Made it for the first time today. Passed by a million times. Great concept but not great execution. Maybe it's the fact that it's almost Labor Day and the cooks are tired but our order had some substantial errors. The eggs Benedict with crab cake. Good flavor but the muffin wasn't toasted nearly enough and the egg was over cooked so there was no oozing to make the dish. The chicken and waffles was tasty but I asked for the syrup on the side and didn't get it that way. Combine that with the complete lack of crispness to the waffles and it was just an ok dish. The syrup needed a lot more heat. Even my 10 year olds agreed. Potato's were great. Juice was watery service was great aside from the syrup issues. I will go back but I guess I'll have to order more carefully and will definitely wait until the kitchen staff gets to rest from serving all the annoying entitled privileged shoobies from OC. read more

I have been to CJ's a few times now and have not been disappointed yet. Twice I have had their Mahi tacos and they were excellent. Mahi tacos is one of my favorite meals in the world and I have eaten them in a few states and in another country and these were right up there with the best. One visit I had a Cuban sandwich and it was ok but not an authentic Cuban, that did leave a bit to be desired but it was still ok. The prices are reasonable and you always get service with a smile. Give Cj's a try you will enjoy it. read more

Went for breakfast with my 3 year old, a friend and her 6 week old, as we 4 go out to breakfast almost every week and try a new place in the SP/OC area. It was a busy Sunday morning but the staff was super accommodating and friendly towards my little lady. Other guests were also friendly towards my outgoing social toddler. CJs has an AWESOME Eggs Benedict menu, and the pancake options are incredible. Just ok ice tea, but we will definitely be back. Fairly warm inside, though it was record breaking heat outside and there was a wait so the door was probably open more than usual. Great local place. read more

It's a shame a place like CJ's overall rating is lowered by the bad experiences of a few, just because there aren't a lot of reviews for this Somers Point staple. Most times I'm chowing down on their breakfasts, the Bennies being a clear front runner for me (the delectable French Toast or Cinnamon bun pancakes for my wife), but I won't hesitate to have lunch here either (fish tacos and the previously crowned Best Crab cake Sandwich in the area). The wait staff is always friendly, hardworking and accommodating. Food may be a little more expensive than other local places, but the quality far surpasses any others. The guys really know what they're doing. It wouldn't be a trip down the shore without at least one stop at CJ's! read more

Finally got a chance to set aside time to park and go in (right near Shore Memorial Hospital & all the doctor offices nearby). Sooo my fiancé and I came to this place for lunch, and ended up being highly disappointed. I ordered the BYO medium burger with lettuce, tomato, sautéed onions and avocado on a brioche bun. On their menu it says "hand formed angus beef". WELL. I've had better patties at my high school lunch & I graduated 6 years ago LOL. My patty was basically grey and so thin, not seasoned at all! My fiancée literally had to add salt to his patty as well. I want to cut this place some slack, since it might be really good for breakfast. But for a restaurant that has half the first page of menu full of burger options, I would expect AT LEAST a decent burger. Don't order a burger unless you have poor taste buds. Seriously. My family loves coming to CJ's. We are aware that some times service is slow, but the food is delicious and staff are friendly enough to make up for that. I wanted to take this time to share about an my family's most recent experience at CJs. On Sunday, we decided to grab a late breakfast, arriving around 11. The place was packed so we ate outside. Our waitress was very friendly but seemed a bit flustered. We later learned she was balancing indoor and outdoor tables and that they were seriously understaffed. Our orders took about an hour to come out and when we all had our meals we were still missing things like drinks, sides, syrup for pancakes, etc. Once everything was right we were able to enjoy our delicious meals. Because we were frustrated with the wait and missed items, we asked to speak to the manager to express our frustrations. We learned there were a few reasons why this was the case and the manager offered to give us a gift card. He was extremely kind and sincerely apologetic. We received our check and upon trying to pay, we learned that our entire meal was comped. This type of customer service proved to us that the management understood and validated our frustrations and felt this did not represent their business. We feel the same way and appreciate CJ's going above and beyond to make good. We will be back and we will tell friends to check it out! read more

Just had lunch at Cj's. Food was good, got a fancy burger with bacon, goat cheese and apples, great idea but needed a sauce to tie it together and it will be great. My son had the SOS, his favorite, he enjoyed the dish and would order it again. Unfortunately our server was not very good, and, we do not hold the bar high, as we both work/worked in the restaurant business. Hopefully she is new and will get the hang of it quickly. A billboard above the cook seems to always have rotating specials (although the one I tried to get today was unavailable). We went here for late breakfast. It was a Saturday, so we did have to wait for about a half hour to be seated. Once seated, the food was delicious. The Philly omelette I ordered was very fluffy. One of the best I have ever eaten. My niece ordered the oatmeal and she said it was the best she has ever had. My husband ordered the Sicilian Omelette and my other niece ordered a chicken bacon sandwich. They both enjoyed their choices. The flavored teas were very good, but expensive. Ate there this morning and I have to say I was disappointed. Note, holiday weekend and big crowd (including our table of 6) allows for slow seating and service, and I have to say the servers did keep on the move! That being said, we had a 45 minute wait after placing our order for our food to arrive, in phases, and sadly the exceptionally patient 2 yr old was the last to be served. My order of sausage gravy and biscuit was delicious, the "home fries" were nothing more than thick-slice potato chips overcooked and completely unseasoned and the meal apparently sat in the kitchen so long the gravy developed a skin. My friend ordered the cornbread pancakes which would have been wonderful if they were not burnt. Same for the Oreo French toast and Seasonal Fruit pancakes, burnt. The Philly omelet was tasty but the portion size was so surprisingly small. We did receive numerous apologies for the delayed meals and plenty of coffee refills but overall, I don't think I would go back or recommend the place. I've read many good comments about this place and am happy for the people who received good food. Sadly that was not our experience. read more

When I was back in the area recently visiting my mother she raved about CJ's barbecue and insisted we pick up an order for dinner one night. It was fantastic! Mom ordered ribs with sides of beans and coleslaw, I ordered the brisket with sides of broccoli rabe and mac 'n' cheese. Both came with a cheese biscuit (delicious!) and two types of BBQ sauce. The meat was incredible - brisket was amazingly tender and the ribs almost fell off the bone and both were delicious (as was the provided sauces). The sides were all really good, especially the beans (not just your run of the mill baked beans - there were at least two different types of beans in the mix and big chunks of smoked meat in with them). If I lived locally, I'd stop by here on a weekly basis for my smoked meat fix. The barbecue is currently only available during summer months, so get it while you can! read more
