We recently had take out. I called ahead and was done when I got there and still warm when I got home. Interior seemed very nice and as already stated much different than what you would expect for the strip mall it is in. I like my crab rangoon just a bit more crispy, but was not bad for taste. The General Tso was also done well. Portion size was large. Wife had Moo Goo Gai Pan which was done to her satisfaction. We may try dining in and trying some different dishes in the future. read more

My boyfriend and I stopped by today for some quick lunch after school and to take advantage of the 15% coupon the restaurant was running on yelp (yay!!). When we first arrived at 11am we were practically the only customers there, however that soon changed as the restaurant soon became packed! I ordered the beef mai fun ($7.95) and my boyfriend ordered the roasted pork fried rice ($6.95). Our food came out timely and was severed in enormous portions in ceramic bowls. My rice noodles were delicious and the beef was oh so tender but my boyfriends dish stole the show (seriously the best fried rice either of us had ever tried) the pork was savory and the rice and everything else fried in made for a dynamite collaboration! No doubt will I have to come in for more of the amazing fried rice and to try some of their sushi! read more

This is one of our favorite local restaurants. The food is always fresh and delicious. The service is fantastic. My son always chooses to come here whenever possible. I'd highly recommend the steamed dumplings and any of the sushi. The hot order foods are also tasty, huge portions! They are always accommodating with special orders. The location is a hole in the wall off of a busy road, but it's definitely worth stopping in for lunch or dinner! read more

Came with a group of 6 people. Not one complaint about the food or service. I ordered the CJ Mai Fun, the others ordered the Dragon & Phoenix, Las Vegas roll and dragon roll, another got the NY roll, and the others got orange chicken dishes. All we excellent and cooked to perfection. My Mai Fun has the perfect kick of spice. The sushi was made perfectly and fulfilling. Highly recommend this place if you're craving Japanese. read more

This is our 'go-to' 'to-go' place, and we also like dining in. The food is solid, with a nice mix of Chinese and Japanese staple menu items. They have a couple of nice salad options as well as a killer hot curry chicken. Because of the variety, we find we are able to make some healthier choices than we could at a traditional Chinese restaurant. The location near UD is cozy and borders on cramped, but the service is always excellent and speedy. As others have said, it's worth the wait, but if you are starved, get it to go! read more

Came here for an early dinner and everything we had ordered tasted really good. The waitress quickly brought us water and took our order in a timely manner. This is my absolute favorite Asian restaurant. It is reasonably priced and the quality of food is outstanding. I love how fresh their vegetables always are. The staff is very friendly and the restaurant is clean. I tend to get their Mixed Vegetables or the Singapore Mai Fun. Desperately looking for where Mr. Yu from Saya has disappeared to. However, I did find the value ($8.95 for Sashimi Lunch Special) a good one. It has 8 pcs of sashimi (Salmon, Tuna, White Tuna and Red Snapper), 4 pcs of Cali Roll, Rice, Miso Soup and Salad. They forgot our soup but made an order to go. The sashimi could have been colder which would have promoted a better flavor, but they were good cuts of fish nonetheless. My buddy ordered a spicy tuna hand roll and it came filled with spicy tuna however the seaweed was already rubbery by the time our server delivered it to our table. Those things have to come out as soon as they are ready to get that nice crisp seaweed paper texture. MR. YU, WHERE ARE YOU??? The quest continues!!! read more

When the kids come this is a hit every time. If this is the type of food they want there is no question about where we are getting it.

We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon. It was hot outside and just about as hot inside. The hot and sour soup was very good. That made me hopeful for the cashew chicken and egg roll that were on the way. My partner got some noodle dish and it looked like little more than noodles and sparse veggies in a bowl. (She did say it was better the next day.) I asked for chili oil, which looked kind of old. I mean, I've never seen it almost dried up. I used a lot of that, lots of pepper, salt, soy sauce...absolutely nothing I did have it any flavor. I have never had a meal so bland. It's also very small, which isn't horrible when you don't have a loud old woman acting like she's high society with relatives who actually were visiting from China. On top of that, her numbskull husband (also loud) started accusing the server of bringing him the wrong dish. He didn't wait to find out it wasn't his before he started talking. We did, however, use the Yelp app to get a free California roll. It was ok, I guess. I defer opinions on things like that to my partner. She seemed to think it was ok. So. We won't be back. If I were to have Asian guests, I would not take them here. read more

My wife and i love these restaurants i lived in japan for three years and hawaii for another five. In both places i had the pleasure of trying, what i consider, the best japanese food i could hope to find. CJ Chan's is as good as anything i had in japan or hawaii. Both restaurants, while in rather unassuming locations (strip malls), are suprisingly well furnished and exceptionally clean. Again, the food is fantastic. I had the tuna tataki and the beef nagamaki (please forgive the spelling, grammar, and poor punctuation) bento box. The tuna tataki is thinly sliced lightly seared ahi tuna served over seaweed and sliced cucumber. Extremely good and reasonably priced considering the quality of the fish and portion size. The beef nagamaki was fantastic. Think of a sushi roll made of thinly sliced broiled beef wrapped around thinly sliced green onion lightly topped with teriyaki sauce. Friggin great! But wait this was a bento box, soooo that means there's morrrrre! The bento box came with a california roll (which i immediately swapped out for a spicy tuna tekamaki roll...no california roll is worth ordering...anywhere) tempura shrimp and veggies (sweet potato, brocolli, mushroom [ugh]) and white rice. The white rice was dry and the only part of my dinner i didn't thoroughly enjoy. For $56 (tax and tip included)my wife and i each enjoyed an appetizer, salad, miso soup, and some fantastic and authentic Japanese food. Thanks CJ Chan's for offering up the best japanese food certainly in Dayton and probably Ohio. read more

Their portions are gigantic (seem to be even bigger if you order carry out) and the prices are inexpensive. The building looks so nice inside that it looks out of place. This is one of the best Chinese/Japanese restaurant in the city. They have both a Chinese and Japanese menu. They have "healthy" menu options as well. They do not deliver but they are so worth the drive. The portion sizes are amazing. I always have leftovers. It's small on the inside but the ambience is great. CJ Chan is some of the best asian food i've found in Dayton and certainly the best chinese. They are located in a strip mall next to an LA Tan and a Nail salon,but when you walk into the restaurant you would never guess your in a strip mall. They've done an impressive job on the interior and service is always great. I would suggest trying the bento box lunch or anything off the chinese menu. I literally eat here once a week. Sometimes even twice. I almost always get sushi and I've never been disappointed in the quality or freshness. Eating raw fish this often greatly increases my food illness risk but I feel nothing but awesome after every chans meal. I wasn't a big fan of the lo mein but I'm not sure I'd like it anywhere. General tso's is just plain the BEST in Dayton. I'd rather have sushi here than from Thai 9 any day and it's also a fabulous restaurant known for its high class sushi and rolls. You absolutely cannot beat the price. I'm sure it's the main draw at chans but as soon as you eat there you'll feel like you just got away with robbery. This is the best sushi in Dayton! Don't let the strip-mall exterior frighten you away. The interior is charming but small. There are only about 12 tabletops in the entire restaurant; so, plan according to time of day and the size of your party. As for the food, the fish is exceedingly fresh and generously portioned. So, enjoy the sushi, tempura, and miso soup! The staff is very helpful and polite. Finally, the pricing is extremely reasonable. Best Chinese takeout in Dayton! It's in a great location for anyone living within The City of Dayton or Kettering, just in front of Dayton Hospice. For a while I lived on Monument Ave downtown and I'd prefer to drive past 10 Chinese places just to get to this one. Their food is always consistent, hot and fresh. If you like Chinese mustard, be sure to ask for their house made mustard. They will give you a cup to take home. My favorite dish so far is the Kung Pao Chicken. It's nice & spicy! read more
