Our project with DreamMaker involved remodeling our seriously out of date and undersized bathrooms in our 32 year old home. We had allocated much of our budget to other priorities when we built our home, the bathrooms were near the bottom of our list. We were impressed with DreamMakers approach to remodeling from the very first visit to their showroom where we met our designer Nathan. What followed was a discussion of the scope of our project, a home visit or two by him, and his great design that took our primary bath from a three to a ten. Nathan's guidance and suggestions throughout the selections of fixtures and finishes proved invaluable. The hall bathroom that serves both visitors and doubles as a bath for two other bedrooms also received a makeover with new tile, vanity, fixtures, lightning, flooring, and its first source of natural light with the installation of an awning style window. Dan M. was our lead carpenter, highly skilled, a great communicator, and quite a traffic director who directed the other subcontractors. His knowledge of their needs, responsibilities, and timelines was quite impressive. The entire DreamMaker staff worked together to produce a dramatic change and value to our home, hit their targeted six week completion date within approximately one day, and earned our highest recommendation for a job (project) well done. read more

BUYER/CONSUMER BEWARE!!!! This company became our worst nightmare. We signed a contract with them in April 2022 for what was supposed to be a $35,000 kitchen remodel. Chris, the designer, kept having great ideas to add to it. Then it became a $45,000 kitchen; next it was $48,000. By the time they were done adding on non-itemized "add-ons" (they are still refusing to itemize them), it was $52,600+. They did not even ask how I liked it. They left the bill on the kitchen table and took off before I came downstairs. The whole remodel with them was a process of contract breakage and bullying on the part of Chris and Curt, the designer and general manager. The remodel was supposed to start on 7/1/22. Chris called us, asking for some understanding, saying that they just could not get started until OCTOBER! Why was that? Chris told us, as did the cabinet installer, that they had signed up SO MANY projects and taken peoples' deposits that they actually needed FOUR work crews to keep up with THEIR CONTRACTS; he told us that they could barely cobble together one crew. But "Dream"Maker sure keeps grabbing those 50% downpayment knowing that they don't have crews to do the work on time as per THEIR CONTRACT. When Chris called up and told us they were starting, we told them that we were moving back into the house at that time and to please hold off until January. We didn't have the money for them anymore because it was used on other demands while they stood around not keeping their contract. Chris also demanded that they had to commandeer an entire room out of our home--in the middle of moving--to store THEIR items. They did not need an entire room, but took it. We were diagnosed with Covid on 9/22/22. We had Covid and were moving, sick, elderly and disabled, when Chris said they HAD to start NOW. They ripped out our kitchen, leaving us with noway to cook or water. Chris said they were vaccinated and didn't care. They were starting. Tough. Their two-week installation in October turned into a SIX WEEK installation because, well, Chris lied when he called us in October and stated, "We have ALL of your kitchen here and we are starting. Period. WE HAVE A CONTRACT!" (One they routinely break for their own convenience, but will hold over your head like a hammer, even though they wanted tons of understanding constantly, none to offer in return when the shoe is on the other foot--if you're still reading this and thinking of doing business here, keep on reading.....). Chris lied about having everything ready to go. He had FORGOTTEN to order the quartz countertops at all! It takes MONTHS to get those cut. But they had to start because they had everything ready to go, right? Wrong. That resulted in a 3-week further delay while we're still unable to get moved in because of them, and they never did have ALL OF THE PARTS. Once they arrived, Chris had not given them the correct specifications, so the stone was not even cut right. Holes were not cut right. Another big mess thanks to Chris. Then when they ripped out our Culligan water system and didn't put it back in correctly, they claimed that the Culligan spigot broke. Culligan says that's another lie out of them. They said that they have never had one just break. And since they took it all apart, they were the ones that broke it. Curt will not acknowledge this damage. And since the counters had not even been ordered or cut, the project could have been put off. They have so much to do. But they can't give you some understanding and go do that for now. I expected to pay the $10,000 and would have had all of the money to pay them--on time--had they ever done anything on time. They never did. The cabinet installer, one of the owners, broke a wall in the kitchen. He really freaked out; said it was an accident; THEIR fault; they would pay for the expensive panel that would need to be special ordered. It would be expensive of course and on them. They lied. And all the thousands in "add-ons" were NOT itemized in a legal or professional way. Curt, the GM, when I brought this up to him, immediately said he was just going to put a mechanical lien on our house. He would not tell me the price of the panel; refused an itemized bill; and when asked, got real smart with us and told us that unless we paid them more than we even have, he'll put a lien on you. He really does not care if you lose your home, health insurance, car...he's a real "nice" guy. The shelf installer, Eric, did the nice job in the pictures. His shelving collapsed and broke expensive cookware. The shelf was resting on one bracket and the gas line. Curt refuses to pay for broken cookware, too. I think his mechanical lien looks pretty flaccid compared to the complaint against them that they knew we'd filed with the Consumer Fraud Department of the Office of the Attorney General of Illinois....he knows it's there. I was planing on remodeling my small galley kitchen, but then considered the possibility of moving the kitchen to a much larger part of the house and turning the old kitchen into a mudroom. When I turned to DreamMaker with my ideas, having no idea what this might cost, Chris and Curt came out and created designs for both options with budget proposals for each. I opted to go the route of the bigger project and am so happy I did because it turned out so well and made my small house feel so much bigger and more efficient. During the design phase, our weekly meetings were always productive as Chris and Curt took my inspiration photos and ideas and, through a series of questions and presentations of options additional ideas from them, turned it all into an actionable plan. Those regular planning meetings were so valuable because I wasn't being forced make a ton of decisions all at once, but instead had time after each session to digest what had been presented before making final commitments. When construction started, the crews were respectful of the fact that I had no choice but to live in the house while multiple rooms were being gutted to the studs. They put up dust control barriers and tidied up at the end of each day. Sure, there were the inevitable hiccups that come with renovating an 80 year old house, but the team and I always had good discussions about the options that could keep the construction moving along. The project was finished earlier this year and I'm just as thrilled with my new spaces today as I was the day DreamMaker finished. With the holidays upon us, I'm looking forward to hosting the first family gathering with new kitchen. read more

(BUYERS BEWARE )We told them not to go over 45000 they call back they said it would be 48 and I said you can't go any higher than that when dreammaker got done with our kitchen 6 weeks later not to as they promised and at the end of October and not in July as the contract stated we had a $10000 additional add on And here we are on fixed incomes and Curt They're manager demanding that hes gonna put a lien on our house and everything else when we've already paid them almost 40000 dolivers they are not to be trusted police people don't go in that door you do not want to be in the predicament that myself and my husband is in These people will say oh it's one price and when they get it done it's $10000 more now whether this is double dipping or overcharging whatever it's in the Illinois Attorney General's hands right no and Not for sure how it's going to end up but I almost bet that somebody from dream maker goes to jail either for the elder are the ripping off and blocking of people over 65 years old read more

The people at this company were nice to work with. However, there was a serious lack of attention to detail in our project. We had our kitchen cabinets refaced and our counter top replaced. The counter top was exactly what we ordered and was installed with great care by the company that it was subcontracted out to. The rest of the project was a series of mistakes on the part of both the carpenter and the production managers from Dream Maker. The measurements were taken wrong initially and not discovered until half the doors were installed, a whole day was spent building out an overhead incorrectly, and half of our doors had to be reordered three times before the project was completed. The initial reorder added six weeks to the job, and each reorder after that added two additional weeks. Even after all of that, we needed to call the production manager back to adjust a door due to it rubbing on the door next to it every time we opened it. I was also not impressed by the final clean up done by the lead carpenter. I needed to vacuum out the drawers installed and remove smudges and fingerprints from the white cupboard doors every time he worked on them. I feel like thousands of dollars spent should have afforded us a project that was completed with great attention to detail, and a final presentation that showed some degree of pride in the project.
