They're still open during COVID. I believe they're offering outdoor dining and take-out. I was on hold for quite a bit to have my order taken and I'll attribute it to how busy they were when I came to pick up my food. We ordered the Huevos di Castillo and the Veggie Benedict. Both were good. The only downside to ordering take-out (with any restaurant really) is that the food gets soggy in its container. I had my toast on the side instead of under my bennie and it kept it from getting soft and soggy. Before ordering, I looked at the menu online. Next time, I'll order from the specials menu that's only posted onsite - many entrees sounded delicious. We had our vacation last week in Ocean City and the very first place we stopped before even getting there was CJ's. We were in town for 7 days and we ate here 5 times in those days. My wife likes breakfast food, my son hardly eats anything, and I love lunch and dinner food. You can order anything they serve in the morning and my usual is a hamburger or sandwich and fries. This trip I had the boardwalk burger, south Philly burger, Sriracha buffalo chicken sandwich and Roast beef and fries. My wife had an omlett, huevos De Castillo, avacado toast, and another Mexican type breakfast with eggs. It's funny she said her favorite thing was the avacado toast. My son had potatoes and pancakes which he actually finished and that is really saying something. The burgers are very good but the chicken sandwich is better and the roast beef is on par with the best I've ever had. The last night we went for the BBQ. We ordered the sampler and an extra wing and extra cheddar biscuits. The ribs were fall off the bone, the brisket was flavorful and moist and the pulled pork was also moist and very good. I liked the fact they don't use sauce and let the meat speak for itself. The two sides we got were cowboy beans and onion rings. The beans take three days to prepare and after eating them I understand why. The wings were not my favorite but my mother in law enjoyed them. The cheddar biscuits were very good and heavy. We ended up getting a pound of pulled pork and extra cheddar biscuits to bring home. The waitstaff was friendly and helpful with menu choices. We spoke to one of the owners and he told us how much of the products are made inhouse. From the beef,pork,and turkey all the way down to the tortilla chips. The location is great and they do have parking. Be prepared to wait on the weekends or choose an outside table. Four of us were heading down to OCNJ for the weekend from Philly and decided to get lunch before venturing to the boardwalk. We all got different items from their lunch menu and truthfully, we were very underwhelmed. Items we got were the fried chicken BLT, crab cake sandwich, Jimmy's burger, a patty melt, and a papas locas to share. We all agreed that we would rate our sandwiches at 2-3 out of 5. My friend chicken BLT was pounded thinly and fried nicely with crunch but it was so dry. I upgraded to onion rings which were actually decent, but she dropped some while serving me, and while said she'd bring more, she never did. Our waitress never stopped by to ask how the food was or refill our drinks and I didn't get to ask for mayo. The Jimmy burger was juicy, but the brioche roll was tough. Crab cake was actually seasoned well, but a bit tad too salty and fell apart so easily in the sandwich. The papas locas were decent, however, the menu described them as potato skins which they were not. They were just sliced fried potatoes, just thicker than potato chips. It was topped with scrambled eggs, black beans, salsa verde(?), sausage, and avocado. Did we order the wrong items? Honestly, coming from the city, you can call us picky. The food down the shore is just alright. I guess these restaurants don't really need to put in too much effort because people are on vacation and will go out to eat regardless. read more

To loud and hot. I got a South Phila Benny. The roll was so hard I had to ask for a steak knife to cut it and still couldn't. Hardly any Hollandase sauce and it had spinach on it instead of the broccoli rabe. Not happy with the whole meal. I will not go back. read more

We ordered lunch for takeout which consisted of a cobb salad, burger, corned beef special and turkey club. Everyone enjoyed their meal and since we put everything on the table to share, we all got to taste everything. The turkey club was one of the best I've ever had, which is the reason we keep going back to CJ's when we're visiting OC. read more

CJ's really stepped up their game in terms of food specials, decor, cleanliness, and service. They recently remodeled their restaurant in the spring. Prior to that remodel, the restaurant was just an average place that I found to be a little dirty at times (sticky floors with food that no one bothered to pick up, sticky salt and pepper shakers, hand-printed windows) and the service was particularly slow. This complete revamp was a great decision on their part. When I went here for breakfast with my family on a Friday morning, the service was spectacular. The waitress was newly hired and she did a wonderful job accommodating for my family, particularly a family member of mine with special needs. The restaurant seemed very clean. No more stickiness! They also really turned it up a notch with the food and overall presentation. Our food was delicious. The pancakes were some of the best I've ever had. Super spongy and melt in your mouth, and they have a ton of varieties! The new decor is gnarly, with a surfer/beachy feel. Cool little breakfast and lunch spot! read more

We were surprised the food was so plain and bland especially after reading all the good reviews. The burger didn't seem to have any seasoning and it was advertised with heinz 57 sauce but I didn't detect any sauce at all. Maybe this is one of those overrated places. read more

came here for a quick bite before hitting the road and i was disappointed. i got the gravy and biscuits and it was pretty disgusting. the gravy was tasteless, the sausage tasted old and the biscuits were rock hard even though there was gravy on top of it! the home fries were good except i wouldn't call them home fries, they were fried potato chips. overall, this place had potential to me, great waitstaff and a broad menu but my dish was pretty tasteless and i ended up getting a bagel to go because i needed to eat something. read more

In my book CJ's should be in the "breakfast hall of Fame" You owe it to yourself to visit CJ's, meet the friendly staff, enjoy what I believe is the best coffee at the Jersey Shore. Do not overlook the breakfast specials posted on the blackboard. My favorite is "Crazy Potatoes". It is delightful and written in Spanish on the board. This place has the best breakfast in the area by a landslide. It's not a generic breakfast menu which is awesome but they still have your staple items as well.
