouts fun, for example flipping a deck of cards to determine what exercise move you need to do in a specific amount of time. Or spinning a wheel, you get nervous like hoping a burpee is not going to show up again lol. But it's motivating and fun, that's how workouts should be all the while your body is changing. I have been attending this gym and been training with Ahmik Bryant for about a year and a half has been AMAZING! Not only does he know his stuff and give you a variety of Dynamic workouts on each visit! He is also very pleasurable to work with! He is flexible with me and my hours. When I need to reach him he always there, if I have any questions. He makes workouts fun, with challenges, but fun workout regiments. He always encourages to take home what I have done during my workout and do it when I'm not there as well. I've been to one class so far at X Fit Boxing. I don't come from a boxing background but I like to stay in shape. I attended the class with two coworker's and had a great time with Ahmik. He helped someone like me with no experience feel really confident with my punching skills at the end of the session. It's like any work out- you get out what you put into it. But Ahmik does a great job of being positive and pushing you a little harder. It's a small gym so if you're comfortable with a 1-5 person setting it's perfect, the perk is you get a lot of individualized instruction, but also a front row seat to others being instructed too so you're always learning. read more
