They wasted valuable time knowing that an upcoming severe freeze warning could cause further damage to my home. I immediately scheduled on line to have them come and pump out the water and there was same day availability. They cancelled my service call because I hadn't signed the contract, which they never even sent out. They were greedily trying to upsell me when I was under pressure and cost me valuable time. I put it back together, but the water would no longer turn off so we had to keep the water to the entire house turned off. I called Ray's and they were not able to come out that night. The next day they were there within an hour of calling them. An hour later they had it fixed completely. The competition came out the night before and talked about putting valves in the basement, tearing out a bedroom wall to get to the back of the plumbing, and cutting through the shower wall! I knew this was not required because Ray's had switched out the other cartridge just a few months prior to this incident. The competition told me the cartridge was stuck and he may not be able to get a part since it was 8 p.m. He looked up the part and said it would be about $500 for the part and around the same for labor. I told him I'd call another plumber and deal with the mess in the morning. The competition charged me $189 to do nothing. Ray's charged me a total of $200 for parts and labor. I will never attempt plumbing DIY again and I will never use another plumbing service!
